In this first-ever edition of “A.I. the Science Guy,” we delve into Robert Epstein's 2021 paper, “Brain as Transducer.” Epstein proposes that the human brain functions as a conduit that converts external stimuli into subjective awareness, challenging traditional models of information processing. By positioning the brain as a “transducer,” he highlights how cognition might involve a continuous translation of physical signals into coherent mental experiences. This perspective invites new discussions across fields ranging from neuroscience to artificial intelligence, reshaping our understanding of how mind and matter intertwine.

Coming into 2025, we have six flights of SpaceX's Starship behind us, with a possibility for as many as 25 tests supported by the FAA license for this year. This is also the year we need to see an orbital test, payloads carried, orbital refueling, and hopefully catches of both the Booster and Ship, and progress toward an uncrewed test landing on the moon. So much to discuss, so join Tariq, Rod, and ace space reporter Leonard David as we deep dive into King Starship! Headlines: • Wildfires near NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, have displaced many employees and caused the facility to shut down temporarily, but the lab itself remains untouched. • NASA is considering two options for the Mars Sample Return mission, both under $8 billion, with a launch planned by 2035-2039. • Bill Nye, CEO of The Planetary Society and former host of "Bill Nye the Science Guy," was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his dedication to science education and space exploration advocacy. Main Topic - SpaceX Starship in 2025: • SpaceX plans to ramp up Starship test flights in 2025, with up to 25 launches scheduled throughout the year. • Starship test flight 7, scheduled for January 13th, will feature a new Starship design with enhanced flaps, a new flight computer, and other upgrades. • The goal of Starship is to serve as a reusable, heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of carrying up to 100 people and 100 metric tons of cargo to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. • SpaceX is rapidly iterating on the Starship design, with stated plans to build new Starships in a single day and test new features on each flight. • While Starship's development has been impressive, questions remain about its life support systems, radiation protection, and interior design for crewed missions. • A discussion of the potential impact of Starship on NASA's Artemis program and the future of space exploration, including the possibility of using Starship as a space station or for Mars missions. • The conversation also touches on the challenges facing NASA, including aging infrastructure and the need for greater collaboration with the private sector, as highlighted in a recent report by the National Academies. After decades of mindless kids programming on network television, there was a push for more educational TV in the early 1990s. The idea they claimed was to help children learn about recycling and the environment, but the real reason was more sinister. The goal was the create a generation of political and social activists through subversive propaganda, and that seems to have worked. The White House doubles down on woke science with the awful decision to give "Bill Nye the Science Guy" a presidential medal of freedom. I explain why this is a serious problem, in this episode of the Brad vs Everyone podcast. Plus, anti-Trump TikToks are getting unhinged and some fascinating highlights from NBC where mainstream media actually clashes with Democratic Party elites.

Kristaps Porzingis returns tonight for the Celtics, aiming to help extend their winning streak. Meanwhile, Bill Nye the Science Guy brings a unique boost to the team. Jokic continues to dominate the Lakers, making any notion of a rivalry seem pointless—MVP honors should already have his name on them. The Sixers, despite their 3-12 record, are serving up a new NBA buddy comedy with Jared McCain and Tyrese Maxey. McCain claims he's the Rookie of the Year, but the Sixers are still 3-12. Plus, Amin accuses the NBA of stealing his 2025 All-Star Game rule ideas—and he's got the receipts to prove it. Finally, we dive into another round of Prop-A-Slot bets with our top DraftKings picks. In the aftermath of increasingly destructive natural disasters like Hurricanes Helene and Milton, politicians on both sides of the aisle have politicized the recovery effort. What fewer people are making political is the reason those storms were so destructive: warmer oceans caused by climate change. Bill Nye, the Science Guy, joins us to talk about why people should vote with the environment in mind this November. And in headlines: Former President Donald Trump blames Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for Ukraine's war with Russia, A Texas state court temporarily delays an execution, Israeli officials killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, and Google says it will block all political ads as soon as the polls close on November 5th.Show Notes:Check out Bill's initiative – https://tinyurl.com/mr3dn6npSubscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

Enjoy Movies! This week in the United States is Independence Day. A time for the country to celebrate breaking away from a big empire. So this week we look at some filmmakers that break away from big empires of movie studios to do their own thing and get out a story that they are passionate about. Well-known directors such as George Lucas, John Carpenter, George Miller, Kevin Smith, and Quentin Tarantino all got their starts by making small, independent movies. Not all filmmakers garnish as much power as these directors. Some remain small, but no less dedicated to their work. So kick up your feet and put on a movie that you may not have heard of before. Are there independent films you recommend? What makes them enjoyable? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Your loan has been denied” will get a special mention on the show. People all over the country stepped outside and put on their cardboard glasses to view an historic total solar eclipse that swept across Mexico, the United States and Canada. An estimated 32 million people who live within the path of totality were able to see the skies dramatically darken. The next one won't be visible from the contiguous U.S. until August 2044. Bill Nye, “The Science Guy,” shares with Anderson why today's celestial event was so special. Plus, Special Counsel Jack Smith is urging the Supreme Court to reject the former President's claims of immunity, and to deny him any opportunity to delay the election subversion trial, saying Trump's position has no Constitutional grounds. Former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger, who served on the House January 6th Select Committee and former federal prosecutor Jeffrey Toobin join AC360 to break down the Special Counsel's new filing.
