Moses could get Israel to the Promised Land, but he couldn't get them in. To cross the Jordan, Israel needed a new leader with a familiar name: Joshua. Discover why the transition from the Law to Grace is the only way to claim your divine inheritance. Summary: In this episode, we study the Book of Joshua. We move beyond the battles and the trumpets to find the deep spiritual transformation required to stop wandering and start inheriting. Filling the Shoes of a Giant: We analyze the transition from Moses to Joshua—and from Peter to Jesus—exploring how God stays with the successor just as He was with the predecessor. Crossing the Jordan: We look at the "dry ground" miracle at the Jordan River and how the priests had to step into the water before it parted. Strange Strategies: We discuss the "foolish" tactics used at Jericho. Why does God ask us to do small and simple things—like family prayer or scripture study—that seem unrelated to the "walls" we are trying to bring down? The Valley of Achor: We look at the cautionary tale of Achan and how "one man's sin" can affect an entire community, and how God turns our "valleys of trouble" into "doors of hope." Choose You This Day: We conclude with Joshua's final plea at Shechem. We learn that our obedience lasts only as long as our memory, and why we must choose—every single day—whom we will serve. Call-to-Action: Joshua told the people that the stones of the altar had "heard" their promises. What "witnesses" have you set up in your life to remind you of your covenants? Investigating interpersonal themes and the notion of community, Jen Elek is a studio artist and educator based in Seattle, Washington. She creates objects and installations of colorful glass and neon light employed as a form of non-verbal communication. Her most recent glass series titled Doliums is inspired by large Roman clay storage containers.  Elek received her BFA from Alfred University in Metal and Hot Glass sculpture in 1994, after training as a welder in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was a student of Michael Scheiner, Dante Marioni, and Ann Wahlstrom at Pilchuck Glass School, and studied with Maestro Lino Tagliapietra at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. In addition to creating her own work, Elek has assisted glass artists such as Dale Chihuly, Kiki Smith, Preston Singletary, and Tagliapietra, on whose team she worked as a key member for 15 years. A vibrant contemporary glass artist, she exhibits alongside artists of other mediums, breaking some of the barriers that have kept glass in the realm of craft and offering it as a worthy medium of contemporary art. A member of the Northwest artist community, Elek's involvement in art organizations includes: Pilchuck Glass School, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Hilltop Artists, and as a guest lecturer at the University of Washington in Seattle. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Tacoma Art Museum, Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Traver Gallery in Seattle. Elek maintains a studio in south Seattle with husband Jeremy Bert, a Pacific Northwest neon artist with whom she collaborated on their project Illuminated Forest as well as a permanent public installation titled The Illuminated Palouse for the Port of Seattle, located near the D gates at SeaTac International Airport. Utilizing blown furnace glass, Elek creates sculptural objects that display the material's ability to reflect, magnify and represent bold color. Traditional and innovative processes combine in her work to create colorful landscapes of glass. In the spring of 2017, she was awarded the Pilchuck Artist at Work Residency where she developed a new body of work titled Visual Fun, which highlighted the infallibility and vibrant colors of glass.  Elek has traveled to Canada, Japan, Australia, and throughout the United States teaching glassblowing workshops. Magnifying the Christ of ChristmasThe Risen ChristChristmas EveMatthew 1:18–23 | King's Chapel Live StreamChristmas is not only about the birth of Jesus. It is about why He came and what He is still doing today. In this Christmas Eve message, we reflect on the Risen Christ. Jesus was born to die for us, giving His life as a ransom so that we could be forgiven and made new. His birth was the beginning of a mission that would lead to the cross and ultimately to the empty tomb. But the story does not stop there. Jesus will return to reign over us. One day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Until that day, He shines His light upon us, reminding us that darkness will not prevail and that hope is alive because He lives. As we celebrate Christmas, this message calls us to remember that the Christ of Christmas is the Savior who died for us, the King who will reign forever, and the Light who continues to shine in our world today. If you are longing for hope, peace, or light this Christmas, this message points us to the risen Jesus who is still at work and still drawing people to Himself.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL - ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our NeighborChristmas Eve sermon, The Risen Christ, Jesus born to die, Matthew 1 Christmas message, King's Chapel Longwood FL, Christ of Christmas sermon, hope of the resurrection, Jesus light in the darkness, Christmas gospel message

