Welcome to our podcast where we discuss and deliberate over memoirs and biographies found in thrift shops. This is a great way to do things as we are not choosing who to read about. We may not be fans of the person, we may never have heard of the person and we never know who we are going to find next...There are only 2 rules to this podcast. The book has to be found in a thrift shop and we are not allowed to talk about the book until we press record, which is sometimes agonising. We have lots of episodes coming up so if you find yourself enjoying our podcast, please be sure to subscribe to be among the first to hear about each episode.

Huge shock in the Australian Comedy world this week with one of the biggest management companies declaring bankruptcy, leaving dozens of artists without representation heading into the 2025 festival season. Also a bunch of comedians have lost tens, or in some cases HUNDREDS, of thousands of dollars. In reflecting on what is catastrophic news for so many of my friends, I'm reminded of my own experiences with management. I think it's tempting as an artist to see management as someone who will take care of the business side of everything and allow us to do the work we want. That's the idea we are sold, and that's what we all hope for, because we aren't the kind of people who are confident in the world of business. But no one really has any more of a clue than we do about how to market our work, and if any of us actually wants to make a career out of doing this, the only way to make that happen is to figure out for ourselves what it is that we do and why people might pay money to see it. That's not to say that managers are useless, just that whatever it is that they can do, we can do it as well, and we probably don't need to be giving anyone 30% of our income to do it for us. Moreover, it is so important that we think about these questions ourselves, because if we want to keep pursuing our art and growing as artists, we need to eventually take the leap and become professional. On Sunday I went to watch a wonderful amateur choir and orchestra perform Beethoven, closing with the 9th Symphony, 'Ode To Joy'. I was reminded that Beethoven's incredibly difficult orchestral parts were one of the things that led to the development of professional orchestras, because people needed to be paid to practice so they could have the time to actually play his insane music! I feel like that's where I am as a comedian - I have reached a ceiling of how good I can get with the resources that I have, and I need to find an audience and start making money from this if I want to reach that next level.

Goodnews Listerooni! Happy New Year and happy new ears! It's Nan here, and I hope that you all enjoy listening to our special "Who Dealt It" True Crime series. I know that Rich and Matt had a fun time out in Dunedoo investigating. I, myself, am yet to finish all the episodes (#busynanlife), but I am 1000% sure that it was NOT the Nan. Everybody knows, nans are trustworthy, reliable, never lie and are all good at backflips - FACT! In this episode of the LOLcast, Matt takes a trip back to school, there is a full-on Danana Drama, and Rich tells some jokes that he's written. In more distressing news, Richard's Poetry Corner is back, so do with that what you will. We got some brilliant suggestions for podcast sponsors—I'm looking at you, Taco Smell—but our good friends at Apples will be keeping the pancakes flipping for a few more weeks. Like so many people, we're devastated by the sudden death of comedian Cal Wilson. We're paying tribute to Cal, who was a fixture on Australian TV and beloved in the comedy community and beyond. Drag royalty Kween Kong stops by to talk about how life has changed since being a finalist on the second [and best] season of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, including the surreal experience of being nominated for a Logie. And The Real Housewives of Sydney is back after a six-year hiatus with a cast of housewives who were … born with breasts?? If you're curious, confused and slightly horrified, you've come to the right place.

Alternative title: The dolls are opiates. And sometimes meth.Claire and Alex (AKA Eve Dangerfield) are back to discuss the book Alex's mum tried to throw away in the late 2000s, Valley of the Dolls! Jacqueline Susann... really did something with this one. The girls trace Susann's insights into 1940s Hollywood which was full of pills, backstabbing, homophobic slurs in the workplace, and the realization that love is surely impossible but a certain amount of doctors will always have shady morals. Also, social climbing is simp behavior and is never looked on favorably by anyone.Follow Alex/Eve on Instagram @evedangerfieldFollow the podcast @how.novel.podcast

Our April Double Feature begins with this Aussie bouquet-tossin' gem that was hand-picked by Jennifer Logan, the political activist, artist, and wife of Alex, one-third of your hosts here at the NeverEnding Movie Marathon. With Matt off making a film with his wife, Alex and Rocco are inviting their significant others on the pod to gush about the movies that they love! Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths explode fully-formed from this film onto the world stage, thanks in part to the equally funny and heart-wrenching script that came directly from the life of writer/director PJ Hogan. Plus, all those ABBA songs really clinched it. Today, we say Hello and Goodbye to Porpoise Spit, Tim Sims, and Chook for 'Muriel's Wedding!'The NeverEnding Movie Marathon is a weekly podcastic celebration of cinema.
