Zach sits down with Deborah Rozman, Ph.D. and Howard Martin, the married couple who have led HeartMath Institute since its founding in 1991. Zach came in curious after hearing his mentor Terry Real rave about HeartMath at a Relational Life Institute faculty meeting, and he opens the conversation admitting he still does not fully understand what it is or how it works. Howard and Deborah, who are married to each other and have built HeartMath's research and technology together for over three decades, walk him through it from both a science angle and a lived-in-a-marriage angle. The conversation moves from the physiology, heart rate variability, coherence, the connection between the physical and emotional heart, into a story about a couple named Tammy and Raynor who came to Deborah through the Dr. Phil Show on the edge of divorce and, after learning to get into a coherent state individually before talking to each other, fell back in love within a handful of sessions. Deborah also teaches a version of the Quick Coherence technique live on air. Howard, meanwhile, shares the three things he actually practices in his own marriage: looking at himself first instead of blaming Deborah, staying neutral instead of jumping to judgment, and what he calls compassionate latitude, stretching compassion further than feels automatic. What makes this one land is that Howard and Deborah are not just explaining a technology, they are describing how they have stayed married and mostly conflict free for 36 years using it. Zach's own admission, that a bad afternoon of tech problems left him dysregulated for four days, gives the science somewhere real to land. Listeners get both the research behind why nervous system regulation changes how couples fight and a technique they can use in the next argument.Key TakeawaysYour nervous system state, not your communication skills, often determines how a conversation with your partner actually goesGetting yourself into a calm, coherent state before you try to talk about a conflict changes the outcome more than any script or toolA couple on the brink of divorce turned things around by learning to self-regulate individually before communicating with each other at allCompassionate latitude means stretching your compassion further than the point where you normally shut it off, especially with the person closest to youWhen something feels off in a relationship, look at your own contribution first before looking at your partnerNeutral is not passive, it is a highly aware state that has not yet rushed to judge something as good or badYour heart rhythm is picked up by people near you, even without touching, so the state you walk into a room with mattersQuick Coherence, heart-focused breathing paired with a feeling of genuine gratitude, is simple enough to use in the middle of an argumentGuest InfoDeborah Rozman, Ph.D., is President and co-CEO of HeartMath, a behavioral psychologist who helped found the Institute of HeartMath in 1991 and helped develop the emWave and Inner Balance heart rate variability technologies. She co-authored the Transforming book series with Doc Childre.Howard Martin is Executive Vice President, Strategic Development at HeartMath, where he has served as a key spokesperson and executive since helping Doc Childre found the organization in 1991. Quellenverzeichnis Al Khatib, H. K., Harding, S. V., Darzi, J., & Pot, G. K. (2017). Do you remember how last week we were talking about how voidy and purple the Midnight expansion has been? Well, hold on to your shorts, because patch 12.1 has been announced and it's acid green and snaky. We're shook, but especially Liz, who doesn't particularly enjoy snakes, and wishes there was a filter like arachnophobia mode, where all the snakes turned into crabs. There are so many new features announced already, from the new Lairs, which are sort of a new version of World Bosses, all the way to a WoW Discord integration, which we're a little skeptical is all that useful. Also not purple is the Midsummer Fire Festival, which has come to WoW until July. There are a ton of orange rewards to collect, including a very hot new mount. There are also new seasons coming soon to Diablos 3 and 4, and for Diablo 4 this includes a collab with Overwatch, bringing some of those hero skins into Sanctuary. This is just making me wonder when we'll get that Raynor skin for Druids. When the book, The Salt Path, came out in 2018, it quickly became a blockbuster hit. It's the story of a woman named Raynor Winn and her husband, Moth, who has been diagnosed with a terminal neurological disorder. According to the telling, their decision to walk the Salt Path, a 1000 km trek across the south west coast of England, leads to miraculous healing.Against all odds, the walk appeared to reverse symptoms of Moth's terminal illness. The Salt Path was followed up by more books, and in 2024, a Hollywood movie starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. But ultimately, the bestselling memoir may be more fiction than fact. Chloe's investigation uncovered a past allegedly riddled with financial deceit, challenging the story of how Raynor and Moth lost their home, and casts doubt on the miraculous reversal of Moth's terminal illness. She has a plan to get him back into the workforce and see his medical license restored. Raynor has other plans -- finishing off his first wife and the federal prosecutor  who put him behind bars. Will he be able to do so without the second Mrs. Raynor finding out? Also, what of his own adoptive mother, who hates Sally for baffling class reasons? Will Sally come to her senses and see Raynor has deadly intentions ... again? Erik and Justin try to figure out what happened to Fairuza Balk's character. They also try to glean the plot of the original Deadly Intentions. The cast -- which includes Harry Hamlin, Joanna Kerns, Conchata Ferrell, and Balk -- prove to be great even if the script lets them down. Erik tries to determine how much of the film is truly based on actual events. A current year appraisal makes a certain subplot far more troubling than the film intends. Erik suggests first-time filmmakers should make thrillers instead of horror movies and Justin reveals an important truth about The Traitors.

