Though she initially aspired to be a lawyer, a pivotal summer program introduced her to the world of television, setting her on a path toward media and storytelling.Amber studied Film & Television at Hobart College, gained hands-on experience through internships, and landed a job in media advertising post-graduation. However, she craved creativity beyond spreadsheets, leading her to a career transition into production. By leveraging LinkedIn and networking at film sets, she transitioned into freelancing on major productions like Billions and Clifford the Big Red Dog. Yet, she knew there was still something missing. She wanted to be the person that creates the stories. From then on, that became her long term goal.To make those dreams a reality, she applied to NBCUniversal's East Coast Page Program and was accepted. Through that program, she landed a role at Peacock, where she helped launch key marketing campaigns. Around the same time, she earned her MFA in Screenwriting at Emerson College, further solidifying her path as a storyteller. After three years, Peacock let her go, but that hasn't stopped her from pursuing her ultimate goal: writing and creating authentic stories for television.Amber's journey is a testament to resilience, strategic career transitions, and the power of pursuing your passion. This week we're talking about Renny Harlin's The Exorcist: The Beginning because we're contractually obligated to due to the format of the show. Mike and Stephen are here to talk about hot moms, the 1995 coming of age movie Angus, (featuring not one but TWO Oscar winners), the Angus soundtrack, what makes up the weakest entry in the Back to the Future series, whether or not Paul Schrader directed Clifford the Big Red Dog, the latest addition to our soundboard and so much more. All right, we talk about the movie a little bit, and ask the question whether it is better to be a serviceable, feels like it's made for television feature, or a wild swing and massive miss like The Heretic? Plus, we ask the question: Has there ever been a successful exorcism in any of The Exorcist movies? Ultimately, The Beginning is “The Goofus” to Dominion's “Gallant”: a big, dumb, spectacle of a movie with poorly rendered, early aughts CGI that passes a couple hours but has all the lasting power of a stick of Juicy Fruit gum. Send us a textCould You Survive the 1800s? The password is Clifford the Big Red Dog.Could you hack it in the 1800s armed only with modern knowledge? Wild question, right? Zac and Chad wrote a book! This episode kicks off with some fun, lighthearted speculation before we take a deep dive into childhood nostalgia—Dr. Seuss, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and how those early books shaped our love for reading. But this isn't just a trip down memory lane; it's a special occasion. Chad is back on the Youth Ministry Booster podcast, and we're celebrating the upcoming release of our new book, Define the Relationship, now available for pre-order!Beyond the laughs and throwback stories (including why Clifford wasn't just a dog in our childhood imaginations), we shift gears into something every youth leader needs to hear: the power of partnering with parents. We've spent years researching, listening to over a thousand church-going parents, and crafting a framework that helps youth pastors and parents get on the same page. Ministry isn't just about programming—it's about creating a culture of discipleship that starts in the home. We break down practical next steps, a six-month plan for parent ministry, and why youth ministries should function as spiritual centers in today's chaotic world. As we wrap up, we tackle one of the biggest shifts needed in youth ministry today: moving from event-based models to deep, relational discipleship. It's a challenge, but it's necessary for long-term impact. And of course, we can't end without some excitement—Define the Relationship is here! We'd love for you to read it, rate it, and review it. Your feedback fuels the future of these conversations, and who knows? Maybe some special guests will join us next time.So grab your headphones, hit play, and let's dive in! It's that time again - Time for another episode of the WGI Unleashed Podcast! Join us as we travel to Austin, TX, to sit down with Marc Remmert, Director of MEP Engineering for an engaging and insightful conversation about his journey through life, career, and personal passions. Marc's story is one of transformation, determination, and an entrepreneurial spirit that continues to inspire his work and his team. Small-Town Beginnings Marc grew up in a small town near Peoria, Illinois, where his family's roots run deep, spanning generations. Life there was simple yet meaningful, and Marc fondly recalls clear nights spent gazing at the stars—something he misses to this day. His upbringing instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance, shaping the person he is today. After high school, Marc left his hometown in search of broader horizons and new opportunities. He enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis, where he found the perfect blend of independence and connection—it was close enough