Kairogen is a Glasgow-based artist whose unique sound seamlessly blends ambient house and deep techno, creating an exciting and distinctive identity within the electronic music scene. The name "Kairogen" is a creation of the artist, derived from the Greek words "kairos" meaning the right moment, and "gen" meaning to generate or create.   This name encapsulates the artist's belief in the power of seizing opportunities to create and inspire others to cultivate their own conditions for creativity to flourish. Kairogen's journey into music production began during her time at art school when a lecturer suggested incorporating a sound piece into an installation project. This sparked her passion for club culture and led her to delve into the world of Detroit techno and electronic music as an art form.   Through her work in album art and her experiences at Sub Club, a renowned nightclub, Kairogen gained a deep understanding of the electronic music scene and honed her musical preferences. The influence of peak-time music in the club environment has greatly impacted her own artistic style, driving her to explore sounds that complement the edges of dance music. Inspired by the drama and tension found in DJ sets, she gravitates towards the ambient and experimental side of the electronic spectrum.   Kairogen has already played at some of the best clubs and festivals in the scene, performing alongside well known artists within the scene such as Avalon Emerson, Slam and Amelie Lens. Our first premiere comes from London based producer Alex Virgo who steps up to remix The Daddy Squad, a project from Andrew Armstrong. Virgo inject some indie-dance flavour into the original track as surging synth lines play off chugging vintage style bass and triumphant pads. The Daddy Squad project continues to gain pace, as Andrew Armstrong releases the second single from his debut album coming out this June. Continuing to firmly mark out a corner for himself in the Italo disco/ indie dance scene, All Day All Night Automatic includes a remix from Alex Virgo and follows on from the single We Can Work It Out featuring Vhyce and Mala Ika remixes. The album has seen early supported from the likes of Pete Tong, Horse Meat Disco, Boys' Shorts, Cormac, Massimiliano Pagliara, through to Chloe Caillet and Avalon Emerson, amongst others. This is a setup for his debut album due later in the year. Alex Virgo's remix is a coppery slice of vintage rave nuances as the UK house producer showcases his prowess in the world of 80's inspired club music. Chugging metallic style grooves that simply scream ‘go', Virgo hones in on mechanised auto-tuned vocals that roll over the top a rolling italo style bassline and soaring synth lines. A strong drum groove and elated pads complete the bill for a classy piece of indie-dance. Co-mixed with @Aasthma. There are few people who have had as much of an impact on contemporary electronic music as Karin Dreijer, whether with their brother Olof in The Knife or with their solo project, Fever Ray. From massive indie-pop hits to paradigm-shifting dance records, Dreijer's work takes a psychedelic, plasticine approach to synth pop, with their trademark pitch-shifted vocals and psuedo-tropical beats. As Fever Ray, they've tapped into the global club music underground, working with producers like Nídia, Paula Temple, Deena Abdelwahed, Vessel and, on new album Radical Romantics—one of our favourite albums of the year so far at RA, hands down—even Nine Inch Nails. Another important collaborator in Dreijer's world is Peder Mannerfelt, the Swedish techno producer who has been working with Fever Ray since the first album back in 2009. He co-mixed this RA Podcast as part of Aasthma, his duo with Pär Grindvik. The mix is a survey of Dreijer's favourite dance music, some of which informs their one-of-a-kind sound world as Fever Ray. There's plenty of music from the groundbreaking East African scene centered around Nyege Nyege Tapes, plus DJ Haram, Equinkoxx, Tayhana and more, and even two exclusive, upcoming Fever Ray remixes from Avalon Emerson and Nifra. He is now a student in Roma Sound Design school, where he is completing his Sound Engineering, Sound Design and Analog Synthesizer Programming studies, being taught by Enrico Cosimi (one of the leading international experts in Sound Synthesis, musician, composer and beta-tester) and Francesco Bonomo (M.A. in Sound Engineering's main Lecturer in Rome's Tor Vergata University). His debut EP is now being recorded in Rome's Mooger Studio.
