For two years now this podcast has served as the fertile ground for the emergence of the Creativity is Spirituality Ministry, and we couldn't have done it without you, our listeners. Ministry is a term I don't take lightly. It has a very specific connotation for me as someone who was raised in and subsequently deconstructed and departed from evangelical christianity in the United States. Seeing as though I'm only months away from Ordination as an Interfaith Minister, I hope to not only reclaim the word ministry for myself in my calling as well as reclaim it for you, and what I mean by ministry comes from an interfaith perspective, and refers only to the ways I make offerings to the community. While our podcast is on hiatus until I am ordained in July of 2022, what we do is evolving, and the ways in which we accept support has changed, too. Creativity is Spirituality now has a team in place to make this ministry possible, for which I am sincerely grateful, and allows the ideas we promote to reach further. The best way to stay engaged with us these days is to visit our Linktree, where you will find an entire menu of our offerings, or ways to show your support for this ministry, and to stay informed on events, announcements, and more conversations like this one. You can also find us on Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn You can also sponsor this podcast monthly by going to the description on Anchor or Spotify. We appreciate our listeners very much. Thank you so much for your support, in any way you can show it! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aprilklingmeyer/support
Alexander Meyer is the Junior National Team Head Coach of Archery Ireland as well as a User Experience Designer. These two expertises may not seem like they have a great deal of overlap, but Alex has found many commonalities between the two in his simultaneous career in both fields. Originally from New York City, the son of a painter and an interior designer who raised him to be artistically inclined, Alex has lived most of his life in Austin, Texas, having recently moved to Ireland in summer of 2019 to coach archery for the national Olympic-level team. Making it to become one of the 10 highest qualified Olympic-style archers in the world hasn't happened without tremendous and seemingly insurmountable setbacks, the greatest of which being the relationship he has had to forge with his own body, transforming that relationship from one that is adversarial to one that is collaborative only through open communication to and from the physical body, which for Alex has served as a portal to his own understanding of his spiritual nature. Here's the TEDx talk referenced in the episode with Tim Harford. Samuel D. Ibrahim was once a Baptist minister in Houston, TX. He's also a licensed attorney who advocated for special needs children and parents alienated from their children. His first book, "Mind of the Prophet - The Diary of a Curious Mind - Volume I,” was an accident. Sam never intended to write a book when he began journaling. Writing helped him to overcome a severe, protracted bout with depression, and served as a method to organize his thoughts to understand recent mystical experiences with Creation. However, after sharing his expanded views about God and the Universe, many of his blog readers encouraged him to publish these supernatural experiences for public consumption and discussion. After the fateful day of September 11th, 2001, my brother Steven Kling placed his career in IT on hold, joining a Special Operations unit of the U.S. Army known as Civil Affairs. Its mission: to protect refugees and rebuild societies torn apart by war. Steven served two combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and is a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Combat Action Badge and the Joint Services Commendation Medal. Steven left the Reserve after 11 years of distinguished service, serving as both enlisted and officer, and achieving the rank of Captain. Les Weiler, creator of "The Unstuck Creative" and a dynamic and prolific multimedia artist, grew up in Paris, Texas, dreaming of becoming a Disney animator. He loved to draw and paint as a youth, even majoring in painting at University of Texas. During his graphic design career over 14 years, his passions led him into the studio from time to time, producing work for video games, websites, and making logos, while helping friends with their comic books and screenplays-- "anything but art that might reveal a real me." He eventually left a salaried job and tried freelancing, yet still finding an urge to express himself artistically-- and from the heart-- he then decided to get serious about the expression he feels most passionate about: writing. For the last three years he's found balance by splitting his time across his tech support job, his podcasts, his volunteer work, and his screenwriting. "Though I still have a lot of mountain to climb, I'm excited to have my life, and this feels like just the start."
