As a keen reader - teetering on the obsessive actually, I read upwards of 600 books a year - I've had to get very good at choosing which books to focus on. I want to lock-on to the right ones fast + ditch the wrong ones for me faster. AI has changed how I do that. In this solo show I share exactly how I use it to get better recommendations, decide whether to abandon a book + extract the good bits from a dull one without suffering through 19 hours of dry-as-dust prose with no pay-off. Ask me how I know that last one... Plus, how to use it when there are topics you just can't face right now. More useful than it sounds in these turbulent times Look for more solo shows where I share ideas you can use immediately. Books discussed in this episode: Becky Chambers' entire oeuvre Most of Alan Hollinghurst's books Books - Brett Easton Ellis Midnight and Blue - Ian Rankin ==== If you'd like my help with your Business go to www.lizscully.com/endlessClients ==== And don't forget to get your reading list of the 10 essential reads for every successful biz owner - these are the books Liz recommends almost on the daily to her strategy + Mastermind clients. God lytting! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

No business books today. Just me, a pile of fiction + strong opinions. (Would you expect anything less of me?) This is our second speed reviews solo - a quick run through of recent books from the finished pile. We start with a debut novel that everyone loved... except me. So often the way. We look at a Glasgow crime series I can't get enough of - and the audio book narrator of dreams. Plus, my fave book of 2026 so far - a razor sharp workplace comedy. With plethora of other books - including a historical crime novel narrated by someone who quite possibly should narrate everything + a brief appearance of radioactive toothpaste. Who'd have thought. Look for more solo shows + the monthly Fiction + History Pop-Ups. Books discussed in this episode: Yesteryear - Caro Clare Burke Seascraper - Benjamin Wood Word Monkey - Christopher Fowler The Book of Forgotten Authors - Christopher Fowler The Cutting Room - Louise Welsh - #1 The Rilke Series The Second Room - Louise Welsh - #2 The Rilke Series The Cut Up - Louise Welsh - #3 The Rilke Series Bookish - Matthew Sweet Help Wanted - Adelle Waldman Children of Radium - Jo Dunthorne ==== If you'd like my help with your Business go to www.lizscully.com/endlessClients ==== And don't forget to get your reading list of the 10 essential reads for every successful biz owner - these are the books Liz recommends almost on the daily to her strategy + Mastermind clients. Tomasz Szymański, autor popularnego instagramowego profilu Solo Show, debiutuje książką „Ukryte na widoku. Portland storyteller and comic Ash Allen is on something of a roll. She’s won the Moth’s StorySLAM multiple times. Willamette Week recently named her one of its Funniest Five and in 2025 she was a Best of Portland Comedy finalist. Allen has headlined festivals including Pickathon, Fire and Story, and Hell Yes Fest. She says this debut solo storytelling show “Big Feelings Baby" is “rooted in queer identity, grief, humor, and the act of reclaiming one’s voice.” She explores what it means to “grow up different” in the Mississippi woods, “to be asked to quiet that difference, and to eventually choose to live out loud.” Allen joins us to share more details about her upbringing and her show that premiers this weekend

