My point is, the proper lenses get me to where I need to go. Hear me, when life throws us a curve the difference between peace and anxiety is “what I believe.” What I believe from God's word is the proper lens to view through when worry encroaches upon my life. Friends when it comes to stress, what I believe matters. During this message, in our “Got stress” series, I will teach on this very truth. The aesthetic community is abuzz with excitement about an innovative technology that tightens skin and improves skin laxity, all without the need for surgery! Does it seem too good to be true? Micro-coring, as the name suggests, uses a small hollow needle to remove tiny full-thickness cores of tissue. Then, as the skin heals, it tightens up, kind of like shrink-wrapping the skin.  Join this week's podcast episode featuring Dr. Kennedy as we delve into the world of microcoring. Dr. Kennedy addresses common questions, such as the key differences from microneedling, ideal candidates for micro-coring, patient expectations, a detailed walkthrough of the procedure and its associated downtime.  What is micro-coring and how is it used? (5:03) How is this different from micro-needling? (9:40) How long does the procedure typically take? THE BAD ME THOUGHT DEMON: HOW TO VANQUISH THE RELENTLESS ATTACK OF SELF

Do you feel shame, regret, or guilt for things you did or should have done? If so, you may be under the influence of the Bad Me Thought—the negative and critical inner voice that insists you screwed up, you're a bad person, and you don't deserve any better in life. On Love University podcast, we learned ways to eradicate the Bad Me Thought Demon—exaggerated shame and guilt—so you can live confidently and with peace and joy. Here's what you can do to eliminate the Bad Me Thought Demon: *Take moral inventory of your past actions and learn from them. If you made a mistake, acknowledge and learn from it. Maybe you hurt a loved one or messed up at work in a bad way. Resolve to apply the lessons learned to help you become a stronger and better person. You don't have to beat yourself over the head constantly for your errors, blunders, and bad habits. You can grow from your experiences and move forward with your life. *Affirm the Gift of Life. Instead of hiding from others and life because of the mistakes you've made, boldly enter the present and travel into the future. Embrace the gift of life and natural abilities you have been given by the Higher Nature (God, spirit, nature). Spend time with loved ones, do the hobbies and activities you love, and engage in a spiritual/meditative practice. Most importantly, shine your positive loving energy to everyone who crosses your path with a feeling of gratefulness and compassion. *Catch others doing the right thing. There is an interesting psychological paradox. What we do to others, we often do to ourselves. When we condemn others, we are likely to condemn ourselves. When we forgive and are tolerant to others, we do the same for ourselves. To master the Bad Me Thought Demon, therefore, begin to reward people (verbally, affectionately) for saying and doing positive and uplifting things. Instead of being quick to judge, criticize, and condemn, develop empathy and put yourself in their shoes. Forgive them for their errors. With empathy, perhaps you realize that the person who made a cruel remark was having a bad day (family problems), and they are actually a decent and caring person. Strive to see the good in people, and you will start seeing the good in yourself. Although some guilt can be useful to help you overcome weaknesses and remedy wrongs, the Bad Me Thought Demon exaggerates guilt and shame to humiliate and destroy you. The good news is that you don't have to yield to its influence. While recognizing and learning from your mistakes, you can move forward to affirm the gift of life and help others along the way. After all, there is nothing for you to be ashamed about: You are human, you are free, and you are loved. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: You can bring more positivity and fun into your life by joining us at our Valentine's Love Masquerade on February 10th, in Port's Restaurant, Corona Del Mar. On this special evening, you will have a chance to meet compatible singles and perhaps find your soul mate. Click here for tickets:  shorturl.at/dkrsu.

