Actor and podcaster Maisie Williams presents the next chapter in the Winona Ryder story.Winona's at an age that Taylor Swift described as “happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time". And as the pressures of success pile on, she'll experience all those emotions with a new intensity. When she drops out of a huge movie due to burnout, the tabloids have a field day. Add that to a high-profile break-up, and a society with an unforgiving attitude to mental health, and you've got a recipe for a bad time. But even when she's down, Winona's never beaten. She's on the cusp of some of her most important, generation-defining work. And nobody's going to take that away from her.A Cup and Nuzzle Production. Produced by Natalie Jamieson.
Actor and podcaster Maisie Williams presents the next chapter in the Winona Ryder story. When Winona is arrested for shoplifting at Saks 5th Avenue, the press goes into overdrive. But while the tabloids tear her reputation apart, a new movement picks up speed - Free Winona. An iconic magazine cover shows Winona owning the scandal. But at the same time, the film industry is changing, and it looks like it's finally time for her to take a break from the spotlight. She'll be back. But when?A Cup and Nuzzle Production. Produced by Natalie Jamieson.
Actor and podcaster Maisie Williams presents the next chapter in the Winona Ryder story.By the mid-90s, Winona's firmly on the A-List. She uses that power to champion female writers and directors, and speaks to the hopes and fears of Generation X in 1994's Reality Bites. But it's Girl, Interrupted, a passion project 6 years in the making, that represents the high-point of her creative life so far.Its raw conversations around mental health are about to become shockingly relevant to Winona's real life. Because a new tabloid feeding frenzy is about to roar into life - one that puts everything she's worked for at risk.A Cup and Nuzzle Production. Produced by Natalie Jamieson.
Actor and podcaster Maisie Williams presents the most recent chapter in the Winona Ryder story. While Winona steps away from the spotlight in the Noughties, the film industry goes through a seismic shift. Blockbuster franchises rule the roost, while the kind of character-driven movies that made Winona's name take a back seat. But something's happening on the small screen. The Golden Age of Television is here, and Winona's about to take her place at its heart with an exciting new sci-fi project for Netflix. That's just the beginning of a new era for Winona Ryder. With it, she'll find a new generation of fans. And the future's looking bright.A Cup and Nuzzle Production. Produced by Natalie Jamieson.
Actor and podcaster Maisie Williams presents the next chapter in the Winona Ryder story. When Winona goes up for a part in 1989's Heathers, the controversial black comedy about murderous high-schoolers, her agent begs her to reconsider. But there's no stopping Winona. She'll trust her instincts, produce work that means something, and become the face of a generation.Along the way, she'll go through what we all go through. She'll meet her first love, and question what it means to be true to herself. But she'll do it in the Wild West of the 90s tabloid culture. All eyes on her. And something will have to give.A Cup and Nuzzle Production. Produced by Natalie Jamieson.
Actor and podcaster Maisie Williams presents the much-discussed, but little understood story of one of Hollywood's most iconic talents. From the day she was born, Winona Ryder was on her own path. A happy childhood, full of books and play-acting, paved the way for her discovery at just 13 years old. Before she was out of her teens, she'd star in some of the best, most interesting films of the late 80s and early 90s; movies like Beetlejuice, Heathers and Edward Scissorhands. But fame comes with a price. And Winona was about to pay it in full.A Cup and Nuzzle Production. Produced by Natalie Jamieson.
Maisie Williams explores the extraordinary life and career of Winona Ryder in this exclusive boxset.
