There's arguably no superhero in existence that has been reimagined, redefined, or reinterpreted more than Batman. No matter how many times he's been rebooted, audiences are always willing to come back to Gotham City's greatest defender. With so much Bat content out there, there's plenty to dissect, analyze, and of course, rank! This podcast is dedicated to a surgical evaluation of Batman's history, with a focus on ranking several topics in the world of Batman, among other classic Bat themes and characters.Join hosts Daniel Cohen, Pop Break's former Film Editor, and Kris Ingersoll, co-host of the Media/Lit podcast, as they bring on several guests every month to share their passion for the one and only Dark Knight. From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned. Bottom-line: If you're a Batman fan, this is required listening.Love is in the air! On the heels of Valentine's Day, it's time to rank the women who've stolen the Dark Knight's heart, as we rank every cinematic Batman love interest! What other podcast has a rankings list that includes Talia Al Ghul, three Catwomen, Miss Kitka, and Dr. Chase Meridian. As this is a Valentine's Day themed list, we had to bring in a pop break power couple. You know them from the Blerd Watchers podcast –Marshall Stevenson makes his third appearance, and making her debut, it's Courtney Stevenson! The panelists discuss and debate everyone from Miss Kitka, played by Lee Meriwether in the 1960s, all the way to Zoe Kravitz in 2022's The Batman. We break it all down. All the Catwomen. Vicki Vale. And of course, it wouldn't be a Batman by the Numbers rankings episode without Daniel getting bent out of shape on at least one ranking. This is one you don't want to miss, as the conversations on all these characters spiral into great discussions about these movies, and the overall world of Batman, which is what this podcast is all about!
Alex is joined by Ben in the podcave this week to watch and review, BATMAN FOREVER. They each give their thoughts on the film and Alex explains the reason why he loves it so much, whilst Ben gives many more reasons on why he doesn't. Our hosts also discuss Bruce's big long pipe, Robin's laundry habits, Batman serving jury duty, the Riddler's non-sensical science, and why Dr. Chase Meridian is the worst therapist in the world. Jumikemuissa otetaan uudelleen suunta kohti Gothamia, jossa tällä kertaa hilluvat Val Kilmer Batmanina, Tommy Lee Jones Kaksinaamana, Jim Carrey Arvuuttajana ja Nicole Kidman rikospsykiatrian tohtori Chase Meridian elokuvassa Batman Forever. Markkinatalous ja McDonaldsin leluateriat syrjäyttivät Tim Burtonin ohjaajan penkiltä, jolle istui Joel Schumacher. Ohjaaja vaihdos näkyy kaikkialla: elokuva on camp, gay, holtiton, värikäs ja jatkuvasti poukkoileva. Ajankohtaisessa kysymyksessä kummastellaan äskeittäin ilmoitettua Moana/Vaiana live-action-elokuvaa ja pohditaan muutenkin populaarikulttuurin uudelleenlämmittelyjen ansioita. Lopussa Sweet Chili Dippi suosituksia ja Jutan arvailuvuoro seuraavan jakson leffasta. Tuu mukaan, nää on kiva kemut!
This is a long episode because we welcome a special guest, our close friend Matty from the No Nerds Were Harmed podcast. One of the biggest Batman fans I know so we needed his opinion on one of the most divisive Batman movies of all time. June 16, 1995 Val Kilmer dons the Batsuit for the first and only time in his career. His Batman takes on Robin as his partner, falls for Chase Meridian, outsmarts Two Face, and matches wits with The Riddler. Chris O'Donnell, Nicole Kidman, Tommy Lee Jones, and Jim Carrey respectively. Joel Schumacher takes over as director, after Tim Burton leaves the project, and gives us a brand new Gotham and a brand new Caped Crusader. This was the top grossing movie for 1995, but has been dragged through the dirt in the years since. Does this movie deserve the vitriol and hatred it receives? Does it deserve the love that others pour upon it? We aren't here to decide if it deserves love or hate, but we are here to answer the question; Does It Hold Up? If you liked what Matty had to say, click the following links to check out his two podcasts. We are a big fan of both and hopefully you will be too. https://nonerdswereharmed.podbean.com/ https://itsmovienight.podbean.com/ As always, you can follow us on all our socials for more great content by click the link below. https://linktr.ee/doesitholdup Thanks for listening. We appreciate everyone last one of listeners and supporters.
