ESPN's Mike Greenberg thinks the Steelers are a quarterback away from being a Super Bowl team. Crowley doesn't think he should say that given Greenberg also thinks Mike Tomlin does more with less and the roster isn't great. Dorin countered that most if not all teams are a quarterback away. Would Mahomes win nine games on the Panthers?
Bo and the crew talk about if Jim Harbaugh could leave college football for the Chargers, the favorites to watch in the college playoffs and if the Saints could make a coaching change in the second hour of the show live in the BankPlus Studio. The guys listen to audio from Michigan insider Steve Deace and ESPN's Mike Greenberg talking about the likelihood of Jim Harbaugh going to the Chargers. Bo talks about how the Packers were able to take down the Chiefs and what some people have been saying about Green Bay QB Jordan Love. New Orleans Saints and LSU insider Mike Detillier joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line talking about all things NFL live in the BankPlus Studio. Mike looks at the way San Francisco beat up on the Eagles and how they are undoubtedly the best team in the NFC. Mike thinks the #2 spot in the NFC is a close fight because the Eagles have a good record against bad teams and the Cowboys show a strong balance. Bo asks Mike about where the Lions fall in the discussion and he thinks they are a clear cut #4 with a lack of a diverse defense. Mike breaks down what Saints head coach Dennis Allen has to do in order to keep his job and he thinks it's as simple as winning the rest of the games on the schedule. Mike talks about how talent isn't the issue for the Saints and the easy schedule should have produced a better record to this point. Bo asks Mike about his sleeper team in the NFC and Mike thinks the Green Bay Packers have the defense and offensive talent to make a late push. Mike thinks Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans will be in the Hall of Fame because of the ten straight 1,000+ yard seasons he has had in his career. Bo asks Mike if he would rather take Deebo Samuel or AJ Brown as an NFL GM and Mike thinks it depends on how the team uses them but Deebo has gotten more out of his talent. Mike looks at the decision by the College Football Playoff committee to leave out Florida State and he says it was the right decision after watching the ACC championship game Saturday night. ESPN's Mike Greenberg made some comments about Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin that annoyed Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson. Listen to hear what he said.
Bo and the crew talk about how the media criticizes Dak Prescott, the best bets to make for this season and the fifth anniversary of the sportsbook at the Pearl River Resort in the third hour of the show live in the BankPlus Studio. The guys talk about how Mississippi State will look and react to running the ball more and how Will Rogers will look in the new system. Bo and the crew listen to audio from ESPN's Mike Greenberg talking about how Dak is criticized unfairly by the media and the coverage the Dallas Cowboys get. Dave Bartoo of the College Football Matrix joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line talking about the best bets going into the weekend, the most enticing team total bet of the season and what the clock changes in college football does to betting live in the BankPlus Studio. Dave talks about how Jason wanted to bet on Miami Ohio and says that Miami Defensive Coordinator Lance Guidry is not one to bet against. Dave talks about his favorite bet on win totals for the season and believes that Appalachian State will win more than 6.5 games this year. Dave talks about how he can't remember the last time Appalachian State went 6 and 6 and thinks that the loss of Kevin Barbay to Mississippi State won't affect the Mountaineers too bad. Bo asks Dave about Florida against Utah and Dave mentions that his rule in early September is to take the better recruiter if they are an underdog. Dave also thinks that the game should be higher scoring than people think but doesn't think all of the other games will follow this trend. Dave talks about the clock changes that are implemented this college football season and says how the changes resulted in a decrease of plays by 8% in week 0. Dave also talks about how this is an average of 7 plays per game and how he will be betting the under on every game he can this weekend just to see how much the line is affected. Chris Hopwood, director of the Sportsbook at the Time Out Lounge at the Golden Moon Casino, joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line talking about the biggest bets on games, the most popular kinds of bets and how the clock changes in college football will affect scoring live in the BankPlus Studio. Chris talks about the fifth anniversary of the Sportsbook and how it looked when he arrived to Philadelphia, Mississippi in 2018. Bo and Chris talk about the traffic that is about to roll into the casino with the arrival of college football season and the guys talk about the biggest games that have been bet on so far. Chris looks ahead to the Florida vs Utah game and the money that will come in from the bets but believes the most money will come in on the LSU vs FSU game. Bo and Chris start talking about all of the great food at Pearl River Resort and the different types of food that Bo still needs to try. Chris thinks a ton of money will come in on the game between Alabama and Texas next week but hasn't opened the odds yet so people will have to wait to place their bets. Bo asks Chris what he think the results of the clock change in college football will do to game lines and Chris talks about how it will take a little while for Vegas and others to adjust their lines to games that are played in the first few weeks. Over the last decade, ESPN's Mike Greenberg has established himself as one of the most central gravitational forces in sports media. Greeny joins Senior Writers Mike McCarthy and Owen Poindexter to talk about the ins and outs of his morning show 'Get Up,' layoffs at ESPN, and the NBA Playoffs.