to visit family on weekends but far enough for space during the week. It was also in St. Louis that he met his wife, a life-changing moment that added yet another layer to the city's special place in his heart. A Dynamic Career Path Marc's academic journey wasn't without its challenges. Initially drawn to biomedical engineering, he soon realized that a future filled with chemistry wasn't for him. After switching to electrical engineering, Marc discovered a passion for the field and a supportive community that fueled his ambition. While he initially envisioned designing computer chips, he pivoted to construction—a decision that launched his unconventional yet impactful career. Marc began his professional life with an electrical contractor in Charleston, South Carolina, working on data center projects for Google. The 70-hour weeks were grueling but transformative, giving Marc hands-on experience and a unique engineering perspective that would prove invaluable later in his career. A new chapter began when his wife accepted a job in Austin, Texas. Eager to pursue his Professional Engineer license, Marc joined Big Red Dog as a graduate engineer. At the time, the company had a startup feel, with only 35 employees. Over the next decade, Marc's career flourished as Big Red Dog merged with WGI. Today, he leads WGI's MEP department and the Austin office, crediting the company's innovative and entrepreneurial culture for empowering him to explore new ideas and grow with the organization. Life Beyond the Office Outside of work, Marc enjoys a balanced life filled with hobbies and intellectual pursuits. He's an avid reader with a knack for sharing book recommendations and a passionate golfer who's even managed to get his wife hooked on the sport. These activities allow Marc to unwind, recharge, and stay inspired. When asked about alternate career paths, Marc muses that he might have made a great lawyer—an intriguing "what if" for someone with his sharp intellect and drive. See You Next Time! So, don't wait a moment longer - Grab those headphones and crank up the volume because it's time to get unleashed.... Jim Rutledge and Molly Brown roll into Hour 2 after a great appearance from NFL analyst and former Badgers QB Nate Tice. First, Jim gives an update on his undefeated Ole Miss program in EA College football 25, and Primetime didn't realize that pregnancies actually closer to 10 months than 9? They also divert from the conversation about Jordan Love's ranking in the most recent QB tiers from The Athletic, as they get into Jim dropping the bag at Costco with his family this past weekend even though they didn't get a real "big-ticket" item. They also ask, what's a better place for a first date: Applebee's or the Costco food court? Molly catches up to Jim and Matt from last week, giving her 5 predictions for the NFL season including first HC fired, OROY, MVP, NFC Championship Game participants and one BOLD prediction. Welcome back to another captivating episode of the WGI Unleashed Podcast! In our 83rd episode, we explore the story of Andrew Miller, WGI's Senior Client Manager in our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineering (MEP) department. Andrew's journey from a young engineering enthusiast to a key figure at WGI showcases his dedication, passion, and diverse range of interests. This episode offers a fascinating glimpse into his life, career, and the hobbies that have helped shape him into the professional he is today! Laying the Foundation Andrew, who was born in Orlando, Florida, grew up in the greater Tampa Bay area. Unlike many kids who grew up with LEGO sets, Andrew found himself drawn to K'nex. He enjoyed assembling and disassembling the pieces in unique and creative ways, and with this early fascination with "how things work," it was clear that Andrew was taking his first steps into the world of engineering. A pivotal moment in Andrew's youth came in the form of a TV commercial, which sparked his interest in pursuing a career in engineering. Determined, Andrew applied to only one school—Georgia Tech—where he majored in mechanical engineering after deciding that Robotics was not the path for him. Andrew relished the experience of attending college in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia, a non-traditional college environment that offered many unique experiences and opportunities. From Intern to Senior Client Manager While at Georgia Tech, Andrew participated in an internship co-op program, gaining hands-on experience through multiple internships at the same company. Looking back, Andrew realizes that this experience was crucial in his professional development and has also helped to pave the way for a job offer upon graduation. However, upon graduating in 2010, and amidst the lingering effects of the 2008 recession, Andrew felt the urge to explore new horizons and gain additional professional experience. A job opportunity in Austin, Texas, found through Craigslist, of all places, allowed him to dive deeper into the MEP industry and cut his teeth with one of the largest firms in Texas. This move proved instrumental in his career, providing him with invaluable experience. Andrew's