On April 15, 2013, the Boston Marathon witnessed a horrific event, 5 people died and 264 people were seriously injured from the bombings. Jennifer was one of them. In an instant, her whole world was shattered. Surviving a terrorist attack led her to ask the question: “What good can possibly come from this?” On her 4 year journey of healing, she discovered she had to stare at herself in the mirror and forgive her own inner terrorist. When she was asked to present as a witness to prosecute her attacker in court she experienced an overwhelming sense of peace when she stared her attacker in the eyes and forgave him. Knowing she had to come full circle, Jennifer fearlessly ran the 2017 Boston Marathon. This time she finished it. The terrorist attack became the greatest gift of her life. Jennifer is the producer of 2 Emmy award-winning films, an award-winning documentary, ‘A New Leash On Life', an Emmy nominated broadway show ‘Dream Big' with Rudy Ruettiger and is due to release the movie 'There's Got To Be More To Life - Transforming Through Trauma'. There are those moments that impact the entire nation and sometimes the world that we will never forget. Maybe we even remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we heard the news. The Oklahoma City Bombing, 911, and the Boston Marathon are just a few. As the days inch by we hear of those lost, those who survived and those injured. More days pass and life resumes its normal pace, except for those who were among the injured and who must find a way to heal, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. On April 15, 2013, Jennifer Kauffman was standing 15' from where the second bomb went off during the Boston Marathon. Years of working to heal later, in a fit of completely out of control road rage, Jennifer found herself chasing down another person who had cut her off in traffic. Gratefully, not only was no one harmed, but it woke her up to herself in a whole new way and the truest healing was able to begin. A big part of Jennifer's healing journey was directing and producing the film There's Got to be More to Life, theresgottobemoretolife.com A film she hope's will help others to move through the transformational process of shifting from surviving to thriving. Just Lesley as she speaks with Jennifer of the amazing, painful, and ultimately liberating journey that brought her to a level of wholeness beyond what she knew prior to the bombing. Jennifer is the Director and Producer of the transformational movie, theresgottobemoretolife.com, based on a true story of Jen's journey of rising up from terrorism and childhood traumas where she went from barely surviving to thriving. Jennifer Kauffman realized she needed to share her Boston Marathon Bombing story. She knew that was the only way she could free herself emotionally. One of the main things she did to help herself thrive after this traumatic experience was to forgive the bombers and then, forgive herself. Jennifer ultimately came to terms with insecurity issues that often emerged. Although she had accomplished a lot in her life, she was always looking for more. Sure, she felt a little burst of happiness after completing something, but it would fade fast. To change her trajectory, Jennifer realized that she needed to live a more contented and fulfilled life. In this episode Christy and Jennifer Kauffman discuss: Our purpose in life Showing compassion to yourself Making a mosaic Key Takeaways: Trauma can be a gift if it leads us into the path of the divine. On the other side of suffering is a gift: freedom. Create a compassionate voice inside you that speaks kind words to you and always cares for and understands you. Life is for you, it is created through you, by you, and with you. You have the power to make a mosaic out of your broken pieces. “Without contrast, there is no expansion. Without darkness, there is no light. https://movies.influencr.me/ MEET JENNIFER KAUFFMAN Inspirational Speaker, Best-Selling Author, Survivor As a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombings, Jennifer takes pride in finding all natural/alternative solutions to achieving overall health, vitality and well-being. ~Jennifer Kauffman On April 15, 2013, Jennifer Kauffman was standing approximately 15 feet from the finish line bombing at the 117th Boston Marathon. Three people died suddenly that day while two others lost their lives tragically in days and months later. At least 264 people were seriously injured from the bombings. She was one of those people. Jennifer was hospitalized but despite her doctor's advice to stay she refused. Why you ask? The doctors were struggling to figure out all that was happening with Jennifer. Her stay at the hospital was also traumatic so she chose to leave to be with her family and to find a way to heal her “invisible” physical and emotional injuries alternatively. Jennifer was at the height of her career…she had just come off her best year in business, recently signed a publishing deal with Balboa Press to launch her first book when life threw her an unexpected and horrific curve ball. She literally felt shattered as a result of the bombings. She suffered from ear, neck, and internal injuries. None of her major systems (cardiovascular, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, endocrine, skeletal, muscle and immune) were working properly or in sync with one another. She has battled chronic pain for nearly 3 years. Jennifer has been on a quest to find a way to heal naturally and to share her experience with others. Anyone who knows Jennifer knows that she is an unstoppable woman who seeks to create breakthroughs for herself and others to achieve a life that is filled with health, wealth, happiness and love. She is passionate about teaching others how to create breakthroughs for themselves. JENNIFER'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO DATE Jennifer is an award-winning results coach, best-selling author, inspirational speaker, executive producer of the Emmy award-winning and Telly award-winning documentary, A New Leash On Life: The K9s for Warriors Story. This inspirational film sheds light on veterans returning from war with PTSD and the real struggles they face re-entering into civilian life. This film is near and dear to Jennifer's heart because of the struggles she faced suffering from PTSD, among other serious injuries, after the Boston Marathon bombing. BROADWAY & A BOOK In February 2019, Jennifer was part of the production team that produced the first ever one man Broadway show called, Dream Big: Rudy Ruettiger Live on Broadway to a sold out audience. During the show, Rudy shares his incredible story, telling in his own words how he succeeded in getting into, and playing for Notre Dame, despite dozens of rejections. You can view this inspiring Broadway show on Amazon Prime and you'll hear how Rudy got his story out to the world, making him a household name synonymous with determination and refusal to quit. This episode is about not only surviving, but thriving after a traumatic event. My guest, Jennifer Kauffman, was at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, waiting for her friend's son to cross the finish line. A few moments later, 15 feet away, she heard a loud noise and screaming. She soon found out that the noise she heard was a bomb. Ms. Kauffman was one of many people injured during the terrible events of that day. She ended up in the hospital, and eventually, against her doctor's orders, discharged herself from the hospital. She decided that she wanted to heal naturally, and that's exactly what she did! Through acupuncture, whole food nutrition, brain integration therapy, and other methods, she was not only able to heal physically from her injuries, but also emotionally, from the traumatic events of that fateful day. She is now thriving! She was a guest author of Jack Canfield's best-selling novel “Mastering the Art of Success,” where she wrote about her experience. Ms. Kauffman is also about to release her own book: “Shattered - The Boston Marathon I Never Wanted to Run and Did! The Journey of Healing Naturally.” This book is about moving beyond the struggles in your life, as well as healing from trauma naturally!