Over 2025, every Friday, the Sky News Daily has been profiling a figure in the news – those who are making headlines, creating conversations. Tune in as the Christmas fun stays strong on 2CC! For this fourth episode of December, Karyn Raynor (Chick-Lit) is jumping back into their guest chair to unpack Black Christmas, the 2006 remake of the 1974 Christmas slasher horror movie in which a house full of sorority sisters face off against a stalker who terrorizes them with unnerving prank phone calls and a thirst for murder. The differences and similarities between this remake and its OG predecessor, the oddness of the sex tape subplot, grief for Michelle Trachtenberg, and appreciation for the campy horror of the Final Destination series emerge as a few of the talking points for this episode.Written and directed by Glen Morgan, Black Christmas (2006) stars Katie Cassidy, Kristen Cloke, Michelle Trachtenberg, Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lacey Chabert, Andrea Martin, Robert Mann, Oliver Hudson, Karin Konoval, Cainan Wiebe, Jessica Harmon, Leela Savasta, Kathleen Kole, Howard Siegel, Peter Wilds, and Juan Riedinger.Spoilers start at 29:00Create your podcast today! #madeonzencastrHere's how you can learn more about Palestine and IsraelHere's how you can keep up-to-date on this genocideHere's how you can send eSIM cards to Palestinians in order to help them stay connected onlineGood Word:• Karen: The Devil You Know with Sarah Marshall• Arthur: A Christmas StoryReach out at email2centscritic@yahoo.com if you want to recommend things to watch and read, share anecdotes, or just say hello!Be sure to subscribe, rate, and review on iTunes or any of your preferred podcasting platforms!Follow Arthur on Twitter, Goodpods, StoryGraph, Letterboxd, and TikTok: @arthur_ant18Follow Arthur on Bluesky: @arthur-ant18Follow the podcast on Twitter: @two_centscriticFollow the podcast on Instagram: @twocentscriticpodFollow Arthur on GoodreadsCheck out 2 Cents Critic Linktree

Financial Stress, AI Anxiety, and the New Work Mindset: Highlights from the Latest Future of Money Report with Lilah Raynor of Logica Research

Welcome back to Intellicast! On today's episode, Brian is joined by Lilah Raynor, CEO of Logica Research, to break down the newest edition of their Future of Money report. The report is one of the most consistent and revealing longitudinal studies on how Americans think about money, work, and the economy. This semi-annual study, which has been running since 2017, offers an in-depth look at the financial mindset of U.S. consumers, and this wave highlights some of the clearest shifts in sentiment to date. Kicking off the episode, Brian and Lilah discuss Americans' overall mood of the economy. According to the latest data, half of Americans believe the economy is worse than it was six months ago, and a third expect it to get worse over the next year. Even among those who describe themselves as financially stable, financial stress remains high, with many feeling stretched thin by rising costs, housing pressures, and inconsistent income trends. The conversation then shifts to how Americans are adjusting. Lilah shares that this wave shows a notable uptick in emergency savings behaviors. At the same time, people are making trade-offs in discretionary spending, cutting back on dining, entertainment, and nonessential purchases while prioritizing everyday needs. Brian and Lilah also explore how the Future of Money report offers a window into the changing work mindset. Job movement intent has increased compared to the spring wave, and more people are open to switching jobs if they believe they can improve their stability or flexibility. Some of this is linked to economic pressure, but a growing portion is connected to technology-driven job anxiety, particularly for younger generations. That leads directly into one of the most fascinating sections of the report: AI at work. This wave shows that over half of Americans are now using AI tools in the workplace, with ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot topping the list. Lilah explains that while AI adoption is increasing, it's also creating uncertainty for those whose roles involve repetitive or administrative tasks. Younger workers, in particular, feel that AI is reshaping the path for entry-level opportunities. The episode also touches on the report's findings around saving, spending, and consumer behaviors across demographics. Lilah highlights differences across generations, noting that younger consumers are balancing optimism with caution, while older generations are more skeptical about the economic outlook but often feel more financially prepared. Together, these segments paint a complex picture of today's financial mindset — one shaped equally by economic strain, evolving technology, and long-term uncertainty. In the final segment, Brian and Lilah reflect on why long-running studies like the Future of Money matter. With nearly a decade of continuous data, the report helps brands, financial institutions, and researchers understand not just where consumers are today, but how and why their behaviors are changing over time. Imagine standing at the threshold of your home, bailiffs hammering at the door, knowing that once you step outside you'll be homeless. On top of that, your husband has just been diagnosed with an incurable neurodegenerative disease. In one single moment, you're forced to wave goodbye to a life you spent 20 years building while also losing hope for everything that might have come next. For Raynor Winn, it was in this moment of complete despair and panic, that an idea formed after she glanced down and saw a book among the packing boxes. It was about a man who had walked the South West Coast Path with his dog: "We could just fill a rucksack, follow a line on a map and just walk," Raynor thought. So, with nothing but two rucksacks on their back, a tent, and the South West Coast Path as their compass, Raynor and her husband Moth began walking.630 miles…Navigating a path with an ascent equivalent to climbing Everest nearly four times. It's a story so extraordinary, Penguin snapped it up. And it's since become a best-selling book and, more recently, a feature film starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. Why you should tune inWe all have moments when life derails our plans, when everything feels broken and our dreams seem lost to time and circumstance. What you'll walk away with: Why “calories” are just energy—and why mindset around them matters The law of thermodynamics: no one gets around it How untracked changes in daily movement stall fat loss Why tracking isn't about judgment—it's data to guide your goals What's really behind midlife weight gain (and it's not your hormones) Cut through the confusion. If weight loss has felt impossible lately, this might be the missing piece.   Get Weekly Health Tips:  thrivehealthcoachllc.com Let's Connect:@‌ashleythrivehealthcoach or via email: ashley@thrivehealthcoachingllc.com Podcast Produced by Virtually You!
