In this special episode of Marketing Your Private Practice with Kathy C, we take a break from marketing strategies to spotlight an incredible cause - Big Brothers Big Sisters. As part of the worldwide Podcasthon https://podcasthon.org/ Kathy shares her personal experience as a Big Sister and talks with Bethany Porter, the mentoring and volunteer coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax.Kathy opens up about what inspired her to join the program, how easy it was to get started, and the rewarding experience of mentoring a 9-year-old young girl in her community. Bethany provides some insight into the organization's mission, the impact of mentorship, and how just a few hours a month can create lasting change in a child's life. They discuss the matching process, common misconceptions about the time and financial commitment, and a couple of success stories of matches - many of which turn into lifelong friendships. With 107 children currently on the waitlist in Halifax alone, the need for volunteers is urgent. Whether you're 19 or 90, there's a child who could benefit from your time and kindness if not here in Kathy's city - then in your own city or town too! If you've ever considered becoming a Big Sister or Brother with this organization but felt unsure, this episode will give you the clarity and encouragement you need. Be sure to check out the links and resources mentioned on our show notes page at http://marketingyourprivatepractice.com/142 or visit halifax.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca to learn more and take the first step toward making a difference.Maybe you can't help out as a mentor yourself, but you can support Kathy and Skyla's fundraising for the BBBS Bowl-a-thon happening this May. Soap Operas were very popular during radio's classic era. Experts say the radio networks made more money from daytime serials than any other broadcast genre, because so many women were homemakers, and enjoyed being entertained while doing boring, tedious, housework. The first soap opera appeared on radio in 1930 and was an instant success. Very quickly, midday programing was filled with mostly soaps, lasting about 15 minutes each, with occasional news breaks. You will hear several soaps broadcast on CBS Radio the morning of September 21st, 1939. They are Hilltop House, Stepmother, Brenda Curtis, Big Sister, and Aunt Jenny's True Life Stories. Show Notes It's time for everyone's favorite convention: the Ameria Colony Guillotine Fest! Bring the kids on down, it's fun for the whole family! On this episode we discuss what makes a Char, the Uso Cycle and the Big Sister with a Thousand Faces, narrative imperatives, and how we're each of us getting what we want out of Victory (despite some quibbles). Please listen to it! Mobile Suit Breakdown is written, recorded, and produced within Lenapehoking, the ancestral and unceded homeland of the Lenape, or Delaware, people. Before European settlers forced them to move west, the Lenape lived in New York City, New Jersey, and portions of New York State, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut. Lenapehoking is still the homeland of the Lenape diaspora, which includes communities living in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Ontario. You can learn more about Lenapehoking, the Lenape people, and ongoing efforts to honor the relationship between the land and indigenous peoples by visiting the websites of the Delaware Tribe and the Manhattan-based Lenape Center. Listeners in the Americas and Oceania can learn more about the indigenous people of your area at https://native-land.ca/. We would like to thank The Lenape Center for guiding us in creating this living land acknowledgment. When Sue married reporter Jerry Miller, Ruth was able to give her full attention to the care of little Ned. Then, unexpectedly, Ruth fell in love with Neddie's new doctor, John Wayne, played first by Martin Gabel and later by Staats Cotsworth.

There is no Katherine Maher. I mean, she probably exists and walks around, but really, in all honesty, she is an amalgam. The danger with these kinds of people is they are being given positions of authority simply because they are human alloy. In fact, Katherine Maher doesn't believe most of what she says; I guarantee it. She clearly articulates how white people are evil and that there is no truth, but there has obviously been training and coaching happening behind the scenes. Joy Reid is also a biological deep fake. Although, I think she actually believes what she says. Well, she may believe it, but she doesn't live it. What does God's Word say? Proverbs 26:12 ESV Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.Proverbs 21:24 ESV “Scoffer” is the name of the arrogant, haughty man who acts with arrogant pride.Episode 1,549 Links:EXCLUSIVE: Katherine Maher doesn't just want to "stamp out bad information" on the internet. She wants to replace it with "good information"—i.e., left-wing narratives—and force the public to "sit within that good information" as "a collective." Big Sister has arrived.Current CEO of NPR Katherine Maher in 2021, back when she worked for Wikipedia, literally talking about rewriting history because it currently favors white people. Here's the new NPR CEO Katherine Maher (and former chief executive of Wikipedia) explaining that "the truth" is an outdated concept. Everyone can have their own truth:Who funds the Atlantic Council where Katherine Maher collected a paycheck as a fellow & from which she campaigned to end the First Amendment? No less than ELEVEN (11) federal US government agencies. It's you paying, dear taxpayer.I swear people weren't this stupid 20 years ago. Have the general public been deliberately dumbed down?"For me, there is something wonderfully poetic about the fact that the first person to criminally prosecute Donald Trump is a black Harvard grad. And a black woman is doing the same exact thing in G eorgia. And a black woman forced you to pay a $175 million dollar fine. Donald Trump is being held to account by the very multicultural, multiracial democracy that he's trying to dismantle. Go DEI. My DEIs are bringing it home."A company looking for people with an eye for detail sought out employees with autism. *TRIGGER WARNING! We do discuss eating disorders in this episode. On this weeks episode of Do the Work podcast, Sabrina is joined by her big sister Jaimie Bailey for a heart-to-heart talk on trauma and its manifestation in her relationship with food. Jaimie is a holistic nutritionist passionate about wellness and a healthy relationship with food and diet and she has her own indoor cycling studio in San Diego called Grindhouse Cycle. Jaimie talks about how trauma initially manifested itself with her and her fixation on tiny details about herself. Her older brother's addictions began to influence her choices and her addiction to the high. Her household environment was hostile and lacked joy, so her feeling of joy was tied to substances. It also led to the avoidant attachment style because of coping alone and the lack of trust in others to protect her. Jaimie shares her experiences with body shape changes in high school and while living in New York. She lost weight through healthy lifestyle changes, but her home environment led to her experiencing body dysmorphia. Jaimie realizes that her relationship with food has been influenced by her need to be numb and avoid addressing her unresolved inner child issues. Her now partner, Ashton, supported her during her relapses of indulging in food over the years. Her discovery of a holistic nutrition program introduced a new way of looking at food as a source of anxiety. Jaimie reflects on how working with her clients is like turning pain into purpose, yet she sometimes feels like an imposter because of shame. The susceptibility to relapse is there; she had to figure out how to make peace with it all daily. However, at the end of the day, her radical acceptance of her addictions helps her to be fully present for her clients. Her current approach to food is to consider all the factors that affect her relationship with it and whether each meal will provide her with the necessary energy. The first step in dealing with a problem like binge eating is understanding why it is happening. Once you have this understanding, you can decide to rise above it and prevent it from happening again.
