On Monday, June 2, 2025, during the ongoing federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs, his former assistant, testifying under the pseudonym "Mia," continued her cross-examination. Defense attorney Brian Steel presented the jury with messages and a 2013 video in which Mia expressed admiration for Combs, referring to him as "one of the biggest inspirations in my life." Steel questioned the credibility of Mia's allegations by highlighting these past expressions of affection. Mia responded by explaining that her actions were a result of psychological manipulation and abuse, stating she was "brainwashed" and constantly sought Combs' approval due to the emotionally abusive environment she was in. She emphasized that despite her past messages, her courtroom testimony about the alleged assaults was truthful .The prosecution objected to the defense's line of questioning, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey accusing Steel of conducting a "humiliating" cross-examination that bordered on harassment. Comey argued that such tactics could deter other victims from coming forward. Judge Arun Subramanian acknowledged the concerns but stated he had not observed any misconduct, allowing the cross-examination to proceed. Mia's testimony is central to the prosecution's case, which alleges that Combs operated a criminal enterprise involving abuse, coercion, and exploitation. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, and faces a potential life sentence if convicted .On the afternoon of Monday, June 2, 2025, during Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial, the prosecution's key witness, known by the pseudonym "Mia," concluded her testimony. Under cross-examination, defense attorney Brian Steel highlighted affectionate messages Mia had sent to Combs after her employment ended in 2017, including a 2019 text describing a dream where Combs rescued her from R. Kelly. Mia explained that she was "brainwashed" during that period, describing her relationship with Combs as one where "the highs were really high and the lows were really low," leading to confusion in trusting her instinctsFollowing Mia's testimony, the prosecution called Sylvia Oken, a custodian at The Beverly Hills Hotel, who testified about additional cleaning fees charged to Combs' hotel account, including a $500 charge for "oil damage." Oken noted that Combs often used aliases such as "Phillip Pines" during his stays . The trial, now in its fourth week, continues with Combs facing multiple charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. On Day 9 of Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal trial, former personal assistant George Kaplan delivered compelling testimony that shed light on the inner workings of Combs' operations. Kaplan recounted an incident aboard a private jet in 2015, where he witnessed Combs allegedly assaulting singer Cassie Ventura. According to Kaplan, he heard glass shattering and saw Combs standing over Ventura, who was on her back with her legs up, seemingly trying to create space. Ventura reportedly screamed, "Isn't anybody seeing this?" as the altercation unfolded. Kaplan also described another episode where he observed Ventura with bruises under her eye, after which Combs instructed him to purchase over-the-counter remedies to conceal the injuries .Beyond these incidents, Kaplan detailed his responsibilities, which extended beyond typical assistant duties. He testified about preparing hotel rooms for Combs' events, ensuring they were stocked with specific items and later cleaning them to protect Combs' public image. Kaplan also mentioned procuring drugs like MDMA for Combs and maintaining a "medicine bag" containing substances such as ketamine and Wellbutrin. Despite expressing admiration for Combs, Kaplan stated that he ultimately resigned in December 2015 due to discomfort with the physical behavior he witnessed .On Day 9 of Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial, rapper Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) delivered a compelling testimony detailing a series of unsettling events he attributed to Combs' jealousy over Cudi's brief relationship with Casandra "Cassie" Ventura in 2011. Cudi recounted receiving a distressed call from Ventura, warning him that Combs had discovered their relationship and had obtained Cudi's home address. Subsequently, Cudi found his Los Angeles home broken into, with Christmas gifts unwrapped and his dog locked in a bathroom. He reported the incident to the police. Weeks later, in early 2012, Cudi's Porsche was destroyed by a Molotov cocktail in his driveway—a retaliatory act he suspected was orchestrated by Combs. Although Combs later denied involvement during a meeting at a Los Angeles hotel, Cudi testified that he believed the incidents were meant to intimidate him.Cudi's testimony aligns with previous allegations made by Ventura in her 2023 lawsuit, where she claimed Combs threatened violence against both her and Cudi upon learning of their relationship. During his testimony, Cudi described Combs' demeanor during their confrontation as reminiscent of a "Marvel supervillain," noting his calmness and the unsettling nature of the encounter. These accounts contribute to the prosecution's narrative of Combs' alleged pattern of coercive and violent behavior to maintain control over individuals in his personal and professional life. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, and faces the possibility of life imprisonment if convicted.Mylah Morales testified about a 2010 incident at the Beverly Hills Hotel during the Grammy Awards weekend. Diddy Trial Day 14: Hotel Records, Baby Oil, and Aliases: Inside the Wild Evidence Against Diddy In this episode, we break down one of the most jaw-dropping days in the federal criminal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs. June 2, 2025, brought hard evidence into the courtroom: hotel records, alias logins, bizarre cleaning charges, and the looming presence of surveillance footage. Hotel records from the Beverly Hills Hotel revealed Combs frequently checked in under fake names like “Frank Black” and “Phillip Pines”—aliases that prosecutors say were used to conceal his identity during alleged drug- and sex-fueled encounters. Even more disturbing? Charges like $500 for “oil damage” to a private bungalow and $300 for “soiled drapes,” which the prosecution argues are linked to Combs's infamous “freak-off” parties involving excessive amounts of baby oil and controlled substances. But the biggest moment may still be coming. Before the jury arrived, the court debated the admissibility of a 2016 surveillance video that allegedly shows Combs violently assaulting Cassie Ventura in a hotel hallway. Prosecutors call it one of the most critical pieces of evidence in the entire trial, and it could soon be authenticated and shown in court. This case is no longer just about allegations—it's about corroboration. With receipts, surveillance footage, and witness testimony coming together, the prosecution's case is shifting from emotional to undeniable. And with cultural commentary flooding in—from President Trump being asked about a potential pardon, to Suge Knight speaking from prison—the Diddy trial is becoming bigger than one man. It's about an industry, a legacy, and who gets to stay untouchable. #KarenRead #SeanCombs #CassieVentura #TrueCrime #DiddyTrial #HotelEvidence #SurveillanceVideo #FreakOffs #AliasRevealed #CelebrityJustice Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? In 1950, as Hollywood was roiled by the investigations of the House Committee on Un-American Activities and the Hollywood 10 were fresh in memory, a war broke out between legendary director Cecil B. DeMille and relative director newcomer Joseph L. Mankiewicz, whom DeMille had practically appointed as president of the Screen Directors Guild. The object of that war was DeMille's demand that SDG adopt a compulsory loyalty oath. Mankiewicz refused and subsequently DeMille organized a recall campaign that led to one of the most celebrated union hall meetings in history at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This week, Steve is joined by former Showtime President of Programming Jerry Offsay, screenwriter/author Steve Molton and film historian Avie Hern as they talk about their film project, currently in development, which details this dramatic "Battle for Hollywood."