Send us a Text Message.Ever wondered how a world partially crafted by George R.R. Martin would translate into a gaming experience? Anthony takes us on a journey through his harrowing adventures in "Elden Ring," battling fearsome foes and navigating an intricate lore-packed universe. We also reflect on the heartfelt feedback we received from our Lilo and Stitch episode, especially from our enthusiastic listeners in France. Plus, Dakota finally got around to watching "New Mutants," the final installment in the Fox X-Men series, and let's just say it sparked some lively discussions.Disney fans, brace yourselves! The recent D23 announcements are nothing short of exhilarating. From a new Cars Land and a Villains-themed land in Orlando to an Indiana Jones ride replacing Dinosaur, there's so much to look forward to. However, it's not all smooth sailing—current attractions like Tiana's Bayou Adventure are facing some hiccups. Meanwhile, we can't help but wonder what the future holds for Marvel's announced projects, given the recent inconsistencies in MCU's timeline."New Mutants" may not have lived up to its horror-centric hype, but its student-film like charm and unique character dynamics offer plenty to unpack. We delve into the backstories of key mutants like Magik, Wolfsbane, and Sunspot, etc. while pondering on any potential future within the X-Men universe within the MCU. Despite its many flaws, there are redeeming qualities worth discussing. And stay tuned, because after a brief break from the Fox X-Men series, we'll be back with episodes covering "Deadpool" and "Wolverine," diving deep into the iconic characters that have shaped the X-Men franchise.Twitter handles:Project Geekology: https://twitter.com/pgeekologyAnthony's Twitter: https://twitter.com/odysseyswowDakota's Twitter: https://twitter.com/geekritique_dakInstagram:https://instagram.com/projectgeekology?igshid=1v0sits7ipq9yGeekritique (Dakota):https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBwciIqOoHwIx_uXtYTSEbAEvery Time THE ACOLYTE Broke Canon (...or didn't?):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL1C_OWrp5c&tTwitch (Anthony):https://www.twitch.tv/odysseywowSupport the Show.

Marketing is a game. It has its own players, rules and rewards. And the stakes are high. So we're here to help you win the battle for the Iron Throne. In this episode, we're bingeing the epic HBO drama Game of Thrones to see what it can teach us about playing the game of marketing. Here to help us is Datadog CMO Alex Rosemblat. And together, we're exploring how to win the battle by keeping your oath, using the rules of the game to your advantage, and putting your dragons to good use. So don your furs and prepare for battle as we charge into this episode of Remarkable.About our guest, Alex RosemblatAlex Rosemblat is Chief Marketing Officer at Datadog. Prior to his current role, Alex served as the Product Marketer for Dell's Cloud and Virtualization product family (via the acquisition of VKernel), bringing virtualization management and cloud monitoring software products to market. Alex has 15 years of experience with enterprise software and related technologies through product management, IT consulting, and pre-sales engineering with Symantec (via the acquisition of SwapDrive) and Epic Systems Corporation. He has spent the last 8+ years at DataDog, and helped lead the company to its successful IPO in 2019.About DatadogDatadog is a SaaS-based monitoring and analytics platform for large-scale applications and infrastructure. Combining real-time metrics from servers, containers, databases, and applications with end-to-end tracing, Datadog delivers actionable alerts and powerful visualizations to provide full-stack observability.About Game of ThronesGame of Thrones is a massively successful epic fantasy series with an impassioned following. It's about a civil war among noble families who are fighting for control over the iron throne that rules the lands of Westeros. Meanwhile an ancient enemy - the Night King - returns after being dormant for thousands of years. There are three major plot lines: the first is about the fight for the iron throne among the families. The second is about the rightful heir coming back to claim the throne. And the third is about the incoming winter, as seasons don't have a worldly timeline, and so the summer has lasted something like a decade. The winter also implies hard times and the threat from the North, where the wildlings and Night King live. It's based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin published in 1996. The series was created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for HBO. And it has a massive ensemble cast of over 500 characters. The show stars Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, and more. It premiered in 2011 with eight seasons that wrapped up in 2019. That year, it was HBO's most watched show and the most watched scripted show on TV, period. It had a total show budget of $1.5 Billion, and has earned $3.1 Billion through HBO subscriptions alone as of May 2019. It was filmed in the United Kingdom, Canada, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, and Spain. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Game of Thrones: Keep your oath. And only market what you can deliver. It's when you live up to your oath that you build trust and earn brand loyalty. Ian says, “If you say you're going to do something in your marketing, you better be damn sure that sales can deliver on that, that your product can deliver on it, and that customer success is going to be there if you fall short of that. Because so often we get out way over our skis. We're pitching a product that doesn't exist yet. And that's going to make people way madder than if you just didn't promise it in the first place.” So don't break your oath like Jamie Lannister did when he killed the king. Ian says, “That follows him forever.” So keep your brand promise - or your “oath” - and deliver on what you market.Play the marketing game. Be strategic in your marketing tactics. Experiment and use what works. And don't overthink it. Small, steady successes are how you win the game. Alex says, “In demand gen sometimes you set up ads that are kind of gimmicky, and it'd be nice to do something a little bit more cerebral. But hey, you know, people like the jingle or, you know, whatever it is. And I think that there's a fair amount of pragmatism If you stick to that and you don't have this big ideology or this grand picture that you're trying to fill the pieces on. You just keep on stringing together successes of what works even if they're very moderate and small scale. Everything is a stepwise function, and you build your way up pretty high, just like Bronn does in the show.”If you have dragons, use them. Don't chain them up. Alex says that especially if you're a startup, you need all the help you can get getting your brand off the ground. He says, “If you have any kind of secret weapon, you better use it. And you're probably going to want to use it pretty early on. You're not going to want to sit on it.” So call up your old classmates who are well connected. Leverage the talents and skills of your employees to make something great. For Alex, he said his secret weapon was that “I understood the persona we were selling to super well. And everything that went out the door was uniquely tailored to what a technical person would react well to. And the stats at the other end just kind of pop off the charts.”Quotes*”Being good at growth marketing is being scrappy. Trying things out, not being afraid to lean into something even if it is a little bit hacky if it works. Never overstepping your bounds, and understanding that the world works a certain way.” - Alex RosemblatTime Stamps[0:55] Meet Alex Rosemblat, CMO at Datadog[2:32] What is Datadog? It's been a mere 900 years since last week's episode, and it's time to check in with Ashildr to see if she's still the naive and loving young girl she was back in her Viking village days. Or — like the rest of us — has she simply turned into Peter Capaldi's Doctor? It's The Woman Who Lived. Notes and links Nathan refers to the Blackadder the Third episode Amy and Amiability in which a young woman played by Miranda Richardson disguises herself as a highwayman called the Shadow, who has a serious problem with squirrels. The first scene of this story is very much written by someone who remembers that episode. In his massive best seller Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell proposes the theory that it takes 10,000 hours to become really proficient at something. If you want to hear two of our favourite podcasters rip Gladwell's book apart, they do that in an episode of their podcast If Books Could Kill. Richard mentions the Sydney Theatre Company's 2020 production of The Picture of Dorian Gray, directed by Kip Williams and starring Eryn Jean Norvill as the only cast member, playing no less than 26 characters. Williams is bringing that production to London's West End in 2024, starring Succession's Sarah Snook. The Doctor Who production crew gave Maisie Williams and Rufus Hound video cameras so that they could record things that took place during the production. One of Rufus's videos made it onto the Series 9 blu-ray release; three of them can be found on the BBC's YouTube channel — here, here, and here. Watch them: they're adorable. Picks of the week Todd Todd recommends the Torchwood episodes also written by Catherine Tregenna, particularly the sad and beautiful Captain Jack Harkness, as well as Meat and Adam (and Out of Time, a brilliant episode that we didn't mention). Simon Simon wants you watch The Beast (2023) starring Léa Seydoux, who played James Bond's love interest in the two most recent films. It's a romance set in three different time periods, 1910, 2014 and 2044. It's due for release some time early next year. Richard Richard has headed into Big Finish territory, particularly those stories starring Rufus Hound as the Monk, particularly The Missy Adventures, whose first three box sets also feature Rufus Hound. He also appears with Tim Treloar and Katy Manning in Volume 4 of The Third Doctor Adventures. Nathan Nathan's back on his Star Trek thing again, and this time it's Star Trek: Lower Decks Series 4, which is nearing its end as we release this episode. You can also catch our coverage of Lower Decks on Untitled Star Trek Project. Follow us Nathan is on X as @nathanbottomley, Richard is @RichardLStone, Todd is @toddbeilby,and Simon is @simonmoore72. A couple of our podcasts are finished or on hiatus right now. Jodie into Terror was our flashcast on every episode of the Whittaker era, recorded just a couple of days after the broadcast of the episode. Bondfinger is our James Bond commentary podcast, which also covers some of our favourite spy-fi TV shows of the sixties and seventies. Maximum Power is back! Our podcast about Blakes 7, co-produced with the Trap One podcast, returns today with a pre-Series C episode based on the Big Finish Blakes 7 story Warship, set between Star One and Aftermath. We'll be back each week to cover each episode of Series C. And finally, there's our Star Trek commentary podcast, Untitled Star Trek Project, featuring Nathan and friend-of-the-podcast Joe Ford. This week we watched a surprisingly enjoyable episode of Star Trek: Voyager, which gave Janeway and Chatokay some time to pursue a mostly non-cringeworthy romantic relationship.
