Starlight Thursdays Episode 254 featuring a live recording of BK Love performing at The Top Hat. This was my first time DJing at this legendary venue—a place where I've danced to countless shows over the years and always dreamed of being on that stage. Getting to open the night for Chase Bjornson and Kapture was an absolute honor and a ton of fun. This mix dives deep into the style I've been curating lately—maybe I should call it the Jungle Boogie vibe. With our long, cold winters in western Montana, I find it essential to bring some sunshine into the dark season. Lately, nothing has been moving me like hand drums, brass horns, and catchy melodies—sounds that transport us thousands of miles from our mountain paradise into the depths of the jungle. Latin, Afro, and tropical rhythms have been my biggest inspirations, and this mix is a reflection of that energy. Many DJs describe their sets as a journey, and this is no different—but this isn't just any journey. This is a first-class ride to some of the most remote places on Earth, where music has ancient roots and sound is a living, breathing spirit. To fully absorb what this mix has to offer, you'll need to step slightly outside your comfort zone. Safety is only an illusion in the jungle. This is an adventure, and when you return, you won't be the same. I'll be your guide. Together, we dance—with courage in our hearts and pride in our people. - BK Love - For more BK Love, come to the Zebra Bozeman 2/28/25 for a live DJ set, or check out this playlist with more live recordings taken from music festivals to club nights https://on.soundcloud.com/jQixWxMY79oNSeAN7
On the twenty-second day of beervent, Higher Gravity gave to us…Jungle Boogie Pale Wheat Ale with Rooibos ReaMarz Community Brewing Co. - Chicago, ILABV: 5.7% “Jungle Boogie isn't your typical wheat beer–which is why it consistently ranks among the top wheat beers in the country. Instead of a light and bready cracker profile, Jungle Boogie uses a grain bill of mixed wheat to provide a body of light caramel and amber sweetness. That sweetness provides the platform for the fruity Rooibos tea to build a tower full of ripe stone fruit. Finishing the fermentation with a minimal dry hop of Mosaic further buttresses the fruity characteristics of the tea, while providing a lightning rod to unite the whole with a vibrant current of bright flavor. Light and colorful, Jungle Boogie is the perfect beer to pair with almost any dish and a welcome libation to both longtime fans of craft beer as well as those averse to overly malty or hoppy brews."About the Craft Parenting PodcastThe Craft Parenting Podcast is hosted by Joe and Caroline, two Cincinnati parents who are also craft beer enthusiasts. La Kool. lKool had always envisioned having his own brand out of Europe. For many years, he sought out Grand Cru Vineyards from owners that have been selling for generations and decided to work with Paul Berthelot, a Multi-Vintage Grand Cru Producer since 1884. Kool & the Gang, officially launched in 1969, after performing for five years under various band titles, has influenced the music of three generations and the band has become true recording industry legends. Thanks to iconic songs like Celebration, Cherish, Jungle Boogie, Summer Madness and Open Sesame, they've earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albumsIn 1969, Kool & the Gang released their self-titled debut album/ It was the introduction to a theme, music is the message, that Kool & the Gang stands by today. The instrumental album was an expression of their deep love of music. It was also an introduction to their signature sound and the fierce horn arrangements created by Khalis, Dee Tee, and Spike. Their debut album spawned their first Billboard R&B charted single Kool & the Gang and later Let the Music Take Your Mind. In 1970, their audacious sophomore set Live at the Sex Machine peaked at #6 on Billboard's R&B chart and yielded three hit singles: Funky Man, Who's Gonna Take the Weight, and I Want to Take You Higher. Next came The Best Of Kool & the Gang Featuring The Penguin, Kool & the Gang Live at PJ'S, Music Is The Message, and Good Times, all of which helped solidify a sound that wowed not only fans but such contemporaries as James Brown and Nina Simone.e 80's would see them dominate the mainstream, starting with the double platinum-selling album Celebrate (driven by the international monster hit Celebration, which spent six weeks atop the R&B chart and became a #1 Pop single). The smashes Get Down On It, Take My Heart, Let's Go Dancing, Joanna, Tonight, Misled, the #1 R&B, #2 Pop giant Cherish and the #1 R&B anthem Fresh (these last three from