(This podcast was previously published on May 3, 2022)   Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...   Jesus said:  And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.  (Matthew 10:36)   So it is not unusual when you speak the Word from God to have a relative or the church people fight against that Word.   In 1977, my cousin, Church of Christ member, once said to me, "Well ... I believe you are a Christian ... I just don't see how you can be one."   She did not understand being born again.   For the next 40-years, she fought me and tried to get me to quit the work I believe God gave me to do.   In 2019, she waged her last battle against me.  It was by exchange of letters for by this time she had gone totally deaf and could not hear by phone and the only communication I could have with her was by letter.  (She didn't know how to do email so we sent US mail to each other.)  She lived in another city from me, about 500 miles away.   She was 97-years-old at that time.   My prayer was that God would reveal to her before she died that I was of HIM and I was just trying to do that which HE told me to do.   (Then she could be saved and go to the new heaven, new Jerusalem.  But if she died fighting against me, that would be same as fighting against God.)   On May 31, 2021, God gave me a dream showing me this cousin now knows I was doing HIS work and we were at peace with one another.   I've always believed God could save a person at the time of that person's last breath on this earth.   Just speak the truth and hold fast to the truth when speaking to another person.  And quit worrying and have faith in God.   If we pray according to the will of God, our prayer will be answered.   I John 5:14-15   And this is the confidence that we have in HIM, that, if we ask any thing according to HIS will, HE heareth us:  And if we know that HE hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of HIM.

When you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work at the cross and resurrection, God sees you as righteous in His sight. This is good news.Luke then, gives us the time frame, the names of the people, and their situation before God and before people. They had no children and they were both old and had been praying for a child. When the angel Gabriel came to Zachariah, the priest, he gives him the answer to their prayer. They would have a boy. One goal of prayer is to find the will of God. Sometimes an impressive input comes into mind after prayer, and the person may struggle to discern whether it has come from God or from the human mind. The blogpost has ample context from chapter 7 of A Taste of Joy and Liberty: A Philosopher Encounters the Gospel of Jesus.  Truth, beauty, and goodness are qualities of God and values that we can live. They are blended in the divine answer to prayer, but we can reflect and discern them. I offer some helpful steps to transform the discernment process.

How does Christ answer the prayers of the bride? Song of Songs 5:1 prepares us for the evening sermon on the coming Lord's Day. In this verse of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that Christ answers the prayers of the bride instantly and abundantly. The devotional unfolds the profound intimacy between Christ and His church, drawing from Song of Songs 5:1 to reveal Christ's joyful, abundant presence and delight in His bride. Central to the message is the divine provision of communion—Christ not only answers the bride's prayer for His coming but declares His full enjoyment of her, having gathered her myrrh and spices, eaten her honeycomb, and drunk her wine and milk, symbolizing His pleasure in her sanctified character, works, fellowship, and nourishing grace. He affectionately calls her garden, sister, and spouse, affirming her identity in Him, while extending the invitation to all believers to partake in His joy as His own friends and beloved ones. The tone is pastoral and celebratory, emphasizing that Christ's presence is not only real but actively communicated, assuring believers of His delight and inviting them to savor His nearness, the fruit of His Spirit, and the joy of eternal fellowship. Christ's provision is not only for the church corporately, but for each individual believer, who is personally cherished and invited into the eternal enjoyment of His delights.

Remember that prayer is always to be offered in submission to God's will; that when we say, God hears prayer, we do not intend by that, that He always gives us literally what we ask for. We do mean, however, this, that He gives us what is best for us; and that if He does not give us the mercy we ask for in silver, He bestows it upon us in gold. If He does not take away the thorn in the flesh, yet He says, "My grace is sufficient for you," and that comes to the same in the end.

Daniel: Patterns As We Speak to God (Week 3) Daniel 9:15-23A recent survey of 2,000 Americans sought to learn about their criteria for asking for help when starting something new. The results showed that 73% don't ask for help until they feel it is absolutely necessary, and 13% admitted that they never ask for help. Of that same group, 53% said they feel held back from reaching certain goals in their lives because they try to go it alone. For whatever reason, it seems most Americans would rather not ask for help.It begs the question: is this how we approach asking God for help? Would we just rather not? Or do we swing the other way and come at Him with a list of demands? When it comes to praying, many are confused on what to even say. Thankfully, God Himself has given many examples for us in Scriptures. Tomorrow morning, we will conclude our series on prayer and discover what it looks like to come to God in the right way.

For eight hours overnight, our Sovereignty Coalition convened a Freedom Prayer event appealing to the Lord to defeat the Biden administration's determined efforts to surrender our sovereignty to the World Health Organization.  This effort took on fresh urgency as the WHO's Director General – who stands to become the most powerful man in history if either of the two proposed treaties is passed – has promised to “try everything” necessary to get them approved this week by the World Health Assembly. An answer to prayer was received on Saturday, however, when President Trump denounced what is afoot. He declared: “I am hereby demanding that Joe Biden submit these monstrosities to the Senate as Treaties… because he cannot be allowed…to destroy our country. If he does not, I will rip them up and throw them out on Day One of the Trump administration.”  Hallelujah.                             This is Frank Gaffney.

And, Theologian Chuck Lawless is experiencing neuropathy in his feet – that's a tingling sensation that eventually leads to numbness.

Our encouragement today comes from seeing God at work. I had written my daily prayer in my journal and almost instantly God started to unfold His glory, majesty, and beauty in an answer to prayer! I'm constantly amazed and in awe! Keep on praying!
