The Security settings on Windows 11 cancelled our access to our “drivers” which support our show. We scrambled; we researched the problem day and night, tried one of everything and troubleshot the issue until we were asleep on our feet.Long story short, we're back!  Bill Gates can't keep a good show down!Tonight, we focus our investigative reporting skills with the intensity of a surgical laser on better understanding officer- induced jeopardy, which also can be referred to as officer- created jeopardy."Officer-induced jeopardy" refers to situations where a police officer's own unreasonable tactics, actions, or decisions prior to a force encounter unnecessarily create or escalate the danger, increasing the likelihood that force will be needed.The phrases of “officer-induced jeopardy” or “officer-created jeopardy” describe actions taken by police officers that increase the risk of injury to the officer and escalate the probability of use of lethal force by officers, which may have been avoided had the officer not placed himself or herself in a self-created dangerous situation.Be clear in the fact that this action stems from willful actions taken by the officer that put the officer and the person of interest or suspect in danger … such as:—                 rushing in without backup,—                 poor de-escalation skills and tactics,—                 or standing in front of a fleeing vehicle, which may have been avoided.Officers rarely are but can be criminally prosecuted for using force when their actions led to escalation during contact with subjects. However, the facts bear out that fewer than 3% of killings by police result in officers being charged with a crime.Recently, a fan of the show contacted us and informed us of an incident where their family — in their home -- became inadvertent ear and eyewitnesses being directly next door to where the Akron Police Department had terminated a vehicle pursuit — barricading and cornering a driver in his vehicle and ordering him to exit his vehicle while at gun point:  More than 10 officers with their weapons drawn and pointed at the person who had previously committed what would amount to minor misdemeanors.The family that contacted us were concerned because they were in the direct line of crossfire if the officers decided to fire.This unnecessary contact with a 66-year-old black man (the suspect) could have easily turned into a “contagious fire” incident, with many of those shots coming from high-powered, military style assault rifles.In this explosive episode, in order to further our understanding about officer- induced jeopardy —   as a case study we'll examine Barnes v. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Maryka Biaggio, author of the book Gun Girl and the Tall Guy. Maryka Biaggio is a psychology professor turned novelist who specializes in historical fiction based on real people. She loves unearthing the stories of people overlooked by history and bringing them back to life—portraying their challenges and foibles and rekindling their emotional world. Previous novels include The Model Spy, The Point of Vanishing, Eden Waits, and Parlor Games. Her fiction has won several accolades, including Willamette Writers Award, Oregon Writers Colony Award, Historical Novel Society Review Editors' Choice, La Belle Lettre Award, an Upper Peninsula of Michigan Notable Books Award, and a Regional Arts & Council grant. She served on the Board of the Historical Novel Society North America Conference from 2015-2025. She has mentored other writers in AWP's Writer-to-Writer Mentorship Program since 2020. She's an avid opera fan and enjoys gardening, art films, and, of course, great fiction. She lives in Portland, Oregon.   In my book review, I stated Gun Girl and the Tall Guy is a historical fiction by Maryka Biaggio. It is based on a true story of a crime duo, Celia and Ed Cooney, in 1920s Brooklyn. And quite frankly, I loved everything about this book! The characters are vivid. I could see the Brooklyn from 100 years ago. And the story is amazing.   Celia grew up in a tough environment. She escapes her family and marries Ed, a young man just home from the war. He is kind, gentle, and loves her completely. But, like most young couples, they are broke. When she learns she is pregnant, she doesn't want to raise her child with nothing. So, they hatch a plan to rob a store - just to get enough to start them on their way. But the thrill and the fame, as well as an ever-increasing need for more things, keeps them in the game long after it makes sense.   Although it makes no sense, I was routing for Celia and Ed to evade the police! Maryka did a great job getting me to pull for the bad guy rather than the Brooklyn police, which is what started happening as the pair became more infamous. The Joan Barry Scandal and the Mann Act Scott Eyman Charlie Chaplin versus America: When Art, Sex, and Politics Collided After giving a political speech, Chaplin became involved with the unstable Joan Barry in 1942. She held him at gunpoint and later initiated a paternity suit. The FBI targeted Chaplin, prosecuting him unsuccessfully under the Mann Act. Although a blood test proved he was not the father, the jury found against him, forcing him to pay child support for eighteen years. Barry later blamed the FBI for instigating the case. 1921

Billy Squires after video emerged of him pointing his service weapon at four teenagers in his neighborhood on a Sunday evening while allegedly intoxicated and wearing part of his uniform over his regular clothes.  A shocking video depicts the kids begging for their lives and one of them calling out his mom had people across the spectrum and all over the world calling for justice. It took five days for the sheriff's office to terminate Squires even though many of his 11 policy violations were immediately apparent.  Mandy, Liz and Eric talk about what it took to pressure the good ole boys into holding one of their own accountable.  *Since recording this episode, Live 5 News Reported SLED Chief Mark Keel said, “At this time, there is no evidence to indicate the fire was intentionally set. The median will allow only left turns off Fairground Street, with 200 feet of median and 115 feet of curb being installed. Signage will alert drivers to the changes, ensuring smoother and safer traffic flow. STORY 2: Attempted Carjacking Suspect Held at Gunpoint by Civilian, Arrested in Marietta A carjacking suspect, Rico Riley, was arrested in Marietta after a witness, Gary Edwards, intervened and held him at gunpoint. Riley allegedly attempted to steal two cars at a Chevron gas station on Franklin Gateway. He first fought a woman for her car keys, then tried to carjack a second vehicle with a family inside. Edwards intervened both times, ultimately detaining Riley until police arrived. Riley faces multiple felony charges, including attempted armed robbery and child cruelty, and is held without bond. Marietta Police commend Edwards but urge witnesses to prioritize safety and call 911 in such situations. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus U.S. missionary abducted at gunpoint while preaching in South Africa Josh Sullivan, a U.S. Baptist missionary, was kidnapped at gunpoint as he preached Thursday evening at Fellowship Baptist Church in Motherwell, South Africa, reports International Christian Concern. According to police, four masked gunmen entered the church late last night during a prayer meeting with about 30 attendees. The assailants stole two cell phones before abducting the 45-year-old pastor and taking him in his own vehicle, a silver Toyota 4Runner. The car was later found abandoned about a mile from the church.   A husband and father of six, Sullivan has been a missionary in South Africa since 2018. Sullivan and his family are members of Fellowship Baptist Church, an independent Baptist church in Maryville, Tennessee, where Sullivan has been on staff. His wife and children are among those who witnessed the kidnapping. Here at The Worldview, we're reminded of the inspiring words of Christ following Peter's bold affirmation. China raises duties on US goods to 125% Last Friday, China hiked its tariffs on imports of U.S. goods to 125%, hitting back at Donald Trump's decision to single out the world's No.2 economy for higher duties, while dismissing the U.S. president's tariff strategy as "a joke," reports Reuters. Investors had been waiting to see how Beijing would respond to Trump's move on Wednesday to effectively raise tariffs on Chinese goods to 145% while announcing a 90-day pause on tariffs on dozens of other countries' goods. Immigration Judge Jamee Comans gave the green light to the Trump administration's desire to deport Khalil.  Without such deportation, the government contended that his presence posed “potentially serious foreign policy consequences.” Colorado Governor signs anti-gun law Democratic Colorado Governor Jared Polis, a self-professed homosexual who has entered into a faux marriage with his “husband,” has dealt a heavy blow to Coloradans' Second Amendment freedom by signing Senate Bill 3 into law, reports the Colorado State Shooting Association. This oppressive permit-to-purchase scheme is a direct attack on their Second Amendment rights, afflicting Coloradans with bureaucratic hurdles to block their God-given liberties, President George Washington declared, “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference—they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.” RFK, Jr vows to know causes of autism epidemic by September As he sat in Trump's Cabinet meeting, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke to the autism epidemic and what he proposed to do about it. KENNEDY: “The autism rates have gone from one in 31 from one in 10,000 when I was a kid. At your direction, by September, we will know what has caused the autism epidemic.” Kennedy noted that HHS has “launched a massive testing and research effort that's going to involve hundreds of scientists from around the world.”  Once they have identified the causes, hopefully by September, HHS will advocate for the elimination of those exposures. Libraries partner with Planned Parenthood to offer free sex health resources And finally, if you thought the library was a place to borrow books for a research paper or read the local daily paper, think again! Twelve Sacramento, California Public Libraries now feature “sexual health resource cabinets” inside public libraries to give the public, including children, access to items like condoms, Sexually Transmitted Diseases tests, and pregnancy tests, reports CBS News. These cabinets are being stocked by none other than Planned Parenthood, America's Abortion Giant, which killed 392,715 pre-born babies in 2023 alone.  In fact, QR codes on the free literature not only enables library patrons to easily find their local Planned Parenthood affiliate, but also to get their immoral worldview through their God-forsaken website. Michael Reed, a parent, was disturbed by the easy access to the sexual health resource cabinets, especially for kids. REED: “It's a little shocking. It seems a little inappropriate just to target children that way.” But Todd Deck, the community engagement services manager for Sacramento Public Libraries, thought the libraries were doing something wonderfully noble. Instead of coming back with a book, they're going to come back with a condom. “This is really about cutting parents out. It's about sexualizing our kids at younger and younger ages.” In Matthew 18:6, Jesus said, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in Me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Not surprisingly, the cabinets have been re-stocked multiple times since being installed six weeks ago as they have been set up both in the library's main hub and in the adult section. Elizabeth Johnston, a Christian mother of 10, is not surprised by the hostility to a Judeo-Christian worldview at the library. The American Library Association's one-time president Emily Drabinski, who served from July 2022 to 2024, was a self-avowed “Marxist lesbian.” She wrote a paper on “queering the catalogue” and said wildly inflammatory things about parents who do not want their children to read sexually inappropriate literature. So, keep in mind, the library is no friend of the family. Enter with caution. And in rich-guy disconnect news, Google's Sergey Brin thinks engineers should work 60-hour weeks to build the AI that will replace them. That's some late-stage capitalism poetry right there.Elsewhere, Trump Media paid Don Jr. nearly a quarter of its revenue to show up twice, while indie musicians can't afford to tour, proving once again that grifting is more profitable than making art. Technicolor shut down overnight, stranding 10,000 workers because Hollywood's financial planning is apparently as stable as a Starship rocket launch. Oh yeah, SpaceX exploded another one.Meanwhile, Netflix's attempt to upscale A Different World turned it into a Lovecraftian horror show. A quarter of Y Combinator startups now run on “vibe coding,” meaning their software is basically a Ouija board with extra steps. The AI takeover continues as OpenAI plans to charge $20,000 monthly for specialized AI "agents," proving once again that the revolution will be monetized. Meanwhile, Moscow's Pravda network has been poisoning Western AI chatbots with Russian propaganda, because if you can't convince humans, just brainwash the robots that humans increasingly trust.On the bright side, hackers brought the Humane AI Pin back to life after it was bricked, transforming an overpriced paperweight into... a slightly less useless overpriced paperweight. ChatGPT can now directly edit code in macOS development tools, making it easier for AI to introduce bugs you never would have thought of yourself.
