The 117th Apple Cup looms large as the Washington Huskies head across the state to take on the Washington State Cougars. Jedd Fisch's undefeated Huskies were able to enjoy a bye week while the Cougs suffered their first loss of the season in Denton against the North Texas Mean Green. Even so, Jimmy Rogers won't have a hard time getting the most out of his WSU team who will be desperate to retain the Apple Cup Trophy for another year. After a week off of their own, Jack and Luke are back at it with the Mac and Mounger show. The two former (current?) interns grade Washington's 70-10 smack down of UC Davis. Afterwards, they share their top stories to watch in this weekend's showdown. A couple highlights include a quarterback competition in Pullman and a budding Heisman campaign for Jonah Coleman. Next, the duo picks their "Bets to Bark" for the week, each selecting a player on offense and defense to have a standout performance. Hint: Jonah Coleman was selected in this segment. After that, the Betting B1G start of the show begins. It's important to note that Luke is 6-0 on the season. How long can he remain undefeated? Also, don't ask Jack what his record is. Finally, Jack and Luke put a numeric value to their confidence level the Huskies will bring the Apple Cup back home to Seattle. It was not a pretty first game for most of the Div. I football teams and players of interest in South Dakota. But it was a "just win, baby" week for some.No. 3 South Dakota State stopped the "Go Go" offense of No. 15 Sacramento State all night, but the Jackrabbits didn't exactly make chest-thumping offensive waves themselves. How does that translate to a road game at perennial Top 5 powerhouse Montana State, who was pulverized 59-13 at FBS No. 7 Oregon?FCS No. 4 South Dakota threw Iowa State for an early 7-7 loop before the Cyclones blew them away, 55-7. Does that mean doom and gloom for Aidan Bouman and a USD offense that mustered just 34 yards in the second half? Or is ISU perhaps a tornado that will rip through the Big 12 and leave an easy cleanup for the Yotes in FCS play? Both Augustana and the Universtiy of Sioux Falls won nail biters, but in different ways. What are some easy assessments of their returning quarterbacks? And then, there was Jimmy Rogers' Washington State Jackrabbits, who needed a perfectly-executed two-minute drill at home to survive FCS Idaho, with a new coach and offense replacing former SDSU offensive coordinator Jason Eck. What do we make of Jimmy's more-than-blunt postgame remarks? There's also the all-time Jackrabbit Mark Gronowski's less-than-impressive Iowa debut and native son Kalen DeBoer's Alabama debacle at Florida State. How much should we curb our first week spasms? The Minnesota Vikings lift off on Monday night in Chicago. Why does typically pessimistic Matt Zimmer feel like he's boarding a rocket ship? The answers to these questions and more, all over cocktails on an idle Tuesday afternoon at the Gateway Lounge in Sioux Falls as Zim and Happy Hour host John Gaskins wet their football whistles — finally!
Fear is essential! Try out to go beyond your imaginations, rules, moralities and try out something entirely new.Jimmy Rogers, the legendary hedge fund manager has done this again and again… Still, he was the most successful hedge fund manager… Maybe that is why!We have imprisoned ourselves by our assumption, moralities… and can't get what we want… Even we don't know what we want… Life is too short to wait for that magic moment that everything will change in our favor…But what is in our favor? To get rich and successful and to function like a clock or better like the Movie “Clockwork Orange” (Stanley Kubrick) One of the greatest movies! In this movie, they press the people to fit in the society for every price! But we don't need that, we have done it already by ourselves and locked ourselves in a prison and threw away the key…But where is the key… In a madhouse? I read now the roman “Veronika decides to die!” By the famous author Paulo CoelhoVeronika has only a few days to live after her suicide attempt … and she is in a madhouse… She discovers her genius talent as a pianist…She goes beyond her sexual imaginations …She tries out again and again what she never has tried out before…And then she started to enjoy her life!!!!We stop our thinking on the border of our morality…Morality doesn't understand life... because it is a shortcut to rationalize…What is beyond our self-imposed rules? I got as an Atheist from Bhagwan the spiritual name Ghanshyam. The Meaning is: “This is a name for God and to be unconditionally is an answer of God.”So what, I experienced as an Atheist through a deep love with my darling God. We both applied the wild sexual Tantra and through that our heart opened to God…For sure, making love in the right way is the path to God… (Read, “The conference of the birds” by the greatest Sufi Atar) Where is love there is God!I was abused for my wrong writing by my parents as dyslexia and stutterer … I could/can not learn German grammar… And I could not be creative…Nearly all of my German girlfriend hindered me to speak out what I was thinking. When I forced them to stop their bad behavior and separated I became a creative writer and my stuttering stopped !!! Don't let other people stop you, just leave them alone;- I do always so!!!I was abused by my father (he was a great musician) for my inability to make music… Guess, I learned to make music on the Sitar, Keyboard, Tabla and singing! I suffered from incurable diseases and no doctor could heal them, even our so “great doctors” killed me (clinical dead) two times … Today I am totally healthy because I cured my diseases by myself self and I don't trust doctors!A Sufi can keep every rule and break every rule…Because every rule is a veil in front of God … We should go beyond our rules to discover God.When a Phoenix dies he burns himself and a new Phoenix is born. The old Phoenix has to die… until we burn our old ego with all of these rules, assumptions nothing new can happen to us!So you don't need to make suicide to discover what is beyond your imagination…Life can be amazing so why not try out something entirely new? Will Saturday be another story of the "farm kids" from South Dakota being underestimated by a bunch of thoroughbred athletes from California? The Dan Jackson Era and Chase Mason era at South Dakota State opens with a likely sold-out home game against Sacramento State, a 3-9 team from last year with over 