We're coming off of our Summer Game Fest-related high, toting a bunch of news from publisher-driven events that occurred after we published our last episode. For starters, the Xbox Showcase... showcased... 28 games in total, of which 24 are coming to PlayStation 5, including State of Decay 3, Senua, and Spyro: A Realm Beyond (not to mention release dates for Halo: Combat Evolved and Fable). But Xbox's peculiar, wishy-washy, and inconsistent behavior likewise makes us wonder what the future might hold for Microsoft releases on Sony's hardware, especially because Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution -- both internally slated to migrate to PlayStation 5 until very recently -- won't appear at all. Meanwhile, Nintendo's newest Direct also had some interesting fodder, including a surprise look at Kingdom Hearts IV, a brand new 2D-HD game in the form of Final Fantasy Resonance, and more. Other news this week revolves around Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6, a new Crazy Taxi adventure in the form of World Tour, a promising magic shooter called Magicians: The Devil's Deal, a fall release date for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, and extremely strong sales figures for Yacht Club's Mina the Hollower. We wrap things up (as always) with listener inquiries! Now that everything has settled, what are our three most-anticipated games, respectively? Should Sony bite the bullet and greenlight Destiny 3? Where's Naughty Dog hiding? Is Colin falling prey to Big Plumber and Big Sewer propaganda by refusing to flush wipes? On this episode of Random Encounter, we're digging for some sweet, sweet caffeine!First up, Bob is here to chat about Yacht Club Games' newest title, Mina the Hollower. Yacht Club struck gold a decade ago with their retro side-scroller Shovel Knight and its various campaigns, but since then, they've apparently been on the bubble financially. Well, that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore because Mina the Hollower appears to be a hit! This top-down, Link's Awakening-esque and Castlevania-esque soulslike currently has everyone talking, and Bob and Jono certainly can't stop chatting about it! Spoiler alert: it's absolutely fantastic!Next, Audra and Mike are here for a steaming cup of Coffee Talk Tokyo. As the third entry in this lo-fi, relaxing visual novel series, the game moves its setting from rainy Seattle to neon Tokyo. Does the charm of Coffee Talk successfully make the jump across the Pacific?Oh, and we also chat about our hopes for next week's Not-E3 (and be sure to stay tuned for our 2026 Not-E3 Extravaganza episode)! We're putting two of Walt Disney World's most beloved Deluxe Resorts head-to-head as Disney's Yacht Club Resort takes on Disney's Beach Club Resort. These sister resorts may share Stormalong Bay and a prime Crescent Lake location, but they offer two very different vacation vibes — and we're breaking it all down to decide which one comes out on top. We compare Yacht Club's refined nautical elegance and quieter, more adult-leaning atmosphere against Beach Club's bright, beachy energy and family-friendly charm. From theming and room comfort to dining, transportation, recreation, and overall value, each resort battles it out round by round in classic Resort Wars fashion. We also discuss fan-favorite dining locations like Yachtsman Steakhouse, Ale & Compass, Cape May Cafe, and Beaches & Cream, plus the unbeatable walkability to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios that makes this resort area one of the best on property. If you're trying to decide which resort is best for your next Walt Disney World vacation — whether you're planning an adults-only getaway, family trip, festival weekend, or pool-focused staycation — this episode should help you decide which side of Crescent Lake deserves your vote.

Plus: Strauss Zelnick expresses disappointment over Civilization VII and laments the lack of a new BioShock, a majority of consumers polled report never buying games at full price, Call of Duty is finally skipping PlayStation 4 moving forward, Yacht Club's Mina the Hollower gets a release date, and more. Is there an alternate reality where Sony kept the 007 film license in the '90s, thus opening up PlayStation to a series of James Bond games? What makes Yacht Club one of the most fun bars in America? A lot of it comes down to the energy behind it: owners Mary and McLain are clearly having a blast. On this episode of The Buildout, Adam sits down with the duo to talk about how two Southerners ended up in Denver, why they traded the music business for the bar business, and how they built one of the country's most joyful places to drink.Follow us: https://www.instagram.com/buildoutpodcastYacht Club: https://www.instagram.com/yachtclubbarMary Allison Wright: https://www.instagram.com/eatdrinkbemaryandmclainMcLain Hedges: https://www.instagram.com/yesterdayswineVinePair: https://www.instagram.com/vinepairHosted by VinePair Co-Founder: https://www.instagram.com/adamteeterProduced and edited by: https://www.instagram.com/dolldoctor Hosted on Acast. After the high emotion of "Promicide," couldn't we all use a little breather? (Also, let's be real: in a 23-episode season, you can't go straight from prom to commencement anyway.) Dawson is very slowly getting used to the idea of having lost Gretchen when Gale announces that she's leaving town, so he better try to get what closure he can in a hurry. Joey's moping around her Yacht Club shift when good old Mr. Kubelik from Worthington asks her to bring that charming boyfriend of hers to an imminent freshmen's mixer because Mr. Kubelik wants to introduce Pacey to the Dean of Admissions. Pacey, dying of shame, agrees to go, maybe even letting himself get as hopeful as Joey about what this invitation could mean. Jen comes home to a realtor showing Grams's house to prospective buyers, which is how she learns that Grams plans to use the proceeds to send Jen to college and live on what's left at an apparently not very nice retirement community. Jen immediately decides she's not going to go, so it falls to Jack to take a break from his very offscreen dates with Tobey to suggest there's another solution.
