In this episode, Pastor Dom teaches us the importance of knowing who you are and who you belong to. John 1:1212 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:John 8:4444 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.John 8:4444 You are of your father the devil,…John 8:41You do the deeds of your father.”John 8: 47 He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”John 1:1212 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:1 John 3:13 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.2 Corinthians 5:1717 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.Psalm 103:12 12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.Galatians 4:77 Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.Galatians 3:1313 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law,John 16:3333 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In today's sermon, Pastor Dom continues his sermon on belief. Sometimes, we will pick and choose what to believe in the Bible. Often people in bondage live in a state of denial about their situation. Some of us look free, but we are not truly free. The story of Lazarus illustrates this idea. When Jesus called Lazarus out of the grave, Lazarus had to be loosed from burial wrappings. He was alive but still bound. Lazarus was bound because he had died. We are bound because of things in our lives. Pride, hate, jealousy, and bad choices tie us up and restrict us from freedom. In the old testament, God provided for the year of Jubilee, where all debts would be forgiven. It was a fresh start where every man could return to his possessions. Isaiah speaks of the acceptable year of the lord that ties back to the concept of jubilee when he proclaims that we can have life and have it more abundantly. Jesus quoted this scripture from Isiah when he spoke in the temple as a young boy. The difference is that Jesus removed any time constraints when He said those words. The liberty and freedom of jubilee are available to us every day.

The Christian life is the expression of our personal love relationship with the Lord. The spiritual disciplines are for the purpose of drawing closer to God, and deepening our relationship with Him, and thereby growing spiritually. Derek shares how to introduce a new believer to the life of a disciple of Jesus, based on God's love and grace to them. It's all about loving God based on His amazing love for us, and this includes spending time with Him in the Bible and Prayer. Our love for God will also cause us to want to please and glorify Him in the way we life our life. Derek points out the 2 opposite ditches of indiscipline and legalism. When we love God we give Him our heart, and this will be naturally expressed in a disciplined life of seeking God, and obeying His revealed will.

Knowing and enjoying God in intimate communion. Before God calls us o a mission, He first calls us to communion
We are starting a new podcast series this week called: Dysfunctional Family Tree. We tend to look at all the highlights of the family tree and want to leave out all of the lowlights. God's family tree is filled with imperfect people. This shouldn't scare us but instead give us great hope that we too can be apart of an imperfect family, with a perfect God. The music on the podcast is from John Nugent. John is a Chicagoland area musician who has been a real blessing to Tabor Church. Support the show (http://taborchicago.org/give/)

The Bible is not simply words about God; it is the Word of God. What are you trusting in?
In this episode of "In the Word, On the Go," best-selling author Deborah Harrell (https://give.serge.org/p-120-deborah-harrell.aspx), discusses John 1:12 and what it means to be heirs and children of God. Deborah says, "What does your struggle look like through the lens of being a child of the King? I am a loved child of the living God. He always moves toward me in love." "In the Word, On the Go" is sponsored by the Christian Standard Bible (https://csbible.com/). Special Guest: Deborah Harrell.
A brief discussion of church finances in America. Marriage Money and Finances, continued... A discussion of racial divide and gender issues. Don't be confused about who you are or God's purpose for you. Hod mad you who you are.
Part one of a series on Marriage, Money and Family Matters. Even if you are single you are still part of a family. The family is the basic unit of society. Bad marriages make bad families which make bad churches which don't help the world. Good marriages make good families which make good churches which can change a city or a country or the world. There is a permanence of family. God Himself is a family. You look like God! John 1:12 Genesis 1:27
