Touch And Violence“In the 1960s, anthropologist James Prescott carried out a very large scale study of child rearing and violence across different societies. He foun dthat those societies which gave less touching and affection to young children, had by far the most violence amongst adults."It's clear that the more tender and warm are the lives of children, the safer and more loving they will be as adults.” Steve Biddulph, Raising BoysIn the UK at the moment there is a lot of violence on the streets.I read the above quote today and thought that I would share a few ideas about why this violence might be happening.Could it have anything to do how we bring our children up?Could it be that so many of the leaders in the UK in medicine, and politics used to talk about the need for less touch? Leave them to cry? James Prescott is an author, podcaster, and Twitter boss (he's always thought-provoking which I admire a great deal). Today, James shares the story of the trauma and grief he suffered by his mother's sudden hospitalization as a child. When she returned to the family, her faith strengthened his but when she died years later, James began to ask God some questions. James shares his contemplative journey and why he started the Poema podcast. His story reminds us that it's okay to ask God questions because He often uses them to mature us into his image. Listen to James' story in your favorite podcast app now! Stories James shared: The season of grief as we endure a pandemic The two responses to grief Growing up in a Christian family in the Methodist The moment his mom woke up after a coma Being more interested in Jesus after his mom's injury Making a decision at 15 to follow Jesus Growing in discipleship as a college student Questioning God after his mom died Finding a new community that allowed him to ask his questions His changing theological beliefs Finding a more contemplative expression of his faith The transcendent moment during a Taizé service Starting his podcast Poema Great quotes from James: This God I believe in is not big enough for me. I changed how I believe as much as what I believe because how you believe is really important. Sometimes you can be in pain and not know it You are not alone. Tiffany Werhner hosted and moderated a panel discussion on Social Anxiety and Hypersensitivity.Panelists: David Aguilera, Kirk Patrick Miller, and James Prescott - Contact and project details are at the end of the description.Watch the Video of this Conversation: https://youtu.be/e2ZFDs-meC0Hear the hopes and intentions to live a less anxious life. An open and free-flowing conversation with mental health advocates, talking with vulnerability and honesty about the challenges they face particularly related to being hypersensitive and having social anxiety. We learn a bit about each as they introduce themselves, then the conversation is more free flowing. Tiffany had a few specific questions to keep the conversation focused. Our show Guests were David Aguilera, Kirk Patrick Miller, and James Prescott. All three of these gentlemen suffer with Hypersensitivity as well as anxiety, and live their day to day lives with these underlying mental health issues. The guests were all on the show to talk about social anxiety and hypersensitivity, something they all share in common. Each had his own history of dealing with the issue, and touched on a number of subjects in regard to how this level of anxiety leads to being hyper-aware. With anxiety and hypersensitivity, one is literally taking in every single input there is around them, and overwhelming their own ability to process it all. It affects everyday activities, relationships, and can often lead to physical ailments. While some of the effects were common across the panel, others were not. Everyone experiences anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and rumination differently, to different degrees, and also depending on the situation. Each of our panelists has taken their experiences and turned them into methods of helping people. See below for the links and information of each of of our panelists. After a phone call from Jennifer who asked for the panelists’ opinions on her hypersensitivity that can be so severe it makes her stay physically curled in a ball in her bed. Specifically she talked making a mistake or saying something incorrectly in a social situation, which probably anyone who has ever had anxiety could identify with. The panel immediately responded with understanding, positivity, and kindness. The group was in agreement that we are our own worst critics, noticing every single mistake we make, and dwelling on them for hours, when in reality, most other people have already forgotten about them. There’s so much more in the show, so please, take a watch, and if you can’t do that, ask your smartphone or smartspeaker to “Play Moments of Clarity with Tiffany podcast episode number 424” so you can take a listen.Guest Information:David AguileraFounder and Moderator of Beautiful Minds Online Support Group, Video BloggerJoined us from Charlotte, North CarolinaBeautiful Minds Support Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/270465390575783Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/david.aguilera.1042032LinkedIn: https://bit.ly/3eXwztqKirk Patrick MillerAuthor, Teacher, Speaker, Mental Health Advocate, Advocate for Equal Rights, Violinist, Linguist, Founder and Director of The Miller-Beck Institute of MusicJoined us from ColoradoKirk's Books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3eIWTY7Dawn of Davna, the first in the Light of Lunera Series: https://amzn.to/305izcEChaos to Cured - The True Story of Defeating Bipolar Disorder: https://amzn.to/2AyLtavThe Miller-Beck Institute of Music: https://www.facebook.com/MillerBeckMusicTwitter: www.twitter.com/chaos2curedFacebook: www.facebook.com/kirkenmillerLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/kirk-millerInstagram: www.instagram.com/chaos2curedJames PrescottWriter and PodcasterJoined us from London, EnglandWebsite: https://jamesprescott.co.ukPoema Podcast Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/poemapodcastContinuing the Poema Coversation Facebook Group: https://Facebook.com/groups/poemapodcastPoema Podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://bit.ly/poema-podcastPodcast on Podbean: http://jamesprescott.podbean.comFacebook (wiriting and podcast): https://www.facebook.com/JamesPrescottWriterPersonal Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/jamespressgangTwitter: https://twitter.com/JamesPrescott77Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jamesprescott77Moments of Clarity with TiffanyThank you for watching. The Affiliate Guy with Matt McWilliams: Marketing Tips, Affiliate Management, & More
One of the biggest challenges for new online marketers is knowing how many emails they can send to their list. This is especially true when it involves asking them to buy something. I got a question about this recently and today I share why you can and should email more than you think. James Prescott wrote me about his struggle with email frequency: I am struggling sending out too many e-mails to my list. I can do one per week, but doing three or four, I can feel uncomfortable with. It may just be me, maybe it's something I need to work on - because I LOVE sharing great resources with my people. Grace is the starting point for everything, says James Prescott.
