Stassi and Tay are back doing their favorite thing - the Monday catch-up. Stassi recaps her full, exhausting-but-fun Disneyland day and the very intense toddler swim teacher who basically runs a boot camp for two-year-olds. While Taylor realizes her red-string obsession might actually need to become a business. From there they get into Taylor's first real parent hangover and the very serious debate of whether moms should get two Mother's Days. When your heroes show up, five nights on the Disney Magic with Marvel Day at Sea, concierge calm, and two ports packed with culture turn into one amazing trip! We dig into the real logistics, why staying in Galveston can beat Houston for embarkation, how concierge perks like hot breakfast room service and late luggage cutoff change your pace, and why a little prep unlocks the best Marvel encounters. From the first sea day, the ship transforms. Warriors of Wakanda training with General Okoye, Avengers-style shield and bow sessions for kids, and playful shipwide announcements turn hallways into a story. We secured Heroic Encounters thanks to a timely concierge nudge and landed memorable moments with Gamora, Groot, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Iron Man. The culinary star is the Marvel Day at Sea dinner menu that's deep, varied, and a clear upgrade over Pirate Night, proving Disney Cruise Line can refresh classics without losing its soul. The nighttime crescendo, Heroes Unite, stitches fireworks into the plot for a high-energy, family-friendly show with surprise appearances and just the right edge. Between events, we share honest notes on a spa that didn't sparkle this time, fun Soul Duo sets, and small wins like a chocolate martini with a sense of humor. Port days add balance: in Cozumel, we taste Mayan cacao, learn why cocoa was currency, and paint vibrant alebrijes. In Progreso, we navigate the four-mile pier, opt for a private tour, explore climbable ruins with renovated facilities, and cool off in surface-level cenotes—keeping heat and distance in mind.We wrap with crowd context from a midwinter break sailing, final sea day highlights like Palo Brunch and mixology, and candid thoughts on future itineraries. Would we chase another Marvel Day at Sea? Absolutely—though we'd pick a different home port for smoother travel. Tap play to get practical tips, character strategies, dining musts, and a feel for how Marvel magic can elevate a classic Western Caribbean cruise. The suitcase zippers are straining, work piled up all week, and a Disney Magic cruise is hours away. Perfect time to hit rewind to January 2022! We're taking you back to where our show began, re-airing our very first recording, and reintroducing the two nerds behind the microphones: Alicea and Nathan, high school sweethearts who moved from the East Coast to the Seattle area and accidentally became Disney adults. We unpack the numbers that shape our point of view: 14 Disney trips since 2009, 127 nights in Disney stays, and 11 cruises—two of them Panama Canal crossings, one finishing as the world was closing down. You'll hear the earliest sparks that made Disney stick, from a drumline turning onto Main Street with the castle dead ahead to the Wonderful World of Disney and Mousercise on vinyl. Then we rapid-fire through our favorites with practical detail: why Haunted Mansion still haunts us, why Rise of the Resistance feels more like cinema than a queue, and how PeopleMover earns its “underrated” crown. We talk DVC stays at Riviera and Aulani, the intimacy of the Disney Wonder, Garden Grill breakfasts that feel personal, and the eternal Dole Whip vs. churro standoff. This is also a map for what came next. We share how we keep up with Disney news without parroting headlines, how we'll handle topics like Genie+ only after firsthand use, and why our goal is to deliver weekly, focused episodes that help you plan smarter trips without losing the joy. Expect honest takes, usable tips, and plenty of park and cruise wisdom gathered from real itineraries. Have a question or a hot take? Then the plot twist: an aortic aneurysm that led to open-heart surgery, a deep-breath recovery, and a return to sea on the Disney Magic from San Juan to Galveston—with a sun-drenched stop at Lookout Cay. Add a total knee replacement to close the year and you've got a masterclass in pacing, patience, and planning.Looking ahead, we share the 2026 lineup: a concierge stay aboard the Disney Magic, Sterling's performance at Disney California Adventure during Food & Wine, and a seven-night Eastern Caribbean on the Disney Destiny that swaps routine ports for St. Martin, San Juan, and Lookout Cay. We'll catch July 4th fireworks from a Polynesian bungalow and maybe sneak in the US Open in New York, Halloween scares we missed last time, and a holidays finale split between the Big Island's volcano views and an Aulani New Year. Think of a cruise that gives more than sunsets and selfies. We set out from San Juan on Disney Magic after a 15-year gap, fresh off real-life health hurdles, and built a trip around slow joy: a food-forward Puerto Rico layover, a rum masterclass at the Bacardí Founders Experience, and a calm-first plan onboard with concierge comforts, spa therapy, and long, quiet reads on the veranda.San Juan set the tone. The Flavors of San Juan tour steered us to small, soulful hits—guava-butter croissants, passion fruit paletas, ceviche, alcapurrias, and DIY mofongo—before a standout dinner at La Central reset our steakhouse expectations. At Bacardí, we tasted the spectrum from raw, punchy spirit to oak-softened elegance in their rackhouse, then bottled and waxed our own distillery-only reserve. Pro tip: skip the ferry and rideshare straight to the pavilion for smoother timing.Onboard, we leaned into what felt good. Animator's Palette still crescendos to Sorcerer Mickey, while Rapunzel's Royal Table brings ruffian comedy and a lantern-lit second act. Palo remains the surest bet—go a la carte at dinner for gnocchi and soufflé bliss, and protect brunch appetite for savory stars. Soul Cat Lounge became our hangout, with Soul Duo's live sets turning evenings into an easy groove. Not everything sparkled: bar service across ship and islands felt green and slow at times. Kind people, longer waits—worth noting if timing matters to you.Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point impressed. The landscaping has flourished, shade is thoughtful, and Serenity Bay's sand feels like powdered sugar underfoot. The Other Disney Tapes

