I think I've also been a frustrated musical artist of some kind: I wanted to engineer and produce and have trained on various DAWs. My musicianship has been limited though - I can't really sing and I'm a rudimentary keyboard player - but I can write and originally trained as a journalist after leaving school.  So I've been putting whatever writing skills I may possess to the test by writing lyrics and using them as prompts for AI music with some fascinating results. In fact I've spent the past month or so working on songs. At the time of writing I have an album of material completed, with the first track - a single - scheduled for release on 29th August on all the major platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. Another single is scheduled to come out about a month later with the album pencilled for release on Friday 10th October. One of the surprises for me was the style of music I've ended up creating - not my usual dance music at all. The album does contain tracks that will get you moving or set your toes tapping, but there's an equal number of singer/songwriter tracks that I hope are more contemplative. The whole song writing process was incredibly cathartic, in fact I'd go so far as to say, it was like therapy.  I don't have my artist page live on Spotify yet, but as soon as it is, and there's a pre-release link, I will include it here. It's a scary thing sharing in song all your previously private thoughts and experiences, so please don't be too harsh on me. And as importantly, why not have a go yourself.  I hope you enjoy it. Il racconto di questo episodio di Altre Indagini parte da Metanopoli, il quartiere alle porte di Milano sognato e costruito da Enrico Mattei negli anni Cinquanta per i dipendenti della sua azienda, l'Eni, l'azienda energetica (l'acronimo sta per Ente nazionale idrocarburi) di cui era diventato presidente. E termina poco lontano, nella campagna di Bascapè, un paese della provincia di Pavia, dove nel tardo pomeriggio del 27 ottobre 1962 cade l'aereo che trasporta Enrico Mattei. È un incidente, viene dichiarato dopo le prime sbrigative indagini. È un omicidio, decreta alla fine di una seconda indagine il sostituto procuratore Vincenzo Calia, che non riesce però ad arrivare a un indagato: le prove sono state cancellate e non sono più recuperabili. Quella raccontata da Stefano Nazzi e Giulia Balducci è una storia in cui compaiono la mafia, quella italiana e quella italo americana, e le grandi aziende petrolifere americane e inglesi (le cosiddette “sette sorelle”). Compaiono ex partigiani ed ex fascisti. E i dirigenti dell'Eni, prima stretti alleati di Mattei e che dopo iniziarono a contrastarlo. E poi Tommaso Buscetta, uno dei primi e forse il più famoso collaboratore di giustizia di Cosa Nostra. E c'entra anche la sparizione di un giornalista palermitano, Mauro De Mauro, scomparso il 16 settembre 1970 mentre si stava occupando proprio dell'incidente di Bascapè. Al momento della sua morte Enrico Mattei è l'italiano più famoso all'estero: è presidente di un'azienda importantissima e molto potente, ha fondato un quartiere che è praticamente una cittadina, Metanopoli, e un giornale, il Giorno. Grazie a lui arrivano in Italia le stazioni di servizio per come le conosciamo e i motel. Mattei compare su tutte le riviste, fotografato con la moglie, la ballerina austriaca Greta Paulas. Contemporaneamente gli vengono attribuite, con molta fantasia, storie con molte donne famose. Ma Enrico Mattei è anche quello che finanzia i partiti con fondi neri (sono sue le parole «per me i partiti sono come taxi: ci salgo, li pago e poi scendo»), applica metodi discutibili per costruire gasdotti in breve tempo ed elabora strategie piuttosto creative per assicurarsi un accordo per il petrolio iraniano.