We're celebrating our 200th episode by presenting our live Discord episode, which followed a shared screening of Batman Forever! Join us, as we chat about the questionable ethics of Dr. Chase Meridian; the differences between experiencing trauma as a child versus as an adult; and a lot more!
Bat Therapy: Psychology of Batman and other Comic Superheroes
Not too much is known about the professional life of Dr. Chase Meridian, Gotham PD consultant and expert in “abnormal psychology and multiple personality disorder.” We talk about her professional work and the question of if this Two-Face truly represents Dissociative Identify Disorder. For your listening pleasure, we also may get a little sidetracked into talking about the silly quirks of this Batman film.
Kísérletet tettünk a Schumacher-rébusz megfejtésére. "Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey." The swooning words to Seal's mega-hit song from the "Batman Forever" soundtrack most likely refers to the relationship between Batman/Bruce Wayne and Dr. Chase Meridian, and definitely NOT the working relationship between actors Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey. So the legend goes, the crusty Oscar winner did not sanction Mr. Carrey's buffoonery. Despite stories of onset turmoil thanks to Jones and Val Kilmer (taking the cape and cowl from Michael Keaton), "Batman Forever" was a box office sensation in 1995, thanks in large part to Carrey's mid-9os superstardom. The quip-filled script and decidedly lighter touch from director Joel Schumacher was also a welcome relief to studio execs who thought Tim Burton's gloomy, grimy (and brilliant) "Batman Returns" from 1992 was way too dark for superhero-obsessed kiddos. It wasn't just the box office. The soundtrack sold millions, McDonald's sold amazing glassware, and the studio felt so good they let Schumacher go even crazier with the 1997 sequel, "Batman & Robin." Yeesh. So is "Batman Forever" anything substantial besides a corny 90s relic? Yes and no. The movie has some incredible production design, and, despite a few too many quips, the manic energy of Carrey suits this version of The Riddler just fine. And, wowza, Nicole Kidman is super horny for Batman in this movie. Bruce Wayne though? Eh, he's just okay. It's Jones' Two-Face that sticks out like a half-scarred thumb. Clearly the dude wanted to be the Top Villain in the movie, and that meant going as BIG as Jim Carrey. Big mistake, Sam Gerard. Old Millennials Remember Batman Forever Old Millennials hosts Tyler and Angela discuss showing their very baffled kids "Batman Forever" for the first time, as well as the entire family's confusion over the age of Chris O'Donnell's Dick Grayson (aka Robin). Bruce Wayne takes him in so as to avoid paperwork at Gotham Child Services, but Dick Grayson is obviously 30 YEARS OLD. They also discuss bat-nipples (of course), the incompetence of Commissioner Gordon and Alfred's lackadaisical approach to Wayne Manor security. Plus we have a rundown of our favorite terrible lines, from "My life's an open book, do you read?" to "Wanna take a ride in my love machine, BAEBAE?!" But we will defend a few other lines, like, say, "That's never going to heal if you don't stop picking" and "Holy rusted metal, Batman!" Because the ground... it's metal... it's full of holes... Also discussed on this episode of Old Millennials Remember Movies Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers (2022) Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022) The Lost City (2022) Clifford the Big Red Dog (2021) Moon Knight (2022 TV series) Good Girls (TV series) The Avengers (2012)

How do you follow up a twisted, dark, and somewhat perverted Batman sequel (previous episode Batman Returns) which upset a lot of parents, angered a fast-food franchise, and freaked out a major studio? If you're Warner Bros., you take the character of Batman/Bruce Wayne….and cast 90's star Val Kilmer and hire Joel Schumacher to direct and cast the biggest stars at the time including Jim Carrey as The Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face, Nicole Kidman as Dr. Chase Meridian, and Chris O'Donnell as Robin……plus you add Day-Glo production design, buffoonery from some key cast members, and….Bat-nipples? Ryan, Hannah and Tyler go through the DC movie history to prove that they do actually like a lot of DC movies, including some of the weird ones. Riddle me this, riddle me that, who's