On Episode 1 of Season 4 of the Healthcare Reimagined podcast, I spoke with Manav Sevak. Manav is the founder and CEO of Memora Health, which helps healthcare organizations digitize and automate care journeys, and make complex care delivery simple for patients and clinicians to navigate. Manav's journey to building Memora health began with a personal story - a close friend with a chronic diagnosis, who despite being young and tech savvy, found it difficult to navigate his care. There are three major challenges that Memora addresses: Digitizing clinical workflows, saving providers time by utilizing automation, and allowing patients to use text messaging to get the information they need about their condition. By looking at the things that happen for every patient, every time, in the course of a particular care episode, Memora has been able to use technology to automate and even standardize certain follow-up procedures. That has cut down on inbox messages and phone calls, and even eliminated them all together. Research out of Dartmouth suggests that people forget up to 80% of what they've heard from their healthcare professional. As a result, getting critical information to patients in a digestible format is crucial, and text messaging has proven itself to be a very reliable format for Memora. The best course of care will vary based on a given patient's condition and their response to treatment. However, according to Manav, the way patients get reminded to manage their medications, come to appointments, and the way that symptom management are done, should look very similar across clinical areas. What Memora is aiming to build is a best in class process for conveying information to patients and receiving that information back from them. Memora is also able to leverage its digital approach to ensure adherence to ever-changing guidelines. When the protocols for screening patients for mental health conditions during the prenatal period changed, Memora was immediately able to update their postpartum care program across different care sites to reflect best practices. Manav and I went on to discuss the challenges of EHR integration for digital health startups, and the challenge of building technology before Memora had access to data from pilot customers. We closed by exploring what percentage of the back and forth between care teams and patients it might be possible to automate in the future, and the tradeoff for early stage founders between staying at a high level and diving into the weeds. You can learn more about Memora Health on their website.
The 20-30% where a provider is actually making a clinical decision is what makes or breaks the outcome but the problem is that 100% of that work is manually driven, Memora Health cofounder and CEO Manav Sevak explains. In this episode of the Vanguards of Health Care podcast, Sevak joins BI analyst Jonathan Palmer for a deep dive into how Memora helps optimize care delivery and the patient experience against a backdrop where providers and payors are searching for alignment in complex businesses. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this episode, we are joined by Manav Sevak, CEO at Memora Health to discuss his journey & experience co-founding Memora Health right out of college, the importance for founders to find what drives them & cultivate that passion, and more.
There is a lot of conversation about using AI in healthcare—let's put in our two cents! In this episode, we have Matt Troup, PC-A, Medical Director at Memora Health, sharing how using conversational AI in healthcare can improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden on clinical teams. Through examples of successful chatbot implementations in post-operative care and postpartum care, patient engagement has been significantly improved. However, a warning is issued regarding the importance of establishing clear guidelines when questions need to be escalated, to avoid the AI from practicing medicine.Tune in to this episode about how AI is enhancing human work and not replacing it!

In the past few years, as care more and more moved outside the traditional walls of the hospital, “the one thing that was abundantly clear was that there really was no good underlying technology or infrastructure to manage and support patients in that way.” So observed Manav Sevak, one of the venture entrepreneurs on today's program. He has joined forces with our other featured guest, Melissa Cohen of Northshore Edward-Elmhurst, to address, in her words, “the importance of digital health and how it could impact the stakeholders across the entire healthcare ecosystem.” Their partnership to support the move of care to the home is the focus of this podcast episode. Dr. Jamie Colbert is the Senior Vice President of Care Delivery at Memora Health, a technology company automating manual tasks and administrative functions that take up so much time for healthcare providers. It is creating an environment that promotes interoperability with existing electronic medical record systems and other sources of patient data to improve patient care and provide guidance for patients to self-manage their complex conditions. Jamie explains, "In terms of the support that patients are receiving, Memora is really helping to provide a lot of additional support that you just couldn't get from having to rely on manual phone calls from your provider's office because providers just don't have the time. The providers are overwhelmed, and they're trying to get through their day and just see the patients that are in front of them in the office. But with Memora, you can automate a lot of those check-ins and support such that you, as a provider team, know that your patients are still well cared for and supported. You don't have to worry about carving out the time during your day to make those phone calls and check in and see how those patients are doing." "And only those patient questions and symptoms that are concerning would be the ones that would actually go directly to the provider and still require the provider to then message the patient themselves. What we've seen is that it's generally, anywhere from 50% to two-thirds of the patient messages and questions that are coming in today can be safely handled through Memora's AI. And that's a significant burden that's being lifted from providers. When they get home at the end of the day, they're not spending nearly as much time going through all of those messages because Memora was able to answer many of those messages for them." @MemoraHealth @jcolbertMD #MemoraHealth #CareDelivery #DigitalHealth memorahealth.com Download the transcript here

In episode forty-nine, we speak with Manav Sevak the Co-Founder & CEO at Memora Health about clinical workflow automation, how they help healthcare systems monitor and manage their patients outside the walls of the clinic, and his love of reading!
There is a lot of attention being paid to the patient experience, and rightly so. However, we haven't paid enough attention to our clinicians and caregivers and what they need to guide our patients thru that experience. Providers struggle to keep up with the increased touchpoints and questions without the proper tools. That increases stress and deepens the crisis of burnout amongst clinicians. Worse yet, it leads to unanswered questions and missed opportunities to meet our patients where they are. It turns out that doing this job halfway is worse than not doing it at all. On this episode, we talk with Omar Nagji, Chief Commercial Officer at Memora Health, about how to close the gap and provide clinicians with the tools and support they need. Memora Health was founded on the idea that you must support the workforce in any attempt to improve the patient experience. Omar walks us through their approach to doing just that. This includes digitizing care journeys, deploying chatbots to automate the “easy stuff”, and escalating to clinicians at the right time. Listen in to hear best practices on digitizing patient journeys, reducing friction in communication between patients and providers, and how to tie it all together in a meaningful way.
