November 14th marks the 20th anniversary of what may be the most consequential UFO encounter of all time—the Tic Tac case. Sophisticated sensors on ships and planes in the USS Nimitz carrier group detected incursions by unknown objects over nearly two weeks. On the 15th, Navy radar operators finally locked onto one of the objects, and David Fravor, commander of the Black Aces squadron, was sent to investigate. Fravor's stunning eyewitness encounter would later become a cornerstone of the largest acknowledged UFO investigation ever funded by the U.S. government, eventually inspiring renewed global interest in the UFO mystery. The consequences are still unfolding. To mark the 20th anniversary of the Tic Tac encounter, Dave Fravor sat down with Jeremy and George to recall what he saw that day, adding details never before made public. “All the king's horses and all the king's men…” ••• Watch the three-part UFO docuseries titled UFO REVOLUTION on TUBI here : tubitv.com/series/300002259 ••• GOT A TIP? Bob Kendrick joins fans at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum's "Black Aces" exhibit for an in-depth discussion with two acclaimed authors. Sridhar Pappu discusses his book, "The Year of the Pitcher", chronicling Bob Gibson's historic 1968 season, set "against the backdrop of assassinations, while boys boarded planes to Saigon and riots swept through American cities, forever changing the fabric of this country." Then Luke Epplin sits down for a conversation about his book, "Our Team", "the story of the integration of the Cleveland Indians and their quest for a World Series title through four key participants: Bill Veeck, an eccentric and visionary owner adept at exploding fireworks on and off the field; Larry Doby, a soft-spoken, hard-hitting pioneer whose major-league breakthrough shattered stereotypes that so much of white America held about Black ballplayers; Bob Feller, a pitching prodigy from the Iowa cornfields who set the template for the athlete as businessman; and Satchel Paige, a legendary pitcher from the Negro Leagues whose belated entry into the majors whipped baseball fans across the country into a frenzy." In November 2004, one of the most powerful and sophisticated naval armadas in the world had its maneuvers repeatedly interrupted by unknown intruders. The USS Nimitz carrier group was jam-packed with high-tech sensor systems, but over a period of two weeks those sensors were repeatedly stymied by the appearance and disappearance of unidentified objects in the vicinity of the fleet. CDR David Fravor, the highly esteemed leader of the Navy's best aviators, the Strike Fighter Squadron 41 (also known as the "Black Aces”), was directed to pursue one of the mystery objects. Fravor's encounter with a craft now known as the TIC TAC UFO, might be the most important UAP incident of all time - even though the case was not formally investigated until six years later. When details about the encounter were first exposed to the public in 2017, Fravor's life changed forever. What was learned during the subsequent investigation, and why is Fravor considered by many to be the most credible UFO witness ever? Years before Fravor's story was reported by the New York Times, the veteran aviator shared the details with Jeremy and George. In this episode, WEAPONIZED revisits the TIC TAC UFO case - and the aviator whose close encounter launched a global demand for further disclosures. GOT A TIP? What does it mean to forgive, but never forget? Bob Kendrick addresses the racial slur used, and apology given, by A's broadcaster Glen Kuiper, and why he himself has chosen the path of forgiveness, while using the moment to remember the triumph over adversity of Negro Leagues baseball. Bob also takes a moment to remember his dear friend and a member of the Black Aces, the late Vida Blue, before writer, documentarian, and comedian W. Kamau Bell joins Bob for a nuanced discussion of how Blackness has been defined through the history of baseball, on the heels of Bell's HBOMax documentary "1000% Me", examining mixed race identity. Where was the line drawn for light-skinned stars like Charlie Grant or John Donaldson? And why? Did the first ever Black Major Leaguer KNOW that he was Black? And how did Blackness evolve in baseball past a skin tone, and into an entire style of play? Laugh and learn with Bob and W. Kamau Bell, as they walk through American history. Stream W. Welcome to the party, Sickos of Summer. So long as you're here, go check out The Sickos Sentinel. If you've already done that and have come here because you're a fellow Sicko, hello (it's specmotors from the Discord) and welcome to you, too! And check out our Discord, because, can you ever really have enough places to post?Anyway, you were promised a sports rabbit hole yesterday, and it is time to deliver on that promise.Since we're not going to see Edwin Díaz pitch again for quite some time (sigh), here's the list of the most strikeouts in a season, by a pitcher with 3.0 walks per nine innings or fewer, a 2.00 ERA or lower, and an FIP of 1.00 or lower. A list of 3-2-1… K, if you will.Eric Gagne, 2003 Dodgers, 137Díaz, last season, 118Craig Kimbrel, 2012 Atlanta, 116Sergio Romo, 2011 Giants, 70Devin Williams, 2020 Brewers, 53Ed Cushman, 1884 Brewers (Union Association), 47The 1884 Brewers played 12 games. Cushman pitched four of them, won all four, and gave up a total of four runs, two against the Boston Reds and two against the Baltimore Monumentals (do not get any ideas from this, Ted Leonsis).Cushman, in his career, pitched for the 1883 Buffalo Bisons in the National League, then had those four starts for Milwaukee the next year, and moved on to the