Tension is building inside the McLaren factory. The team is closer to a title than they have been for 12 years and, after dramatic races in Zandvoort and Monza, there is much to discuss. Not least the team's philosophy that allows their drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, to freely race each other. Team Principal Andrea Stella has returned to the factory to consider whether there now needs to be a change of policy. While Stella smooths out any wrinkles caused by the battling teammates, Production Director Ross Hood is assessing the cars ahead of the next two races in Azerbaijan and Singapore. The MCL-38s are now back at base for a service in between races. At Aston Martin, there is also continued work going on in production. The team's Chief Operating Officer Ben Fitzgerald is fixated on speeding up the production of the car's floor - with the hope that it will also increase performance on track for drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. These small gains on track come from highly-detailed work back at base - and the next race is fast approaching, around the ancient city walls of Baku. From Azerbaijan, the Formula 1 field flies on to Singapore, for the sport's original night race. But, for the first time in our series, we will hear what happens inside an F1 factory during a grand prix weekend. F1 experts Holly Samos and Sarah Holt are visiting the McLaren Technology Centre. They have been given rare access to see inside Mission Control. This top-secret room connects the factory with the track through an exchange of detailed data which flows back and forth at high speed. But will it help the team secure victory in Singapore? The racing around Singapore's bumpy street circuit is unpredictable, and often attritional. Sarah and Holly will witness how McLaren's qualifying and race unfolds from the heart of the team's inner sanctum. With two Championships on the line, the stakes are high. Fresh from a red-eye flight from Singapore, Aston Martin reserve driver, Stoffel Vandoorne, is already back in the team's simulator. Here – hunkered down in the cockpit of a giant driving rig – he's laying the groundwork for the final six races of the season. In the high-paced world of F1, the chase for pure speed never ends.F1:Back at Base is narrated by Josh Hartnett. It is created and produced by Sarah Holt and Holly Samos and is an IMG Production for the BBC.

The Formula E driver market is ablaze, so we thought we'd get Sam Smith and Andrew van de Burgt to pour some sustainable fuel upon it for this special episode. The futures of two former champions, Antonio Felix da Costa and Stoffel Vandoorne, are at the forefront of 'silly season' rumours with the former set to essentially dictate the market after a tumultuous second year with the German manufacturer. Vandoorne's recent talks with Envision are analysed, as is the possibility of Jake Hughes breaking free of NEOM McLaren and heading elsewhere. Also, the possible end of Sebastien Buemi decade long Formula E career is discussed as the Swiss looks increasingly likely to be replaced by Vandoorne. In addition to the merry-go-round, the new for 2024-25 calendar is also looked in to with Smith and van de Burgt pontificating over planned new races at Homestead and Chiang Mai, while a future for Formula E at Silverstone is also debated. Sam Smith and Andrew van de Burgt are joined by motorsport writer and The Race contributor, Alice Holloway, as the business end of the 2024 Formula E season arrives, with talk of the title fight now being a straight scrap between Jaguar's Nick Cassidy and Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein. But neither of them took the wins as the all-electric world championship returned to mainland China for the first time since 2015. It was their respective teammates Mitch Evans and Antonio Felix da Costa that triumphed after well-judged victories in more high-energy target races. The future of da Costa and his at times fraught relationship with Porsche is discussed, as is the likelihood of Jake Dennis now not being able to defend his title and Nissan's Oliver Rowland also losing ground to his rivals. The trials and tribulations of Envision Racing are analysed, as is the future of Stoffel Vandoorne and the likelihood of Silverstone becoming the future home of a UK Formula E round. A multiple title winner at junior level and a point-scorer on his unexpected F1 debut in 2016, Stoffel Vandoorne seemed on track for a long and prosperous career in Formula 1. But his big break at McLaren in 2017 arrived during one of the team's most challenging periods. They finished second-last in the standings during Vandoorne's first season, endured a difficult transition from Honda to Renault engines the following year, and there was huge organisational change at the top as Zak Brown came in as CEO. After just seven points-finishes in two years, with a best result of P7, Stoffel was replaced by Lando Norris for 2019 and he hasn't raced in F1 since. Now a Test and Reserve driver for Aston