Magnifying the Christ of Christmas, Week 4The Suffering ChristLuke 24:25–27, 44–47, Isaiah 53:1–6 | King's Chapel Live StreamChristmas not only points us to a manger, but also to a cross. Scripture makes it clear that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer. From the prophets to the words of Jesus Himself, God revealed that redemption would come through suffering before glory. In this message, we look at how Jesus opened the Scriptures to show that the Messiah had to suffer in order to save. Through His suffering, Jesus relates to us in our weakness. He rescues us from sin and brings us peace, healing, and freedom. And through our own suffering, we are invited into fellowship with Him, sharing not only in His life but also in His path toward glory.Isaiah foretold a Servant who would be pierced for our transgressions. Hebrews reminds us that Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers and sisters and that He sympathizes with our weaknesses. Philippians shows us that suffering with Christ deepens our communion with Him.As we continue our Advent series, this message reminds us that the Christ of Christmas is also the Suffering Savior who entered our pain so that we could be redeemed, restored, and made new.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL - ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our NeighborAdvent sermon, The Suffering Christ, Isaiah 53 sermon, Jesus suffering servant, Luke 24 Christ fulfilled Scripture, King's Chapel Longwood FL, Christmas and the cross, Jesus sympathizes with us, suffering and glory sermon, gospel fulfillment in Christ

In this sermon, Pastor Jeff concludes an Advent series by exploring the theme of divine love through a comparison of microscopic and telescopic perspectives. He argues that the human heart's natural tendency is to act like a microscope, zooming in on personal hardships until they dominate one's field of vision and obscure faith. To counter this, he encourages the congregation to adopt a telescopic view, which brings the immense scale of God's affection and grace into clear focus. By referencing the biblical examples of David and Mary, the speaker illustrates how individuals can intentionally pivot from magnifying their anxieties to exalting the greatness of Christ. Ultimately, the text serves as a pastoral invitation to recognize the incarnation as the ultimate evidence of a love that is larger than any earthly struggle.Support the showThanks for listening! Magnifying the Christ of Christmas, Week 3The Confessed ChristMatthew 16:13-18 | King's Chapel Live StreamAt the heart of the Christian faith is one question that still demands an answer: "Who do you say that Jesus is?"In Matthew 16, Jesus brings His disciples to Caesarea Philippi and asks them what people are saying about Him. But He does not stop there. He presses deeper and asks them personally who they believe Him to be. Peter's response becomes one of the clearest confessions in all of Scripture. Jesus is the Christ. The Son of the living God.This message explores the context, content, cause, and consequence of that confession. We see that recognizing Jesus as the Christ is not something discovered through human wisdom alone. It is revealed by the Father. And when that confession is made, it changes everything. Jesus declares blessing, stability, and victory for those who stand on this truth. As we continue our Advent series, this sermon reminds us that Christmas is not only about a birth in Bethlehem. It is about a Savior who must be confessed, trusted, and followed. If you are wrestling with who Jesus truly is or being reminded of the foundation of your faith, this message calls us back to the central truth of the gospel. A Servant filled with the Spirit. A Savior who would bind up the brokenhearted. A Son who would be loved and affirmed by the Father. Every part of the Old Testament pointed ahead to the One who would bring hope, healing, and salvation. In this message, we look at how Isaiah, Matthew, and Luke reveal the identity of the Anointed Christ. Jesus is the Chosen Servant who brings justice. He is the Anointed Savior who comforts the mourners, frees the captives, and proclaims good news to the poor. And He is the Beloved Son upon whom the Spirit rests, revealing the deep love and pleasure of the Father. All of these promises come together in Jesus. He fulfills every word spoken about the One who would come. In this Advent episode, we step into Mary's song - the Magnificat - one of the most profound and disruptive prayers in Scripture. Luke 1:46–56 becomes our guide as we explore why this