Interview by Kris PetersBurton C Bell is a name synonymous with metal.Fresh off his induction into the prestigious Metal Hall of Fame, Burton continues to solidify his legacy as a trailblazer of industrial metal. Renowned for his groundbreaking role in Fear Factory, the extreme music pioneer, multimedia talent, and iconoclastic provocateur resurrects his legacy and forward-thinking destiny, remade in a career-spanning incarnation as a singular solo artist. Bell's discography includes multiple live and recorded collaborations with Black Sabbath icon Geezer Butler and Journey's Deen Castronovo (as GZR); industrial maverick Al Jourgensen and Ministry; and guest vocal appearances with Pitchshifter, Conflict, Soil, Static-X, Soulfly, and Delain, among others. He's the vocalist of Ascension Of The Watchers and City Of Fire and, of course, the co-creator of Fear Factory and the only musician to appear on every Fear Factory release from 1992 through 2024.And now Bell has set his sights on Australia for his solo project, which has already spawned two singles in Anti - Droid and Technical Exorcism, with two more promised before June. His Australian shows promise to be an unmissable experience, featuring heavy, groovy, dark, and moody tracks, alongside rare live renditions of deep cuts from his vast discography, but to find out just what to expect, HEAVY spent some time with Bell to get down and dirty."I had a great response," he smiled when we asked about how his first two solo singles were received. "Live, the fans love them. They translate well. The band that I have gathered - or should I say curated, because it took me a couple of years to grab these guys together. I've known them for a few years, but finally I got this band together and the music that we play is really translating… a new groove that is translating in songs in a heavy, groovy, dark and moody way. It's amazing. What you hear is going to be heavier live."In the full interview, Burton talks more about what to expect from the shows, what has changed with him and his music since his last visit in 2021, how the shows will be intimate, what songs he will be drawing from in the set list, future music and if the singles released are an indication of what the album will sound like, how he keeps music fresh and exciting for himself, the songwriting process and if it becomes easier or harder over time, being inducted into the Metal Hall Of Fame and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

On Saturday June 15th, Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Australia, the second leg of a three-nation tour, which also includes New Zealand and Malaysia. His Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese said in an opinion piece on a major Australian newspaper that the visit signals "another step forward" in stabilizing bilateral relations. There's also a positive change in public perception of China in Australia albeit a slow one. Are the upward trends sustainable? Have we become wiser in managing our differences? Has Australia found a way of navigating between its security alliance with the U.S. and economic partnership with China?

Five years ago, Nick Molnar had a theory that recession-scarred Millennials would prefer to spend their own money and spread their purchases across a series of payments rather than use a loan or credit card. His Australian company Afterpay—which operates similarly to a layaway system where consumers buy a product and pay it off in four installments—has since spread to the U.S. and is now worth billions. The 29-year-old co-founder global chief revenue officer visited Alli and Michael to talk about his start as the number-one seller of jewelry in Australia on eBay, why Afterpay has resonated with debt-ridden, credit-averse young consumers, and how he's tackling international growth and scale. Keep up with Nick at @afterpayusa and @molnarnick, and don't forget to follow @alliwebb for #BTS of Raising The Bar and subscribe and rate us!

