Fireworks have been exploding late into the night as tens of thousands of Syrians celebrate the downfall of Assad's brutal regime in Damascus. We ask Syrians how they see an uncertain future - and ask whether the UK's decision not to intervene over a decade ago helped keep Assad in power. Also on the programme:France's new prime minister - the fourth this year - says he has a mountain to climb. We ask a French MP whether he'll face the same fate a his short-lived predecessor. And does fidgeting get you in a twitch? The medical condition that explains why some people feel visceral anger towards fidgeters - and whether it can be treated.

As Americans, do we sometimes have a tendency to take freedom for granted? When it's something most of us have lived with our entire lives, the answer is assuredly yes. That's to be expected as we can't fully comprehend what it is to live without. But ask anyone born under a dictator or totalitarian regime and they quickly remind of us of the blessings of liberty, since they once lived without it. To help remind us of this blessing of freedom, we are honored to have Ambassador Aldona Woś. Polish born, Ambassador Woś served as the US Ambassador to Estonia during the George W. Bush Administration and is currently the President of the Institute for World Politics. Her personal story is a compelling reminder that freedom is not free, nor is it permanent.
How to we celebrate the holiday of freedom, given the situation in Israel and the hostages that remain without any kind of freedom for over 6 months now? Remember the last time your charger got mistaken for makeup? It sparked the most unexpected banter at the Diebler family table—and that's just a taste of the conversations we're serving up this week. Our special guest, the Gen Z representative and anxiety connoisseur, Hutch Diebler, joins us to shed light on what it's like navigating a world where "cheugy" is a put-down and a phone charger can spark an intergenerational debate. Get ready to laugh and maybe learn a thing or two as we tackle the quirks of modern-day communication. We'll take you on a rollercoaster ride from our largest crowd of 160,000 at Celebrate Freedom 2000, to the more intimate stages of family life where baby Hutch once made his on-stage debut. We're connecting generations—one cheeky comment and technical hiccup at a time, discussing everything from the Gen Z slang that baffles us to that time someone's old car turned the heat into an opera singer.Wrap up your day with a chuckle as we discuss the secret to attracting teens (hint: it's not deer urine), and the allure of healthy snacks and hot tubs—with the assurance that it's all in good fun. Our episode comes to an impromptu close with a surprise visitor, but not before we give a nod to Hutch's music available on Apple Music and Spotify. Tune in for a heartfelt blend of laughter, candid reflections, and those precious family moments that always seem to take an unexpected turn.

Nearly 2000 years before America's freedom was born, God was introducing another kind of freedom to the world. This freedom came in the person of Jesus Christ, and gave us liberty from sin and its eternal consequences. It is a freedom made possible because God is for us, not against us. We are free because, “…nothing can ever separate us from God's love.” Our spiritual freedom is anchored in the everlasting, unchangeable love God has for us. That's something to celebrate!Romans 8:31-39Web: www.dare2hope.lifeEmail: hope@dare2hope.life"Yet I still dare to Hope..." - Lamentations 3:21

After years of teaching, Arianne Craig Jolla says parents, not just educators, need to teach their children. And as the nation celebrates Juneteenth on Monday, Craig Jolla says parents have a wonderful opportunity to educate their children on the history behind the day and the joy of freedom. Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of the last enslaved blacks after the end of the Civil War. As the author of “Teach Your OWN Kid! Schools Can't Do It Alone,” Craig Jolla says parents play an important educational role on Juneteenth. Craig Jolla joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the history of Juneteenth and a new initiative that aims to end generational cycles of poverty. As co-founder of the Louisiana based HYPE Academy Private School & Academic Resource Center and a longtime teacher, she says students lack basic financial knowledge. "It is a cycle of poverty that will not be undone just in a classroom, but there has to be a tool that we bring online, a learning solution for those kids to undo some of the generational issues that we're seeing," she says.Through an interactive app called Cash Academy, Craig Jolla says students will be able to learn how to "earn, invest, save, spend, and give.""Just as we are fighting for education freedom in black and brown schools that serve black and brown kids, just as we, Hype Academy, is now moving into our project Cash Academy, and we're fighting for financial freedom for those same kids, it is important for them to know that historically that their ancestors ... fought for those fundamental freedoms to be able to go to school and to get the kind of assistance that many of our young people are the beneficiaries of," she says.Enjoy the show! From the Henssler Financial Studio this is your news minute on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, presented by Tom Wages Funeral home. Today is Saturday june 16th, and I'm Brian GiffinGwinnett County residents are preparing to observe Juneteenth, a significant moment in the civil rights movement for African-Americans. Juneteenth commemorates the day slaves in Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom on June 19, 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Although it became a federal holiday in 2021, Georgia established it as a state holiday last year, and Gwinnett County quickly followed suit. This weekend, various events will be held throughout the county to celebrate Juneteenth. Lawrenceville will host a concert and a celebration at Alexander Park. Norcross will have a commemoration event at Thrasher Park and a banquet at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Sugar Hill will organize a celebration at The Bowl, while Snellville will hold a Celebrate Freedom event at Snellville Towne Green. The Duluth Library Branch will also host a Juneteenth event featuring presentations and activities. The county is coming together to honor this important milestone in the ongoing fight for equality and civil rights. For details on all the goings on, visit gwinnettdailypost.com. Kaity Floyd treats us to a world exclusive performance of a song she wrote about her inspiration, David Cassidy, which she sings before explaining how she would like it to be recorded. Kaity admits she was born too late to absorb the excitement of the 1970s. The 27-year-old singer-songwriter cites David Cassidy as one of the biggest musical influences on her career. In this episode, Kaity talks about being a “tom boy” while growing up with the influence on her career of musicians from Axl Rose to Julie Andrews. She explains how she writes her music and talks about David's impact on her chosen path. From Texas, she has played at numerous venues including The Palladium, Freedom Fest, Dallas Lakewood Theatre, Celebrate Freedom, and The Curtain Club. You can read more about Kaity's life story in my book, Cherish David Cassidy – A Legacy of Love available from Amazon and leading bookstores. Kaity's website link: http://sheisfloyd.com/index.html
