My guest today is Adam Krinsky a Mixer/Engineer in Minneapolis, MN. He owns and runs a studio in St. Paul, MN called Bellows. In his 15 years of music, he has been a Producer, Engineer, Mixer, FOH Mixer, Tour Manager, Manager, and Educator. Adam's career started after graduating from the Institute of Production and Recording in Minneapolis. He was hired by the owner and co-founder Tom Tucker as his assistant engineer at Master Mix Studios. In parallel to working in a big fancy studio, he was also moonlighting in a small punk rock basement studio called Vaudeville. A million dollar studio during the day, a Mackie and 57's at night. Krinsky started working at a local guitar shop called Twin Town Guitars which is where he met many of the local musicians. In 2006 he recorded and mixed an album called A Detail of Soldiers by The Alarmists which received local recognition. Since he has never been without a project to mix. Over the years Adam has worked on albums for artists like Bo Ramsey, Mason Jennings, The Pines, Kill The Vultures, Sadistik, and Peter Wolf Crier to name a few. These artists range in genre's from Blues and Folk to Hip-Hop to Indie Rock. Somewhere along the way, he was asked to go on the road. Reluctantly he eventually tried it out and found a second passion in touring. He's since mixed FOH for artists like Iris DeMent, Mason Jennings, Har Mar Superstar, Marijuana Deathsquads, The Pines, and Trampled by Turtles to name a few. He has also taught at a few recording schools and was a field mixer for the 6th Season of Jersey Shore. These days Krinsky is either mixing in his studio or on tour with Trampled by Turtles. Iowa troubadour and multi media artist Chad Elliott is back for his second Tasty Brew Music podcast episode. He is one of the most gifted people I've ever encountered during my many years of supporting the arts. His songs have been a mainstay of the Tasty Brew Music Radio Show since it's inception in 2010. As a reminder… or by way of introduction… Chad has an academic background in the fine arts and is an accomplished painter, sculptor and illustrator. He is a prolific songwriter and accomplished guitar picker. As you'll hear in this conversation, all of his artistic skills were brought to bear in order to survive and thrive during the Covid-19 pandemic. Chad celebrated the release in May 2021 of his 25thfull length album – “Singing River”…a dream project recorded with some of the original “Swampers” Spooner Oldham and David Hood at the iconic Fame Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals Alabama… the place where music legends Etta James, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and many others laid down some of the most renowned songs in popular music. He traveled to Muscle Shoals with famed Iowa musician and producer Bo Ramsey who lent his signature sound on guitar. The new Americana/roots/blues mix that arose in Singing River is exactly the sound Chad was hoping to create. Chad believes, as I do, that it is possible to survive and thrive in the Heartland as a creative generative artist. He walks that walk and talks that talk every single day. Enjoy my conversation with my friend … Chad Elliott.

Kevin Gordon's narrative began in Monroe, Louisiana, where he "grew up the son of well-intentioned, but backsliding parents. I was a very confused young man." Like many other children of the 1970s who fit that description, Gordon wrote poetry and discovered skate-boarding and punk rock despite being weaned on the region's early rock, blues, honky-tonk and rockabilly sounds. He sang in a high school band whose repertoire was entirely Ramones and Sex Pistols covers. But his own fusion of words and music ignited after a girlfriend's parents gave him a guitar and he discovered the more literate and worldly compositions of the influential Los Angeles roots-punk outfit X.In the late-'80s Gordon moved to Iowa City, where he studied poetry and graduated with a masters degree from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. At the same time, he became indoctrinated in the world of the working musician. Gordon graduated from blues jams to playing guitar in a regionally touring band led by Bo Ramsey. When Ramsey took a hiatus, Gordon began fronting his own group and writing his own songs, which he's continued to do for more than 20 years. It helps for a songwriter to love music and language. Gordon lives for that collision. For his latest collection, 'Long Gone Time,' Gordon returns to his native Louisiana for inspiration - and that feeling that you can go home, but change is inevitable. Listen to performances and conversations captured at Beehive Studios in Saranac Lake, New York.Accompanied by Steph Graham on bass and backing vocals.

Pieta Brown says that she didn't find the guitar, the guitar found her. The daughter of singer/songwriter Greg Brown, Pieta wrote her first song when she was only three years old. She's come a long way since then, earning a reputation for song crafting. Her most recent CD, 'Paradise Outlaw,' was created with the collaboration of stand-out artists including Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, who also provided Pieta use of his recording studio for the album. The creative restlessness that drives 'Paradise Outlaw' has been a constant in Pieta Brown's life. Born in Iowa, she lived in at least 17 different residences in multiple states during her youth. Her parents separated when she was two, but she grew up surrounded by artists and musicians, absorbing all manner of bohemian artistic influences. By the age of eight, she was writing poetry and instrumental music on the piano, eventually picking up the guitar and merging the two into songs.Pieta visited the Folk Alley studios in Kent, Ohio in November of 2014, with Bo Ramsey joining her on guitar. There's no particular place to go in this edition of The Roadhouse - no real plan or theme. There is, however, a solid hour of blues with a surprise around every corner. I've got Lonnie Brooks, Hubert Sumlin, Dave Gross, Bo Ramsey, Erja Lyytinen - just an indication of the variety of artists in the 180th Roadhouse. They may be diverse, but the artists all fit together nicely to form another hour of the finest blues you've never heard - the 180th Roadhouse Podcast.

The 152nd Roadhouse heads down the road to destinations unknown, stopping at every little greasy spoon along the way. The blue plate special this week includes Big George Jackson, Hubert Sumlin, Bee Houston, Z-Da, and Bo Ramsey. Of course, a great meal doesn't happen with morsels alone. There's plenty of other sustenance on the plate to fill you up in this, the 152nd hour of the finest blues you've never heard.

For the fourth week in a row, the temperatures outside The Roadhouse Studios are well into the 90s, with no less than 80% humidity. In fact, the entire US is gripped in a heat wave that just won't stop. But, the 76th Roadhouse Podcast is like the ice cubes in your sweet sun tea. Bo Ramsey, Boogie Woogie Red, W.C. Clark, Coco Montoya, and Glamour Puss are the cool oases in the heat. With opressive and unchanging weather around The Little Blue House on the Wetlands this week, the summer plan remains unchanged - delivering the full range of blues: the finest blues you've never heard.

It's the 75th edition of The Roadhouse Podcast - the diamond edition. And, diamonds are a fitting analogy. The world outside The Roadhouse creates great pressure, pushing out all but the purest blues carbon. The result is music that's as tough and beautiful as the world's hardest mineral. This week, the carbon is comprised of Debbie Davies, Bo Ramsey, Steve Arvey, Henry Gray, and Gonstermachers. The Roadhouse Rewound segment will definitely have your toes tapping. And, for the second week in a row, we have audio comments from a Roadhouse listener. Like any good diamond would, the 75th Roadhouse Podcast will leave you with a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye.
