My guest, Lynne Smith and I went to high school together and had gone to the same dance studio in our early years. We reconnected at our 40th School Reunion and became friends again via Facebook. It was only recently that I discovered, Lynne had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 33. When I saw a Facebook post of her swimming with sharks (in a controlled environment of course), travelling and enjoying life I was amazed and knew I wanted her to share her story with my listeners.During the episode Lynne and I discussed:* Lynne's diagnosis with MS at age 33* Her resilience and reinvention* The power of a positive mindsent* How MS hasn't held her back because of her determintaion* Her work as an MS ambassador working with politicians to spread the word of MS Watch on YoutubeMeet LynneBorn in Sydney March 1958 to a Self-employed builder and a homemaker.I matriculated in 1975 but was discouraged from pursuing advanced education and attended Miss Hales Business College instead.I knew I was never going to be someone's secretary but in fact it led to my first overseas adventure, when I applied for and attained a position of Cruise Hostess on the MV Turkenia, a Russian cruise ship that sailed a Ship/Jet route from Freemantle to Singapore. I was 18.A couple of years later I wanted to earn some money (to travel to England) so started working as a waitress in Sydney. I earned the money and went to England but in the meantime, I had met a chef…Forward to 1978 and we opened our first restaurant (Manly Sydney). I combined my business and hospitality skills and learnt that all knowledge is useful. Also that I had my father's self employment genes). We went on to open three restaurants over several years and life proceeded until I became unwell and was diagnosed with MS in 1991. I was 33 yrs old.Of course that changed everything, personally and professionally. It was very difficult to adjust from busy busy busy to nothing and accept that I needed help with things that I had taken for granted. It took some years and professional psychological help to learn how to live in my new lifeI had to deal with my diagnosis and prognosis whilst we continued our profession. Although I had staff it became apparent that our future would be different and we sold up and changed professions.Whilst I adjusted to my new life that slowed me down and I learnt to accept the changes, my husband learnt how to become an internet service provider. By then we lived on the central coast and the industry was just beginning to expand. We eventually went on to own 5 mobile phone shops.By 2010 my health was stabilising. I was not involved in the business but needed something to challenge me. As my dogs had passed away (We do not have children) I decided to start a dog minding business that involved minding dogs in our home. I knew I had the business and hospitality skills to adapt to this growing industry. When I sold the business in 2022 I had 12 minders around the coast so those skills from Miss Hales in 1976 helped all my professional life!We were ready to retire and we now travel as much as we can and enjoy our home, friends and extended family.Fortunately I have been stable for some time and that means I can function reasonably well (now diagnosed 34 years). I can walk unaided for short distances and run my home with help from a cleaner. I enjoy exercise with my MS friends and attend ScubGym classes weekly that helps to keep up my stamina, strength and flexibility. We have a small teardrop van and we like to travel around Australia (state by state). We also enjoy cruising when possible.I've always been a positive person and was taught to make the most of a situation. I've done that to the best of my ability.Lynne, is truly an inspirational woman and I very much enjoyed chatting with her. Thanks for reading Women Living Well After 50 with Sue Loncaric! In this episode, I share the profound transformation I've experienced through my journey with Human Design. From my first encounter with this system that brought immense relief and validation, to the deeper understanding I've gained working with hundreds of clients, I reveal how Human Design has shifted my perspective from seeking answers outside myself to trusting my inner wisdom.I explore how Human Design helped me embrace my multi-passionate nature, make decisions through my body rather than my mind, and become comfortable with my introverted tendencies. Most importantly, I discuss how recognizing and accepting my fears, rather than resisting them, has helped me use them as fuel for growth instead of barriers to my potential.Key insights from this episode: How Human Design shifted me from playing small to fully owning my unique gifts Why I view Human Design as a confirmation tool rather than a restrictive system My evolution toward more intuitive, client-centered readings The emergence of True Sidereal Human Design and how it brings new levels of alignment The power of letting your body guide your decisions in business and lifeI also share details about my upcoming Intuitive Human Design Teacher Training and Certification - a 9-month transformative journey designed to empower you to share this knowledge in your unique way. Email us at podcast@pursueGOD.org.Donate Now --It's easy to fool ourselves when it comes to discerning God's willJeremiah 17:9-10 (NLT) 9 “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? 