young woman's words have shaped centuries of faith, justice, and worship. We discover how the Greek word megaluno (“to magnify”) reframes our understanding of worship, how every line of the Magnificat draws from the Old Testament, and how Mary holds together God's past faithfulness, her present reality, and the unfolding hope of future generations.Taught by Dominic Done, this message moves into the heart of the Magnificat's theology: God as divine warrior who confronts injustice, and God as the giver of hesed - a steadfast, covenant love that meets us in humility and transforms us from within. We're invited to follow Mary's example by worshiping before the promise is fulfilled, trusting before the evidence appears, and choosing to magnify God rather than our fears or anxieties. For anyone wrestling with perspective, overwhelm, or the pull of negativity, this episode offers a simple but disruptive truth: what we magnify shapes who we become. In a world that fixates on the urgent and the fearful, Mary points us toward a better focus.Podcast Links:Pursuing Faith

Magnifying the Christ of Christmas, Week 1The Promised Christ2 Samuel 7:12–16, Isaiah 9:6, Micah 5:2, Luke 2:10–14 | King's Chapel Live StreamThe story of Christmas did not begin in a manger. It began long before, in the promises of God. Throughout Scripture, God spoke through David, Isaiah, Micah, and even the angels themselves, revealing that a Savior would come and that His kingdom would never end. This first message in our Advent series looks back at the promises that pointed to the birth of Jesus. We see God's promise to David of a King whose throne would last forever. We hear Isaiah describe a Child who would be called Mighty God. We listen as Micah identifies Bethlehem as the place where the Ancient of Days would arrive in flesh. And we rejoice with the angels who announced good news of great joy for all people.Every one of these promises leads to one truth. Jesus is the Promised Christ. His birth brings hope in our darkness, life in our death, and the guarantee that God always keeps His word.If you are longing for hope this Christmas or needing to be reminded of God's faithfulness, this message will encourage you to lift your eyes to the Savior who has come and who will come again.Connect with King's Chapel in Longwood, FL - ▶️ www.kingschapelfl.com▶️ https://www.facebook.com/KingsChapelfl▶️ https://www.instagram.com/kingschapelfl/For the GLORY of our Great GodFor the GOOD of our NeighborAdvent sermon, Christmas prophecy fulfilled, Promised Christ sermon, King's Chapel Longwood FL, Isaiah 9 Christmas message, Micah 5 Bethlehem prophecy, Jesus Son of David sermon, hope in Christ Christmas, Christmas Bible teaching, good news of great joy sermon

For the past seven years, Ajax Trueblood has served as an Elders Quorum Service Coordinator in two different wards in Utah—and he calls it the best calling in the Church. Through that experience, he's learned that consistent, inspired service doesn't just bless those being helped—it transforms the hearts and unity of those who serve. Links Watch the video and share your thoughts in the Zion Lab community Elders Quorum Service Coordinator Movers & Shakers Squad Soup Patrol in Elders Quorum Transcript available with the video in the Zion Lab community Highlights Ajax shares his experience magnifying the often-overlooked calling of the elders quorum service coordinator. He talks about shifting the culture of an elders quorum to be proactively service-oriented, fostering spiritual growth, and extending Christlike care to members and the community beyond the traditional tasks of moving furniture. Ajax emphasizes that selfless service is a central, scriptural tenet of the gospel that should guide the quorum's efforts. Key Insights Service is Core Discipleship: The service coordinator role, while briefly mentioned in the Church handbook (8.5.3), is viewed by Ajax as foundational to the gospel, emphasizing the principles of bearing one another's burdens and charity. The "Movers and Shakers Squad" (M&S): Ajax organizes volunteers into the M&S list, which is mobilized quickly via text messaging for physical labor, focusing on positive responses only to keep communication clean. Physical projects are handled by small, efficient teams with a designated on-site team leader to improve safety and effectiveness. The Power of "Soup Patrol": This initiative is a non-physical service designed to provide emotional connection and support. It involves quickly delivering small tokens, such as homemade soup, bread, or cookies, to those who are sick or struggling, emphasizing presence and care over the physical item. Coordination Over Execution: A key principle is that the coordinator's primary focus should be on coordination—getting the right people the opportunity to serve—rather than defaulting to execution and doing all the work themselves. This builds linkages and involves more people. Beyond Ward Boundaries: The quorum's service extends beyond