the multi- platinum LP Emergency) solidified the group's international stardom. Kool & the Gang landed global commercial endorsements, supported countless charitable causes and were the only American group to participate in Band Aid's 1984 Do They Know It's Christmas project for famine victims in Africa. With the explosion of hip-hop in the 90's, Kool & the Gang's incredible catalog of grooves made them DJ favorites. They were second only to R&B icon James Brown as sources of rap music samples. ** PLEASE SUBSCRIBE ** It's the world premiere episode of Where'd You Get Your Funk From! Featured in WYGYFF Episode 1: Legendary bassist and leader of one of the most successful funk, R&B and pop bands of all time – Robert "Kool" Bell of Kool & the Gang! He is the last original surviving member of a band that was founded 55 years ago – notching 25 Top 10 R&B hits, 31 gold & platinum-selling albums and 7 Grammy Awards along the way – and recorded classics like “Jungle Boogie,” “Hollywood Swinging,” “Funky Stuff,” “Summer Madness,” “Spirit of the Boogie,” “Open Sesame,” “Ladies Night,” “Celebration,” “Too Hot,” “Get Down on It” and dozens more. This year, Kool and the Gang is FINALLY being inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. RECORDED SEPTEMBER 2024 Hosted by Scott "DR GX" Goldfine — musicologist, author of “Everything Is on the One: The First Guide of Funk” and creator/host of the popular TRUTH IN RHYTHM podcast — "Where'd You Get Your Funk From?" is the latest interview show brought to you by FUNKNSTUFF.NET. Where'd You Get Your Funk From (WYGYFF) is an open format video and audio podcast focusing on the here and now, with a broad range of creative and artistic guests sharing fascinating stories, experiences, and perspectives. WYGYFF is a welcoming avenue to newer and independent musical acts as well as established and still active musicians of any genre; authors; filmmakers; actors; artists; collectors and archivists; radio & podcast personalities; journalists; scholars; sound techs; promoters; photographers; and other creative people. A common thread, is the show's standard opening question: Where'd you get your funk from? This is much deeper than it may seem as the answer need not be strictly about funky music, as not everyone has found the funk. It could hit on whatever type of music touches their soul or pleasure centers. Additionally, the question extends beyond music. Paraphrasing George Clinton, funk is whatever it needs to be to get you over the hump. Thus, guests can explain where they got their grit, perseverance, inspiration, talent, creativity, character or other qualities that shaped them into who they are today. This serves as a springboard into candid, in-depth and engrossing conversations. LEGAL NOTICE: All video and audio content protected by copyright. It's getting colder now but that doesn't mean we don't want to put away the summer quite yet. We get fruity this episode with two very different types of fruit foward beers. La Calavera Jungle Boogie is a mixed fermented sour ale aged in oak barrels. It's an aggressive sour ale that reminds us of our favorite flemmish ales. Arpus Cherry Red Currant Apricot Vanilla Sour Ale is all those things. Arpus puts out great fruited beers that go more towards the pastry style. It's an intense fruit experience that goes down really smooth. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #fruitbeer #wildale #barrelaged

Story by: Gail NoblesPodcast cover art by: Gail NoblesToday I want to talk to you about Kool and the Gang and their album “Spirit of the Boogie”, and the album cover. Spirit of the Boogie is a six studio album by Kool and the Gang released in 1975. The sound of the music single reminds me of Jungle Boogie. You can hear Donald Boyce who was rapping on Jungle Boogie. I'm checking out the artwork on the album cover of Spirit of the Boogie. Its done by Frank Daniel (3). He is an art director and graphic designer on the record cover of the album Spirit of the Boogie. There are two side view green faces and the image of a woman in the middle. When I look at the woman, I think of dance. The two green faces makes me think of the spirit of boogie. The art reminds me of art I've seen for disco music. The words and colors look like art or the 1970s music style. I suppose when Frank Daniel made the art he was inspired by the music. Kool and the Gang is large with the music they have alto saxophone, bass drums, tenor saxophone, synthesizer, trombone, trumpet, guitar, and piano. You can hear it all in the music. They are a big band. I don't see many music bands today. I'm Gail Nobles. Today's topic: Kool and the Gang - Spirit of the Boogie.