10 But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. We all have secret motives driven by the sinful nature. 2 Timothy 4:3 (NLT) 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.We all have a tendency to do this when looking for directionSeek out people who say what we WANT them to sayNot necessarily what GOD is really saying to usAnd here's the crazy thing: it's not always false teachers who do thisSometimes it's our best friends or our loving parentsThat's what we're going to see in the text todayIt's a stark reminder that discerning the will of God is a tricky thingAnd while I can't give you a blanket answer for your personal lifeI can give you principles for discerning God's willBut first, to the text for today. We're actually starting in Acts 20…Acts 20:22-23 (NLT) 22 “And now I am bound by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem. I don't know what awaits me, 23 except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead.”Paul felt like he heard from God on this. “Bound by the Spirit” in Acts 20“compelled by the Spirit” in Acts 19Have you ever felt like this? But how do you know it's really from God? Not an audible voiceGut feeling - could just be a bad burrito from the night beforeThe human heart is deceitful…It gets even more interesting: Acts 21:4 (NLT) 4 We went ashore, found the local believers, and stayed with them a week. These believers prophesied through the Holy Spirit that Paul should not go on to Jerusalem.“Through the HS”Same HS that “bound” and “compelled” Paul?Seems confusing. And then this: Acts 21:10-12 (NLT) 10 Several days later a man named Agabus, who also had the gift of prophecy, arrived from Judea. 11 He came over, took Paul's belt, and bound his own feet and hands with it. Then he said, “The Holy Spirit declares, ‘So shall the owner of this belt be bound by the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem and turned over to the Gentiles.'” 12 When we heard this, we and the local believers all begged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. What the heck!? Even more messages from the HSPause: What...
In this episode, I'm speaking with Marc Champagne — who after building a journaling app that reached nearly 90 million users and then having to shut it down, emerged with profound insights about the power of transformative questions and the Socratic Method. In this conversation, we explored:❓ What it means to ask better quality questions, some of the specific questions that have altered the trajectory of Marc's life — like “How can I be the most curious person in the room?” or “Whom haven't I thanked lately?”
I Am A Child of God (Identity Series)1 John 3:1 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”This verse is so powerful. What great love the Father has lavished on us, isn't that powerful? Can't you just picture the Father lavishing us with Love? Or maybe you can't. Maybe you struggle to believe that you are a child of God. Maybe you struggle to believe that the Lord loves you, and the thought that He lavishes love on you is something that you just can't wrap your head around. If this is you, you are not alone. Love in this world is so complicated, and a lot of things can get in the way of us loving and feeling loved. There is a song by Matthew West called “Hello, My Name Is.” This song has the beginning line of the verse above in the lyrics, along with some reasons why we can't feel this love. I want to go over some of those lyrics with you. Also, there is a link to the song in the show notes if you want to listen to it.The song starts out by saying:Hello, my name is RegretI'm pretty sure we have metEvery single day of your lifeI'm the whisper insideThat won't let you forgetThis is true for so many of us. We struggle to feel God's love because we have so many regrets. Regrets over things we have done or things we have said; regrets over things we didn't do and didn't say. When we have regrets, the enemy takes those, and he whispers them to us over and over again so that we feel like we aren't worthy of God's love. The enemy doesn't let us forget about them.Next, the song goes on to say:Hello, my name is defeatI know you recognize meJust when you think you can winI'll drag you right back down againTill you've lost all beliefDoes this sound familiar? Things are going well and then we start to get a voice in our head telling us that things will go wrong. Sure, it seems like all is going well, but things always get messed up in the end. Things have gone wrong so many times in the past that you start to think you don't deserve to win. You don't deserve the happiness or the love that God has planned for you. When this happens, we can start to self-sabotage. We don't even