Martin, the Belgian tells Tom Clarkson how he prepared for his first race in F1 at such short notice, the drama of signing his first McLaren contract, where it all went wrong during his two seasons on the grid, and what impact those struggles had on his mental wellbeing, motivation and enjoyment of racing. The Motion E Podcast: https://t.co/okEdrD3rvH We're back for the new year and we're kicking things off with a Gen3, Season 9 Preview of Formula E! And we got a special guest, and that was Mx S Garlick of the Motion E Podcast. Check them out at the link up above! In this 105-minute special, we break down some of the issues that have plagued the series in their Gen3 crossover, from admin issues and a Eurovision reboot, to the format changes and braking issues that could plague the opening round in Mexico this weekend. We also break down the field team-by-team. It's a very different field from before, down from 12 teams to 11, and some exciting new names. McLaren take over where Mercedes left off with Rene Rast returning. Maserati's first single-seater Motorsport adventure in 60 years, and DS and Penske combining their forces into a superteam with Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne becoming quite possibly the strongest driver pairing in series history. Only Jaguar are actually keeping their line-up the same, but can Mitch Evans push for a title for the 3rd year running. Are Porsche leaving soon, and can Antonio Felix Da Costa get them into title contention? And just how many struggles is Jake Dennis due? (Outside of that Twitter account) All that and more on the first M101 of 2023! Oh, and don't worry, Dre does discuss that elephant in the room...

It's not unheard of in Motorsport, but certainly not common, for a newly crowned champion driver to up sticks and move to a back-of-the-grid team. But that's exactly what is happening in Formula E next season. Stoffel Vandoorne will move to the Dragon Penske squad as drivers champion and join a team with two points to their name in 2021-2022. Today we ask: How will the grid look different next season as the reigning champ heads from Mercedes to Dragon? Why one of the most successful teams might not be on the grid? And can the new Gen3 cars provide the entertainment needed to forget about the manufacturers who have recently left the sport? Let's get up to speed with Autosport's Jake Boxall-Legge
In a feature length season review episode The Race's Andrew van de Burgt and Sam Smith and are joined by double DTM champion and now Mercedes EQ team manager Gary Paffett. The victorious season for Mercedes and Stoffel Vandoorne gets the deep dive treatment as does the German manufacturers legacy in Formula E after leaving the all-electric series on a high. The trio choose their top performing drivers of the season and mull over some excellent individual performances from Mitch Evans, Jake Dennis, Edoardo Mortara and Pascal Wehrlein. At the other end of the scale fans of Porsche and Antonio Giovinazzi should be advised of some stark appraisals after scrappy 2022 campaigns. All this and extra amusement via Smith's Seoul taxi debacle, VDB's gripe over the difficulty in finding Formula E races to watch on TV in the first place and some smugness over pre-season predictions add to the 2022 valedictory feel. As well as the old, the new striking Formula E design car is also discussed after a crucial recent test at Varano in Italy in addition to the latest driver market moves as Gen 2 morphs into Gen 3. We can finally say, it's Stoffel Season again. And the man doesn't even like waffles. The Season Finale of Year 8 in Formula E hit us this past weekend in Seoul, South Korea and its first major Motorsport event in almost a decade. Anyone else remember Yeognam? Anyway, we catch up a little bit on London, as Stoffel Vandoorne was in control of the Championship, and Mitch Evans and Edo Mortara were the only two men who could realistically stop him. So of course, Mitch takes Race 1 just to make it an absolute final race showdown. But not before a 7-car wreck on a wet track. Yikes. But with Mitch qualifying badly in Race 2, it left the path to success clear for Stoffel to become Formula E's third World Champion. We discuss the path to the title for Stoffel, and his main contenders in Mitch, who Mitched Dre's last brah. And Edo Mortara. Remember when he had an 11-point lead in the Championship after Berlin?! We also talk Seoul's track, and the Olympic Stadium it was racing around. We'll get over Ben Johnson's infamous 100m and the involvement of "Balanced Breakfasts". Was it conducive for good racing? Did it come off well on TV? Well... And we look forward to the Gen 3 era of Formula E. This was the series 99th and 100th races in its history and we show some cautious optimism about where the series is heading, even with some concerns. There's some silly season in there too with Lucas Di Grassi heading to Mahindra, and some rumours about the future of Nyck De Vries, Sergio Sette Camara and more. All that and more on Motorsport101!