active members and ward boundaries to help anyone in the community, including those needing yard work, cleanup, or help moving, using these opportunities as a bridge for fellowship and missionary work. Synergy with Ministering: Service efforts must support the ministering program. Ajax proactively contacts assigned ministering brothers to give them the opportunity to be involved first, ensuring the service coordinator system reinforces the core assignment rather than displacing it. Leadership Applications Recruit Based on Willingness: Leaders should identify and recruit members who are genuinely willing and able to serve, creating a volunteer-driven service system rather than assigning reluctant members to tasks. Offer Diverse Service Opportunities: By implementing low-physical-demand options like the "Soup Patrol," leaders can engage members (like the elderly or young fathers) who may be maxed out or resistant to physically demanding assignments like moving, providing a place for everyone to serve. Be Proactive, Not Passive: Service coordinators should adopt a proactive approach, constantly keeping their "feelers out" by asking members for needs and looking for opportunities rather than waiting for formal requests to come down through the bishopric or ward council. 04:00 - Introduction to the Elders Quorum Service Coordinator Role 06:00 - The Service Coordinator Calling is Foundational to the Gospel 07:10 - Handbook Reference and Magnifying the Calling 08:05 - Organizing Service in a Rapidly Growing Ward (Vineyard) 08:50 - The Key to Success: Asking for Volunteers 11:00 - Service in an Older Ward (St. George) and Moving Beyond Moves

Magnifying the Holy Ghost Getting enough of God's people together magnifies the Holy Ghost. This magnification goes straight to God. God will be looking at it for you. Backsliders and the Hard Life The message is about backsliders and how bad it can get. It's not an easy life if you backslide on God and then come back to Him. 2 Peter 2:20-22 is referenced. "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning." "For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them." "But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire." It's better not to have known God than to know Him and turn away. Pollution of the World The pollution of the world is a key concept. Specific examples of pollution from the Bible: Taking a wife to her sister to vex her. Uncovering nakedness during uncleanness. Lying carnally with a neighbor's wife. Passing seed through the fire to Malak. Profaning God's name. Lying with mankind as with womankind (homosexuality). Lying with any beast. Women standing before a beast to lie down. These things defile the nations that God cast out. Backsliding: Stomping on the Cross Backsliding is like stomping on the cross and Christ's sacrifice. It means you don't care about the blood-stained banner. It ultimately comes down to temptation. Results of Backsliding Self-Absorption The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways. They think whatever they do is right and everyone else is wrong. They look at people like they can "burn a hole through them." They are miserable because they willingly went back into bondage. Religious Indifference Iniquity abounds, and the love of many waxes cold. They become cold towards God. They start to disbelieve in God. Playing in the devil's playground leads to being taken home by the devil. Personal Example of Backsliding Mother backslid for 42 years. She blamed someone else for her backsliding. She was told to take the accuser's hand and go to the altar, but she didn't. This goes on in a lot of churches. Confession and Repentance Backsliders need to confess their sins and ask for repentance. They may be hiding things like drinking or engaging in the "pollution of the world." God knows everything, even if family doesn't. God is waiting for them to come back, confess, and repent. Self-Absorption and Its Consequences Backsliders think what they're doing is okay, but it's not. God will bring them back one way or another. His son is not going to be mocked. Jesus made a way of escape for a better life. The Devil's Playground The devil's playground is a place of killing, stealing, and destroying. He gets creatures in his playground by tempting them. The devil never bothered Brother Bobby until after he got saved. The devil uses family members and tells lies to cause division. God doesn't teach division or lies. The devil tries to take what you have away from God by tempting you with something shiny. Divine Displeasure Hebrews 10:38 is referenced. "Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him." God will draw back from you if you draw back from Him. It's terrible to go to bed not knowing if you'll wake up. God may take someone you love away from you. Example: David pleading with God for his child's life. Backsliders are not yielding to temptation. The devil uses friends, coworkers, or new acquaintances to draw you away from God.

