Women in creative leadership roles have been leaving adland. The IPA Census reported a decline in both of the last two years, down from 30% in 2022 to 25.6% in 2024. On top of this, the Census reported a widening pay gap, increasing to almost 20% in 2024.This episode welcomes Laura Jordan Bambach to the studio, founder and chief creative officer of female founded Uncharted. Alongside editor Maisie McCabe and deputy creativity and culture editor Charlotte Rawlings, they discuss why it's got worse, if there was any improvement seen in the first place and what needs to be done to amend the issue.Jordan Bambach, who launched The Great British Diversity Experiment nine years ago, explained that when agencies feel under pressure from economic and other external storms, they return to "muscle memory", and rely on behaviours of the past. The industry needs to reframe what it is to be a successful creative leader and adjust perceptions, she said. It was born of a simple yet fantastic question during a Creative Social event in 2010; 50 Creative leaders were deep in the Marais, huddled around the legendary Jim Haynes, who’s been holding dinner parties at his modest Parisian atelier for the past 35 years. This man is wise. Wise when it comes to people – he’s hosted over 100,000 guests over the years. People he didn’t know. The dinner parties are open to everyone. When asked ‘What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?’ Jim responded ‘If you do something for someone forget it immediately. If someone does something nice for you, never forget it.’In this series Daniele Fiandaca, co-founder of Utopia and Creative Social and co-editor of Creative Superpowers: Equip yourself for the Age of Creativity, will be asking some of the most interesting creatives in the world what the best piece of advice they have ever been given and how it has impacted their careers. Irish writer and "craictivist", The Don, commences her countdown of her top 20 picks from the 144 episodes of A Pint With Seaniebee over the past four years. (A perfect starting point for those who want to start exploring the series). THE DON: Laura's interview should be listened to by men to gain valuable insight into some of the things that are difficult for women in the workplace; but also female listeners need to ask themselves which career-woman they are: "do you hold the ladder for women coming up behind you, or do you pull it up after you?" ******************************************** Laura Jordan-Bambach has a pint with Seaniebee Former head of The D&AD, and labeled a “Digital female icon” by The Guardian, Laura Jordan-Bambach's legacy is likely to be less about titles and more about her drive to effect change by DOING, rather than just talking about it. Apart from founding Mr President, one of the UK's most progressive advertising agencies, Laura has also spent most of her life fighting for women in the notoriously patriarchal and misogynistic ad industry. In 2007, she helped set up the SheSays mentoring programme (now 40,000 strong and about to launch in Afghanistan), that encourages women to pursue careers in advertising and design. She is also a founder of the "Cannt Festival", a more practical and grounded version of Cannes. We talk Gillette, Petersen, the current state of feminism and ideas on how we might get out of this looming Climate Catastrophe, which current predictions suggest may be upon us by the end of the next decade. Today’s guest is Alessandra Lariu. Ale is an advertising industry veteran, and consultant who's worked in creative direction, communications, strategy, and coding for nearly two decades at this point, in the UK and US. She's also the co-founder of SheSays, the world's largest network for women in the creative professions. Since setting it up with co-founder Laura Jordan Bambach 12 years ago, the network has grown to over 50,000 members in more cities than we can count, and it shows no signs of slowing. So we talk a lot about that, about the difference between a creative network and a creative community, and about how you develop shared values and trust with remote partners — which is something Ale’s done quite a lot of, in SheSays and in her professional life.

Our guest on the podcast this week is Laura Jordan-Bambach, chief creative officer of Mr.President, the independent agency she co-founded in 2013. We caught up with her at the company’s headquarters in Soho on February 8th, where she spoke to us about learning from failure, being tenacious and why she thinks advertising is a superpower. Starting out as a student of Fine Arts in Sydney, Australia, Laura’s career journey has been a somewhat unconventional one – from discovering digital art and setting up her own business while studying, to helping advertising agencies to get online at a time when the internet was still in its infancy. Acquiring skills in both advertising and design has helped propel her from one job role to the next. Through rewarding and challenging experiences, her journey eventually led her to take up the position of D&AD’s president, before co-founding Mr. President in 2013. In the midst of preparing for a pitch, we caught up with Laura as she reflected on her journey so far, filled us in on life at Mr.President and talked us through a recent project for Stonewall. ...
