Welcome to "The Bible in Today's World", the show that compares today's world with the Word of God. In general and specifically, are we following the Bible in our daily walks? Is society demanding that we follow the Word of God in all that we do? Does our Almighty Father look upon us and frequently say, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" - or is He thinking of us as He thought/thinks of Sodom and Gomorrah? On today's show (Replay of Episode #27), we will explore "Christmas." We will also replay an interview with LIBBIE HALL. Libbie Hall, joined us to discuss her newest release, "Five: The Women in the Genealogy of Jesus", today featuring MARY. From Her Website: "Libbie Hall is married to Brian and they have 3 children and two dogs. She has been leading worship for over twenty years. She loves to lead Bible studies, read, and drink coffee. Libbie also loves the beach. Although she is in Michigan now she grew up in Southern California and also spent a few years in central Texas. Freezing weather is not her friend. But she does love snow at Christmas. Mostly she loves Jesus and writing about her life with Him. From Her Amazon Page: "Libbie Hall is an author, speaker and founder of Called to More. Her mission is to empower women through the Word of God and help them understand that whether they are a business woman, minister or stay at home mom, they have been called to more than they could ever imagine. Libbie has faced her fair share of struggles and believes that sharing them with other women will help them overcome. As a minister and former Creative Arts Pastor, Libbie has spent over 20 years developing ministry teams and leading worship. She is married to Brian and they have 3 incredible children and one completely amazing granddaughter. She is also a dog mom, beach lover and fan of intense laughter." https://libbiehall.com

In this week's episode, we have Lula Street Records artist Todd McVicker sharing about the inspiration behind his song “Even Here Love Comes.” During a life-altering mission trip to the Philippines, Todd had a divine encounter that shook him to his core and compelled him to pen this anthem from the perspective of a young girl trapped in unimaginable darkness. He recounts how he felt Spirit-led to speak with this girl, who turned out to have an unexpected background that only heightened the trauma of her current circumstance. Todd also describes the full-circle moment when this same girl ended up lending her voice to the song in a profound recording session that captures the authenticity of the lyrics. You'll have to tune in to learn the specifics of this powerful story of freedom shining into even the darkest places. Lula Street Artist Todd McVicker connects us to Jesus with his beautiful authentic lyrics and diverse sounds. influenced by harmonic R&B and shaped by many diverse genres, Todd's music truly embodies his unique style. Growing up immersed in visual and performing arts, he is now blessing us a Creative Arts Pastor, songwriter, and producer for over a decade. His journey has led him to step away from the traditional sound of Christian music, offering a fresh perspective on worship. His latest release, a Lofi version of “All Because of Love,” is a testament to the greatest love we've ever known. The vocoder vocals synth and captivating Lofi groove strips away life's busyness and draws closer to His love. Journey Church Sunday Worship Gathering Audio - Bozeman, Montana

Brandon Edwards | Worship & Creative Arts Pastor “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” John 15:9-16 (NIV) “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.” John 17:13-19 (NIV) “The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing, I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.’ So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.” Genesis 12:1-4 (NIV) Reflection Questions:1) Friends on mission can start with friendship or start with mission. Who is a friend that you could start being intentional with praying together or serving together? 2) Who is someone you are already serving with that you could have a meal with or do something socially with outside serving? 3) What is stopping you from pursuing being a friend on mission? 4) Have you considered being part of a Journey Community or helping host a Journey Community? (00:00-38:12): We are privileged to be joined by Pastor Ron Heitman from Evangel Assembly of God in Hanover Park. He starts by talking about his history in ministry and how he came to be a church leader. Evangel Church is remarkably diverse, with 55+ nations represented on 2 campuses. He also touches on the stigma of Assemblies of God. How are they viewed? Ron has had substantial experiences with miracles first-hand. A family in a third-world country received where his parents were working received an envelope from a mysterious “Mary Smith”. It contained money and a letter of encouragement, unprovoked. Later on, his father went to meet this woman, and she miraculously knew his name and his wife’s name. (39:15-1:18:05): Ian’s college friend and the Creative Arts Pastor at First Baptist Church in Elgin, Joshua Hoegh joins us. He talks about his upbringing in music, specifically on the piano. He shares his introversion and how it sometimes juxtaposes his role as a worship leader. He and his wife Melissa live in a dorm at Judson, as she is a resident director; which is also an ironic situation for an introvert. He is speaking at the FILO Chicago event in May on Scenic Design on a Dime. He wants to create a good balance with being creative in the church while working in the gospel.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