afraid of a podcast about a bat....man..? Ok, look, we're not great at riddles, but it's okay because neither is the Riddler in this movie! Our friend Aaron Cooley, the writer and creator of the upcoming Showtime series, "The First Lady," joins us to break down the classic Joel Schumacher joint, BATMAN FOREVER! In one of our longest episodes ever, we find out ONCE AND FOR ALL whether or not there is an elusive four-hour-long 'Schumacher cut' lying around somewhere. We also try to figure out the 'Top 4' films of Jim Carrey based on IMDB's weird algorithm. Here is the official synopsis of this classic film: "Now equipped with rock-hard nips, Batman heads off in his ribbed-for-her-pleasure Batmobile to stop the evil villains, Two-Face and the Riddler. Lots of implausible and multi-colored hijinks ensue. Dr. Chase Meridian is impressed, and rightly turned-on by, Batman's 5th grade-level knowledge regarding bat genealogy. And full adult male actor, Chris O'Donnell, appears as teenaged Robin. This is indeed, a movie." Follow Aaron Cooley on Twitter: @CooleyA Showtime's "The First Lady" premieres in April 2022! The Film Grads aren't sure what to make of 1995's Batman Forever, a strange departure from what they've experienced so far on their journey. Chris questions Bruce Wayne's claim that he's never been in love before, Jordan performs a savage take down of Dr. Chase Meridian and Josh develops an interesting theory about why Bruce Wayne looks a little different in this movie...
Just like Batman is Forever, Drew and Badway apparently are Forever, as the The Last Row Podcast returns from a long hiatus to tackle the Caped Crusader in all of Gotham’s neon 90’s glory. Topics include: Being “done” with Bruce’s dead parents, Val Kilmer’s performance and legacy as Batman/Bruce Wayne, a spirited Alfred Pennyworth comparison, Dr. Chase Meridian’s steamy one-track mind, how Two-Face and The Riddler rank on the all new Villain Scale, and many more odds and ends, including the effectiveness of Scuba Thugs. Thanks for listening, it’s great to be back! It's the disingenuous crew.. and we're back. Well Skylar and Chris. Get your drinks ready because its time for a drinking game to the infamous Batman Forever. This thing has got everything... Batman, Robin, Chase Meridian, statues, furries, and.. jorgasms? You'll be just as confused as us. Pour yourself a cold one and strap in, Gotham City is wet and wild.
1995's Batman Forever is the third installment of the Batman franchise as well as the first one not directed by Tim Burton but also the FIRST one that the Sweeties saw in the theaters! Michael Keaton is out and Val Kilmer is in as the brooding, conflicted Bruce Wayne who still can't come to terms with losing his parents or his love of bats. We loved this movie as kids but on this rewatch realized it's maybe not the greatest? We adore Jim Carrey's The Riddler (even if he gets a bit too hammy) and Val did a fine job trying to add depth to snoozy Bruce Wayne. However, we could do with a lot less of Tommy Lee Jone's Two Face and way, way less of way too into himself + what is with that misplaced earring Chris O'Donnell aka Dick Grayson aka Robin. We'll talk about what's our favorite Riddler costume, why is Chase Meridian such a hot mess, and warble out what we think to be the correct lyrics to Seal's Kiss From a Rose. We'll just say it ain't pretty! We're all getting Batman Forever tattoos guys!
Mike and John discuss Nick Meyer's Permanently-in-Development Khan Star Trek TV series, whether Chase Meridian can catch Lou Grant's magic, memories of when the Matrix Reloaded & celebrate the anniversary of Attack of the Clones. Along the way they discuss how to avoid dropping off the Quality Cliff while watching films, how to plan movie watching, and what they're going to watch in preparation for Solo: A Star Wars Story.?JOIN THE MISSION!Subscribe in Apple PodcastsFeedback: TheNerdParty.com/ContactFacebook: facebook.com/TheNerdPartyTwitter: @JoinNerdParty #GreatShotKidInstagram: @TheNerdParty #GreatShotKid
Batman Forever turned 20 years old in June so Andy, Jamie, and Kevin turn back the clock to look at Joel Schumacher's first entry in the Batman franchise. Val Kilmer's Bruce Wayne, Jim Carrey's Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face, Nicole Kidman's Dr. Chase Meridian, and Chris O'Donnell's Robin, they cover it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly (lots of ugly).