50 FBS transfers and a brand new coach that is rated No. 15 in the preseason polls. With so many new starters on each side, it is tough to accurately predict how the game may unfold, but Sioux Falls Live sports editor and decade-long SDSU reporter Matt Zimmer takes a stab with Happy Hour host John Gaskins in a 74-minute chat over cocktails at Gateway Lounge. But Zim pulls from over 20 years of covering South Dakota college football teams who lock horns with talented rosters from talent-rich states like California, while also unveiling some new Jackrabbits FBS transfers you should expect to see and maybe shine on Saturday and all season long. What exactly can we expect, especially from SDSU's new starting quarterback, Chase Mason, who has undeniably supreme physical talent but has not played a full game as a starting signal caller in six years, back to his junior year in high school?Meanwhile, No. 4 South Dakota opens 2025 at FBS No. 22 Iowa State, who impressively finished a 24-21 prize fight win over No. 17 Kansas State in Ireland on Saturday. How much of a factor will jet lag from a trip to Ireland factor in USD's favor, not to mention this being a "sandwich" game for the Cyclones between rivals KSU and Iowa (next week)? What kind of upset threat can USD mount, with its own litany of transfer replacements but also with a guiding light in senior quarterback in Aidan Bouman, a former Cyclone with plenty to prove against his former team and NFL scouts?Plus, a glimpse into the "Washington State Jackrabbits," led by former SDSU coach Jimmy Rogers, who brought his staff and 16 players with him to the Palouse. The Cougars, who play Idaho on national television late Saturday, have shut down practices to the media after reported inner-team practice scuffles.Speaking of former Jacks, quarterback Mark Gronowski is Iowa's "Million Dollar Man" (or $2 Million Man, depending on who you believe). What should we expect of the former Walter Payton Award winner in the stacked Big Ten, and in what way will life be more different and difficult for him compared to the FCS?Then, there's No. 8 Alabama, led by former USF coach Kalen DeBoer, who starts his second season on the road at Florida State. Why should there be reason for the Crimson Tide to improve after their first four-loss season in 17 years? Finally, how much more secure should the Minnesota Vikings feel about their QB2 situation now that they dumped Sam Howell and made room for North Dakota State legend Carson Wentz, who joins his sixth NFL team in six years?
Should the Seahawks be taking a look at a trade for Trey Hendrickson? Ian also dives into the weird schedule Washington State has this year and that it's odd to be playing for essentially nothing. It's hard for Cougar fans to be yearning for 2026 before 2025 even kicks off. Bud Withers, Longtime Sportswriter and Author stops by the studio to discuss the history of the Apple Cup and its questionable future. He believes it's too good to not play into the future, despite the changes. Ian ponders whether the 'rivalry' will continue between UW and WSU. The Mariners lost in ugly fashion again today, 11-2. What was to be one of the strongest rotations down the stretch sees the best pitchers faltering. However, Ian explains the sunshine on the horizon. Jamey Vinnick, Cougfan.com tells Ian why Klay Thompson was over in Pullman this weekend - is there a new partnership on the horizon beyond Klay as an alum? Jamey dives into the roster, many of whom we don't really know. Jimmy Rogers and his staff have a LOT to prove and we're going to see that in the way they operate. It will be even tougher to retain players than Jake Dickert had it. Jamey also thinks Zevi Eckhaus is definitely the most in command of the offense, even thought there's been an open competition at QB. Giovanni Savarese, former Portland Timbers Manager joins Ian to preview tonight's Leagues Match between the Sounders and Puebla. Chris Crawford, My Oh Why! Chris joins Ian to lament the awful road trip we saw from the Mariners. Do we have a Dan Wilson problem? Chris says we don't have a Dan Wilson solution and he's not making the team better. How worried are we about the starting rotation? Plus, we can't believe we're still seeing Dylan Moore on this roster. Finally, we go to the silver linings: Geno, Julio and Dumper. We check in on the texts and crosstalk with Softy!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're thrilled to welcome new Washington State head football coach Jimmy Rogers, who joins the show to share his coaching philosophy, stories from his Arizona upbringing, and why he believes the Cougs have a real shot at the College Football Playoff.Coach Rogers and I sat on stage in front of 400 loyal Cougs, where he echoed a powerful message shared earlier in the evening by Athletics Director Anne McCoy and new university president Dr. Elizabeth Cantwell - this is the Next Chapter for Washington State. No longer just the underdog with a chip on its shoulder, WSU is now a face of the new Pac-12. Alongside Oregon State, Pullman is stepping boldly into this next era - guided by a clear vision and the leadership of Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould. The message? The Cougs can win and will lead in a conference that's bold, aggressive, intentional, and open-minded.I think Cougs everywhere will love hearing from Coach Rogers. He's already instilled his culture and leadership style into the program. And yes, while the team will feature nearly 70 new faces when the season kicks off, don't sleep on this squad. Washington State has a chance to make serious noise in this final transitional year before the Pac-12 returns to a full conference slate in 2026.

Steve Miller sucks! Warning: We are NOT your authority on the breakdown of the matchups of the game!... but we do dive into prop bets and past Super Bowl halftime shows — the good, the bad, and the crappy. Speaking of offensive linemen, the best in state high school history just chose Iowa over Nebraska and Minnesota — why? Then, a dip into the dynamic of best friends and South Dakota football legends Kurtiss Riggs and Kalen DeBoer — and how the latter could really use the former to give Alabama a jolt back into the national title picture. Next, a delve into the most recent news of both Dan Jackson's recruiting efforts and success at SDSU (Semchenko/Kabrera) and good buddy Jimmy Rogers' continued luring of South Dakota talent to Washington State (Schlimgen).
