HTHB Ep. 77: "What Is Dead May Never Die" featuring Matt McSweeney by Hot Take Hot Box
Wrapping up our graduate school week, I had an interesting experience that taught me a good bit about what is old...may not be dead. Just because loud voices like to announce the death of something, does not mean that the sky is necessarily falling. It's not really a binary paradigm in community banking. Said another way...it's not either/or. It's both/and. See, we have to be good at all aspects of human interaction and human relationships today. If you'll go back and listen to our episode with the Arkansas State students...you'll see that half of them never wanted to set foot in a branch and the other half did. These were well informed students of banking and finance too, mind you. So, with apologies to the Greyjoys of the Iron Islands...what is "dead" may truly never die. On tonight's episode of Talkin' Thrones, we've got a huge one, arguably the first gangbuster episode of a gangbuster season. Season 2, Episode 3, entitled What is Dead may never Die! The Greyjoy phrase to describe their way of life, which fits because Theon Greyjoy & House Greyjoy are our Focus Character and GOT-chaverse segment tonight! This is such a jam packed episode, because things are ramping up in the war of the 5 Kings. North of the Wall, Jon Snow is confronted with the horrible truth of what Craster does to his sons. Then we get to the three main storylines of the episode: Catelyn Stark arrives at Renly Baratheon's camp, where we meet two new major characters: Margaery Tyrell and Brienne of Tarth. In King's Landing, Tyrion makes the power play to end all power plays by wisely figuring out who Cersei's informant is. On the Iron Islands, Theon finds himself between a rock and a hard place when he learns his father's plans to attack the North while Robb is away at war, and makes a horrible decision. And finally to end it all, Arya's camp is attacked and she is taken prisoner by the Lannisters. It was a crazy episode with a lot of stuff happening, and we hope you continue to join us for more every week, it's all covered here on tonight's episode of #talkinthrones --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

It's season 2, episode 3, 'What is Dead May Never Die'. Alliances are formed and broken across a thematically rich visit to the Seven Kingdoms. We lose Lommy (not Lommy!); we're curious about what's happening to Littlefinger's voice, and we find out which King's Landing adviser is snitching on Colleen Rooney.
Joe and Todd talk about the risks that companies take to take on adaptations like this to start off their commentary of Season 2, Episode 3, What Is Dead May Never Die. In light of Bran's dreams, Joe shares a strange one that he had recently. Joe talks about the lower budgets of earlier HBO Projects and they reflect on some other series that they enjoyed. Joe wishes that actors could bring the skills from their other movie characters into new projects. Bathroom etiquette in Westeros is discussed. Todd reveals which members of Marvel's Defenders had gay roles before they became Defenders. Todd doesn't know, but he has foreshadowed some major events in the show. Joe explains how the TV Show passed the book's story and started telling their own version of the story. Joe pitches a spinoff based solely on the Night's Watch. With the Wars of the Roses now thoroughly underway between King Henry VI, Queen Margaret, and the Duke of York, we get to witness England descend into a state of barbarism -- ruled by a king who wonders why we can’t all just get along. Full of increasingly intense battle and betrayal, Henry VI, Part 3 brings the degradation of civil war to life -- and reveals Shakespeare’s first fully fleshed out character in the Machivellian Richard, Duke of Gloucester -- and soon to be King Richard III. // CREDITS // Intro Music: Jon Sayles, "The Witches' Dance" (composed by anonymous); Outro Music: Jon Sayles, “Saltarello” (composed by anonymous); illustrative excerpts from: A Game of Thrones, Season 2, Episode 3, “What is Dead May Never Die,” dir. In this Episode, I recorded Dr. Jim Brosnon from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville as he gave his talk at the 2020 Tennessee Turfgrass Association Conference. This was an in depth discussion about his research and the results of those research studies. You will hear about recent trends and the challenges with controlling weeds and what you can expect and some practical solutions going forward. Dr. Brosnon is a leader and highly knowledgable in this area and this talk was well attended and highly received. It is a variance from my normal interview based podcasts but as I move into more available content, giving you more resources to refer to is the goal. I hope you enjoy this one. Thanks for listening and if you care to leave a comment or feedback, that would be appreciated. This week on Game of Microphones Series Rewatch Duncan and Kristin cover Game of Thrones Season 2 Episode 3, “What Is Dead May Never Die”. There’s lots of juicy material to analyze this episode as Theon betrays Robb amidst his constant identity crisis, we meet two strong women Brienne and Margaery, and rejoice at the respect that the series offers towards strong female characters. We remark on how Balon Greyjoy is a progressive and regressive as a leader, as he puts Yara in a position of power and orders his forces to reave and pillage. We see how Arya learned to recite her list of names, and say farewell to fan favorite Yoren, who goes out in mega badass style. This episode is also memorable as the we witness the first of Tyrion’s spectacular machinations in King’s Landing as he outwits Pycelle, Varys, and Littlefinger. Jim and A.Ron continue their re-watch campaign of HBO’s Game of Thrones with “What is Dead May Never Die”. There is some really strong stuff in here; Tyrion’s canary trap for the Small Council, the heroic and badass last stand of Yoren, the introduction of two fantastic new characters in the forms of Brienne of Tarth and Margary Tyrell. But there is also some less fun stuff; like anything to do with Shae. But all in all a great episode despite not featuring Dany or Robb. All this discussion, plus a healthy heaping of feedback ahead! Johnny and Alex discuss season 2, episode 3 of "Game of Thrones," "What is Dead May Never Die," along with the corresponding chapters of A Clash of Kings. Spoilers ALL, you've been warned. In case you're having trouble remembering this episode, it's the one where Theon chooses the Dark Side. Like, a lot. Also, Tyrion drops some serious "West Wing" on the High Council his first week as Hand, and Yoren meets an untimely, if awesome death. If you're reading along with us, here's a handy guide to help you follow along, since season 2 doesn't follow ACOC quite as neatly as season 1 followed GoT. Joining us late?