know we are doing it. The enemy just keeps telling us that we have failed in the past, so we will fail again. He drags us back down over and over again until we have lost all belief in ourselves and sometimes in God.Then the song goes on to say:Oh, these are the voices; oh these are the liesAnd I have believed them, for the very last timeHello, my name is child of the One True KingI've been saved, I've been changed, I have been set freeAmazing Grace is the song I singHello, my name is child of the One True KingThis is a verse that we may want to write down and read often. I know I say this about a lot of verses from scripture, and you may have a lot of Post-it notes or index cards. I really think this one could help us all when we are feeling defeated or when the enemy is telling us lies. As much as we want to believe that God loves us and that we are His children, sometimes, the things of this world get in our way. Sometimes, we let the enemy's lies get to us and convince us that we are not worthy, that we are not loved, that we are unlovable, and so many other things that are not true. For me, when I heard this song, I loved it. I have listened to it a million times or so. Well, that may be a slight exaggeration, but I have listened to it a lot. And guess what? Now I hear this chorus run through my head when I need it to. When I start to feel down on myself, I literally tell myself, “Catherine, you are a child of the one true king!” When I hear this, I can't help but smile. When I start to doubt myself, when I start to have regret, or when I feel any of the enemy's tactics, I tell him, sorry, but I am a child of the one true king. You've got nothing on my God; He is my one true king. I have even started saying this to my friends when they are struggling. When they are feeling down and also when they are feeling attacked, I remind them who they are and who they are. They are a child of God, the one true King, and He won't let the enemy hurt them. He won't let the enemy win.The song goes on to say:I am no longer definedBy all the wreckage behindThe One who makes all things newHas proven it's trueJust take a look at my lifeWe all have things in our past that we are not proud of. We have all said and done things that weren't great. Whether we did them on purpose or not, none of us are perfect. We live in a broken world, and this means that we hurt people sometimes. Regardless of what you have done in your past, you do not have to be defined by it. I think it is good to reflect on any areas that you are not proud of. If there are things you regret in your past, then take stalk of them and hand them over to the Lord. Ask Him to help you forgive yourself. Ask Him to help you move past them. We can not change the past, no matter how much we want to. If we want to find peace with our past mistakes, we need to turn them over and ask God for help. As these lyrics say, He is the one that makes all things new. I also like how the lyrics say that he Has proven it true: just take a look at my life. I think if we all took a look at our lives over the years, we would see plenty of examples of how God showed us His love, how He protected us from things, how He saved us from things. The song ends with:What love the Father Has lavished upon usThat we should be called His childrenHello, my name is child of the One True KingI've been saved, I've been changed, I have been set freeAmazing Grace is the song I singHello, my name is a child of the One True King, yeahThese are the words from the scripture verse above. Can you imagine how much the Lord loves us to call us His children? Think about how much love you have for your children. Now, multiply that by a bazillion, and that is how much our heavenly Father loves us. My hope is that when you start to doubt this, you remember this song, you remember this scripture verse, and you remember that you are a child of the one true king. You remember that you've been saved, you've been changed, you have been set free. You are not who you were, and you don't have to let your past mistakes define you. God has saved you, changed you, and set you free from everything. All you have to do is live in this freedom. Don't let the enemy drag you back to your old self. Anytime he starts to whisper lies in your ear, just tell him, “I am a child of the one true king, I am not listening to you.” Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today. Lord, we are so grateful for all the love that you lavish on us. We are sorry if we find it hard to accept it sometimes. Please help us with this. We want to accept all that you have to offer us freely. We want to live in the freedom you have given us. We don't want to live with any chains that the enemy tries to weigh us down with. Please help us release anything that we need to release to live in your freedom. You are so amazing and you give us so much, help us to accept it. Help us to know that we are your children and that you love us. Help us not to believe the lies of the enemy. We are grateful for all you do for us, Lord. We ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen.Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. In this episode, I break down the myth of work-life balance and explain why it's a misconception that often sets work and life up as opposing forces. I dive into the idea of embracing life's natural tensions and explore how we can find harmony among our various responsibilities. Through personal stories and insights from over a decade of coaching and consulting experience, I introduce a new framework for managing responsibilities by categorizing them into three key areas: accountable, responsible, and chosen. I also explore the benefits of holding onto life's tensions, such as anxiety, rather than trying to eliminate them, aiming for a more integrated and peaceful existence.Key Quotes"Work-life balance is a lie. The only people who talk about needing work-life balance are those who believe they are working too much.""We're not trying to balance two things; it's the complexity of life that is pulling us in all directions.""Anxiety isn't something to get rid of; it's something to be with, to hold the tension of.""We shouldn't see rest and work as opposites. They can coexist if we allow them to."Debunking the Myth of Work-Life BalanceWork-life balance is something many people strive for, yet I believe it's fundamentally flawed. It's often framed as a one-way street, only coming up when we feel overwhelmed by work, never when life itself seems to take over. This mindset puts work and life in constant opposition, leaving us searching for a harmony that seems just out of reach. I argue that, instead of balancing these two aspects, we need to acknowledge the complexity of life as it pulls us in different directions.Life's Tensions: Beyond Work and LifeHere's what I've learned: life is not just about work and life as two separate forces. There are multiple elements in play—family, relationships, personal growth, career goals, and much more. Each aspect pulls us in different directions, creating a natural tension. I suggest that the goal isn't to find a perfect balance but to recognize and live with this tension, integrating all areas of life into a cohesive whole.Three Buckets of Life's ResponsibilitiesI introduce my three-bucket framework for categorizing responsibilities into three key areas:Accountable: These are commitments I'm answerable for, like my marriage or my business. I may not control every aspect, but I'm accountable for the overall outcome.Responsible: These are things I'm directly responsible for, like my health, daily tasks, and caring for my children.Chosen: These are responsibilities I've willingly taken on, such as managing my grandparents' finances. I'm neither inherently responsible nor accountable for these, but I've chosen to take them on.This framework provides a clearer picture of where our energy and focus should go, helping us navigate life's natural tensions more effectively.Embracing Anxiety and TensionNow, let's talk about anxiety. It's easy to want to push it away or see it as something to eliminate. But what if anxiety serves a purpose? It makes you detail-oriented, thoughtful, and caring. Instead of fighting against it, what if you embraced it and held that tension alongside other aspects of your life? The idea is not to eliminate anxiety but to allow it to coexist with peace, recognizing it as part of life's tensions.Living in the Tension of LifeI challenge you to stop seeing rest and work, productivity and relaxation as opposites. They aren't. They can coexist if we allow them to. It's about holding the space where both can exist. When you're at home after a long day, wanting to work out but also wanting to rest, ask yourself: why can't both happen? Maybe you can do a quick 15-minute workout and then relax. It's about living in the tension rather than trying to strike an impossible balance.Resources MentionedWebsite: Rocky GarzaUpcoming Virtual Event: https://rockygarza.com/beyondsuccessKey Time Stamps00:00 Debunking the Myth of Work-Life Balance00:28 Introduction to the Rocky Garza Show01:40 The One-Way Street of Work-Life Balance04:38 Life's Tensions: Beyond Work and Life06:12 Three Buckets of Life Responsibilities10:37 Embracing Anxiety and Tension12:41 Combining Rest and Activity14:10 Living in Life's Tensions15:20 Conclusion and Next StepsTo join Rocky for his next free virtual event, go to https://rockygarza.com/beyondsuccessSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/trgs/donations