The Race Formula E podcast welcomes newly crowned ABB FIA Formula E World Champion Stoffel Vandoorne as he savours a hard-earned title sealed in Seoul last weekend. The Mercedes EQ driver gives an extensive appraisal of how he achieved his first title since his 2016 GP2 triumph and how he soaked up the pressure to beat a feisty challenge from Mitch Evans. The former McLaren F1 driver talks Sam Smith and Andrew van de Burgt through his season of supreme consistency and how races at Berlin and Marrakesh were vital to his successful campaign. Vandoorne also gives us insight in to the new-look qualifying format and the fresh hierarchical nature of the racing which he and many of his title rivals enjoyed much more this season. In addition to the new champ's insight, Sam and Andrew also discuss Edoardo Mortara's win, Oliver Rowland's astonishing pole lap and the eight-car melee (or was it a shamozzle?) that red flagged Saturday's race. All that and the very latest driver moves and latest paddock insight direct from Seoul are mulled over in a final racing review episode of the 2022 season. Welcome to Episode 32 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Our hosts Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. Paul joins us from a secret location where we are looking to do some filming! This week, we've had lots of exciting racing in the UK, NASCAR and more! The Formula 1 drivers are on their Summer break. If the FIA admitted human error in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, why have Mercedes let it go? Toto Wolff has been accused of being 'too powerful' in the World of Motorsport by Mario Andretti. Lewis Hamilton was seen in the W Series paddocks, stating that the drivers need more support to get into the sport. With Paul being away, he wasn't present at the Caterham Race at Anglesey, where friend of the channel, Charlie Lower took another win! The British Superbikes were at Thruxton, with some of the best racing Tiff has ever seen! Jason O'Halloran took the win in the first two races, but Tarran Mackenzie took the lead in the third race with just a few corners to go! Very exciting racing. The other British racing this weekend was the Touring Cars at Snetterton. There wasn't much overtaking at this circuit, with a great weekend for BMW as the heat affected the FWD cars. Colin Turkington won the first two races, with Ford's Ashley Sutton taking the third win. The BTCC was supported by some amazing racing in the Ginetta series. Internationally, the NASCAR boys were racing at the Richmond Raceway in Virginia, with a second win on the trot for Kevin Harwick. Just two races to go before the playoffs! Watkins Glen is coming up, with Formula 1 driver, Kimi Raikonnen making a debut! The first race of the World Rallycross Championship also took place this weekend, the electric rallycross series. The series was in Norway, with just 8 cars on the grid. We had the last round of the Formula E Championship at Seoul in South Korea, with a win for Edoardo Mortara, with Stoffel Vandoorne securing second place and winning the Championship. Next weekend, we have Indycar at Gateway Oval as we have some the last three exciting rounds coming up. WRC is in Belgium, plus Moto GP at the Red Bull Ring. Plus, we have Kimi Raikonnen at Watkins Glen in NASCAR!