American Association in 1885, pitching for both the Philadelphia A's and the New York Metropolitans – at the original Polo Grounds, the place that had actually been built for polo in 1876. It was those Metropolitans who converted the field, across the street from the northeast corner of Central Park, into a baseball park.In 1886, the Mets moved to the St. George Cricket Grounds on Staten Island, and Cushman won a career-high 17 games… while losing 21, those Mets weren't so good. Cushman was fourth in American Association pitching WAR that season, and ranked seventh in the league at 4.62 strikeouts per nine innings. Here are the Mets pitchers who had fewer than 4.62 strikeouts per nine innings last season: Nate Fisher (one strikeout in three innings, 3.0 K/9) and Darin Ruf (zero strikeouts in two innings, 0.0). Among regularly-appearing pitchers, Adonis Medina checked in at 6.5 K/9, Taijuan Walker at 7.6, and Chris Bassitt at 8.3. In 1886, the American Association leader was Matt Kilroy of the Baltimore Orioles at 7.9 (513 strikeouts in 583 innings).Kilroy completed 66 of his 68 starts, just shy of half the Orioles' 139 games – shoutout to their other two main starters, Jumbo McGinnis and Hardie Henderson. The Orioles were the only team the Mets finished ahead of that year – the St. Louis Browns won the league, then beat the National League champion Chicago White Stockings in the 1880s version of the World Series.Chicago outhomered St. Louis, 3-2, getting dingers along the way from George Gore, King Kelly, and Fred Pfeffer, but only managed a .195/.254/.300 line against St. Louis pitching in the series. The Browns, led by Canadian legend Tip O'Neill (who really went off the next season) going 8-for-20 with two triples, two homers, and four walks.Cap Anson was 5-for-21 in the series. He's the son of a bitch that Shoeless Joe and the rest of the ghosts in Field of Dreams should've told to stick it.Cushman, meanwhile, spent 1888 and 1889 out of Baseball Reference's data set, but according to Wikipedia playing in Des Moines. When the manager there, Charlie Morton, took the job managing the Toledo Maumees, Cushman returned to the American Association with him.And no, of course not that Charlie Morton, but the manager of a previous Toledo team, the Blue Stockings, that had Moses Fleetwood Walker and Weldy Walker — and whose presence on that team gave Morton a chance to be someone other than a footnote in the history of racism, as both the manager of the Walker brothers' team, and the first guy to get steamrolled by Anson's racism. Morton declined the hero role, although his Wikipedia page (this is already a tangent on a tangent, at least, but important) makes it very clear both that he had the chance and that his motivation was not racism but something even more American, dollars. On August 10, 1883 before a scheduled exhibition game, Cap Anson and his Chicago White Stockings had told Morton that his team would not play on the same field as the Walker brothers. Even though he had initially given Walker the day off due to injuries, Morton then re-inserted Moses in the game. He did this to force Anson to either play or lose his portion of the gate receipts. Anson decided to play that day, but when Chicago came to town the following year, they had already signed an agreement that the Walker brothers would not play.To be clear, Morton isn't exactly a villain here, either. Some 19th century racist comes to town with his National League team, and Morton and Toledo are in the minor league Union Association in 1883, so he bamboozles Anson — great! But he's still basically an NPC (well, not really, he was a player-manager) handing a brief L to this main character of baseball racism. In 1884, the Blue Stockings played their only year in the American Association (it wasn't promotion/relegation, just more free-flowing alignments in baseball's early days, Addy can tell you more after all that Ken Burns). Weldy — who is listed as Welday Walker in some places, but we'll go with SABR here — was fresh out of college at Michigan and a reserve for Toledo. No sweat benching him, he's already there. And Fleet was a catcher, the one position where a 19th century team would have depth, because of the necessity as they got hurt all the time. Morton could've made a stand, but it only would've hurt himself and the rest of his team — his teammates — including the Walker brothers, what with the team being run on such a shoestring that they were calling players' brothers out of college to play for them — that they were the only team even willing to play Black players — defunct by 1886.It was in 1887 that Anson really enshrined racism in baseball by refusing to play agianst Fleet Walker's team in Newark, the Little Giants, who featured a Black battery of Walker and pitcher George Stovey. The big Giants, back in New York, had an eye on Stovey, and maybe he could have been the first of MLB's Black Aces, but not in a league where the game's most influential figure was racist even by 19th century standards. Let's go to John R. Husman from SABR:Cap Anson was not entirely responsible for baseball's more than half-century of segregation, but he had a lot to do with it. The incident of August 10, 1883, in Toledo certainly brought the issue to the forefront and began an open, blatant, and successful effort to bar black players from Organized Baseball. One of the obvious effects of institutional racism is all the greatness that never gets to emerge, because it's held back. Cap Anson was a generational talent who helped set the game back about three-quarters of a century, from the Walker brothers to Pumpsie Green.