In the latest episode, I catch up with Edgar-Award-winning author of She Rides Shotgun and Love and Other Wounds, and Everybody Knows - Jordan Harper - about the systemic "ick" of the media landscape depicted in NIGHTCRAWLER. ABOUT JORDAN HARPER:Jordan is the Edgar-Award-winning author of She Rides Shotgun and Love and Other Wounds. Born and educated in Missouri, he now lives in Los Angeles, where he works as a writer and producer for television.TWITTER: @JORDAN_HARPERNEWSLETTER: WELCOME TO THE HAMMER PARTYABOUT EVERYBODY KNOWSTruth may be stranger than fiction but sometimes fiction predicts the truth. Jordan Harper's new book EVERYBODY KNOWS is a combination of both. A propulsive LA crime thriller that James Patterson dubbed “the best mystery novel I've read in years,” is the story of Mae Pruett a "black-bag publicist" - she doesn't get the good news out, she keeps the bad news in – who works for “The Beast,” her name for the loose collection of lawyers, publicists and private security firms who protect and serve the wealthy and depraved of Los Angeles.Chris Tamburro is Mae's ex, a former cop fired for corruption and a fist on the Beast's arm, working as muscle for a shady lawyer. They must both confront the bad things they aid and abet when Mae's boss is gunned down in front of the Beverly Hills Hotel, dying with a secret Mae is determined to learn. Unraveling the mystery of her boss's death takes them through an electric, pulpy vision of Los Angeles, a world of homeless camp bombers, drug-addled celebrities, cop gangs who mark their kills with tattoos, a livestreamed murder, and powerful men with a secret so dark they will kill to keep it.Much of the novel is based Jordan's experiences and those of his friends and co-workers in the film and TV industry, and the whisper network of Los Angeles, “Nobody Talks but Everybody Whispers.” To be authentic Jordan wrote the opening scene about Mae having to visit a client at The Chateau Marmot, at the Chateau Marmot. Every celebrity sighting in the book is based on a real sighting he had had in the actual place he had it. Jordan also interviewed a crisis manager who represented one of the biggest villains of the MeToo era and sat down with a Hollywood actress to talk about the pressures of her life. There are literally dozens of scandals and real-life crimes that are fictionalized in the novel, from the publicist gunned down on Sunset Blvd. to the firebombing of homeless camps and many, many more.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/one-heat-minute-productions/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this week's episode of The Venue Rx Podcast, our host Jonathan Aymin welcomes Vijay Goel, the owner of 440 Elm, a Historic Landmark venue located in Long Beach, California. Bringing a unique blend of expertise from the medical and consulting fields, Vijay shares his unexpected journey into the event space, a path that unfolded through his spouse's catering business. Vijay provides insights into the intricacies of transforming a historic church in Long Beach into a sought-after events venue. The discussion encompasses challenges such as zoning hurdles and the financial impacts of unavoidable delays. Throughout the episode, Vijay highlights the significance of crucial elements like legal support, early business licensing, and a nuanced understanding of market positioning in the competitive landscape of the event industry. Beyond the business aspects, Vijay passionately explores the emotional rewards derived from crafting memorable experiences, touches upon the potential for dynamic pricing strategies, and highlights the people-intensive nature inherent in the industry. About Our Guest: 440 Elm, situated centrally between Los Angeles and Orange Counties in downtown Long Beach, stands as a newly renovated historic venue. Constructed in 1913 by the esteemed local architect Elmer Grey, renowned for iconic structures such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, Pasadena Playhouse, Huntington Library, and Caltech, the venue showcases the grandeur of Renaissance Revival architecture. The opulent ballroom within 440 Elm, one of the largest non-hotel ballrooms in Southern California, boasts impressive features. With 30' coffered ceilings, vibrant multi-story stained glass, original Tiffany-style leaded glass doors, lavish chandeliers, and an adjacent black and white diamond floor in the foyer, the venue exudes an elegant yet neutral ambiance. Its matching outdoor Plaza further enhances the experience, allowing seamless indoor and outdoor weddings for gatherings as large as 450, eliminating the need for a flip. Operated by the esteemed caterer Bite Catering Couture, 440 Elm aligns with Chef Elizabeth Goel's commitment to providing clients with highly personalized and thematic menus, all presented with exquisite detail. Originally erected as the First Church of Christ Scientist in Long Beach, 440 Elm holds historical significance as a landmark church in the Renaissance Revival style. Conceived by Elmer Grey in 1913, this monumental building was designed to convey a scale and size relative to the surrounding neighborhood at that time. It once accommodated 1200 worshippers and 1000 Sunday school participants at its peak, solidifying its place in the local history and architectural heritage.