Have you ever wondered how mindfulness can completely change your life? In this episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Billy Lahr, an intentional living and mindfulness coach and the voice behind the Mindful Midlife Crisis podcast. Let me tell you, Billy's story is nothing short of inspiring. From his days as a Dean of Students to his adventures around the globe, he's been on a quest for connection and purpose. He opened up about how mindfulness has been a game-changer in dealing with his anxiety and depression, and how it's transformed his relationships. In our conversation, we covered some fascinating topics:Billy's transition from education to exploring the worldWhy the advice “follow your passion” is BS, and what to do insteadHow cultivating a mindfulness practice not only changed his life but most likely saved it as wellHow ditching “to-do” lists for “CHIPS” lists can make you more focused and productiveThe significance of building intentional connectionsStrategies for living a more intentional and fulfilling lifeI hope you'll find as much value in this discussion as I did. Billy's insights are a powerful reminder of how living mindfully can lead us to a life filled with more happiness and deeper connections. About Billy Lahr:Billy Lahr is an intentional living and mindfulness coach, certified personal trainer, former educator, and serial overthinker. Billy is also the host of The Mindful Midlife Crisis, a podcast for people navigating the complexities and possibilities of life's second half. Billy spent 21 years as an educator but experienced burnout due to budding mental health concerns, social media harassment from students, and a lack of job satisfaction. In 2021, Billy left his job as dean of students in order to travel the world in search of meaningful experiences and community. Since then, he's been a GPS for those seeking purpose and passion by helping them identify strengths, explore curiosities, synergize with their crew, and cultivate consistency, discipline, patience, and self-compassion. This may piss you off:It's not your hormones, it's not menopause, it's not your age.I talk to women everyday that are dealing with unwanted belly fat, weight gain, fatigue, lack of energy and motivation, digestion issues (bloating and constipation), difficulty sleeping, hair loss, low libido and mood swings. It's your lifestyle…Thinking menopause is the issue IS the issue.Because this is what women say when I ask what is your biggest challenge right now?I don't have time to cook or meal prep I'm too busy, my job is demandingI can't lower my stress, it's just part of my lifeI don't have the time, energy or motivation to workoutIt's too cold/hot to walk outsideI forget to eat or I'm just not hungryI crave snacks at night and can't stopI eat great all week, it's the weekends that are my downfallThose are lifestyle choices, not your hormones or menopause. Now, I KNOW things are harder as you go through menopause, this was my experience as well. But it wasn't my hormones that was causing me to gain weight month after month or why things that used to work weren't working. You do have to pivot at this stage and make some lifestyle changes. Now accepting clients, book a free 10-15 minute quick chat to talk more about you and your goals! http://www.menopotmeltdown.com/book-quickchatFree No BS Menopause Secrets Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/kathykatalyst/?ref=shareFor all my social links: https://bit.ly/kathykatalystDo you have a question that you would like answered on the show? Do you ever think is God punishing me for something? As a teacher, artist, and writer, Kelly has been privileged to befriend children in the darkness of disease, poverty, enslavement, and incredible grief. Yet in those very spaces, she has experienced even a destitute, red dirt path behold the craziest kind of party when tens of tiny, shoeless feet sprinted after her. Not one trip did Kelly give as much as she received, from children. Now as the founder of Project Lightwell Kelly Carlson discusses how God has used the battle of her chronic illness to bring light to a child's lifeI personally resonated with pieces of Kelly's story. I loved how God used all those things from her skip-it, to her time with kids in orphanages, to fighting her illness to now be an influence in so many children's lives. Pushing a return to power for women, is my jam! AND I am realizing that societally, this empowerment has been coming at the cost of competency for being in healthy relationship with men who are also on the journey of re-empowering themselves. Almost as if, we have forgotten that men are also....human. And this is an actual issue that isn't getting much play right now. In episode 26 of Full Ass Human, I bring on my first guest, my brother Lyndon, to share about his personal experiences as a man, navigating women-dominated community spaces as well as personal relationships with women and the impact they have had on his life, personal and spiritual growth. In this episode of Full Ass Human we also chat with you about: The metaphorical "ghost" experience as a man in relationshipsThe lunacy of the societal default belief that men and women cannot have platonic relationshipsThe importance of men and women comingling in healing, human-centered community TOGETHERLyndon's personal experience with never having adequate space held for him by women in his lifeI'm excited for you to get exactly what you need from this episode!✍

