Melisa Liberman is a business coach for independent consultants and author of "Grow Your Consulting Business: The 14-Step Roadmap to Make Your Independent Consulting Goals a Reality." In this episode, she shares her journey from corporate executive to accidental entrepreneur, offering deep insights into the mindset shifts required when transitioning from corporate to independent work. Her story is particularly compelling because it highlights a common experience among consultants: the unexpected challenge of rebuilding identity and confidence outside the corporate structure. Even professionals with impressive credentials and extensive experience face imposter syndrome and self-doubt when striking out on their own. Melisa's candid discussion about her own journey from being labeled "sales repellent" in her corporate role to successfully running her own business provides valuable insights for anyone considering or currently navigating the independent path. We also discuss the critical mindset shifts required for success - from embracing failure as a learning opportunity to developing a business owner's perspective. The conversation reveals how the transition from corporate to independent work isn't just about changing how you work, but fundamentally transforming how you think about yourself and your value in the marketplace. Whether you're considering the leap to independent consulting or already running your own practice, Melisa's practical wisdom and honest insights about the realities of building a consulting business offer valuable guidance for creating a sustainable independent career. Support us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/2njb *** It all started when a social media influencer, Senia Waldberg, shared a post that sent shockwaves through Israeli social media. Known for his capitalistic and libertarian perspective on politics, Senia took an unexpected turn by critiquing Netanyahu's right-wing government and its controversial judicial reform proposal. What made this critique even more intriguing was that it originated from the right side of the spectrum, rather than the expected left. Today, we're diving deep into Senia's thought-provoking post and the unique perspective it brings. Senia Waldberg's journey in the public eye has been a fascinating one. Many young Israelis remember him as one of the pioneers who brought the controversial 'seduction artists' courses to Israel, providing advice to men on matters of the heart and attraction. But life has taken Senia down diverse paths since then. He's evolved into a husband, a father, and an entrepreneur. Alongside his wife Masha, he's created a groundbreaking invention named 'Annabella' – a versatile milk suction device designed for mothers, aiming to be the ultimate solution in its domain. Senia is also the author of the best selling books in Hebrew “Why Do Women Like Men?” and “That's How You Will Make Him Think Only About You”. As a campaigner, Senia worked with prominent politicians including Liberman, Bennet, Kahlon and Moshe Feiglin. Today, we're privileged to have Senia join us on the podcast. We'll explore not only his intriguing career journey and the evolution of his perspectives but also his take on current affairs that has caused ripples across Israel's Facebook sphere. Let's dive in!

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. Military correspondent Emanuel Fabian, political correspondent Tal Schneider and Knesset reporter Carrie Keller-Lynn join host Jessica Steinberg for today's podcast. Fabian discusses tension as Israel awaits response from Hamas terror group following the air force targeted killing of three senior members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group that also killed 10 civilians including four children. He looks at restrictions placed on Israelis living close to the Gaza border, where schools are closed and residents are being told to stay close to shelters. Schneider speaks about the current relationship between Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu given the Gaza operation, just weeks after the prime minister had fired the defense minister over his opposition to the judicial reform. Keller-Lynn speaks about opposition leaders Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid and their unsurprising support of the Gaza operation along with fellow opposition leader Avigdor Lieberman who offered his stance on the stalled talks regarding the government's judicial reform. Steinberg mentions the advance of Israeli pop singer Noa Kirel to the grand final of the 2023 Eurovision in Liverpool late Tuesday night following her performance during the contest's first semifinal. Discussed articles include: All eyes on Hamas as IDF awaits reprisal for assassination of Islamic Jihad leaders Thousands of Gaza border residents evacuated by IDF as precaution Gaza op gets broad political support as some trade barbs over Ben Gvir ‘Legitimizing the illegitimate': Liberman urges Gantz, Lapid to end overhaul talks Israel's Noa Kirel rides ‘Unicorn' to Eurovision grand final Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on iTunes, Spotify, PlayerFM, Google Play, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. ToI founding editor David Horovitz and diplomatic correspondent Lazar Berman join host Jessica Steinberg for today's podcast. Horovitz discusses the various statements being made regarding the judicial overhaul, and the effect of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's comments last week about Huwara on reserve duty