The president, CEO, and founder of Answers in Genesis-US, and the highly acclaimed Creation Museum, and the world-renowned Ark Encounter, Ken Ham is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America. Born a native Australian in 1951, Ken moved to America in 1987 to engage in speaking tours with another young-Earth creationist organization, the Inst. for Creation Research (ICR).  In 1994, Ham left ICR & founded Creation Science Ministries- changing its name to what is today known as Answers in Genesis or AiG-with the purpose of upholding the authority of the Bible from the very 1st verse. In May 2007, AiG opened Ham’s brainchild, a 75,000-sq-ft high-tech state-of-the-art facility-better known as the Creation Museum & education ctr., on 70 scenic acres in Petersburg, KY. It contains dozens of world-class exhibits-including impressive animatronic dinosaur models, a $1 million allosaur fossil, & planetarium. In its  1st 10 years, wait for it, the museum attracted 3 million guests!  On Feb. 4th, 2014, Ken became known around the world, when he debated American science educator & engineer Bill Nye, yes that one, better known as “Bill Nye the Science Guy” in a cordial-yet spirited debate in front of a live audience on the topic of whether young-Earth creationism is a viable model of origins vs. Nye’s more contemporary scientific model. It has been estimated that over 3 million people worldwide watched the debate live via online streaming & it was Facebook’s #1 trending topic that day-not too shabby! In July 2016, AiG opened the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY., some 40 miles south of the Creation Museum.  Get this in its first 10 weeks it drew over 300,000 awe-struck visitors & 200 media! The attraction features a life-size Ark as its centerpiece, with a zoo built behind the Ark & a 1,500-seat rest. Ken has authored many books on Genesis, including the eye-opening book Already Gone coauthored by renowned researcher Britt Beemer, on why so many young people have left the church; the best-selling book The Lie Evolution & a # of children’s books such as Dinosaurs of Eden,  D is for Dinosaur, A is for Adam & so on. Speaker Mark Zawacki Type Live Conversation About this conversation The world’s population is currently 7.6 billion inhabitants, which according to WHO is expected to increase dramatically to approximately 9.8 billion inhabitants by 2050. That’s a lot of new mouths to feed and those hockey stick growth projections we all saw as kids is now actually happening. In this talk, Mark will address the myriad of severe challenges in feeding ‘the next 2 billion’ people, some emerging solutions with their respective advantages & disadvantages, and the worldwide leadership imperative required to address such a truly global challenge. More About The Speaker Mark Zawacki is an advisor, researcher and investor. Based in San Francisco, he’s worked in over 80 counties to date in a wide variety of sectors including financial services, retail, media, telco, manufacturing, healthcare & pharmaceuticals and government. He has spent a considerable amount of time in the past few years researching the global agriculture sector and assessing it’s state of readiness to feed 9.8B inhabitants. Mark has previously resided in Australia (twice) and remains a very frequent visitor. His Australian clients have included CBA, Telstra, AMP, the NRMA, Challenger, Clearview Financial, Financial Wisdom and Colonial First State. He’s also been an Advisor to Cure Brain Cancer Foundation in Australia. Conversation Notes - As countries get richer they consume more resource-heavy foods – thus placing more pressure on the global food distribution system. - The solution stems from two markets: which production methods could assist an increase in supply or which consumption means could manage demand? - An assessment of the scalability and viability of initiatives such as rooftop gardens, container farms, vertical farms and urban farms is often overlooked. - In the last five years there’s been dramatic improvement decision-making but going forward, solving the waste problem is not addressing the issue. - “On an individual level, if we all ate lower on the food chain – it would have a profound impact on the health of the world population”. This episode was recorded in Edinburgh, Scotland. Rhys Nicholson is a star waiting to happen. He is visually captivating with his flaming orange read hair, thick black glasses, high cheek bones, chiseled jawline with powdered make up and his smart style of dress.  His comedy is frank, up front, straight forward, unabashed and unapologetic even when he talks about the details of his sex life. In his own words he told his Grandmother "Being gay is not all anal sex and dancing." He can be unsettlingly graphic on stage at times for normal puritan audience members but he always makes me laugh and it is his sincerity on stage that is my favorite thing about his style of comedy. I first met Rhys 5 years ago when we were performing together at the Comedy Store in Sydney, Australia. Back then you could see that he was destined to do great things as a comedian and it is enjoyable to me, someone who is cheering him on, to see the development he has had and where he is as a performer today. This being his 4th Edinburgh Fringe festival he has more experience than me in some areas. I love him as a friend, a comedian and as someone I always easily have great conversations with. In this conversation we talk about the power of the pink dollar, how in Edinburgh people value stories above all else, the unnerving feeling of performing when children are in the audience, his hand made bow ties, his fondness for Argentinians and lamas.  He is the Priscilla Queen of the desert of stand up comedy. He was born to be in show business and his side comments to himself are gems of performers inside jokes that anyone would laugh at feeling a part of the club. His Australian accent, personal style and self referencing humor subliminally encourages everyone to embrace their uniqueness and fabulousness just by sheer example of his being. He has many brilliant years ahead of him as a performer and I am one of his fans and friend that will be cheering him on all the way.  It is my pleasure to present to you now the one and only Rhys Nicholson!
