Even going to Jaipur—it was like one of those bumpy roads that we went on yesterday, but for the whole way. Now it's nicer, but it still takes an extra eight hours to go to Karaulī. But going to see Madana-mohana there is a heartfelt experience—to see the devotees and how they love that Deity. Madana-mohana represents attraction to the spiritual world; this is sambandha-jñāna. In many philosophical systems, there is no conception of attraction. There is only renunciation. Dry renunciation of the material world means: "Because I've been victimized again and again by my senses and by the sense objects, I decide that I will cultivate detachment and become free from the tyranny of my senses." Some take it a step further and they say, "Let me have no senses. Let me become nothing." In the concept of Nirvāṇa, as given by some, there is a candle flame; if you blow it out, then there is no candle flame. The idea is that the experience we're having now in this world—that I'm conscious, I'm aware, I love, I hate, I have emotions—is all the process of material nature. It's happenstance. And by my meditation, I'll come to a point of realizing that I'm not that awareness. I'm not anything. I'm not part of the process; I'm not the process; there is no process. There isn't anything, and I'll achieve nothingness. But even that nomenclature is the problem. Consciousness is something you cannot deny, because as soon as you deny, it is an act of consciousness. Therefore, Kṛṣṇa in the Bhagavad-gītā says (BG 3.5): na hi kaścit kṣaṇam api jātu tiṣṭhaty akarma-kṛt kāryate hy avaśaḥ karma sarvaḥ prakṛti-jair guṇaiḥ The soul is always active. We want something, and especially, we want love. So Madana-mohana brings the clarion call to us: "I am your beloved. Here, you can become attracted, and you don't have to fear the loss of our relationship." Prabhupāda tells about how, when we approach Kṛṣṇa—in Deity worship, the arcana process—it is so sweet and personal that sometimes the servitor installs the Deity and worships in such a heartfelt way that the relationship is so "thick." He mentions in a purport that after that servitor passes away, the Deity performs the piṇḍa ceremony for His servitor out of love for the servant. So, when we come to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, we are not left with nothing, or we are not asked to recede into the void. As we say, "namas te sārasvate deve gaura-vāṇī-pracāriṇe"—we are hearing Gaura-vāṇī—"nirviśeṣa-śūnyavādi-pāścātya-deśa-tāriṇe." Śrīla Prabhupāda relieved us of that Where's the entry place? It's Madana-mohana. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------
Life Experience Narration
At Pritam Man Mohana, ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਨ ਮੋਹਨਾ (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ang 542 Sabad 1431)
"Thank Your Glucose Teacher" Rama Mohana Rao has been blessed to serve in the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School in Prasanthi Nilayam for more than four decades. In fact, he was personally chosen by Swami to be part of this institution right from its inception. Also, his job interview was extraordinary because Bhagawan Himself did that for him! In this Satsang, this devoted servitor of the Lord goes down memory lane to share some of those life-changing moments of this long association with Bhagawan. Once he got the opportunity to serve, he wanted to give it his all and how Bhagawan acknowledged and rewarded that spirit of dedication is a lovely inspiration for all of us which he happily recalls.

For over four decades, Sri Rama Mohana Rao dedicated himself to the education mission of Bhagawan serving as a teacher in the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School, Prasanthi Nilayam, having been personally picked by Swami to join this institution right from its inception. As he cherishes every moment of opportunity to serve that came his way, he also feels extremely grateful for the unexpected and untold blessings that Swami showered on him, some overtly and some covertly. In this episode of OMS, he recounts one such powerful tale that was indeed too incredible to be true.

In this episode of the Epigenetics Podcast, we talked with Maria Gambetta from the University of Lausanne about her work on the function of insulators in 3D genome folding. Maria Gambetta focuses on investigating 3D contact dynamics between enhancers and promoters, providing insights into tissue-specific gene activation. The team used capture-C to analyze dynamic looping events, emphasizing the significance of accessible chromatin peaks in enhancer-promoter interactions. Furthermore, they focused on gene insulation and CTCF's role in forming topologically associating domains in Drosophila. Hi-C analysis on CTCF mutants revealed the conservation of TAD boundary mechanisms, identifying CP-190 as a potential binding protein. Their findings on the loss of TAD boundaries in mutants and the role of transcription in TAD boundary formation are discussed as well as the function of CP190 and insulators in preventing interactions between promoters and enhancers. Their work challenges existing models of insulator function and seeks to understand their mechanisms better. The conversation concludes with insights into long-range regulatory associations in Drosophila, emphasizing the punctual interactions between transcription factor binding sites and their effect on neural gene transcription and genome folding. ShownotesI don't have to be a crystal gazer to say that we have a long way to go before we achieve gender equality and even longer before we get to gender equity. This is not something unique to one part of the world, this is a reality across geographies in developed and developing countries. After decades of advocacy the only thing we can say with certainty is that there is too much talk, and very little action. And that too much talk has resulted in gender washing and fatigue amongst those in positions in power. The consensus from speaking to women leaders across the world is that the road to equity is steep and arduous. This struggle for representation and equity is stymied by a belief by people in positions of power and some women that all is well and that women can be who they aspire too and succeed. To throw light on some of challenges faced by women in the workplace I recently spoke with Mohana Talapatra, an ex practice leader for sustainability and ESG (at one of the big 4). As Mohana describes it - she has worked in typically type A - predominately male centric work environments in global investment banking and consulting. So it was interesting to hear her perspective on what it takes to succeed in male dominated spacesIn this freewheeling conversation we spoke about a lot of things including

First-generation Indian-American Mohana Chakrabarti joins Nadia Imafidon for a conversation on being an empath as a social worker, the dangers of beauty clichés including their ableist tendencies, her journey with the autoimmune hair loss condition called alopecia, and how the internet breeds harmful memes and problematic influencers like YouTube star James Charles who make a mockery of the bald/alopecian community. A daughter of immigrants from West Bengal, India, Mohana is an alternative school social worker from Manhattan, Kansas who is currently residing and working in the Kansas City metro area. At 8 years old, she developed alopecia, which progressed into total body hair loss (known as alopecia universalis) by the time she reached middle school. Throughout her life, Mohana has dealt with issues surrounding traditional standards of body image, and social belonging and understanding due to her hair loss, and is on a continual journey towards what she calls “cerebral peace,” or the ability to sit in contentment with one's self. These identities and experiences have carved Mohana's passion for social work and social justice, especially in the pursuit of societal equity and compassion for marginalized youth and their families. Mohana has a special place in her heart for urban-core alternative public education, an environment teeming with opportunities for trauma-informed care, advocacy and activism for marginalized youth, and building meaningful relationships with students and colleagues. In her free time, you can find Mohana playing or cuddling with her two dogs, watching teen drama TV shows, or spending quality time with loved ones. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nadia-imafidon/support