(That would've been a clever little ending had I gotten it together to post this episode on St. Patrick's Day, which I did not, rather obviously. Sorry.)And now, some Midjourney art that did not become the title of this episode:And now, the actual cover art for this episode… not made with Midjourney! This is a public episode. On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we preview tonight's game against the Calgary Flames by looking at specific things we want to see from the team after the loss to Arizona. We discuss Cam Talbot's start, and why the last three starts by Marc-Andre Fleury were a chance to get him rested up and ready for a likely game 1 start next week. We look at the Power Play and Penalty Kill and why it's important tonight to just see both units look functional regardless of who is playing on them. We update on Jared Spurgeon, Mats Zuccarello and Matt Dumba, whether or not we will see them before the Postseason and where they will help the Wild most when they do return. We then speculate as to which Iowa players will make up the Black Aces for the postseason!Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: Locked On WildFollow/Subscribe Anywhere: linktr.ee/LockedOnWildFollow Locked On NHL: linktr.ee/lockedonNHLSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! | Offers from our sponsors: lockedonpodcasts.com/offersHelloFresh - Go to HelloFresh.com/lockedon16 and use code lockedon16 for up to 16 free meals AND 3 free gifts.Built Bar - Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Ep. 55 — A fighter pilot and great-granddaughter of a SciFi pioneer sees a UFO and connects with the vast community of UFO believers / Lt. Cmdr. Alex Dietrich, U.S. Navy (retired). Lt. Cmdr. Alex Dietrich was going about her business this spring, getting ready to retire from active duty as one of the first female fighter pilots in the US. Then she got an unexpected feeler from 60 Minutes, the CBS television show. The U.S. Government was preparing to release a report on Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs. Would Dietrich be willing to go on the show and talk about the strange sight that she and her four teammates had seen up in the air during a training mission back in 2004, the producer asked. Dietrich thought hard about it and decided that taxpayers needed to know more about the videos (now unclassified) that had been captured that day — videos that you all may have seen on the news over the past few weeks. That decision to go public and help remove the stigma associated with reporting strange sightings has put the introverted and media-shy Dietrich in the spotlight. It has also connected her to many UFO believers via social media - a strange spot for someone to be in for someone who is not a science fiction fan, despite a rich family history in science fiction writing. Read the Transcript Download the PDF Chitra Ragavan: US Navy Lieutenant Commander Alex Dietrich was going about her business this spring, getting ready to retire from active duty as one of the first female fighter pilots in the US. Then she got an unexpected feeler from 60 Minutes, the CBS television show. The US government was preparing to release a report on unidentified flying objects, or UFO's. Would Dietrich be willing to go on the show and talk about the strange site that she and her four teammates had seen up in the air during a training mission back in 2004? The 60 Minutes producer asked. Hello, everyone I'm Chitra Raghavan, and this is When it Mattered. Chitra Ragavan: Dietrich thought hard about it and decided that taxpayers needed to know more about the videos, now unclassified that had been captured that day, videos that you all may have seen on the news over the past few weeks. That decision to go public and help remove the stigma associated with reporting strange sightings, or inexplicable phenomena, has put the introverted and media shy Dietrich in the spotlight. It has also connected her to legions of UFO believers on social media, a rather strange spot for someone to be in who is not a science fiction fan, despite a rich family history in science fiction writing. Chitra Ragavan: Joining me is retired Lieutenant Commander Alex Dietrich. She served as an F/A-18F strike fighter pilot from the VFA-41 “Black Aces” of Lemoore, California. Dietrich retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service, having logged more than 1,250 hours and 375 carrier arrested landings. She served two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Dietrich is now serving at the National Center for Atmospheric Research on their talent learning and development team, with a mission of science and service to society. Alex, welcome to When it Mattered. Alex Dietrich: Thank you. Chitra Ragavan: Why did you decide to join the Navy and become a fighter pilot? It's a rather non-traditional career, pretty formidable barriers and a daunting challenge, in addition to putting your life on the line in service of your country? Alex Dietrich: Well, I would say that I was a typical teenager. I went to an atypical high school, it was the Illinois Math and Science Academy, but I had the typical teenage angst, and I wanted to have fun, I wanted to have an adventure. And so when college counselors and teachers were asking me what I wanted to do, I had to declare a major for college and I had to take all of these standardized tests, I said, "Oh,

It all started with a conversation about Jake's new Black Aces semi-auto shotgun. It's great and he digs it but somehow that then started a 30-minute conversation on bullpup shotguns, what they are and why people like them. We really did try to stay on topic this time, really - it seems to be harder than we thought.

