As of Sept. 10, their names on the Royal Family website were still listed as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor
Harry and Meghan's announcement of the arrival of their daughter Lilibet surprised royal watchers and sent the world's media scrambling to react.Much of the focus has been on the name: Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.The name is the Queen's family nickname and hit the headlines again recently in the wake of Prince Philip's death, when it was revealed that he referred to her by the nickname throughout their long marriage. After their wedding, the Duke of Edinburgh wrote the Queen Mother: "Lilibet is the only 'thing' in the world which is absolutely real to me."Her Majesty even signed off with the moniker on the handwritten note she placed on the Duke of Edinburgh's coffin. The nickname was coined when then-Princess Elizabeth was just a toddler and struggling to pronounce her own name. Her grandfather King George V then affectionately started calling her "Lilibet" in an imitation of her attempts.Lili's middle name, Diana, pays tribute to Harry's mother.Diana has loomed large over Harry's life since the 12-year old Prince was robbed of his mother in 1997 when she died in a car crash. When Harry and Meghan first announced that she was pregnant with their second child, they made the announcement on the 37th anniversary of Diana's announcement that she was pregnant with Harry.Diana's dedication to charity has informed Harry and Meghan's own charitable works, exemplified by a quote shared by the couple on social media in 2019.The quote reads: "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."Harry has been raising his son Archie with stories of his late mother. In his recent AppleTV+ series, The Me You Can't See, he revealed that one of his son's first words was "grandma".While the announcement of Lili's name was a surprise for most, the signs have been there that the couple have been considering it for some time. While bookies were considering Diana and even Philippa as potential first names for the royal, a chance encounter with a group of young girls in Birkenhead, England, showed that their minds might have been elsewhere. At the 2019 school visit, undertaken while Meghan was pregnant with Archie, Harry asked a mother how she spelled her daughter Lily's name.Harry and American actor Meghan Markle married at Windsor Castle in May 2018. Their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born a year later. In early 2020, Meghan and Harry announced they were quitting royal duties and moving to North America, citing what they said were the unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British media. They live in Montecito, a posh area near Santa Barbara, California. The birth comes after Harry and Meghan's explosive TV interview with Oprah Winfrey in March. The couple described painful discussions about the colour of their first child's skin, losing royal protection and the intense pressures that led her to contemplate suicide.Buckingham Palace said the allegations of racism made by the couple were "concerning" and would be addressed privately.Last year, Meghan revealed that she had a miscarriage in July 2020, giving a personal account of the traumatic experience in hope of helping others.Despite leaving royal duties, Harry's place in the order of succession to the throne remains. The first seven places remain unchanged: Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Harry, and his son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.Lilibet's birth moves Prince Andrew, who was born second in line in 1960, down to ninth place.- Additional reporting, AP

After the godmother of all outsized media backlashes, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated the christening of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor with an Insta-friendly mic drop. Camilla Parker Bowles shared some exciting godparent news of her own aboard a luxury cruise ship, while Prince George has been honing his tennis technique with no less than Roger Federer. Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in the Queen's chapel at Windsor Castle this weekend - but the heightened privacy around the ceremony has sparked some debate. One thing we do know is Meghan's family won't be there, as the family rift remains and the Duchess of Sussex seeks only positive role models for her son.Pod Save The Queen host Ann Gripper is joined by royal editor Russell Myers and lifestyle editor Zoe Forsey to discuss the christening plans, a busy week of royal visits, news of upcoming royal tours to Africa for the Sussexes and Pakistan for William and Kate, and Mike and Zara Tindall's affectionate appearance on Top Gear. They also catch up on William's historic visit to Albert Kennedy Trust, an LGBT homeless charity, and reflect on how much has changed for Meghan in a very short space of time. In case you missed it, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had their baby and everyone is going bananas for Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor. But they're also judging new mother, Meghan. Should she have worn a white dress? Did she look too good and is that unfair to new mothers? Why was she standing behind Harry instead of confidently striding towards the cameras? But is it fair to judge a woman for how she behaves in a situation no woman could prepare for? Or did she know what she was signing up for? And are you sick of wasting your time on the dating circuit? Maybe you need to introduce a sealer date. Mia, Jessie and Rach discuss their approach to dating and whether cutting someone off after two dates is foolish or a good idea. Plus, a recent New York Times article looks at why some women in relationships are stepping back from their careers so their partners can get richer. The article says: "To maximize the family’s income but still keep the children alive, it’s logical for one parent to take an intensive job and the other to take a less demanding one. It just so happens that in most couples, if there's a woman and a man, the woman takes the back seat.” So do we need to stop putting our careers on hold for family or should it be our choice? Trump appeared to doubt whether South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg could handle complex negotiations with economic rival China. "I want to be in that room, I want to watch that one," he said. Trump also expressed concern that several foreign leaders want former Vice President Joe Biden to be president. "Of course they do, so they can continue to rip off the United States," Trump said. "Sleepy Joe and Crazy Bernie [Sanders], I'll take any of them."The president also mused about the recent fortune of former U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, saying the Texas Dem's poll numbers appear to be "falling like a rock." At the rally, Trump also announced his administration would allocate $448 million in federal aid to communities in Florida affected by last year's Category 5 Hurricane Michael, all while blasting Democrats standing in the way of his policies. He also called the political crisis in Venezuela "disgraceful."North Korea fires at least one projectile into East Sea, days after previous launches: reportsNorth Korea fired at least one unidentified projectile from a western region north of Pyongyang on Thursday in the country’s second such launch in less than a week, according to South Korean military reports. Of those trying to cross, 58,474 were with families, and 8,897 were unaccompanied children. Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost told senators Wednesday that apprehension numbers were "off the charts," and she's had to divert agents to care for children detained at the border. Morning. You're listening to Cosmo's Daily News Update. After holding out on us for two whole days, Meghan and Harry finally announced the royal baby's name on Wednesday morning—and as you probably already know, it's a mouthful: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Archie! How cute! As far as I can tell, there has never been another ""Archie"" in the British royal lineup (although ""Archibald"" does make a couple of appearances).
First things first: You should know Lisa and Kaitlin recorded this episode hours before they knew the name of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor or had glimpsed his perfect little nose, but still there is plenty of joy to go around as they cover the news of his arrival, from the hospital-home birth debate to the Cambridges making dorky uncle jokes. Of course, they made time to celebrate the birthday of Princess Lottie and discuss her new portraits. The ladies are joined by Kristen Meinzer, host of When Meghan Met Harry, who wore a freakin' fascinator for the occasion. YAY!