pilots who have now expressed concern about possibly having to carry out illegal orders in the future with a muted high court. Berman expands on how companies of reservists -- including his own -- try to keep politics out of their continued army service, and that there is broad consensus that the judicial reform is of concern in army circles as well. Horovitz and Berman also discuss the growing world criticism from allies, including European diplomats who have watched the nationalism in Hungary and Poland, statements made by former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and whether Smotrich's comments about Huwara will affect his upcoming US trip. Discussed articles include: Pilots' alarm shows Israel now in danger of entering a death spiral Gantz urges IDF reservists to show up ‘no matter what,' opposes any refusal to serve Lapid, Liberman oppose reservists refusing to serve, but say their fears justified Netanyahu welcomes Smotrich's retraction of ‘inappropriate' call to wipe out Huwara Michael Bloomberg warns Israel ‘courting disaster' with judicial overhaul Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on iTunes, Spotify, PlayerFM, Google Play, or wherever you get your podcasts. Modern English loves an idiom. We use them all the time. “Take the cake.” “Eat crow.” “Deader than a doornail.” “By hook or by crook.” “Cut the mustard.” “Left in the lurch.” But do we really know what they mean? That was University of Minnesota linguistics professor Anatoly Liberman's question when he set out to write a dictionary of common English language idioms. His new book, “Take My Word For It,” is the first truly all-encompassing etymological guide to both meanings and origins of idioms that surround us every day. Liberman is a favorite guest on Kerri Miller's show, and this week, he returns to talk about the history of idioms, both popular and obscure. It's not rocket science, but it is a delightful and engaging conversation that will leave you feeling as right as rain. Guest: Anatoly Liberman is a linguist and professor of languages at the University of Minnesota. His new book is, “Take My Word For It: A Dictionary of English Idioms.” To listen to the full conversation you can use the audio player above. Is there a word or phrase that you grew up with, something you felt was unique to your family? Maybe it was an expression your parents or grandparents used to show affection or describe frustration, only to eventually discover it had foreign origins? Or perhaps you still wonder where it came from? Borrowed words have flooded most languages, including English. In August 2021, Anatoly Liberman, beloved etymologist and professor of languages at the University of Minnesota, joined MPR News host Kerri Miller to explore the roots of familial words. In that interview, he mentioned he had just finished a dictionary of idioms. That book finally published in January 2023. This Friday on Big Books and Bold Ideas, Liberman is back with Miller to discuss it. In the meantime, enjoy this joyous conversation about familiar words from our archives. A snake that is unable to shed its skin does not deserve to live. We know those traumatic memories are imprinted in our sensory and emotional nodes leading to trauma getting stuck in our neural network that alters aspects of our lives that we may not even be consciously aware of. With the advances in clinical trials on psychedelic substances and psychotherapy, research has shown that psychedelics with the guidance of a therapist can be used as tools to reach our secondary consciousness and release deep traumas held deep within our minds. To share her personal experiences with the inclusion of psychedelics Dr. Graham Taylor speaks with Natalie Liberman, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Natalie has been a faculty at Gerry Grossman Seminars (since 2012), and an Adjunct Faculty at Pepperdine University, Graduate School of Education and Psychology (since 2015). In her private practice, Natalie works with an array of clients dealing with substance abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career and life transitions, sexual problems, social anxiety disorders, communication issues, self-esteem, and general quality of life issues. Today's show is going to be more of a human-interest-focused show as we discuss with Natalie, her life, her personal growth, and her work in therapy. In the words of Natalie, “I haven't had a journey that was not impactful and I've never experienced things that felt out of control. Every journey that I had been on, had provided me such an impactful insight for myself to be able to see who I am.” Connect with Natalie Liberman on Instagram @insight_with_natalie or visit: https://www.instagram.com/insight_with_natalie/ Or email Natalie at natalie@insightwithnatalie.com For more information about How to Change your Mind by Michael Pollan, please visit: https://michaelpollan.com/books/how-to-change-your-mind/ For more information about This is Your Mind on Plants by Michael Pollan, please visit: https://michaelpollan.com/books/this-is-your-mind-on-plants/ For more information about Fantastic Fungi on Netflix, please visit: https://www.netflix.com/title/81183477 For more information about Another Self on Netflix, please visit: https://www.netflix.com/title/81380432 For more information about It Didn't Start with You by Mark Wolynn, please visit: https://markwolynn.com/it-didnt-start-with-you/ For more information about the Psychedelic Somatic Institute, please visit: https://www.psychedelicsomatic.org