London called, and Formula E answered in what is being considered as being one of the best events the all-electric world championship has put on in recent years. Guest host Jack Nicholls is joined by Sam Smith and Avalanche Andretti's Roger Griffiths, who with driver Jake Dennis was the toast of the UK's capital last weekend after a dominant victory and a close second to Sunday victor Lucas di Grassi at the ExCeL centre circuit. In a packed show the trio discuss the diminishing title fight after Stoffel Vandoorne again capitalised on reliability misfortune for Mitch Evans and incident packed races for both Edoardo Mortara and Jean-Eric Vergne. There were plenty of afters too as Mercedes EQ got embroiled in an aborted choreography plan, while Sebastien Buemi and Pascal Wehrlein almost came to blows in the pit-lane and had to be separated by Griffiths' commercial director and occasional columnist of The Race, Jim Wright! In addition to the London action there is also a look ahead to Seoul and Griffiths reflections on Andretti's BMW journey which has roots stretching all the way back to the start of Formula E. Jack Giordmaina and Jack Pickering review the dramatic events of Saturday's London E-Prix, which saw Jake Dennis beat Stoffel Vandoorne to win his home race for the second year in a row. PLEASE NOTE: This was recorded before De Vries was penalised five places for changing his line into the braking zone too late during his battle with Nick Cassidy for 3rd. Hey now, it's been a while, but welcome back to Formula E! And we had some surprises in store when the series returned to New York City! It was a double header weekend, and in Race 1, the story was Nick Cassidy! He won the pole position final duel against Stoffel Vandoorne by 8 thousandths of a second and would then go onto control the race from the front... until rain came down with 10 minutes to go! A torrential downpour had Cassidy, Vandoorne and Mortara all hit a puddle and go flying off into the escape road, red flagging the race, and because the race was called, Cassidy got to keep the win on countback! Should we have had a restart? Jaguar were pissed they didn't, we discuss it! We also had a crazy end to Race 2 with a pileup at the end with Lucas Di Grassi, a spun around Jean-Eric Vergne and Oliver Askew's car in the wall. Race Director Scot Elkins though... didn't call for a Full Course Yellow as Antonio Felix Da Costa held on for his first win of the season from Stoffel Vandoorne second. All this after Nick Cassidy qualified on pole AGAIN, but was sent to the back live on TV for a battery change we all saw coming after yesterday's wreck. Again, we break it all down on the show. And finally, Season 9's calendar was released for 2023, and we got some interesting changes. Provisionally, the series largest ever calendar at 18 races, new rounds in Hyderabad in India, with rumours of Cape Town and a return to China also on the bill. We discuss all the changes and whether we like the direction the series is going in. All that and more on Motorsport101!
Who was flying on the Marrakesh Express and who was left to crumble like cous-cous in the searing heat of Morocco last weekend? That and several other topics are discussed between host Andrew van de Burgt, The Race's Formula E guru Sam Smith and special guest, Mercedes EQ team principal, Ian James in the latest episode of the Race's Formula E podcast. The intricate choreography of DS Techeetah pair Jean-Eric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa and how it allowed Edoardo Mortara the little extra breathing space he needed is mulled over, as is the chronic braking difficulties that blighted James' charge Stoffel Vandoorne. The trio also take a look at how the teammates of the ‘Gang of Four' at the head of the drivers title fight will have a say in where the title rests in just over a month's time when the world championship concludes in Seoul. The seemingly never-ending saga of the 2022 driver silly season is picked apart, and the latest 2023 EPrix venue news is covered in the familiar ‘Sam's calendar update' segment of the show. Formula E headed off to a brand new round as their 2022 season continued, as Jakarta became a well-liked and enjoyable round on the calendar. We talk MITCCCCCCCCCH BRAAAAAAAAAAAH as he claimed a narrow, but frenetic third win of the season over Jean-Eric Vergne and Edo Mortara with just under a second covering the trio over the line. We break down how he won, and how dramatic it was. We also get into an interesting debate over the track itself, and how it... wasn't really a "Street Circuit" compared to most on the Formula E calendar. There's no doubt Indonesia was well received by drivers like Nyck De Vries, Stoffel Vandoorne and others, but we the hosts got into a debate about whether its a good thing the series is turning away from its roots. We also talk Nyck De Vries probably being out of title contention after a puncture ended his race at the hands of Andre Lotterer (again). Should Mercs be telling Nyck to step aside to support Stoffel's campaign? We discuss that and more on Motorsport101!