High Council members engaged in a live discussion focused on sharing ideas and experiences to strengthen how councils serve their wards and stakes. This podcast is a portion of the livestream discussion. Watch the video and share your thoughts in the Zion Lab community Links The entire conversation and transcript are available in the Zion Lab community Highlights Overview This episode of the Zion Lab live stream from Leading Saints featured a discussion among several current and former Stake High Councilors, focusing on the practical challenges and opportunities of their calling. The participants shared their experiences, best practices, and innovative ideas for magnifying their assignments, effectively bridging communication between the stake and ward levels, and overcoming feelings of inadequacy. Key Insights The Need for Proactivity: The High Council calling can often feel "open-ended," allowing a High Councilor to "do as much as you want" or very little. Leaders are encouraged to be proactive—actively engaging with assigned elders quorum presidencies and ward organizations rather than just attending mandatory meetings. Equality and Insecurity in Calling: New High Councilors frequently feel overwhelmed or insecure when working alongside more seasoned leaders. Counsel was given to overcome this by recognizing that all callings are equal in the sight of the Lord and that the High Councilor's voice and spiritual insights are vital to the council's deliberations. Role as a Spiritual Messenger: High Councilors should see themselves as direct representatives of the Stake Presidency, similar to a General Authority visiting a stake. They are encouraged to be visible, bring spiritual knowledge and instruction, and share a spiritual thought when addressing wards, not merely delivering routine announcements. Mandate to Testify of Christ: Some stakes guide speaking assignments with a General Conference talk, but emphasize that the talk, whether prepared or spontaneous, must be interwoven with a powerful personal testimony of Christ to ensure the Spirit is present. Training and Dissemination of Principles: A core function of the High Council is to receive leadership principles and instruction in the Stake Council. High Councilors are then responsible for taking that training and counsel out to their assigned ward bishoprics and organization presidencies.Leadership Applications Foster Cross-Ward Learning: Stake Presidencies can gain valuable insights and enrich their High Councilors by encouraging them to attend the leadership meetings of the wards where they speak, even if it is not their assigned ward. This exposes High Councilors to diverse operational models among ward councils, creating a cross-training effect. Centralize Administrative Resources: High Councilors should utilize group communication methods, such as shared text threads or digital notes, to quickly share tactical administrative advice, official wording for callings and releases, and handbook references, streamlining the logistical aspects of the calling. Elevate the Message of Love: High Councilors should consistently make a concerted effort to express the genuine love, thoughts, and prayers of the Stake Presidency to the ward members, ensuring the members feel validated, "seen, and prayed for" by their stake leadership. 00:01:36 - Kicking Off: The "Open-Ended" Nature of the High Councilor Calling 00:04:04 - Overcoming Insecurity and Magnifying the Calling 00:06:06 - Advice on Equality and Being a Visible Representative 00:09:38 - The Role of the Spirit vs. Experience in Calling 00:11:23 - Key Role: Training and Teaching Ward Leaders 00:13:07 - Strategies for Stake Engagement: Ward Reporting and Training 00:14:44 - Unique Assignment: Attending Cross-Ward Leadership Meetings 00:16:37 - Close Relationship with Stake Presidency and Financial Duties 00:18:38 - Tactical Tip: Using a High Councilor Text Group for Logistics ...