Join Investigative Filmmaker Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell as he interviews Lt. Cmdr. Chad Underwood. -- Lt. Cmdr. Chad Underwood is a badass Navy Weapon Systems Officer with VFA-41 in the F/A-18 Super Hornet - with the legendary Black Aces. Underwood’s testimony represents the first time in history a military “whizzo” filmed a UFO during active operations and the encounter footage has been confirmed directly by the United States Government - as being ACTUAL. Actual film footage of an Advanced Aerospace Vehicle of unknown origin - a real UFO. Underwood’s account and footage also represents independent corroborating evidence to accompany the experience of Cmdr. David Fravor - the man who engaged a TIC TAC shaped UFO with his fighter jet for our military. The unidentified craft they observed and engaged that day - was able to outpace & outmaneuver our nation's most advanced war planes. It did in-fact “zoom off” to the left of Underwood’s wing - and it broke the lock on his ATFLIR targeting pod. Which is not an easy thing to do. It had no typical aeronautics or aerospace propulsion signatures - no tail, no wings, no exhaust plumes - and it also was able to Offensively Jam our pilots radar & weapons systems. Under the circumstances - this is considered an ACT OF WAR by the United States Department of Defense. And typically - there are consequences. However - nothing about Lt. Cmdr. Underwood’s & Cmdr. Fravor’s experiences - were typical. What you are about to hear is important. It has historic value. It’s evidence - of advanced and unknown aerospace vehicles operating in our restricted airspace - with impunity. Displaying instantaneous acceleration and impossible speeds - technology, we simply do not have. If this is not a National Security issue - I don’t know what is. Certainly, this is an existential conundrum - and it’s time we face the UFO reality head on - whatever it might represent. But let’s hear what Lt Commander Underwood has to say about it - after all - he is the man that filmed it… Go to www.ExtraordinaryBeliefs.com to learn more. Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell

Join Investigative Filmmaker Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell as he interviews Cmdr. David Fravor. -- Commander David Fravor is a badass Top Gun fighter pilot, and in 2004, the Cmdr. Officer of VFA-41 - the Black Aces. On November 14th of that year began a typical Sunday for Cmdr. Fravor. About 100 miles S/W off the coast of San Diego, it was 70 Degrees and clear skies and an average wind speed of 3 mph. But this wasn’t a typical day. Not at all. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group was preparing for deployment to the Arabian Sea, with routine pre-deployment workups. Starting on November 10th the USS Princeton had been detecting multiple AAVs (Anomalous Aerial Vehicles… UFOs), operating in and around the vicinity of the Strike Group. The vehicles of unknown origin and function were tracked on radar, with returns descending from far above the radar’s scan volume - somewhere higher than 80,000 ft. The targets would drop from above 80,000 ft to hover roughly 50 ft above the water in a matter of seconds. An impossibly fast rate of decent. And from what I’ve been told, at ICBM trajectories. On the 14th, Cmdr. Fravor launched with his WSO (Weapons & Sensors Officer), into the clear blue sky. Their Call Sign was FASTEAGLE 01. Cmdr. Fravor was flying a F/A-18F Super Hornet when he received vectors to an unknown contact. A controller on the USS Princeton with the call sign “POISEN” asked, “What ordnance do you have on board?”. This was an odd request, due to the fact Cmdr. Fravor was NOT in an active combat area, a hot-zone. He replied that he had no live ordnance. This was real-world tasking. He then preceded to the location of the contact, located it visually… and went after it. The Anomalous Aerial Vehicle outmaneuvered anything imaginable by modern / advanced human technology. The craft of undetermined origin and unknown operators… displayed flight characteristics far beyond current propulsion technology known to man or even understood within current physics. This event has become one of the best documented UFO close encounter cases in history. I’ve been working on this case for a long time, years before it became the tip of the spear about government confirmation or acknowledgment of UFOs. Before this case was publicly known, I was hunting for the truth and establishing dialogue with the key witnesses involved… most of which I have never spoken about publicly. Cmdr. David Fravor is included in that. Over that time we have developed a rapport, and this interview is an important aspect