For over fifty years, Kool & the Gang have been essential innovators of funk, soul, disco, and R&B, creating rock & roll's most danceable anthems. They are one of the grooviest and most sampled bands of all time, with a recognizable sound that resonates across generations and has brought joy to millions of fans around the globe.Kool & the Gang took their funky groove all the way to the top with a mix of pop songwriting, fantastic vocals, and a killer horn section. Formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964, brothers Robert "Kool" and Ronald Bell got their start in clubs, mastering a repertoire of jazz standards and Motown covers. In 1969, they signed to newly formed De-Lite Records and released the up-tempo instrumental "Kool & the Gang." They subsequently released two live albums showcasing their ability to produce brilliantly crafted songs and blistering jams over an infectious beat. Their big break came in 1973 with the album Wild and Peaceful, which leaned deep into funky grooves, horn arrangements, and chanted vocals on the songs "Funky Stuff," "Jungle Boogie," and "Hollywood Swinging" - three instant dance floor classics. They slid easily into the growing disco scene, with their "Open Sesame" featured on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. In the 1980s, Kool & the Gang added lead vocalist James "J.T." Taylor and released two massive hits, the bumping "Ladies Night" and the smooth "Too Hot." With this, they accomplished something rare in the music industry - maintaining the fans who loved their funky roots, while reaching an entirely new audience tuned into their growing pop sensibilities. In 1980, they blew the roof off with the international hit "Celebration" and produced nineteen charting singles during the decade. Kool & the Gang's impact cannot be understated - from the throwback grooves of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars to the inclusion of the group's songs in almost every party playlist. Countless samples of their music laid the foundation for some of hip-hop's biggest hits by artists including Eric B. & Rakim, Tupac, Lil' Kim, and JAY-Z. On the version of Hot off the Wire posted Nov. 20 at 7 a.m. CT: ATLANTA (AP) — Former first lady Rosalynn Carter has died at the age of 96. The Carter Center in Atlanta announced that the wife of former President Jimmy Carter died Sunday afternoon at her home in Plains, Georgia, with her family at her side. Rosalynn Carter was married to Jimmy Carter for more than 77 years, and both said she was the more political of the pair. Unlike many previous first ladies, Rosalynn Carter sat in on Cabinet meetings and spoke out on controversial issues. President Carter even sent her on a trip to Latin America to tell dictators he meant what he said on human rights. Together, Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter also co-founded The Carter Center to continue their work. KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has made an unannounced visit to Kyiv. He arrived Monday in what is expected to be a high-profile push to keep money and weapons flowing to Ukraine even as U.S. and international resources are stretched by the new global risks raised by the Israel-Hamas conflict. Austin traveled to Kyiv by train from Poland. He is scheduled to meet with senior Ukrainian officials and publicly press Ukraine's urgent military needs as it enters another tough winter of fighting. U.S. officials said Austin intended to tell Ukrainian officials that American support for Kyiv's effort to defeat Russia's invasion forces is steadfast and will continue. KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israeli forces are pressing their offensive against Hamas in northern Gaza. They are battling militants around a hospital where thousands of patients and displaced people have been sheltering for weeks, raising Palestinian fears of another painful standoff and evacuation of a medical facility. A medical worker inside the Indonesian Hospital and the Health Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said Monday that a shell struck the second floor of the facility, killing at least 12 people. Both blamed Israeli forces. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military. The advance came a day after the World Health Organization evacuated 31 premature babies from Shifa Hospital. At least 28 were transported to Egypt on Monday. Millions are expected to travel for the holidays. Wind, snow and rain could be problematic for travelers across the Northeast, according to the National Weather Service. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is spending part of his 81st birthday observing the White House tradition of pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys. The gobblers receiving executive clemency at a ceremony Monday are named Liberty and Bell. The 20-week-old, 42-pound birds were hatched and bred in Willmar, Minnesota, by the Jennie-O turkey company for the occasion. The turkey pardon ceremony marks the unofficial start of the holiday season in Washington and it will be an especially busy day for the White House. In addition to celebrating the president's birthday, Jill Biden also welcomes delivery of an 18-and-a-half-foot Fraser fir from North Carolina as the official White House Christmas tree. LOS ANGELES (AP) — An elevated Los Angeles freeway closed by a Nov. 11 arson fire has reopened ahead of Monday morning's commute. That's at least a day earlier than previously announced and weeks ahead of the original estimate. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Sunday that inspections showed it's safe to reopen shortly after crews worked round the clock for days to shore up about 100 support columns. Newsom said the freeway would be “fully operational” before Monday's rush hour. An estimated 300,000 vehicles a day use the east-west freeway crossing the heart of Los Angeles. Vice President Kamala Harris joined Newsom and city Mayor Karen Bass for Sunday's announcement. SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea's military has warned North Korea not to go ahead with its planned spy satellite launch. A senior officer suggested Monday that South Korea could suspend an inter-Korean agreement to reduce tensions and resume front-line aerial surveillance in response. North Korea's first two attempts to put a spy satellite into space failed and its promised third attempt has been delayed. South Korean officials say the delay likely was because North Korea is receiving Russian technology assistance and a launch could happen in coming days. The U.N. Security Council bans any satellite launches by North Korea because it views them as a disguised test of its missile technology. Sugar prices are soaring in many places. That's largely due to production shortfalls in key exporters India and Thailand that are partly blamed on the El Nino. The U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization is predicting a 2% decline in production this year. Increasingly, sugar is being used for biofuels like ethanol, so global sugar buffer stocks are at their lowest since 2009. The Lions rally from down two scores late to beat the Bears, Matthew Stafford's return helps the Rams end their three-game losing streak, the Broncos ends the Vikings' winning streak, a LeBron James free throw gives the Lakers a win over the Rockets, and Aaron Nola decides to stay with the Phillies. “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” tops the North American box office in its first weekend in theaters. The $44 million in ticket sales the film earned is a new low for the franchise. It always opened over $100 million in its Jennifer Lawrence days. The animated “Trolls Band Together” opened in second place with $30.6 million, while “The Marvels” fell a record 78% in its second weekend. Taika Waititi's soccer comedy “Next Goal Wins” and the slasher “Thanksgiving” also opened in wide release over the busy, pre-Thanksgiving weekend. NEW YORK (AP) — Sean “Diddy” Combs and singer Cassie say they have settled a lawsuit containing allegations of beatings and abuse by the powerful music producer. The settlement was announced on Friday in a statement from an attorney for Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Ventura. It comes one day after the lawsuit was filed. The statement says Combs and Ventura have reached a deal to their “mutual satisfaction." No terms of the agreement have been disclosed. Ventura and Combs both issued statements. The statement from Ventura's lawyer says no further statements will be issued. RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Taylor Swift has postponed a concert in Rio de Janeiro after a 23-year-old fan died during her Friday night show. The singer said in a handwritten note posted Saturday on Instagram that the decision was made due to the extremely hot weather in the Brazilian city. “The safety and well being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first,” Swift wrote in the message posted on Instagram. The cause of death for Ana Clara Benevides Machado has not yet been announced. But concertgoers complained they were not allowed to take water into Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium despite the soaring temperatures in Rio on Friday. RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer statue was illuminated with a welcome to Brazil message for Taylor Swift. It was thanks to an act of charity by Swift fans orchestrated by the Catholic sanctuary that manages the world's most famous Christ statue. The colossal monument donned a projected white “Welcome to Brazil” T-shirt honoring the singer's latest leg of her Eras Tour. The initiative was launched after a request from Taylor Swift fans. The priest who runs the Christ statue then dared Swifties to donate for a good cause in return for their request. The statue was lit Thursday night after Swifties met the goal and helped fundraise for 20,000 