Preparing His Bride | Apr 19, 2025 Life will test you. These tests aren't punishments but opportunities to demonstrate what you've learned and who you're becoming. Just as manufacturers thoroughly test products before release, your character develops through challenges. Focus your vision on becoming like Christ. While worldly achievements—careers, possessions, status—eventually fade and lead to retirement, your spiritual growth as a son or daughter of God is eternal. You can never retire from being a child of your Father. Watch where you fix your gaze. Social media, entertainment, and advertising constantly compete for your attention, pulling it away from spiritual growth. Make the deliberate choice to look to Jesus as your model. Pride can be more dangerous than weakness. Religious sin stems from seeing yourself as superior, while sins of weakness come from human frailty. Both require humility to overcome. Remember you're part of something larger. Don't pursue spiritual growth selfishly. You're a living stone in God's temple, a specific part of Christ's body. Your personal transformation contributes to the collective manifestation of God's family on earth. Align yourself with God's pattern. The smallest deviation from His template can cause significant problems. Your spiritual alignment requires your soul (mind, will, emotions) and body to come into harmony with your renewed spirit, which is aligned with God. The highest form of priesthood moves beyond religious obligation to loving service. Ask yourself if you serve God out of duty or delight. Unity in the body of Christ isn't optional—it's essential. The less honorable parts need covering and support, not gossip or judgment. Remember, you weren't always honorable yourself. Your transformation follows a pattern of testing, much like Christ's wilderness experience. Through these tests, you learn to overcome temptation by relying on God's word rather than your flesh. Pursue this journey with complete dedication. Desire God's word as you would treasure, understanding its power to transform you into a representative of heaven on earth. Read OnlineTurning to the disciples in private he said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.” Luke 10:23–24 What did the disciples see that made their eyes “blessed?” Clearly, they were blessed to see our Lord. Jesus was the One promised by the prophets and kings of old, and now He was there, in flesh and bone, present for the disciples to see Him. Though we do not have the privilege to “see” our Lord in the same way that the disciples did some 2,000 years ago, we are privileged to see Him in countless other ways in our daily lives, if we only have “eyes that see” and ears to hear.Since the time of Jesus' appearance on Earth, in the flesh, so much has changed. The Apostles were eventually filled with the Holy Spirit and sent forth on a mission to change the world. The Church was established, the Sacraments were instituted, the teaching authority of Christ was exercised, and countless saints have given witness to the Truth with their lives. The past 2,000 years have been years in which Christ was continually made manifest to the world in countless ways.Today, Christ is still present and continues to stand before us. If we have the eyes and ears of faith, we will not miss Him day in and day out. We will see and understand the countless ways that He speaks to us, leads us and guides us today. The first step toward this gift of sight and hearing is your desire. Do you desire the Truth? Do you desire to see Christ? Or are you satisfied with the many confusions of life that seek to distract you from what is most real and most life-changing?Reflect, today, upon your desire. The prophets and kings of old “desired” to see the Messiah. We are privileged to have Him alive in our presence today, speaking to us and calling to us continually. Foster within yourself a desire for our Lord. Allow it to become a blazing flame which longs to consume all that is true and all that is good. Desire God. Desire His Truth. Desire His guiding hand in your life and allow Him to bless you beyond what you can fathom. My divine Lord, I know You are alive today, speaking to me, calling me and revealing to me Your glorious presence. Help me to desire You and, within that desire, to turn to You with all my heart. I love You, my Lord. Help me to love You more. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2024 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. As we continue with our So Much More series, join Pastor Bruce as he takes us through having a desire for God and growing in faith. .Hebrews 11:32 says: What more can I say? There isn't time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets. Through faith, they conquered kingdoms, brought justice, and received promises. They shut the mouths of lions, survived fire, and escaped the sword. Their weakness turned to strength, and they became powerful in battle, defeating enemies. Even though they were praised for their faith, none of them saw what was promised because God planned something better, which includes us. None of them were perfect—they had flaws, insecurities, and made mistakes, but they still took steps of faith and overcame their struggles.Gideon struggled with his status, Barak had doubts, Samson had weaknesses, Jephthah was the son of a prostitute, and Samuel was separated from his mother. Yet, they overcame their past and trusted God's plan for more. How does this connect to us? 2 Peter tells us that God has given us everything we need for a godly life. By trusting in His promises, we can take part in His divine nature, escaping the world's corruption. We should add to our faith goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, love, and more. These qualities will help us be productive and effective in knowing Jesus. Without them, we're blind, forgetting we've been forgiven.Think of it like baking a cake: You can have all the ingredients, but if you don't put it in the oven, nothing will happen. Similarly, faith is the seed that activates grace in our lives, leading to growth. Without faith, we become ineffective and unproductive. It's through the process of sanctification, being purified from sin, that we grow in God.Philippians reminds us to work hard in showing our faith because God is giving us both the desire and power to do what pleases Him. Jesus said, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and follow me." This means abandoning our old ways and embracing God's will.In the end, there is so much more for us—more than just for ourselves, but for those who come after us. Like those before us, we must trust in God's promises and keep our faith strong. There's more at stake than we realize, just as Jesus knew when He faced the cross.

A lot of churches today present the message of “special sinners” or a “special way of salvation” and neither one of those is biblical. None of us are born to desire God, and none of us have “special sins.” We're all born with a dark heart. We're all sinners in need of salvation. We cannot save ourselves, and we must recognize that salvation doesn't come by doing good deeds, or hearing words from a minister that make us “feel good.” It comes by hearing the words of faith. Christians know we should pray, but do we really understand why and how? In this episode we discuss ways we overcomplicate prayer, ways we sell prayer short and practical helps to keep us focused as we pray. We answer a question about what to do when we don't 'feel' desire for God and wrap it up with a compiled top 10 list of annoying board/card games.
Episode 24 of Victory Vision covers the questions on how to Desire God when we have become dull of hearing.
Without understanding and insight from God, personal wisdom may become worldly knowledge rather than true godly instruction. Our perfect mentor to follow in every area is Jesus. If it's true that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him, then the fight to be happy in God is the most important thing in life.
God does everything for his glory. Therefore, you don't need health, wealth, or prosperity in order to be happy.