Welcome to Episode 125 of The Madhappy Podcast. This week, we are running one of our favorite episodes from the archive. We are excited to welcome Maisie Williams onto the show to hear more about her experiences starring as a young actress on a globally renowned television series and the effects it has had on her mental health. Peiman asks Maisie how she worked to balance her personal and professional life throughout her time on set (9:17), leading the two into a conversation about personas and people pleasing (16:57). Maisie speaks about her experiences with therapy, sharing how she worked to build a toolkit to support her mental health on an ongoing basis (22:48). We're back, finally, watching our first episode of series 9, finally, with a guest, finally! Friend of the Show Roy joins us to discuss series 9 episode 6, "The Woman Who Lived"! What would happen if the Twelfth Doctor gave the gift of immortality to Maisie Williams? What if immortality was not a gift... but a curse? What if you could delay your execution by making dick jokes to a crowd of angry peasants? This episode has a lot of ideas, and a kitty cat man. Game of Thrones Season 8 has just wrapped up filming and now, Maisie Williams is ready to chat with Rob in this episode of The Disruptors Podcast! Aside from being a professional actress and a dancer, Maisie is also an entrepreneur. Like her Arya Stark character, Maisie is bold and eager to show her passion project to everyone. Maisie and Rob talk about her startup Daisie, the newest social app for creatives. Discover what inspired her to start this app, how she finds the investors, and how she is growing her team. Rob and Maisie talk a lot of stuff over coffee – from the dry spells in the acting world to the meaning of success to her first acting gig as Arya Stark! KEY TAKEAWAYS Success is measured through happiness. That's what Maisie believes. It doesn't matter if you're getting a lot of money or getting a lot of projects when you're unhappy. There's fulfilment when you do what you love. Maisie is an actress and dancer. She loves performing for people and making them happy. She believes this is where her strengths lie. Maisie just started Daisie, the newest social app which especially caters to the entertainment industry. It serves as a platform for the newcomers to meet and collaborate with the creative community. Maisie says, ‘'It's a LinkedIn for the creative people.” If you want to build your team of creatives, you can meet and hire from the app. Download Daisie app and start collaborating. Maisie is thinking of adding a Github-like platform for creatives where you post your works so that others could edit it or merge it with other works. If you can't find VCs or funders, you can self-fund. Maisie and her business partner chose to fund the first leg of the Daisie app but on its upgrade, they are looking into finding the right people to fund them. They want to find people that can help their business grow and connect them with other people. BEST MOMENTS "Doing less acting roles wouldn't be less successful because that makes me happier." – Maisie “To be able to have a group of people that are all really excited about the same thing and want success for the company that you started, that's all you could really ask for.” – Maisie “I don't think that there is a formula to do it right – to handle your career.” – Maisie ABOUT MAISIE WILLIAMS Maisie Williams is an English actress who made her professional acting debut as Arya Stark in the award-winning HBO Series Game of Thrones. Maisie Williams is one of the biggest actors in the world today. One of the breakout stars of Game of Thrones, Maisie hasn't known a normal life since she was 11 years old when she was cast in the biggest tv show in the world. In this pathfinding and boundary-breaking conversation, Maisie reveals for the first time just how hard her start in life was. Even close to home, she had to overcome those who didn't believe in her, and has had to battle through mental health issues ever since. Few journeys we've seen of people being able to define and find meaning in their own life despite those who doubt them are as inspiring as the one we've seen with Maisie. We are so proud of Maisie for bringing courage and honesty to the table today. It's nothing less than the norm for her, because she's shown courage and honesty all her life. Not only is this episode late, but I am going to give you this warning up front: Jenn and Kelsey's audio sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone. One day we will have our shit together again. Anyway, please enjoy this episode about 2018's Mary Shelley, starring Elle Fanning, Maisie Williams, Stephen Dillane, and various other young attractive people playing a bunch of brooding romantic poets. Ever sit down and think about how the year 1816 was truly a shitshow? Don't worry, we'll do it for you.
Only a group as seismic as The Sex Pistols could bring the Empire Podcast and the Pilot TV Podcast together once again. Yes, to mark the launch of Danny Boyle's brand-new six-part series, Pistol, on Disney+, Chris Hewitt, James Dyer, and Beth Webb put their collective noggins together and discuss the show, which debuts on Disney+ on May 31, and which charts the rapid rise and fall of the British punk band towards the tail end of the 1970s. In a fun episode, Chris, James and Beth talk about the cultural impact of Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Sid Vicious and the boys; their legacy; their weird link to the Spice Girls, and much, much more. Plus, Chris sits down with two of the stars of the show, Maisie Williams and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and asks one of them about nicking Andy Serkis' arancini at the Empire Awards. It doesn't get much more punk than that. Never mind the you-know-what, here's [Empire and Pilot talking about] the Sex Pistols.