next opportunity came in the form of Big Red Dog, a firm later acquired by WGI. This acquisition opened up numerous opportunities for him, enabling significant growth within the MEP department. Today, as the only Senior Client Manager at WGI, Andrew serves as the point person for all new MEP opportunities, describing his role as: "Working at the intersection of creativity and engineering expertise." The Man Behind the Engineer Beyond his professional life, Andrew is a self-described "Hobby Guy," with his passions including golf and woodworking. Although he has yet to become a scratch golfer, his woodworking skills are impressive, as he's built nearly all of the furniture in his home. Music has also played a significant role in Andrew's life, as he has been playing the trumpet and guitar for many years. Once an avid weightlifter, Andrew now also enjoys days at home alongside his wife and their Shih Tzu - Peter Cornelius (affectionately known as Peco). Engineering for the Community Andrew takes immense pride in creating spaces that serve his community. He finds excitement in seeing people interact with the designs he has helped bring to life and relishes seeing the enjoyment that his work can bring to his clients. This dedication to his community and profession truly sets Andrew apart as a leader in the MEP field! Join us in thanking Andrew Miller for sharing his fascinating story - from his early days in Tampa to his current role at WGI; Andrew's story is one of inspiration, growth, and unwavering dedication to his craft! We join forces with Nathan and Michael, two die-hard kaiju aficionados, for a romp through the colossal world of giant monster films. Welcome to the DMF. Where I try to find out what motivates people behind the scenes in the world of acting and entertainment. Today on the podcast I am talking to an actress by the name of Darby Camp. Darby has been in Big Little Lies, Gaslit, The Christmas Chronicles, and Clifford the Big Red Dog to name a few. This was a live interview that I did at the Carolina Film Community in front of an audience, so this interview will sound different. As always you can reach me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook with my name Justin Younts. Thank you for listening and sit back and enjoy.
“WOOF” that's what we said after we watched 2021's “Clifford the Big Red Dog” directed by Walt Becker. “OOF” is the feeling of trying to discuss it. That's the risk you take when you decide to randomly generate movie titles for specific content. Yes, two months ago “Clifford” came up in a random generator and here it is wedged between Paul Robeson and Denzel Washington movies. Nobody is making us do it but we have this compulsion and it sure as hell won't blow the doors off. We all know about the Big Red Dog named Clifford. There is cuteness here. No doubt. Formulaic as hell? It's practically a Hallmark movie. I think fuckin' ChatGPT will be scripting kids movies soon and it will probably hit this exact tone and structure with the speech at the end. Continuity buffs are gonna be PEYISSED when they find out that this movie is set in New York City as opposed to Birdwell Island like in the books. It's never as good as the book, is it? This dog would accidentally kill people in such a dense population area. They need a sequel where Clifford accidentally crushed someone to death as well as a pooping scene. God help us we randomly generate another movie to review at the end of this episode. We also tackle: lawyer billboard, the relationship between Air Bud, Beethoven, and Cliffored the Big Red Dog. This devolves into our "Clifford 2023" movie idea - where the charisma of Clifford comes up against the unsettling logistics of a 50-feet dog and the upsetting results that would bring to a small town. Former child actor turned Grammy-winning producer Dennis Scott, recounts his journey from auditioning for commercials with dyed black hair to producing hit albums for Sesame Street and learning to let the musicians do their thing. With a start on Broadway at just seven years old, Dennis quickly learned what it takes to make it in the business. After his time as a child actor, he joined the New Christie Minstrels, a popular folk group, and began writing songs. Dennis eventually became a powerhouse producer and songwriter in the music industry, working with some of the biggest names out there. With his vast experience and knowledge, Dennis is sure to offer invaluable advice for aspiring musicians. This episode is sponsored by: Beck's ShoesIn this episode:The Impact of Mr. RogersThe Role of a ProducerStaying Grounded in the Midst of FameHumble Beginnings Bio:Two-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter/producer/writer DENNIS SCOTT has left no corner of the children's music industry unexplored. His songs have been performed by such diverse artists as Faith Hill, Ray Charles, Sugarland, Alison Krauss, The Muppets, Amy Grant, CeCe Winans, Trisha Yearwood, Elmo, Charlie Daniels Band, Shari Lewis, Crystal Gayle, Roberta Flack, Ricky Skaggs, and many others.Dennis is also the recipient of two Emmys, a Parent's Choice Award, and a Telly. You can hear his work on