Season One is a wrap!I thank those of you that have listened to me as I figure out this podcast thing! I have learned much about everything podcasting and look forward to growing even more as I continue this journey. If you listened this season you probably heard bits about my purpose and exploring Oneness; about miracles and coincidences, signs about manifesting; you've heard guests talking about connection with dogs and jobs and health and communities – and it's all been perfect! In connectedness there is no wrong way, so even if I thought I could have done something “better”, I'll surrender to the idea that it's all just fine as is. So what's next? Definitely more podcasts! I'm going to switch my format to serial instead of seasons, but as a listener – you shouldn't see (um, hear) any difference!I'll have more guests and am busy lining them up right now. Including one about shared death experiences – you've probably heard of near death experiences, well this is a whole new level! Listen to this podcast to hear more about it… I want to answer more of your questions – so ask! You can fill out this form here And of course, so many ideas and tips on how you can live easier and in a more meaningful way – however you define it. I'm so glad we've had this time together . . . so long season one! PS did you ever wonder about my weird episode titles? The first 6 episodes or so? They're all from songs, and the songs were inspired by what I was talking about. As i was outlining or getting the episode ready, those are the songs that came to me. In one of the episodes I talk about the fact I've found myself singing a lot since I quit my job. And I do, LOL, I walk around the house singing. I mean I sing the weirdest things, not just songs, to the cats and the dogs and the chickens and the fireplace and anything else. So there it is – I'm thinking life is a song when you're happy

I get questions about the work I do with people – which is mindset work, spiritual practices, law of attraction work, mindfulness routines – asking what it has to do with connectedness. And I realize that, in my head, it's all about connectedness. But I can see how when I specify things like synchronicities and coincidences it appears to have nothing to do with mindset because mindset is very mental and the other practices seem more energetic or spiritual. I understand why people get confused, so I want to explain how it all relates in this episode. In brief, everything is within the connectedness of everything! Anything that blocks us from our flow, from being one with everything, needs to have some kind of practice or routine or work done with it so that we can either maintain our flow, or learn how to get back into flow. We want come back into connectedness because this is where the ease is, this is where we find our greatest satisfaction, when we are living within the connectedness within knowing and feeling our connectedness. In this episode you'll learn why it is so important to release past energy Why something mental like mindset work is important to our spiritual expansion how spiritual practices keep us in the moment whether we realize it or not You may be interested in Episode one that explains why I think it'd be super if everyone were happy! As we kick off Season 3 of the Forever Marriage Podcast, Scott & Dawn discuss what it means to FINISH WELL.How we start in life is important. Athletic races are often won and lost at the starting blocks. But, even more important than a good start is a great finish. The older we get, the less impressed we are with the “shooting stars” of today who have a great start. It's common nowadays for “shooting stars” to become “flashes in the pan” who either finish poorly or don't finish the race at all. We are truly inspired by those who exhibit steadfast faithfulness over the course of a lifetime - often 7-9 decades in length. They are the real stars. Afterall, real life is more of a marathon than it is a sprint, isn't it? The ones who have trained and prepared to run a marathon often know what it takes to “finish with endurance the race that is set before (them)” - Hebrews 12:1.In our next episodes, we'll discuss these 10 characteristics that seem to be common threads of those who FINISH WELL:F - ix your eyes on JesusI - nvite others into your lifeN - urture the habits of grace (spiritual disciplines) in your personal lifeI - nvest in othersS - et up hedges of protectionH - ave a focused lifeW - alk in a manner worthy of the LordE - stablish sustainable habitsL - earn for all of lifeL - ive with the end in mindMentioned in this episode:Jean Fleming's Pursue the Intentional LifeWord to ponder - PreparePsalm 90:12

I'm sharing what the experience was like and how I transcended this toxic pattern in today's episode We also discuss:Understanding toxic patternsHow to heal toxic patternsWhat my addiction to exercising was really aboutHow I plan on rebuilding my relationship with working out& way more than you knew you needed to know!Let's Connect! Welcome to the Limitless one podcast, I am your host Anand J. Sukhadia. Let's create some magic together. Our guest, Zofia Rennea Morales is an award-winning global strategist and former biophysicist.
