The secret to me in a long marriage for us is not that you're perfect, but you become professional forgivers. The longest marriage you have, they've forgiven more than a short marriage, for sure, right? Authors Howard and Danielle Taylor didn't start out thinking they'd run a marriage ministry. They just longed for an intentional, intimate relationship that would go the distance. Hear how their own challenges galvanized a purposeful, more weatherproof marriage. I definitely think that you have to speak up. You have to speak up. I don't want to sound cliche that a closed mouth doesn't get fed, but it's causing the marriage to implode, it causes your spirit to implode. Nobody has to know anything but you owe it to yourself and if any children if you have any, to your family that's watching you, they need you to stay together. They need you guys to figure it out. So I think that it's important to first bring in Christ and pray about it -- Danielle Taylor Show Notes and Resources Connect with Howard and Danielle Taylor and find out more about Marriage on Deck at marriageondeck.com Revitalize your marriage: 50% off Weekend to Remember Getaways, Sep 4-18! Experience the power of spiritual intimacy in marriage and learn to trust God's divine plan when He tells you to "go" with Danielle and Howard's story."God gave us a very specific template in how to nurture marriage and serve in the marriage space, because we found through Facebook Live, it was like a great litmus test to the fact that people were hungry and they needed some advice, and oftentimes they needed it silently. We would do videos. It was like, no comments and no engagement, because they don't want to put their own marriage on blast publicly, but they listen in silence and get fed in silence, which was beneficial."Howard and Danielle Taylor met in college in 2001 and have been married since 2005. They have committed to breaking the legacy of divorce in their families and are passionate about helping other couples build healthy marriages through their ministry, Marriage on Deck.Howard and Danielle connected by chance at a college Bible study. In that moment, they both knew they'd found something special in each other. Despite a difficult upbringing, Howard had always wanted to have a strong marriage, and found it in Danielle. To strengthen their relationship and faith, they fast together quarterly and at the end of each year. After a week of fasting, God told them to move their family to Duluth, Georgia, and their faith was rewarded when an email arrived that same night confirming the move. Through this experience, Howard and Danielle learned the power of fasting and how to build spiritual intimacy in their relationship. In this episode, you will learn:1. How to form a spiritually intimate relationship with your spouse2. How to use fasting to draw closer to God3. Are you thinking about new year’s resolutions and getting organized in the coming year, after the chaos of the holidays?  I am too! And honestly, this doesn’t come very naturally to me! Since I was a little girl, I have left a “wake” behind me everywhere I go–cupboards left open, shoes kicked off in the middle of the hallway, and spills on the kitchen counter that should’ve been wiped up immediately, but I didn’t even notice them. Luckily, I have a very wise friend who is teaching me better habits. Candi Kidd (who was our guest in Episode 001!) teaches moms who are naturally messy like me how to keep their lives more tidy and orderly. And her tips can really help any mom, even if you are naturally a neat-freak (P.S. you amaze me), because we all live with children…and children bring chaos and confusion along with them everywhere they go. Join Candi and me as we dive into some very actionable tips to make developing routines and systems EASY for even the most scattered mom. *** Three Takeaways for the Naturally-Messy Mom 1) Be a detective to find and then solve the messy spots in your home. 2) Lower the “activation energy” it takes to get started with cleaning. 3) Focus on completing one J.O.B. (just one bite!) per day. *** -Show Notes- Candi’s Instagram account:  Candi’s first episode: https://3in30podcast.com/unmotivated-kids-to-help/ (001 “Getting Unmotivated Kids to Help)” https://www.amazon.com/House-That-Cleans-Itself-Solutions/dp/0736918809 (The House that Cleans Itself) by Mindy Starns Clark:  Jordan Page who came up with the acronym J.O.B. Welcome to A Counselors Journey To Private Practice. I'm your host, Juan.Danielle Blessing Taylor is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist in DC, MD, VA, and PA who has been providing therapy since 2010 and has built her ever-growing private practice which was created in 2015. In addition to specializing in Telehealth, she also specializes in helping individuals, families, and couples to cultivate healthy relationships. She helps people to make sense of their past and create healthy changes for a happier life within themselves and in relationships with others.Danielle dives deep into what it takes to start a private practice. First, get set up with your logistics. Make sure you have a business address so you can get mail and bill for insurance panels. Get your LLC; whether you go on insurance or not, you will need to have this. Also, you will need your tax number and NPI number. Don't forget to choose your business name, sign up for an EHR, and figure out how you will start a website. Think about Office 365, so you will have access to both Word and Excel. Lastly, get your business credit cards. Once you start paying for different things, you can write them off and keep it organized. Picking A Business NameDanielle has some extra tips for choosing the right business name for your private practice. Are you planning on hiring for a group practice down the line? If so, then have something that is more general. Also, when people are searching on the internet, consider having keywords in your name. For instance, if you are a marriage and family therapy counselor, you can make sure those terms are in your business name. If the practice is simply under your name, it could be more challenging for people to find it when they do a simple Google search. Another strategy is including your town name in the practice name. "Greensboro Counseling Practice," for instance. It will be easier for people to find you who are local to the area. Educate Yourself On InsuranceLearn the different things that come with insurance. Make sure you know how to bill using the modifiers for telehealth. Some private practice owners think insurance is a headache. However, once you get it going, it can be easy. You need to know what to ask for from your clients. Danielle says to keep your mind open to it because it will give you a decent number of clients. Also, it could help with your marketing. If you want to help people who can't go out of pocket, then taking insurance will be essential. Maybe the people in your area cannot afford out of pocket costs, so insurance may be necessary when starting your private practice. Tune in as Danielle gives loads more tips on starting your private practice.Danielle's WebsiteCall Danielle: (202) 759-6107Email Danielle: DBTaylor@mymfts.comAre you interested in receiving help with your counseling business?CLICK HEREThank you for listening. Please leave an awesome review and subscribe to the podcast so that you never miss an episode in your journey of private practice.I'm always looking for awesome counselors that are ready to share their story. She helps people to make sense of their past and create healthy changes for a happier life within themselves and in relationships with others. When growing a telehealth practice, make sure you are licensed wherever your clients are. Danielle even does sessions for couples via telehealth. Typically, her clients will put the computer on a table and sit back on the couch. If a couple is in different places, again, make sure you are licensed to practice there. It's not expected that family members want to do telehealth therapy. So, Danielle mostly works with individuals and couples. For marketing, Danielle uses word of mouth and her website. Because she's been in the area for so long, there is already a referral base. There are many schools in the DC area, so Danielle will contact the counselors at schools and get her name on the referral list. She is always trying to get on referrals lists at colleges. First, she calls the counseling center. Often students will want to be seen through their insurance, especially during COVID. The school will have an online directory of counselors in the area. Danielle gets this done through old-school cold calls to the school. To start telehealth, therapists need a sound system of organization, a website, a way to market, getting on directories, networking, and setting up a virtual address and phone number. It would help if you had everything you would need for a regular private practice, but virtual. Danielle will help therapists get set up – it's customized for every person. She tries to keep the support going for therapists. This support is especially useful for COVID times because every single therapist is going through the same journey. Danielle's WebsiteCall Danielle: (202) 759-6107Email Danielle: DBTaylor@mymfts.comAre you interested in receiving help with your counseling business?CLICK HEREThank you for listening. Please leave an awesome review and subscribe to the podcast so that you never miss an episode in your journey of private practice.I'm always looking for awesome counselors that are ready to share their story.
