Join us on the Baby Tribe podcast where Katie and Afif unpack the intricate tapestry of parenting styles, shaped by cultural backgrounds and generational shifts. Listen in as we share personal tales and explore how parenting techniques, such as the classic counting method, are redefined across cultures. From Irish to Arab parenting nuances, and from managing diverse disciplinary needs within a single family to examining the Irish mommy stereotype, we navigate the multifaceted journey of raising children in today's ever-changing society. In our conversation, we welcome the celebration of global parenting approaches. Venturing beyond our own experiences, we marvel at the outdoor napping habits of Danish babies, the cold nap philosophy in Norway, and the relaxed bedtimes observed in Spain and Kuwait. With a special nod to France's strategy for dealing with picky eaters, we discuss how integrating varied cultural practices can enhance parenting and healthcare, particularly in multicultural contexts like Ireland. Our discussion sheds light on the importance of recognizing and respecting different cultural norms in child-rearing. We also have the pleasure of hosting paediatrician Dr Aoibhinn Walsh, an expert in inclusion health, who illuminates the profound impacts of social adversities on child health. Aoibhinn's insights into the world of marginalized communities, from homelessness to the specific needs of the Irish traveling community, provide a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by many. The conversation delves into the significance of understanding cultural nuances in healthcare, addressing the environmental factors influencing a child's behaviour and development, and the critical role of community resources in supporting families facing nutritional and health adversities. In the final stretch of our discussion, we tackle the intricate issues surrounding paediatric healthcare, from the resilience of parents in subpar living conditions to the nutritional needs of children in emergency accommodations. The dialogue circles back to the necessity of understanding cultural nuances in healthcare and the role of community resources in bolstering support for families under duress. This episode is not just a conversation but a call to broaden our perspectives on parenting and healthcare in the complex fabric of today's society.

jQuery(document).ready(function(){ cab.clickify(); }); Original Podcast with clickable words https://tinyurl.com/yar6po2m Three brothers dead in north County Cork. Triúr deartháireacha marbh i dtuaisceart Chontae Chorcaí. Gardaí say they are not looking for anyone else in their investigation into the deaths of three brothers near the town of Mitchelstown in North Cork. Deir na Gardaí nach bhfuil siad sa tóir ar aon duine eile maidir leis an bhfiosrúchán atá ar bun acu faoi bhás triúr deartháireacha cóngarach do bhaile Mhistéala i dTuaisceart Chorcaí. The brothers are named locally. Tá na deartháireacha ainmnithe go háitiúil. They were 59-year-old Johnny Hennessy, 60-year-old Paddy Hennessy and 66-year- old Willie Hennessy. Bin iad Johnny Hennessy a bhí 59 bliain daois, Paddy Hennessy a bhí 60 bliain daois agus Willie Hennessy a bhí 66 bliain daois. Johnny and Willie Hennessy were two single men and lived on the family farm. Beirt fhear singil a bhí i Johnny agus Willie Hennessy agus mhair siad ar an bhfeirm teaghlaigh. The other brother Paddy was separated from his wife and lived in the town of Mitchel. Bhí an deartháir eile Paddy scartha óna bhean agus bhí sé ina chónaí i mbaile Mhistéala. Gardaí began a murder investigation when they found the bodies of two brothers on the farm located in Mount Pleasant about 10km from Mitchelstown. Around noon today the body of another brother was found in the river about 5km from the farmhouse. Thart ar mheán lae inniu aimsíodh corp deartháir eile san abhainn timpeall 5km ón dteach feirme. Gardaí were alerted to the incident last night when a family member was concerned that another member of the family had not returned home. Cuireadh na Gardaí ar an eolas faoin eachtra aréir nuair a bhí imní ar dhuine muinteartha nuair nach raibh duine eile ón dteaghlach i ndiaidh filleadh abhaile. Gardaí found one body in the farmyard and shortly afterwards another body was found in a nearby farm hut. Tháinig na Gardaí ar chorp amháin sa chlós feirme agus go gairid ina dhiaidh sin fritheadh corp eile i mbothán feirme in aice láimhe. Gardaí have found a red Toyota Corolla van they were looking for earlier. Tá na Gardaí tar éis teacht ar veain dearg den déanamh Toyota Corolla a bhí á lorg acu níos luaithe. It is understood that post-mortem examinations on the men's bodies will take place tomorrow. Tuigtear go ndéanfar scrúdaithe iar-bháis ar choirp na bhfear amárach.