panettones and water for the Catholic Church's World Day of the Poor, which will be marked on Sunday. NEW YORK (AP) — George Brown, the co-founder and longtime drummer of Kool & The Gang who helped write such hits as “Too Hot,” “Ladies Night,” “Joanna” and the party favorite “Celebration,” has died at age 74. A statement from Universal Music says Brown died Thursday in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer. Kool & The Gang has sold millions of records with its catchy blend of jazz, funk and soul, what Brown liked to call “the sound of happiness.” Brown helped launch the Grammy-winning group in 1964. Kool & the Gang broke through in the mid-1970s with “Jungle Boogie” among others songs and peaked in the late '70s and mid-1980s, with such hits as “Cherish” and “Celebration.” —The Associated Press About this program Host Terry Lipshetz is a senior producer for Lee Enterprises. Formed as a jazz ensemble in the mid-'60s, Kool & the Gang became one of the most inspired and influential funk units during the '70s, and one of the most popular R&B groups of the '80s after their breakout hit "Celebration." Just as funky as James Brown or Parliament (and sampled almost as frequently), Kool & the Gang relied on their jazz backgrounds and long friendship to form a tightly knit group. Their 21 Top 40 hits display a huge range, from the tough funk of "Jungle Boogie," to the smooth instrumental soul of "Summer Madness," to the lively pop of "Joanna." They hit the Top Ten of the R&B chart with several albums that include the gold Wild and Peaceful in 1973, the all platinum Ladies' Night in 79, Celebrate in 80, Something Special in 81 and Emergency in 84. Since the '90s, Kool & The Gang have focused most on touring, but they've released several original albums during this time too - the latest of which is People Just Wanna Have Fun in 2023. Our guest today is ROBERT 'KOOL' BELL who with his brother Ronald, founded the group. The boys grew up in Jersey City and picked up the music bug from their father, who was a professional boxer. The duo formed the Jazziacs in 1964 with several neighbourhood friends: they soon renamed themselves the Soul Town Band and began playing clubs in Greenwich Village. After a mix-up with a club owner resulted in the group being billed Kool & the Flames, (and in order to not offend James Brown) they changed their name to Kool & the Gang and quickly became a success on the R&B charts. It was with their 6th album, Wild and Peaceful that Kool & the Gang hit the big time. "Funky Stuff" became their first Top 40 hit at the end of 1973. Then both "Jungle Boogie" and "Hollywood Swinging" reached the Top Ten. Over the next four years, Kool & the Gang delivered a Grammy-nominated recording and scored several Top 40 hits. Their hit "Open Sesame appeared on the Grammy-winning film soundtrack Saturday Night Fever. However, after this, the rise of disco stalled their popularity. In 1979, the group added two new vocalists, Earl Toon Jr and former Jersey nightclub singer James J.T Taylor. Kool & the Gang also began working with Brazilian jazz fusion arranger/producer Eumir Deodato who produced them from 1979 to 1982. Their first album together, Ladies Night was their biggest hit yet, the first of three consecutive platinum albums, with the Top Ten singles "Too Hot" and the title track. Celebrate was released in 1979 and spawned Kool & the Gang's only number one hit, "Celebration," an anthem favoured by thousands at ball games, wedding receptions and even astronauts in space. The group produced several more hits, including the single "Get Down on It." Between 1983 and 1985, the band had a pair of number two hits with "Joanna" and "Cherish.” Kool & The Gang remained a going concern throughout the 2000s, teaming up with many younger artists. Fellow co-founders Ronald Bell and Dennis D.T Thomas both passed away in 2020 and 2021, respectively. The album "Perfect Union" was completed with both musicians and was released during the latter year. It was promoted with extensive touring, including performances in 2022 with the German Philharmonic Orchestra. Just ahead of their 60thanniversary, Kool & the Gang quickly returned in 2023 with the album "People Just Wanna Have Fun" led by the single "Let's Party." Kool & The Gang remain the most sampled group in the world. Their longevity is a testament to their talents and Robert ‘Kool' Bell fills us in on all the ins and outs of their journey this week. Their list of hits is endless. Songs including Celebration, Ladies Night, Get Down on It, Cherish, Jungle Boogie, Too Hot and many more make Kool and the Gang the most sampled artists in Hip Hop. The band formed in 1964 and continues to perform with 2 of its original members including Robert "Kool" Bell. Kool and the Gang will be performing at Mable House Amphitheater in Cobb County on Saturday, September 16th. Founder Robert Bell dishes the dirt and talks the hits with Condace Pressley on this episode of Perspectives.
