Some have required approximately 700 reminders. And some are just the increasingly confident opinions of a woman rapidly running out of fucks.A birthday episode about getting older, getting wiser and realizing that maybe having everything figured out was never the point.

Jessimae Peluso is back on SHENK with Sara Weinshenk, and this time they're talking about gray hairs, periods, astrology, food recalls, fishy eggs, haunted hotels, expensive travel, camping, tattoos, anxiety and preparing for the apocalypse. Sara and Jessimae get into the weird realities of getting older, why periods still feel like a monthly betrayal, and whether intuition is actually intuition or just anxiety. They also investigate the increasingly complicated world of eggs, including fishy yolks, pasture-raised chickens and Jessimae's hard-boiled egg peeling hack. Then things get appropriately unhinged: food recalls, Trader Joe's, seed collecting, growing sweet potatoes, surviving a collapse, expensive hotels, airport drinking, haunted hotels in Alaska and the strange experience of touring as a comedian. It's another episode of SHENK with Sara Weinshenk and comedian Jessimae Peluso. Plus, listeners share the balls they wish they hadn't dropped, the people they chased instead of their dreams, the grudges they held too long and the choices that seemed like failures but ultimately led them somewhere better. EPISODE.39: When Should You Say Goodbye to a Pet? Dying Laughing with Jessimae Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest decisions we'll ever make—but how do you know when it's the right time? In this episode, Jessimae explores the heartbreaking question every pet owner eventually faces: What makes a good quality of life, and when does holding on become holding them back? Inspired by a moving article written by a palliative care physician, she dives into the world of pet hospice, quality-of-life assessments, pain management, and why animals often hide their suffering until the very end. Jessimae also shares the deeply personal story of saying goodbye to her soul dog, Carlin, and how she ultimately knew it was time. Along the way, she discusses the emotional weight of euthanasia, the surprising similarities between human and veterinary hospice care, and why sometimes the greatest act of love is letting go on a good day instead of waiting for the worst one. Whether you're grieving a pet, caring for an aging companion, or simply want to be better prepared for one of life's most difficult moments, this episode offers compassion, practical guidance, and a reminder that loving our animals also means knowing when to say goodbye.

Man was this podcast fun to record.  I felt like I used to before comedy when podcasting was everything.  I was in a great mood and just sat down by myself and got Silly for an hour. Life has been up and down but there's been so many amazing things going on it was nice to be grateful and appreciate the magic of the recent shows. Throwing together a midnight show for two of the best comedians in the game (Jessimae Peluso and Mike Lynch) on less than 10hrs notice was one of my favourite nights I've had in comedy. Definitely worth the sleep deprivation. It taught me so many lessons and showed how the lessons of running shows i've learned over the years can come together to make something magic out of nothing. Take a listen and hear about how it all came together!Next weekend is going to be huge for @themoonyeg we have a GINORMOUS Asylum on June 26th. She also opens up about unlearning and undoing parts of who she thought she was, her experience at the Hoffman Institute, and the emotional chaos of writing honestly about family, grief… and exes while somewhat sober. Jessimae reflects on disappearing from the internet, the pressure of constant visibility, the strange state of the world while she was gone, and how some healing and transformation can only happen in private. Raw, reflective, and darkly funny, this episode marks the beginning of a new chapter for Dying Laughing.

Comedians Jessimae Peluso (Girl Code, Sharp Tongue, Dying Laughing podcast) and Justin Martindale (Just Sayin' podcast, Gay Bash) join Jameela Jamil for a Wrong Turns episode that escalates from bad dates into full survival mode.Jessimae shares how mistaking a walking red flag for romance led to “dating the DSM-5,” escalating behavior, and ultimately pursuing a restraining order when things turned genuinely frightening. Justin recounts a friendship-ending humiliation involving accusations that made no sense, a brutal “your dad's a 4” assessment, and the unforgettable concept of Midwest Turtle People.Together, they unpack why behavior that's “normally romantic” can become alarming fast, how charm can disguise danger, and why sometimes the only correct response is calling on a trusted friend to go "full-towel, nuts out, in a bush".No lessons. No silver linings. Just two unforgettable Wrong Turns and one very palpable vibe.Jameela's Substack is A Low Desire To Please, you can also find her on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Our consulting producer is Colin Anderson.Wrong Turns was created and produced by Jameela Jamil and Stewart Bailey.Listen to Wrong Turns on Amazon Music or wherever you find your podcasts. In a week marked by devastating headlines including the mass shooting in Bondi and the loss of cultural icon Rob Reiner, Jessimae found herself coming off one of the most joyful comedy weekends of her career, and sitting with an uncomfortable question: Am I allowed to feel good right now? The Grief of Joy is a grounded, honest reflection on emotional whiplash, collective grief, and the guilt that can come with happiness during hard times. Jessimae unpacks why laughter isn't denial or disrespect, but a vital form of regulation and survival and how learning to hold both sorrow and joy is part of emotional adulthood. This episode is about honoring loss without shrinking joy, and allowing relief to exist without apology when the world feels heavy.