This week on the Video Store Podcast I am picking four Disney tapes you might have turned to when the big animated titles were already gone at the store. These were the ones that less visited shelf of the Disney section. You might not have planned on renting them, but once you did, they stayed with you. They would sometime sit untouched for weeks, but occasionally a family would rent one and their kids would fall in love with them. That meant they would return to the rent them again in the future. A Dream Called Walt Disney World from 1981 is the first tape on the pile. It is a friendly tour of the resort at a moment when the whole property still felt wide open. You get long looks at early Magic Kingdom walkways and enough hotel footage to remind you of how new everything once was. The narration has that calm voice that Disney liked to use in this era. It is the kind of tape you might put on after a long day just to let the music and visuals calm you down. I used to rewind certain parts just to capture moments again and again, although I guess a lot of us did that.Next is Walt Disney World EPCOT Center A Souvenir Program from 1983. This one always felt a little more polished. It has that nice steady tour feeling. The camera moves through Future World and World Showcase at a relaxed pace and gives you plenty of time to look at the early design work. You get glimpses of shops, shows, and attractions that changed only a few years later. People would keep this one longer than they were supposed to because its pacing calmed their kids down. Although I think the adults also liked it.The third pick is Where the Toys Come From from 1984. It is different from the others, but it showed up in the same section since it wasn't a “Disney Classic.” Theodore Thomas directed it and his father was one of Disney's Nine Old Men, which gives it a little history under the surface. It is a small story told. Not a lot of noise, not a lot of movement, just a pleasant mix of travel and simple moments with the toys. The last tape is Disneyland Fun from 1990. While we kept it in the children's section, that did not stop older viewers from giving it a try. It is part of the Sing Along Songs line and it moves through the park with a sense of energy that fits the late eighties/early nineties. A few numbers were filmed just for this release, which gives it a couple of moments that never showed up anywhere else (Haunted Mansion!). The crowds and costumes look exactly like what you saw if you visited around that time. We played it at Suncoast often and I bought my own copy after seeing it the firs time. These tapes were steady choices when everything else was checked out. They sat there waiting for someone to notice them and they did their job without much fuss. They made a quiet night at home feel a little brighter with Disney Magic. Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work. This is a public episode. A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to book a really good 5 day/4 night Disney Cruise Line deal that ultimately led to a remarkably great experience on The original Disney Magic. It's a trip where we left from Port Canaveral, visited Nassau and the new Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and then disembarked after a day at sea in San Juan Puerto Rico. Our experience gave us great insights to new experiences as well as provided us a chance to revisit the original Disney Cruise Line ship. While we are saving Lookout Cay for our next podcast, there is still a lot to share about this trip, and it will give you some insights not only about this itinerary, but booking late, and about what it's like to come back to the original Disney Magic. Oh, and we're dealing with a grown autistic son--so yeah it's kind of a crazy trip. That said, climb aboard as we head on a Disney Magic Voyage with San Juan Puerto Rico. ________________________________________________________ Disney Insights YouTube Page--Check it out and subscribe. We're diving headfirst into another round of our Main Street Magic Mailbag: Listener Q&A — one of our favorite series because we truly never know what questions are coming. They're funny, thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes just delightfully odd… which makes them perfect. We kick things off with a question about the biggest Disney purchase we regret. We break down the decisions we would absolutely not make again. Next up, we get hit with a brutal “Would you rather?” dilemma: Would you rather never try new Disney foods and drinks again, or never try new attractions? It's the kind of question that makes you choose between your taste buds and your thrill-seeking heart. We also chat about how we'd redesign an attraction queue to make it more interactive, and we come up with a few ideas that would turn waiting in line into part of the fun. From there, the holiday spirit sneaks in with a whimsical question about which job we'd choose if we worked in Santa's workshop. Would we be toymakers, bakers, reindeer wranglers, or something even more chaotic? We break down the roles that fit us and the roles that would absolutely backfire. We also explore what it would be like to spend Christmas in a Disney movie universe. With so many magical worlds to choose from — animated, live-action, wintery, colorful — we debate where we'd want to celebrate the season. Then, a big one: What must-do experiences should first-time visitors, especially kids around 8 and 11, absolutely not miss? We cover attractions, shows, character moments, and little magical touches that make a first visit unforgettable. We also squeeze in a mini conversation about iconic Disney shirts and how quickly they become conversation starters.Next, we look at the top items still lingering on our Disney bucket list — the experiences we haven't crossed off yet but can't wait to someday. Finally, we wrap things up with a delicious question: What type of new food booth would we add to EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival? We dream up flavors, themes, and creative menu ideas we'd love to see join the festival lineup. It's a fun, lively, listener-fueled episode filled with Disney talk, holiday vibes, park tips, food dreams, and plenty of laughs. Grab your headphones and enjoy another round of Main Street Magic Mailbag!

From decorating our homes and dressing up as our favorite Disney characters, to watching Disney movies while carving Jack Skellington into our pumpkins, we chat about all the different ways Disney influences our Halloween at home. Oh, and we also debate if it's Mischief Night or Goosie Night (lol you'll want to hear our brief chat on that toward the end of our episode haha). Thanks again for tuning in and as always... Happy 4th of July, everyone! Mike and Scott are here with a bit of a different show here on the 4th of July! We recorded this one early as we are headed out on the Disney Magic for the BOGP Cruise 7 on Sunday! We give some final expectations for arrival at the Port, first few hours on the ship, and plans for the cruise at the beginning of the show! Then, we get a great call from Listener Deanna who is sailing with us and with Disney Cruise Line for the very first time! We also play some "Rank'em" with WDW quick-service restaurants and moderate resorts! This and much more on today's show!