Today 'James Talks' relaunches as the 'Poema Podcast'. This week we have three episodes - today, tomorrow and Thursday. The others will have very special guests, today's is the first of some reflective episodes - all of these will be hosted and curated by me, James Prescott. In this first episode, Poema's I'll be talking about the changes to the podcast, what we'll be doing in this first season of the 'Poema Podcast'. I also explore what this word 'Poema' really means, its roots in scripture, and how it's fundamental to us exploring our identity, finding our calling, and stepping out in faith to create the life God intended us to live. I unpack the idea that we're all God's masterpiece, our lives are works of art - and share how if we root ourselves in grace, we can be liberated to create the life God always wanted for us - and ultimately, help create a better world.
James Talks turns 1 year old this week! And to celebrate, today we have a very special edition - Chloe & Taylor Turner, AKA Chasing Lovely, who were my first guests on James Talks, are interviewing me, James Prescott! And it's a combination of a total roasting, and some deep discussion on spirituality, creativity, calling and the issues I'm passionate about. There's some fun questions like random facts about me, embarrassing stories, celebrity crushes, my soul animal, and who I'd interview if I could interview anyone in history. Then we move on to some more serious questions, about grace, how we find our calling & identity, habits of creativity, how I found my voice, and exploring who I think Jesus is, what I think about the Bible & what I think it means to live a life in tune with the divine. Plus there's some exclusive info about my first book, and the book I'm currently writing! Chloe, Taylor & I had so much fun recording this and I'm so excited for you to hear it. Here's to many more James Talks episodes to come!

This is chapter 5 of the novel "Between Earth and Arcturus" by James Prescott. Admiral Higgs takes Admiral Fisher to the capital of Earth, West Point, where we meet Vice President Batastia and the inner circle of evil men who now rule the known galaxy. Admiral Higgs has taken Fisher under his wing to guide him up the through the ranks, but is beginning to realize that Fisher is a monster.
This is chapters 2 and 3 together of the novel Between Earth and Arcturus by James Prescott, which tell how Lynda Stokes objects to Paul wanting to bring Aguire into the rebellion, but finally agrees to to check him out in person and, possibly, allow him to join Captain Poluka on the new ship, which will put Aguire on the path to treason whether he likes it or not. Aguire meets Captain Poluka at the McConnell Spaceport near New Wichata. There he runs into a policeman whom he knows, and learns that the New Federation is arresting people for protesting, people who are never seen again. Aguire learns more about the new government and finds that he has a new path to follow, still unaware that he is being manipulated.
The Starship Himilco is the first story James Prescott wrote about adventures of Earthmen travelling to Arcturus in the 28th century. This short story takes place ten years before the events in the novel Between Earth and Arcturus, and was intended to be the prequel to the novel, but didn't make it into the final draft. I am presenting it here in two parts. Episode 1Himilco part 1 Gentry Stokes III was born in the year 2766 and is the son of the richest man in the galaxy. He is a young man troubled by superhuman strength which he must hide from the world and a belief that his grandfather was an alien. Unfortunately, scientific opinion has concluded that the probability of aliens in galaxy is zero, so Gentry's obsession with his ancestry lands him in mental hospital until Clifford Poluka gives him the opportunity to prove the existence of aliens. This troubled young man is also a mathematics prodigy who, at the age of 19 years, finds a way out of the mental hospital and onto the Starship Himilco for the first manned mission to Arcturus. Episode 2Himilco part 2 Gentry is making friends aboard the Starship Himilco during the long voyage to Arcturus. They must pass through the Zone, which no vessel has ever done before. When they find the Himilco cannot maintain a constant speed they discover the secret of the Zone that has been destroying every probe sent there, and a radio signal leads them to a damaged alien vessel.
