Boomer said there are a lot of rusty bridges in NJ. We talked more about the Rangers loss and took calls from people who wanted Matt Rempe to get in there and get physical. Boomer thinks there's something wrong with Adam Fox as he's not moving the way he normally does. He injured his knee during the Capitals series and hasn't been the same since. Jerry returned for an update and said, ‘on the scale of miserable around here, I don't even register'. Jerry has all the sounds from last night's Rangers loss in game 1. The Yankees beat the Mariners thanks to a HR by Aaron Judge and 2 homeruns from Juan Soto. In the final segment of the hour, Gio is surprised at how well Kyrie Irving has performed with the Mavericks. He thought he would blow up the Mavs and go down in flames, and it's been the exact opposite.
Hour 1 The Rangers dropped game 1 at the Garden 3-0 to the Panthers. There seemed to be a lack of energy in the building. Fans and Mark Messier seem to want Matt Rempe in the lineup for a spark. The Rangers gave up a soft goal, deflected one into their own net and the last was an empty netter. The Rangers had 2 breakaways and came away with nothing. Boomer felt like Florida was smothering the Rangers. Boomer is also annoyed at the way ESPN is shooting these games. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with all of the sounds from the Rangers loss to the Panthers. The Yankees beat the Mariners as Juan Soto hit 2 homeruns. We asked Jerry to rank the Yankees play by play guys. Adam Schein told the Pacers, ‘bag it, losers'. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer said the Rangers never got on track offensively. Gio thinks Matt Rempe may be overrated at this point and everyone seems to keep calling for him to be on the ice. Hour 2 Boomer said there are a lot of rusty bridges in NJ. Hour 3 The MSG crowd was criticized for not being loud enough last night. The Rangers will have to make adjustments and we'll see if they change the lineup. A Devils fan calls to annoy Boomer. A Rangers fan calls to yell at Devils fans. We are golfing today but it seems like we are going to hit severe thunderstorms. Gio said he's fascinated by tornados. Jerry returned for an update but first we took some calls from Rangers and Devils fans. Jerry has all the sounds from last night's Rangers loss. The Yanks won again and the Mets lost again. In the final segment of the hour, we are playing golf later today but the weather is not looking good. Hour 4 Boomer is frustrated when the Rangers lose and annoyed at things like Igor giving up a soft goal. Boomer expected this series to go seven games before it even started. Jerry returns for an update and has audio of Shaun Morash calling Matt Martin a ‘punk ass'. He also called him a ‘has been, never was'. The Yankees beat the Mariners as Juan Soto hit 2 homeruns and Aaron Judge hit one as well. Jerry plays ‘what's that sound'. Jerry went around the NBA last night. We talked about Caitlin Clark's impact on the WNBA. Charles Barkley defended Clark as she's getting a lot of haters. The Moment of The Day involves Adam Schein telling the Pacers to ‘bag it, losers'. In the final segment of the show, we finished up with some calls on the Rangers game 1 loss and the lack of energy from the Garden crowd.
Boomer thinks there's something wrong with Adam Fox as he's not moving the way he normally does. He injured his knee during the Capitals series and hasn't been the same since.
Jeff and Greg Wyshynski kick off the show breaking down how the Rangers current roster was built. They discuss the importance of Adam Fox and Artemi Panarin wanting to come to New York, before teeing up tonight's Eastern Conference Finals matchup between the Panthers and Rangers. Later on, they weigh in on the Canucks' playoff exit, how Vancouver fans should be feeling right now, if the Oilers can defeat the Stars, and much more. Locked On Capitals - Daily Podcast On The Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals' season came to an abrupt and disappointing end tonight as they were swept in four games by the New York Rangers in the first round of the NHL playoffs. After defying expectations all regular season long by clawing their way into the postseason despite an aging roster, lack of depth, and trading away key players at the deadline, the Caps ultimately fell flat when it mattered most.Right from the opening puck drop of Game 1, it was clear this series would be uphill battle for Washington. A careless giveaway by defenseman Nick Jensen led directly to an early Rangers goal setting the tone. The Capitals seemed undisciplined and unfocused, taking unnecessary penalties and allowing multiple power play goals. Despite Alex Ovechkin typically elevating his game in the playoffs, the captain was held scoreless and mostly ineffective against New York's smothering defense. Meanwhile, the Rangers young stars like Kaapo Kakko and Adam Fox outworked and outhustled the Caps. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin also thoroughly outplayed Washington's Charlie Lindgren. Besides a few sparks from the team's rookies, the Caps generated little offense and lacked the desperation needed to extend the series. Ovechkin was never able to make his typical impact, culminating in him being held pointless for the first time in 15 career playoff appearances. A late game misconduct penalty on T.J. Oshie seemed to seal the Caps' fate. While there were some promising performances from Washington's youth like Hendrix Lapierre and Martin Fehervary, it simply wasn't enough to overcome the lackluster play of the team's veterans. The early playoff exit calls into question what moves the Capitals will make this offseason to revamp their aging core into true contenders once again. For now, a disappointing end to a once-promising season.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Monopoly GO!Get in the game and join your friends. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, we start with ESPN's Best NHL Defensemen in 2024. For what seems like the first time in his career, Miro Heiskanen is ranked right where he should be. He's certainly not played up to the level of Cale Makar or Quinn Hughes this season, but as an all around defensemen he's one of the best. He comes in at #3 in this year's ranking behind those two and ahead of Adam Fox and Charlie Mcavoy. This is a great sign due to the fact Heiskanen is having a down year offensively. His skill set other than just his point production are putting the league on notice! The Dallas Stars face the Ottawa Senators tonight in game three of a four game road trip. The Sens have not had a good year and the Stars won in the first matchup. Dallas needs a win on this road trip and this is their best shot. Also, Joey gives his crack at another Shooting Star, he has been perfect since All-Star weekend, can he do it again? The final segment looks at the Stanley Cup odds for the Dallas Stars. As it currently sits, the Stars have the 3rd best odds to win the Stanley Cup according to The Athletic. Do you believe that is too high, too low or just right??