In my first solo episode, I (Meredith) step behind the mic to reflect on the tension between joy, guilt, and real resistance. This show dives into the nuance of emotional substitution and how feel-good phrases like “Joy is Resistance” can unintentionally bypass the real work of activism. We will explore what true resistance looks like (spoiler: it's not always comfortable), and how we can hold both joy and responsibility without confusing the two. I'm going to challenge you to build your emotional capacity, reflect on your guilt, and start engaging with real sustained action. You don't need to agree, you just need to stay curious. Topics Covered: The myth of "joy as resistance" Baldwin, Lorde, and the call for responsibility Emotional partitioning (hello, divided plate metaphor!) Guilt vs. action in the face of injustice What real resistance actually looks like
Ep #347 - Letting Go of Obsolete Thinking - A Solo Show with your host, Susan Burrell We are now in the first week of February 2026, and I am focusing on the collective message of awakening your inner authority. We are still feeling the effects of the Chinese Year of the Snake as it comes to a close—and through this process, we are continuing to shed all that no longer serves us. This is important to pay attention to as we approach the Year of the Fire Horse. Here, I am referring to the Chinese New Year, which begins on February 17, 2026. The Year of the Fire Horse represents fast, rapid timing, with life appearing to move quickly. Because of this, it's essential to listen to your inner authority and pause before making choices or reacting to what is occurring outside of yourself. I believe much of last year was about becoming aware of what no longer serves you—or the collective. As we approach the end of this phase, the Year of the Snake, I encourage you to notice what is showing up for you. Reflect on what no longer serves and allow yourself to let it go. Listen within to hear what is being communicated. This inner listening will help you step into the new and fully enter the Year of the Fire Horse. We are now creating for ourselves and co-creating what we want to see in our lives. This begins within the guidance system that lives in the heart-space. We are at a place where we can claim our own authority. This is ancient wisdom. It is intuition. It resides within each of us and will guide you—if you listen. Are you paying attention to it? Do you want to continue obsolete thinking? To keep doing what was, even when it no longer serves you? We have been conditioned to listen to others, to outer authority—but the time has come to listen within. To listen to yourself. To go deep. To quiet the outside noise so you can hear the whispers within. I say: trust that voice. Trust yourself, and release the obsolete thinking that has kept you stuck. This process requires exploration. Journaling may help. A meditative walk. Or simply going quiet and creating space to listen. What is needed now is a higher frequency of love and energy to prevail. So I ask you: Are you functioning at a low frequency? Are you allowing outside sources to dictate how you function? It is time to shift—to pay attention to what we are allowing to guide us—and to move from obsolete thinking and low-frequency energy into a state that embraces love, kindness, and higher-frequency awareness. This state becomes accessible when we listen to our inner authority, which lives within the heart-center. Fear places a veil over what we can truly hear and see. That's why it's important not to make decisions from a place of fear. Fear does not serve you—or the collective. My intention is to observe what is happening in the world without reacting from fear, but instead from an awakened inner authority. I invite you to come with me on this journey and learn how to tap into your own inner authority. This week on 13: A Taylor Swift Fan Podcast, we're doing something a little different. Due to a winter storm hitting Texas and throwing off recording schedules, Ana hops on the mic for a special solo Swiftie Q&A episode—and it ended up feeling like a warm, one-on-one check-in with the community. After opening up questions on Instagram, Ana answers everything from which Taylor Swift album she'd relive for the first time, to top five albums right now, to which songs she skips (yes, it depends on the mood). She reflects on the magic of hearing Midnights for the first time, revisits beloved eras like Red, Speak Now, and 1989, and shares why The Tortured Poets Department continues to hit differently now that we're stepping into the Showgirl era. Ana also dives into: What newer Swifties may have missed pre-folklore Dream Taylor Swift music videos that never happened Songs she'd love to break down again Favorite non-Taylor artists she's listening to right now Whether live events are coming back (Swifties in the City fans, take note!) This solo bonus is equal parts Swiftie nostalgia, thoughtful reflection, and emotional connection, and it sets the stage perfectly for what's coming next as 13 begins its deep dive into The Life of a Showgirl, starting with Fate of Ophelia. Grab your cardigans, get cozy, and hang out with us—because even when plans change, the Swiftie community always shows up. Stay warm, take care of yourselves, and we'll see you next week. A quick show, to discuss a pulsating week of football, and wish out listeners a most Merry Christmas. This Lions team, are just taking being Lions-y to new extremes, as they find new ways to be unlucky. This is the worst time to do this though, as the lost ground in the chase for the Playoffs. The Seahawks take No.1 in the NFC and the Jags are legit, and Drake Maye is having a second season that draws comparisons I don't want to burden him with.Main Theme - Back Door Brawl by Marc Walloch@TheSnapUK on Twitter and Instagram

Wir sprechen über Midlife-Crisis, Stress ohne Urlaub, Hangover, Mordprozesse, Shitstorms, Kinder, die ausziehen, Safe-Spaces für Humor, Frühlingsenergie und Wintertief, Weltlage-Frust und Hoffnung. They say the sequel is never as good as the first one. When you've had a career like Pete Menefee, it takes two podcasts to tell your story.