Tons of NBA Playoff action to talk about on this week's show – including why Robert Horry thinks the Lakers won the trade deadline… because all the pieces seem to be working perfectly after the trade deadline moves. Plus we all look ahead to possible Western Conference Finals matchups, and we relish in a terrible Lakers take from ESPN's Mike Greenberg. And why is everyone so fired up about the idea of Russell Westbrook and Pat Bev getting a ring if the Lakers win the title? We also joke about another terrible Mike Greenberg Heat-Knicks take – that somehow playing in Miami is too tough because of the heat? Like Denver's thin air isn't an excuse for the Nuggets? Plus how Rob feels about Jokic pushing Suns owner Matt Ishbia, a super cool Big Shot of the Week for James Harden, Bronny's commitment to USC, the A's announcer using the N-word, and a HILARIOUS round of Black Crime or White Crime!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Another absurd take out of Bristol as ESPN's Mike Greenberg seems to believe the hot weather in South Florida has taken its toll on the Knicks. Plus, Coach "Flip" shares his Payton Manning story, the experience coaching in the USFL, and being diagnosed with a rare condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis earlier this year. Later on, ESPN's Mike Greenberg joins the program to chat about the job ahead for Masai Ujiri and the Raptors' front office, what the future holds for Nick Nurse, who has the edge in tonight's Thunder-Pelicans Play-In matchup, if the Kings can continue to defy the odds, and who the top dogs in the Eastern Conference are (19:35). Our third podcast during encore week features one of the most celebrated and highest paid sports journalist in the broadcast industry. And to think, the first person ESPN's Mike Greenberg work with professionally was yours truly. “Greeny” as he's best known, has carved out a spectacular career from his partnership with Mike Golic on the radio program "Mike and Mike" to his current TV gig entitled “Get Up” to his additional responsibilities as the primary NBA host. But during his growth period at Chicago all sports radio station WSCR The Score did Greeny get a plum assignment he called one of the best experiences he ever had, covering Michael Jordan in Spring training as a member of the Chicago White Sox. “On the first day there must have been 200 reporters. Ted Koppel hosted Nightline from the ballpark. Within two or three days there was the Chicago SunTimes, Tribune, Daily Herald and me. And that was it.” Greeny wasn't done yet. “You might recall Jordan went 0 for his first 18. He was quite upset. So it was a rainy night in some small park and there couldn't be more than 300 people in the stands. Jordan swings out of his shoes and it winds up being a dribbler up the third baseline and he beats it out for a hit. So the game ends and in this tiny clubhouse they're dumping beer on him. And as we're walking out something moved me to turn around and look at him. He's sitting on a bench with a cigar, drenched in beer and had a smile, a look of satisfaction on his face that rivaled anything I'd ever seen from him."And there's plenty more including the many books Greeny has written.