Paulina and Jez had a terrifying good time chatting with Pierce and Raquel Horvath of Dead Scared Entertainment, a Romani-run horror media company. Detroit born and living in Chicago, Pierce and Raquel Horvath are Hungarian Slovak Bashalde Romungre raised within Roma tradition with a modern twist.Growing up, Pierce was a passionate bat biologist-to-be, but as he fostered his love for Roma music, mid-century modern art, and classic horror films while studying animation at DePaul University he found he'd be fusing these elements into the nostalgic, spooky, Roma production company that is never short of his favorite nocturnal animal. When it came to Raquel, where there was music, she was dancing. Throughout her formative years, she would go on to learn many styles of dance while performing and competing. During her time at DePaul University as well, she decided to learn business and entrepreneurship, making her ready to tackle everything necessary to concoct the perfect monster that became Dead Scared Entertainment. You can follow Dead Scared Entertainment at https://www.deadscaredentertainment.com/ and listen to their podcast O Verda Darano (The Wagon of Fear) wherever you find podcasts. Wes is a tattoo artist living in New Orleans, Louisiana, working at Hell or High Water Tattoo. Growing up in Kansas he relied heavily on the library and a mentor to learn about painting, often bringing home stacks of books he'd study instead of his schoolwork. He decided to devote his life to “low-brow” art after realizing how accessible, practical and human it felt. Once getting written up for drawing on schoolmates in sharpie, he now gets to meet people from all over the world and help them tell their stories. Like many American Roma he learned about his heritage in parcels of tales passed down from family members, grasping at what shreds of culture were left after a couple generations of assimilation. Tattooing can be a method of memory storage and often be a gender or body-affirming practice. We're sharing an interview we did many months back at the Roma People's Project of Columbia University's month-long conference with Rowena Marin, Romani entrepreneur & author. Please keep an eye out for Rowena's memoir, which will be published next year, called Who am I in the world? And check out her Instagram page @rowenam.author. The Roma Peoples Project at Columbia University is an initiative that creates and spotlights academic material and events about the Roma peoples, aiming to examine, curate and produce scholarship by and about the Roma. RPP aims to bring Roma studies to the forefront of academia and global narratives, creating spaces for Roma people to connect and share their stories. They do this through articles in mainstream media and academic literature, public events and campaigns to raise public awareness of the situation of Roma people worldwide. Their flagship annual event is their educational festival, which is what the following interview is from, and they also host programs throughout the year. If you can contribute to their work, please do, or share. https://www.givenow.columbia.edu/?_sa=24469&_sd=384#/giveonlineCW: Without going into detail, in the course of the interview, we refer to child abuse, childhood sexual abuse, incest, and domestic violence. We were delighted to speak to Chris Carr for our latest International Relations episode, when we feature a non-Romani guest doing great things we think the Romani community should know about. Chris Carr is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary conceptual artist, photographer, emcee, educator and instrumentalist. In 2010, he founded Brooklyn Wildlife, a creative arts incubator specializing in independent art and music. He hosts podcasts and interview series, and has organized hundreds of live events and performances. He's spent twenty years playing music and has toured more than half the country. Along with Melissa Hunter Gurney, he co-founded the art space Gamba, the GAMBAZine publication, and Black Land Ownership. He leads Diversity and Inclusion workshops and developed Curating the Classroom to help schools deactivate systemic oppression. He is intrigued by the history of cultural expression, power relationships, semiotics, post-modern sociological theory, and interpersonal dynamics. His work takes on themes of normalcy vs. deviancy, alternative culture, social inequality, and the metaphysically interstellar. You can learn more about him and Black Land Ownership at https://www.chrisbankscarr.com/This episode features samples from Chris Carr's music, including "Rose on the Veil" by Low Wave featuring Concetta Abbate, and "Gravitational" by Stonehenge ParnhashnakovskyThank you for listening to Romanistan podcast. You can find us on Instagram @romanistanpodcast, and on Facebook under the same name, and on Twitter @romanistanpodWe started a Ko-fi fundraiser to help us expand. For this episode we had the pleasure of speaking to Imogen Bright Moon, an artist-maker who uses spinning and weaving processes to transform raw materials into exquisitely crafted textile objects. Her contemporary weave practice combines traditional skills, and a storytelling sensibility, gathered from her background in costume design, fashion pattern cutting and puppetry, tailored to the needs of her young family.  Working exclusively with ethically sourced materials and suppliers, every step of the creation of her work – from field to final piece – is transparent and traceable. Imogen is also a writer and poet, and her work is recently included in Wagtail: The Roma Woman's Poetry Anthology, edited by Jo Clement, and published by Butcher's Dog Magazine with support from ERIAC, and available for purchase online. You can visit Imogen's website https://brightmoon.co/ and follow her on Instagram @imogen.bright.moon. Keep an eye out for her and the other wonderful Romani artists part of the Gypsy Maker 5 project at https://www.romaniarts.co.uk/.  Roma crush for the week is Gem Hall (they/them) and you can follow them on Instagram @tinyshrine.
