Following the release of his 'Balcony Acid EP' the Metalheadz Podcast returns with Finnish electronic music producer and breakbeat veteran Fanu. Tune in for 90 mins plus of the finest beats at varying tempos.
Our first label podcast of the year comes from Perth based Jaise, fresh off the back of the release of his second METHXX EP in December 2022. Lock in for a near 2 hour selection of the finest cutting edge Drum and Bass.
Fresh from launching our new HeadzState label we're delighted to have Binary State (aka Nookie) stepping up for an eclectic selection representing the next Metalheadz podcast.
Loxy's back at the controls of the Metalheadz podcast for the first time since 2011 with a near 3 hour journey through the freshest of drum and bass styles in typical Grim Reaper fashion.
Metalheadz Podcast 72 and the first of the year comes from Friske with a showcase of self-productions and current favourites. Now with an album under his belt, Friske has been working away behind the scenes on new music for Metalheadz as well as his own imprint Requisite Music.
2 years on from his debut album we welcome Agzilla to the Metalheadz podcast series with a colossal 4 hour mix of breakbeats celebrating his prominent tastes, influences and current favourites. As a veteran DJ and pioneer of the underground sound in Iceland, Agzilla has remained connected to Metalheadz since his first meeting with Goldie way back in 1991. That relationship and affinity with the label led to the release of the aforementioned debut album in 2019. Entitled 'Cats Can Hear Ultrasound', the 13 track LP covers a diverse range of BPMs and styles, blurring the lines between the rough and the smooth and emerging as an authentic body of music for the years to come.
Our first podcast of 2021 comes from Mako, a staple of the Metalheadz camp and an artist that has released both a solo album and a collab album (as OneMind) on the label in recent years. For this edition the Bristol-based producer and DJ has dug deep into his crates to deliver a Certificate 18 special, a groundbreaking label founded by Paul Arnold in 1993 that went on to nurture the talents of early pioneering figures such as Photek, Source Direct, Teebee, Klute and more. In Goldie's own words "Certificate 18 isn't really a label, in the same way that Ibiza Records isn't a label, in the same way that Kikman Records isn't a label. It's the very foundation. It's a certain parallax with those labels that sometimes when we're in the dark we need to shine a brighter light on those that have paved the way."
Stepping up for the next label podcast is Quartz, somebody who first appeared on Metalheadz in 2018. Since then the Cardiff based producer has honed and refined his already distinctive sound, so much so he now has an impending debut main label EP set for release later this year. In this near 3 hour podcast Quartz explores the 170 spectrum before ending on some favourites from his own personal collection.
Stepping up for their first official podcast since joining the label in 2014, SCAR are a duo who've now delivered 2 albums with work on their 3rd already ongoing. This electic podcast looks at their influences and personal tastes ranging from Orbital, Meat Beat Manifesto, Moby, Carl Cox, 2 Bad Mice and many more.

Enjoy this live recording of the Plump DJs (Grand Hotel Recordings) from the Space Cowboys' 13th annual Breakfast of Champions in San Francisco on New Year's Day. The Plumps were a surprise, unannounced addition to the line-up this year and to the delight of an unsuspecting crowd, they lit up the Funktion One stage as the sun was setting on yet another epic B.O.C. Big thanks to Lee and Andy for rocking Breakfast of Champions and for making this recording available to The RIPEcast. We hope you like it! Plumps DJs are internationally renown UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, whose passion for innovation and non-conformist attitude to electronic music has fuelled their fire for over a decade. Their unmistakeable signature sound has earned them recent remix commissions from the likes of Deadmau5, Mark Ronson, Moby and Orbital while their four deck live show has lead to countless international tours and shows at London's lead music venues XOYO, Fabric and the Nest. Self admitted suckers for bass and 'the groove' Gardner&Rous fuse Electro-House, Rave, Acid, Breakbeat and Techno into their own unique style they call 'Plump Music'. They have received years of unprecedented cross genre support from the electro and bass music scenes, and their success continues to grow with their well supported 'Dirty Weekend' mix on newly formed record label, Grand Hotel Records. Dirty Weekend is the appropriately named new mix from the Plumps, containing dance floor focused music from recent Plump inspirations The Loops of Fury, Detboi, Reset!, Nom De Strip, Blatta&Inesha, Urchins and Will Bailey. Plus sterling exclusive remixes from longtime compadres NAPT, Stanton Warriors and Peo De Pitte. It also features original music from freshly signed Grand Hotel Records artistes, Bonsai Kat and SUBMO. Dirty Weekend has gathered support and plays from the likes of BBC Radio 1 DJ's Annie Mac, Mista Jam and Annie Nightingale, galvanizing an already established list of Plump enthusiasts which includes A. Track, Zinc Porter Robinson, Laidback luke, Armand Van Helden, Norman Cook and Carl Cox. The Plump DJs have a compelling history of success, cemented by their musical collaborations with legendary vocalists Gary Numan, Jermaine Jackson and Louise Rhodes, a ten year residency at Fabric Nightclub and over 1200 international shows. They are true innovators of sound who proudly co-created the popular breakbeat genre of the last decade with their initial releases on Fingerlickin Records. Known as pioneers of production whose shared passion for electronic music and the art of making people dance, they have inspired a generation of dance floor experiments. The ever evolving sound of Plump Djs continues to be met with enthusiasm from discerning dance music fans worldwide. Listen then to the sound of Plump Music. Panda proudly presents one of the hottest artists in electro house Hervé. The London-based producer also known as Joshua Harvey is here with us today in a 30-minute exclusive guest mix. From reaching the #1 spot in the UK Dance Chart with "Beeper", collaborating with the legendary Fatboy Slim to produce "Machines Can Do the Work" to becoming an overnight sensation when his track "Together" became one of dance music's anthems of 2010, Hervé has been continuously pushing his music forward since he made his debut in 2006.