television, radio, audiobooks, home videos, and stage productions such as "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Sesame Street Live," and "The Magic School Bus."Dennis began his entertainment career at the age of 7 as an actor on Broadway. As an adult, he toured with the New Christy Minstrels (playing upright bass and singing). His novelty tune "Captain Kirk's Disco Trek" led to his first serious foray into children's music and a Grammy for "Sesame Country." He has had nonstop assignments since then.Dennis has served a music director for several children's TV shows, including the PBS series "Noddy" and, most recently, "BJ's Teddy Bear Club" which airs on TBN and just earned him his second Emmy award. His album, "Songs From the Neighborhood - the Music of Mister Rogers" won last year's Grammy award as Best Musical Recording for Children.Recently Dennis fulfilled his own childhood dream by spearheading a Beatles tribute band called The WannaBeatles. The band has grown in popularity and was even nominated for a Grammy in the spoken word category for an audiobook collection of interviews with Beatles fans called, "Fab Fan Memories - The Beatles Bond."When your childhood heroes are people like Danny Kaye, Jack Benny and Jerry Lewis, you can't help but have a silly side to you. Creating and producing music, particularly children's music, allows me to be as silly and creative as I want to be. And playing in a Beatles band makes me feel like a rock star. There are; however, only a select few artists who are Triple Threats: They sing, act, and dance with equal excellence. Terrence “TC” Carson is one such artist. A native of Chicago, Illinois, TC grew up as an only child. He was raised by his beloved mother in the LeClaire Courts projects. After attending and graduating from Chicagoland schools, he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign where he majored in architecture and creative design and became a member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. A trained dancer and an Emmy Award-winning actor, TC was encouraged by his family to become an artist. He has performed in iconic plays, musicals, and tour productions from “The Wiz” and “Sesame Street Live” to “Dreamgirls”, “Ain't Misbehavin”, and “Blackberry Daze”. He is best known for portraying Kyle Barker on the FOX sitcom, Living Single; voicing Mace Windu on Star Wars: The Clone Wars; and his long-running voicing of Kratos in the God of War video game series. He is known to a new generation of fans as a recurring guest star on the Oprah Winfrey Network's mystery drama series, Greenleaf; voicing Samuel in the PBS Kids animated series Clifford the Big Red Dog; and as guest star on The CW's superhero drama series, Black Lightning, and CMT's musical soap opera series, Nashville. A gifted vocalist, TC has the vocal range of Al Jarreau and the percussive skill of Bobby McFerrin, two artists he admires. His recordings and live performances offer an eclectic mix of classics and new grooves, each with his signature sound. From soaring falsetto to velvety, rich baritone, his vocal artistry tells stories about loving and living. (officialtccarson.com)

What people trust you on is essential. We trust that what Public Media puts out there will be beneficial, trustworthy and real. ~ Kristin Smedley and Mary Fran Bontempo How much do you trust what the world is saying to you? In a world of fake news (often driven by people promoting falsehoods), disrespect and fear as a driving force, it's almost impossible to know whom to trust. Ellen Rapoport is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of the breakout hit comedy series, Minx, for HBO Max. The series, which aired on the platform on March 17, takes place in 1970s Los Angeles and follows the story of an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher to create the first erotic magazine for women. In May, it was announced that the series was renewed for a second season. Executive produced by Paul Feig and starring Ophelia Lovibond, Jake Johnson, and Lennon Parham among others, the series became an instant hit for its clever writing, evocative imagery, and its championship of feminist ideals from the 70s era. TV Guide called it “…a bouncy, feel-good show that taps into the elation of creating something new where there was nothing before.”Previously, Ellen co-wrote the screenplay for Paramount's feature Clifford the Big Red Dog, as well as Netflix's Desperados."What drew me to the time period of the 70s was the real story of these magazines Playgirl, Viva, Foxy Lady, all the magazines that existed in this period. So it was a natural outgrowth of trying to tell a story that was inspired by, to some extent, real-life events. When I started developing Minx, what struck me about the 70s, in particular, is just how similar it was to our time. It seems like the magazines were covering all the same issues that we're now talking about. Obviously, we all saw with the leaked decision in Roe vs. Wade just how close we are to that time period and how far we haven't come.”· MINX: www.hbomax.com/minx· Ellen Rapoport: www.imdb.com/name/nm0710784/· www.creativeprocess.info · www.oneplanetpodcast.org