A jam-packed post-Monaco E-Prix podcast dissects an intricately executed win for Stoffel Vandoorne and Mercedes EQ in addition to a host of other fine performances and spectacular incidents in the principality last weekend. Former Audi Formula E team principal, Allan McNish joins Andrew van de Burgt and Sam Smith to discuss how Vandoorne beat Mitch Evans' Jaguar and how Pascal Wehrlein was easily the unluckiest man in town. Butchery puns abound after Edoardo Mortara's now infamous description of team-mate Lucas di Grassi's brawny racing left ROKiT Venturi embarrassed on their home turf. The Italo-Swiss ace didn't mince his words after receiving a chop from Di Grassi causing his terminal puncture. The unveiling of the all-new Gen 3 car is picked over, as is the latest calendar shenanigans – a regular feature of the Formula E podcast. Also discussed in detail is Stoffel Vandoorne's soon to be confirmed move from Mercedes EQ to the new DS Penske alliance in what is sure to be one of the strongest ever partnerships seen in the all-electric world championship. You join the duo this week in America, as we film at the Triple F Collection, with some incredible cars behind Tiff and Paul, including a La Ferrari! We pay tribute to begin with to Ayrton Senna. On this day in 1980, a young Tiff Needell qualified for the Belgian Grand prix, sharing the back row with Emerson Fittipaldi! Moto GP took place at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain, with a win for Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia, ahead of championship leader, Fabio Quartararo, who finished in second on his Yamaha. In Moto2, Japanese rider, Ai Ogura won on his Honda, whilst in Moto3, Spanish rider Izan Guevara took the win on his Gas Gas. The DTM cars were at Portimao, with wins for both Audi and Mercedes. Rally driver, Sebastian Loeb was driving a Ferrari, rising to 16th and 18th during the races. Formula E were at Monaco, with Mitch Evans on pole in his Jaguar. Evans couldn't continue at the same pace with his energy plan, resulting in Mercedes driver, Stoffel Vandoorne winning the E-prix in Monaco. Evans did manage a 2nd place though! Brands Hatch had one of the biggest crowds ever for the GT cars. The Doctor, Valentino Rossi was driving one of the GT3 cars, scoring his first points this weekend in his Audi. With it being a bank holiday in the UK this weekend, the British Superbikes at Oulton Park are still taking place! Indycar was a race all about strategy at the Grand Prix of Alabama. There were cars stopping for fuel, whereas other cars were going for longer stints, making for an epic race! Rinus VeeKay managed to get pole position in qualifying, but had a slow out lap due to having cold tyres, leaving the win to Pato O'Ward, with Veekay finishing 3rd place. Ex Formula 1 star, Romain Grosjean caused a bit of trouble with some wheel banging during overtakes. The IMSA Sports cars were at the Laguna Seca Circuit. Acura managed a 1, 2 finish, with the Brits Oliver Jarvis and Tom Blomqvist bringing home the second place. NASCAR was supposed to be racing in Dover, but was postponed due to poor weather. They are in fact racing today! Who will win? In other news, Porsche and Audi have announced that they will be entering Formula 1! Sadly, this doesn't mean that there will 4 new cars on the grid. Instead, Porsche will partner up with Red Bull, whilst Audi is expected to partner with the Sauber Alfa Romeo team. Next week, we have a new Formula 1 circuit, at the Miami Grand Prix! With lots of overtaking opportunities, it's set to be an exciting race! At Spa in Belgium we have the LMP2 cars. The British GT Championship comes to Silverstone, then we have NASCAR at Darlington Raceway!

Was hat Ron Dennis gesagt? "The Boy made the difference" - Matt Bishops Buch jetzt bestellen!