Sure, Madonna was always changing, but with the release of Erotica on Oct. 20, 1992, she fully shed her ebullient '80s pop skin, donned a leather cat mask, and kicked open a rusty back alley door that previous chart-toppers only dared to scratch at. You didn't need to pick up a copy of her celebrity nude-filled coffee table book, Sex, to realize it. You didn't even need to see Madonna Veronica Louise Ciccone, whip in hand, mugging for the camera in the video for the title track. All you needed to do was press play on the album and let the impossibly thick, libidinous bass line of “Erotica” start vibrating throughout your body. Forty seconds in, the sampled horns of Kool & the Gang's “Jungle Boogie” flare up, but instead of sounding reassuring and familiar, they seem disembodied and eerie. Then, Madonna's latest alter ego addresses you, low and firm: “My name is Dita / I'll be your mistress tonight.”

Boogie (genre): during the 1970s, the term “boogie” described music from the disco and post-disco subcultures. In the 1980s, the term was revitalized in London to refer to a type of African-American dance/funk music. Boogie had a large underground following in London's nightclub scene due to a lack of mainstream radio support. Boogie records were often imported from the U.S. and sometimes labeled as “electro-funk” or “disco-funk.” Although the word “boogie” was initially used to describe disco records, it became more popular as “disco” gained negative connotations. “Boogie” originally appeared in funk, soul, R&B, and disco music from the 1970s, with notable examples including “Jungle Boogie” (1974) and “Boogie Wonderland” (1979). Kashif is considered to be one of the pioneers of boogie music, with his 1983 single “I Just Gotta Have You (Lover Turn Me On)” helping to define the early 1980s boogie sound. Other popular boogie tracks from the 1980s include “Wake Up” (Hamilton Bohannon), “Act Like You Know” (Fat Larry's Band), and “Boogie's Gonna Get Ya” (Rafael Cameron). Boogie artists in the 1980s began experimenting with heavy bass, paving the way for the roots of house music. Hamilton Bohannon, D-Train, and Sharon Redd were among the artists who contributed to this new sound. Some producers, like François Kevorkian and Larry Levan, polished and extended the limits of urban-oriented boogie, while others like Arthur Baker and John “Jellybean” Benitez drew inspiration from European and Japanese technopop music. The latter approach paved the way for electro, and subsequently, freestyle music. Grammy® Honoree, Hollywood Walk of FameLet's Celebrate a Golden Anniversary of Kool & The Gang! For many years, he sought out Grand Cru Vineyards from owners that have been selling for generations and decided to work with Paul Berthelot, a Multi-Vintage Grand Cru Producer since 1884.A couple years ago marked the official launch of Le Kool Champagne, and Kool also recently added a new rosé champagne to keep the summer season going through the winter. Kool & the Gang, officially launched in 1969, after performing for five years under various band titles, has influenced the music of three generations and the band has become true recording industry legends. Thanks to iconic songs like Celebration, Cherish, Jungle Boogie, Summer Madness and Open Sesame, they've earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums. From Nairobi to Newark, Kool & the Gang has performed continuously longer than any R&B group in history and their bulletproof funk and jazzy arrangements have also made them the most sampled R&B band of all time. A reviewer recently called their performance “a 24-karat show” and every year, even after a half-century on the road, yields a non-stop schedule of shows across the globe. The heavily-in-demand band has continued to tour the world, appearing most recently alongside Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band, Elton John and The Roots and performing on a recent, 50-city tour with rock legends Van Halen. In 1964, Ronald Bell and his brother, Robert “Kool” Bell, joined Jersey