Have you ever wandered through a museum and thought: Why is the Virgin Mary always dressed in blue? Did they really use eggs in egg tempera—and did it make those paintings smell weird? And why, for some reason, does baby Jesus sometimes look like a tiny grumpy old man?Professor Suzannah Lipscomb is joined by Verity Babbs, art historian and comedian, who is on a mission to shake the dust off art history. This week's Beyond Sunday features David Rambo, Michael Shearon, Josh Hensley, and Paxton Redd, diving into the launch of the new sermon series Wrecked. Yet. Renewed. The conversation centers around Adam and Eve, the instinct to hide our failures, and how God draws us out of hiding for healing and renewal. The hosts unpack Kevin's five key sermon points: opening the blinds that bind, shedding shame through confession, getting found in the history of hiding, dropping the blame game, and beginning again with God . The team also plays a lively “Two Truths and a Lie – Hide & Seek Edition,” mixing biblical and historical stories of hiding. From Rahab to Shakespeare, the laughter flows even as deeper truths emerge about confession, generational struggles, and the freedom found in honesty before God and others. The episode closes with a look ahead to this Sunday's message on families wrecked by fear, with Josh sharing his own journey through anxiety and God's faithfulness.
Introduction In this series we are reading the story of the prodigal son as The Wrong Story: God is generous as long as I meet his expectations. He expects me to be perfect, and I failed. Now I am a failure, I am depraved, and God cannot bear my presence in this condition. The only way I can be reconciled…

I. Man's Response to Sin II. God's Response to Sin
When Adam and Eve transgressed, they wanted to hide from God. They made aprons of fig leaves to cover themselve. We do the same. We must learn to REMOVE our fig leaves and REPLACE them with coats of skins.
This sermon explores Genesis chapter 3, focusing on Adam and Eve's response to God's judgment, God's provision, and their banishment from the Garden of Eden. The speaker highlights Adam's act of faith in naming Eve "life" after hearing God's promise of a coming deliverer. The sermon then emphasizes God's "costly grace" in providing animal skin coverings, contrasting them with humanity's inadequate attempts at self-covering through good works or religious duties, and foreshadowing the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. Finally, the text explains the merciful banishment from the Garden, preventing Adam and Eve from an eternal life of corruption and setting the stage for God's plan of redemption through Christ.Support the showThanks for listening! Can religious rituals cover our sin and bring us peace with God? In today's episode, Stephen Davey takes us back to Genesis and Romans to explore the human tendency to hide behind “fig leaves” of religious ceremony and good works. Adam and Eve's attempt to cover their shame after the first sin reveals a powerful truth: human efforts are never enough to address our guilt before God. Stephen shows how rituals like circumcision or church attendance—valuable in their proper context—cannot replace a heart transformed by faith in Christ. He contrasts human-made religion with God's redemptive solution: the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. This message challenges you to examine your trust. Are you relying on rituals to hide your shame, or have you embraced the righteousness that comes from God alone? Join us for a lesson that not only exposes the limits of religion but also offers the only true covering for sin: the grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Ektoras Binikos has had quite a life in the New York cocktail scene. From Sugar Monk up in Harlem (which was recently named a 50 Best Discovery) to Bitter Monk in Industry City, the boozy entrepreneur is now at the helm of Atheras Spirits. They're making a bunch of new creations, ranging from a straightforward distillate flavored with fig leaves (which may or may not be pre-used by The Speakeasy's hosts) to an amaro based on the preservatives used in mummification. Ektoras sits down with Damon & Greg to talk about running a microdistillery in Brooklyn, sourcing weird botanicals, and what the customer can expect from these very off-the-beaten-path liqueurs.Plus, it's daylight savings time!
