The story of Hezekiah and Isaiah in Isaiah chapter 38, is a good illustration of the importance sharing what the Bible says and of the power of prayer. Hezekiah the king is extremely sick. Isaiah brings a message from God saying Get ready; youre going to die. This negative message is the best thing that Hezekiah can hear, because it motivates him to action that results in a reversal of the situation. There are some passages in the Bible which do not seem to follow the positive, faith-filled message that we find on most pages. The Book of Ecclesiastes is one example. When we read this book, we might conclude that the writer was an early existentialist. Existentialism is a very negative and fatalistic view of the world. But there is value in Ecclesiastes. It brings a stark warning that a life that is not truly God-centred will never be fulfilled. We need a vision that sees beyond the sun, beyond the temporal. King Solomon, the writer of Ecclesiastes had great wealth, power, influence and fame. He also had great success; whatever he did tuned out well. Furthermore he indulged in all the pleasures that his wealth and position could provide. Yet his life was empty. This is a stark warning for people that are chasing fame, fortune and pleasure. Jesus heals a man that had been born blind. the Pharisees investigate the claims of the healing, but are reluctant to believe that the man had been blind, despite all the witnesses. These religious leaders conclude that Jesus is a sinner for healing on the Sabbath; that the man was a sinner because he had been born blind and that the act of healing was a sinful act. This message is an exposition of the first part of John chapter 8. Jesus is teaching in the temple, when the religious leaders drag in a woman caught in the act of adultery. They state the the law of Moses demands that an adultery should be stoned. But the Roman law forbade the Jews from executing people. So the Pharisees ask Jesus what should be done to the woman. The leaders think this is a perfect trap. If Jesus upholds the Law of Moses, they will report Him to the Romans. If Jesus doesnt uphold Moses command, He will loose his popularity with the people. But Jesus had come to bring in a new way, that superseded the Law of Moses. The Pharisees find that rather than trapping Jesus, He turns it around and makes everyone else feel ashamed. One of the characteristics of a mature Christian is they are a person who rests confidently in God. Our confidence in God should give us a holy boldness so that we say Though I walk through the valley of death, I fear no evil. Our first worship service ever as Community Life Church! This was a very special day for our family, as we were outside in the parking lot, hosting a drive-in service to kick off this new thing!

The message is an exposition of John chapter 7, which focuses on what other people were saying about Jesus rather than His teaching. Believers can have confidence in God because He cares for us and that He loves to bless people abundantly. God is generous and wants people to enjoy life and enjoy His provision. Paul boldly proclaims My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
