In today's episode ill like to introduce you to Mariano “Manny” Ranero. In 1994 at the age of 18, I came to the states with $150 in my pocket, very basic English, and a pregnant 20-year-old wife! Manny's first job was standing on the street waiting to be picked as Day Labor on Slater St.Then manny got a job as a Dishwasher in Fashion Island in Newport Beach, about a 2-hour bike ride Manny worked at fast-food restaurants from 1995 until 1998 then became Assistant Manager of a Taco Bell in Houston Tx. After a gun was pointed to his head during an 11 pm robbery at work, manny decided to quit and started working at Macaroni Grill, where he waited tables from 1998 until 2002. Then a new Spanish Pop Rock station opens in Houston and got a gig there as a Produced Assistant where I filmed and produced commercials for the Local TV Station. After 2 years at Liberman, I learned a lot regarding tv production, I decided to go on my own, registered RANERO PRODUCTIONS and started working as a contractor for a good friend who owned an Advertising Marketing Firm doing all his production work. In 2006 Kroger wanted to start a campaign on the Hispanic Market and we created a Spanish TV Cooking show that aired in Telemundo. We had a great 3-year run, unfortunately, it was canceled in 2009 due to the increase of gas prices and how that affected transportation costs. 5 years later I started again the cooking show but this time calling it COCINANDO CON MANNY which still airs on TELEMUNDO HOUSTON every Saturday at 10 am uninterrupted for the past 4 years. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sammyz/message

On this episode of A Circle in a Square, Alex chats with Marni Regan, the owner, operator, and head designer of A Garden Bouquet in Orange. A Garden Bouquet is a full-service florist that just opened a flower stand on Glassell and Maple right outside of The Filling Station. Marni's joy for flowers came from her college job at Fashion Island, and she continued to dabble in her passion as a hobby by creating floral arrangements for family and friends. After pursuing a career in interior design for 20 years, Marni decided to go back to her first love and open a flower shop in Newport Beach. After her business became a wild success in Newport, Marni decided she needed a change of scenery. She sold the flower stand and moved her family to Hawaii!  After almost a year of soaking up the Hawaiin sun rays, Marni felt homesick and decided to move back to her hometown of Orange. When she visited the Plaza, she loved the feel and sense of community in Old Town Orange but noticed there was a need for a flower stand. She noticed there wasn't anything like it in the area and felt like it would be the perfect addition to this cute area. She went to work and partnered with The Filling Station to become the first official street vendor in Orange! She hopes her business paves the way for other companies to become street vendors in our quaint little community. We've got merch! SPECIAL GUEST IS ROCK STAR PHOTOGRAPHER MICHAEL STRIDER: Odds are, you’ve seen some of Michael Strider’s photos. Rather than channeling his passion for rock music into a guitar, Strider chose the camera, and for the past twenty years he has been shooting the likes of KISS, Bruce Springsteen, and Rihanna. Strider has found a way to capture the lifeblood of a rock star in the climax of his/her performance. Now he incorporates the same style in his ever-expanding portfolio of actors, musicians, and dignitaries, and as an employee of Getty Images. “Rock ‘n Roll is an essence that can be incorporated into any shoot, whether it is a rock star, supermodel or an actor,” Strider says. His singular aesthetic, and discerning method of photography has guaranteed him a lasting authority in the industry. - See more at: striderimage.com SPECIAL COHOST WILL BE SINGER/SONGWRITER/PRODUCER MARK CASTRILLON  You can pretty much catch me playing somewhere around Southern California on any given night of the week.
