Mark Winterbottom is one of Australia's most successful Supercars drivers, but his success didn't come easy. Growing up with a mother battling cancer and struggling to make ends meet, a raffle ticket changed the course of his career. Winning a mini-bike as a kid fuelled his passion for motorsport, which saw him move into a successful karting career and formula racing. His path to glory at Mount Panorama wasn't quick or easy, but for the man affectionately known as 'Frosty', his grit and determination finally saw him take out the Bathurst 1000 in 2013. In this episode, Mark details the struggles he faced growing up, how he turned trauma and weakness into fuel for success, and how he never took no for an answer. Duty to one's family and to one's heart is on the line as final declarations of intent and love are made. A letter slipped covertly into a palm features a renewed declaration of constant, undying love. Air is cleared and the pride that kept lovers apart is thrown away; both parties feel that in finding their way to each other, they are happier than they deserve. Lady Russell comes to terms with Anne choosing for herself whilst Elizabeth's remains on the marriage market. Mrs Clay's designs on Sir Walter are foiled, yet both she and Mr Elliot may still get all they desire, just not at the expense of another's happiness. Captain Wentworth seeks to assist Mrs Smith in regaining much of what her husband had been tricked out of, and she and Anne remain fast friends. Our narrator concludes how love and honour will always win the day, remarking on the virtues of the Naval profession. The implications of Australia severing ties with Iran are potentially serious. The Iranian ambassador Ahmad Sadeghi has been given seven days to leave after ASIO identified Iran as being behind at least two of the anti-Semitic attacks seen in Australia since October 7, 2023. Dr Ali Mamouri speaks to Andrew about the implications of the move by the Australian government.ANDIn 2000, at a secret meeting in the Vatican, an Australian bishop warned a deluge would soon overwhelm the Catholic Church. The sex abuse crisis would become the greatest challenge to the authority and reputation of the Vatican since the Protestant Reformation almost 500 years earlier. But this warning went largely unheeded. It's another revelation in the new book, Jesus Wept: Seven Popes and the Battle for the Soul of the Catholic Church, by Philip Shenon. In part 2 of this interview, we look at how the scandal enveloped three popes (but we begin with another controversy for then Pope John Paul II). In this special 100th episode of Head Game, Ant speaks with Australian Army veteran Curtis McGrath. Curtis lost both his legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan, and being his teams medic, directed his own lifesaving care as he lay bleeding in the desert. As he was airlifted out for treatment, he joked with his unit that he'd soon be at the Paralympics. Within months Curtis was trialling sports to get into, eventually settling on Para-canoe. Within four years, he was an international champion, winning Gold at three Paralympic Games and winning titles all over the world. In his final year of high school, Jake Bailey thought a persistent toothache was caused by his wisdom teeth. But as his condition deteriorated, further tests revealed the horrific truth. An aggressive form of cancer was infiltrating his body, and doctors told Jake that without treatment, he'd have as little as two weeks left to live. His courageous end-of-school-year speech went viral and his story captivated his home nation of New Zealand. Pete Murray has been a fixture of the Australian music scene for two decades. With three #1 albums and multiple hit singles under his belt, Pete this year launched his biggest tour to date - with nearly 60 shows across Australia and New Zealand. Initially planning a career in rugby union, a missed call and a string of injuries ended his sporting dreams. The Catholic Church is going digital in a big way, a legacy of Pope Francis, who knew the power of social media. This week, the Vatican's been hosting more than one thousand online influencers and digital natives from all over the world at its Jubilee for Digital Missionaries and Catholic Influencers. One of them is Father ROB GALEA, a priest from Victoria, a singer with eight albums, and an influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers. As the Vatican seeks to harness social media to spread its message, others are warning that artificial intelligence poses a huge challenge to all religion. Could AI even be a rival to faith, projecting itself as a source of wisdom that's neither human nor divine? Professor BETH SINGLER of the University of Zurich is the author of the new book, Religion and Artificial Intelligence.GUESTS:Fr Rob Galea is an ordained Catholic Priest and is currently serving in Sandhurst Diocese, VictoriaProfessor Beth Singler - Assistant Professor in Digital Religions at the University of ZurichFather Patrick Ryan, the rogue IRA spy priest died this week aged 94. From a young age, Cheng Lei had dreamed of becoming a journalist. After ditching a career in finance, her dreams came true when she was hired as a business journalist in China. But that dream turned into a nightmare in 2020 when Lei was arrested by Chinese authorities and accused of sharing state secrets. Hidden away in isolation and denied due process, it would be more than 1,000 days before she would see her kids or family again. In this episode of Head Game, journalist and author Cheng Lei reveals to Ant Middleton what it's really like inside China's prison system, and how she kept her self mentally resilient in conditions designed to break her down. 3 different scenarios for you today to help us figure out who is the asshole?! First up, Brooke.... Taking a seat at an event which someone was "apparently" saving for someone else, but there was no jackets or bags on the seats, and NO seating allocation? Secondly, a case of forbidden fruit when it comes to a friend falling for another! Lastly, someone is NOT happy with a coffee date during the day - wants to be wined a dined a little further... Uncle Bernie parked his car alongside the dunes behind the rock fishing beach. Nursing a bucket in the back seat, Leo had vomited several times during the drive, and the last bumpy section on the off-road track leading to the beach hadn't helped. In 2017 Matt Caldwell, better known to music fans as 360, was riding high on the success of his third top five Australian album. On the outside, he had the fame, the money and the success he'd always wanted. But deep inside, the people pleaser in him was deeply insecure. Chasing that euphoria of success, he'd turned to drugs. Just two years later, Matt's addiction would result in him collapsing from an overdose during his biggest tour to date, forcing its cancellation. In this episode of Head Game, 360's candid conversation about how addiction gripped him for so many years, how rehab had little effect on him and what finally turned his life around. Anne is visited by the man Mrs Smith revealed as the source of her husband's demise and determines that she can no longer entertain his company. Her sister, Mary and her husband Charles arrive for a surprise visit and the impending marriage of friends, a true love match, is admired, particularly the support of the parents in promoting happiness over personal ambition.