of my efforts to find detailed clarity on this case… extinguishing the noise and raising the signal. Cmdr. Fravor IS the primary witness to this astonishing UFO event series. Over the years, I have come to understand and appreciate his integrity, professionalism, humor and candor. We should listen to what Cmdr. Fravor has to say, as his testimony has become part of the fabric of our time. Cmdr. Fravor is the real deal; and that’s just something you’re gonna have to come to terms with. As you will recall, on December 21st, 2017 there was a tectonic shift in secrecy around the subject of UFOs. The Department of Defense authorized two videos of fighter pilots engaging UFOs to be released to the public, and the New York times published a story about our government’s involvement in studying the subject. One of those videos was of the UFO Cmdr. David Fravor saw and chased. Go to www.ExtraordinaryBeliefs.com to learn more. Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell

Join Investigative Filmmaker Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell as he interviews Trevor. Trevor was a radar operator, and a direct witnesses to one of the most current and well documented UFO encounters in modern history. On December 21st, 2017 there was a tectonic shift in secrecy around the subject of UFOs. The Department of Defense authorized two videos of fighter pilots engaging UFOs to be released to the public, and the New York times published a story about our government’s involvement in studying the subject. The 2004 Nimitz “Tic Tac” UFO encounters became the tip of the spear in the public debate on UFOs. Commander David Fravor, a fighter pilot with the Black Aces, came forward with his experiences and testimony. There were a number of individuals during the events, who were aware of what was unfolding… Trevor is one of them. More and more witnesses are coming forward to date. For those of you who remember, the Tic Tac UFO case is one that Corbell reported on, on Coast to Coast AM with George Knapp, both in May and October of 2017. This UFO case was on his radar for years prior, and Corbell took time to build a small network of witnesses involved in this unique, military UFO event series. The story is now out, and the pieces are being put together by the public. And the news continues to explode, and be understood around the world. Government footage from active UFO engagements. Trevor’s testimony is unique, and as you will hear, he was exposed to footage from the event series that sounds a bit different than what is now in the public realm. Corbell is just reporting the news, it’s up to you to make sense of it all. Weaponize your curiosity and learn more at www.ExtraordinaryBeliefs.com

DBG VIP and Decibel Geek writer, Steven Michael, joins Chris and Aaron for Under the ACDC Influence; a deep dive into bands that were influenced by the Australian hard rock giants. Steve and the guys discuss their love for ACDC, the evidence of their influence on rock and roll history, and spin a bunch of tracks by a bunch of bands that were influenced by Angus Young and company. Many fads come and go, and with them so do many bands. What is the flavor of the week will soon be a punchline to a joke told decades later. ACDC never fell into that trap. Through numerous trends including Prog Rock, Punk Rock, Disco, New Wave, Glam Metal, and Grunge, the Australian-born legends stayed the course; continuing to pump out headbanging, hooky rock n roll. This consistency has produced an influence that has transcended multiple generations of fans. Under the ACDC Influence In this jam packed episode you'll get tracks from Jackyl, Four Horsemen, Voodoo Piston, Ugly Kid Joe, The Treatment, Rhino Bucket, Koritni, Black Aces, Airbourne, Dirty Looks, ACCEPT, Guns N Roses, Rose Tattoo, 77, and Krokus! Round 3 Black Aces - There were a few dark days when Erika was v. sad and Deb broke up with hockey, but we’ve rallied and are back to talk about the heartbreak of Round 2 and the miles that separate the narratives of the Oilers and Capitals. We also touch on what’s happening the Men’s World Championship, France’s Cinderella story, and how the Flyers’ players can’t stop punching Captain Claude Giroux. And sure, Ben Bishop’s signing with the Dallas Stars is fun, but not as much fun as the convoluted way that Dallas gained a second first round pick. (Hint: Math and Magic.) In a SUPER RARE “What The Puck” and “#OldHockey” crossover we explain both the use and history of the term “Black Aces”. Finally, Erika closes out the show with a warm and fuzzy hockey tidbit: the handshake line. How are you surviving the playoffs, fam? Find us on Twitter and let us know your coping strategies.