City neighborhood friends Robert “Spike” Mickens, Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas, Ricky Westfield, George Brown, and Charles Smith to create a unique musical blend of jazz, soul and funk. At first calling themselves the Jazziacs, the band went through various names – The New Dimensions, The Soul Town Band, Kool & the Flames – before settling on their famous moniker. Over the next several years they solidified their musical chemistry on the rough-and-tumble East Coast music scene supporting acts like Bill Cosby, Ritchie Havens and Richard Pryor. Their self-titled 1969 debut album introduced their signature instrumental sound and fierce horn arrangements and spawned their first Billboard R&B charted single, Kool & the Gang. The band's stellar reputation grew with each album, but 1973's gold disc Wild & Peaceful took Kool & the Gang to another level (#6 R&B, #33 Pop), spurred by the immortal party anthems Funky Stuff, Hollywood Swinging and the platinum smash Jungle Boogie. Hits like Higher Plane (#1 R&B), the classic Summer Madness (featured on the Grammy-winning movie soundtrack Rocky) and LPs Spirit of the Boogie, Love & Understanding and Open Sesame followed. The latter's title track was featured on the top-selling movie soundtrack of all time, Saturday Night Fever, earning the group their second Grammy. In 1979, Kool & the Gang unveiled a smooth new sound with Ladies Night. Produced by the legendary Pop/Jazz musician Eumir Deodato, it became their first platinum album. The #1 R&B title track reached #8 at Pop. It was followed by Too Hot (#3 R&B, #5 Pop). The 80's would see them dominate the mainstream, starting with the double platinum-selling album Celebrate (driven by the international monster hit Celebration, which spent six weeks atop the R&B chart and became a #1 Pop single). Kool & the Gang's drum beats, bass, guitar and signature horn lines lace the tracks of numerous artists including the Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Cypress Hill, and P. Diddy. Kool & the Gang is the most sampled band in hip-hop by far. Their music is also featured on the soundtracks for Rocky, Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction, Wreck-It Ralph and countless others. In 2014, they were honored with a BET Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award and in October 2015, in the town they sing about in one of their earliest hits, “Hollywood Swinging,” Kool & the Gang was honored to take their place as American musical icons with a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2016, they released a single, "Sexy (Where'd You Get Yours),” which rose to #15 on the Billboard Adult R& B chart. The song signifies a modernization of Kool & the Gang's unmistakable sound, down to the dance floor-tailored bass grooves and the perfectly timed horns. It was their first airplay chart hit in a decade. © 2023 Building Abundant Success!!2023 All Rights ReservedJoin Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASSpot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23baAmazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy: https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

RADIAE APPLIS SOULKeyboardist: Gail NoblesVocals: Gail NoblesPhoto credit: Autore: Dwight McCannUsage: CC BY-SA 2.5Jungle Boogie is a funk song recorded by Kool & the Gang for their 1973 album ‘Wild and Peace”. It reached number four as a single, and became very popular in nightclubs. The music and song really makes you think about the jungle with boogie style.(Jungle Boogie)The song's spoken main vocal was performed by the bands roadie, Don Boyce.Jungle Boogie is a great song to dance too. I love the way the horns are played together with the beat and bass. It's like jazz. The words & music stays in your mind and never leaves. It's the kind of song that didn't need a lot of words like most songs are written. Just a few words and the spoken main vocal's expressions in between. I'm Gail Nobles & you're listening to Sound Flave ( Radiae Applis Soul) ..
