While the Paris Agreement was being forged back in 2015, developing countries shocked the world by leading the way and continually pushing for more ambition out of the Agreement. Developing countries have much lower impacts on climate than more industrialized countries, but, developing countries will suffer much more under climate change than the rest. So we know that developing countries have the drive to change and ensure that they are doing their part to mitigate climate change, but they still require many resources scarce to them; money, natural resources, and perhaps most importantly, expertise. Olaniyi Oyeniyi, my guest this episode takes me through the challenges that countries are facing in sustainably developing and what we need to do to ensure that every nation can develop in a way that is climate friendly. If you are someone who cares about climate change but you're tired of hearing about how the world is going to explode in a few short years if we don't do something soon (What does that even mean?), then this podcast is for you. We stay away from divisive politics and meaningless numbers with no context, and instead I interview climate action leaders implementing revolutionary ideas that are helping to reduce our impact on the world around us. Listen to this podcast to learn, be inspired, and find new ideas to look into even more. If you are interested in getting involved, please use any of the contacts or social media listed below, and look into the links below as well for actionable things you can do right now.Who am I?My name is Avry Krywolt, I am a student from Alberta Canada, I am passionate about taking action against climate change, and I am the host of Innovating a Bright Future. I've noticed through my own experience that the number of people concerned about climate change is growing quickly. At the same time, the information being presented to the public is, in most cases, a sad sigh of defeat, irrational denialism, or frantic screaming that does no one any good. The fact is that climate change is happening, but it is not hopeless, and you are not powerless. TED speaker and climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe said that “The most important thing you can for climate change is talk about it.” so let's talk about it. Let's learn about solar energy and battery storage, let's dig into green hydrogen, and wind, and the power of water, and the importance of sustainable energy. Let's learn and let's discuss. We aren't doomed, but we have to work hard in order to keep climate change from wreaking real havoc on our world. The Nigerian Army has said that it was persuaded to enforce the curfew in Lagos by the state government. The army declared, on Tuesday, in a statement by its 81 Division in Lagos. The statement was signed by its appointee Osoba Olaniyi.Mr Adeniyi while explaining the role played by the army at the Lekki toll gate maintained that they acted within the confines of the Rules of Engagement for Internal Security operations. He also stated that soldiers did not shoot at the #EndSARS protesters in Lagos. In the statement titled “Press release on alleged massacre of protesters at Lekki toll gate,” Mr Olaniyi described the allegations of soldiers shooting at protesters as untrue, adding that no soldier fired a shot at the protesters.“The attention of Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army has been drawn to a viral video on social media in which it was alleged that civilians protesters were massacred by soldiers at Lekki toll plaza.”“This allegation is untrue, unfounded and aimed at causing anarchy in the country. At no time did soldiers of the Nigerian Army open fire on any civilian.”“From the onset of the ENDSARS protest, there was no time personnel of 81 Division Nigerian Army Lagos, were involved.”“However, the decision to call in the military was taken by the Lagos State Government after a 24 hours curfew was imposed.”“This was as a result of the violence which led to several police stations being burnt, policemen killed, suspects in police custody released and weapons carted away.”“The situation was fast degenerating into anarchy. It was at this point that LASG requested for the military to intervene in order to restore normalcy.“The intervention of the military followed all laid down procedures for internal security operations and all the soldiers involved acted within the confines of the Rules of Engagement for Internal Security operations,” the statement read.Mr Olaniyi added that there were “glaring and convincing evidence to attest that no protester was shot by the soldiers.”The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had earlier disclosed that soldiers shot at the protesters.Mr Sanwo-Olu said this in an interview with CNN on Monday. The governor also said he did not invite soldiers or ask them to shoot at at protesters. The governor also promise that the CCTV footage of the incident would be available to the state judicial panel probing brutality of security operatives.“We will be committed to a full investigation of what happened and people would be held accountable. They certainly would be held accountable. We would do everything possible to ensure that they are held accountable,” he said.“People have claimed that their friends and family members have been killed. So, this Judicial Panel of Enquiry is meant to bring all of these stories to accountability; where we can make restitutions, where families can prove and identify officers that were responsible for this.“I am not the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; I am Governor of a State. The report would be out and we would channel the report to all the relevant authorities in the state to ensure that every one that is found culpable is accountable for the act,” he said.

You Must Have a Vision Before you can achieve any goal, you must first set that goal. Before you can arrive at a destination, you must know what destination you wish to arrive at. Before you can live the life of your dreams, you must have a vision for what that life looks like. So many men today walk around aimlessly, without any real vision or purpose to their lives. Maybe they have some arbitrary goals that they set because society told them to, but they lack a visceral purpose and vision that pushes them forward in life. If you hope to live a great life, a life of meaning, a legendary life, then you must start with your vision. Who do you want to be? What do you want to achieve? How do you want to show up every day? How many lives do you want to impact? Until you know the answers to these questions, you cannot achieve the life you were born to achieve. 2. Reverse Engineer Your Vision and Treat Failures as Opportunities Once you have a vision, you have just gotten started. With your vision clearly written down, you must reverse engineer the steps that are required to achieve that vision until you have a long list of small steps that will help you achieve your goals in the coming years. Once you know what steps you need to take and when you need to take them (this will take you a long time to figure out), you must take daily massive action and learn from everything you do. You must remember that failure doesn’t mean you’re out of the game, it means you have a chance to learn. For example, if you sit down to work and have a completely unproductive day, instead of viewing this as a failure, ask yourself “What did I learn?” Maybe you learned that your phone needs to be on airplane mode throughout the workday. Maybe you learned that you need to have your days planned before you begin them. Or maybe you learned that you just need to get some extra sleep because you’re too damn exhausted to work. Whatever you learn, write it down, tweak your approach, and continually learn from the process until you achieve your goal. 3. Stay Hungry and Focus on Growth One of the biggest traps into which many men fall is the trap of success and complacency. You see, many of us start with relatively small visions that we achieve early on in life. Maybe you’ve sold your business, finally earned the 6-figure salary, or married the woman of your dreams. That’s great, but you’re not even close to finished. In fact, you’re just getting started. Life is all about expansion, it’s about growth, it’s about constantly striving to be, do, and achieve more. Instead of resting on your laurels, you must stay hungry. Even when you are enjoying the fruits of your hard work, you must set your sights on the next milestone, the next goal, and the next vision. Because if you don’t, if you settle in your current circumstances, you will eventually atrophy and die, leaving this world with so much potential left on the table. No matter how successful you are or how much success you achieve, you must remember the famous words of Steve Jobs and “Stay hungry, stay foolish”. 4. Commit Yourself to Discipline Every Single Day Most of you have probably heard our interview with Jocko Willink where he echoes his infamous statement that “Discipline Equals Freedom”. And most of you treat this statement as a convenient war cry instead of an ethos by which you live your life. Most men commit to discipline sporadically and as a result, they make great achievements and breakthroughs sporadically as well. They are disciplined when they need to be but they aren’t disciplined when they should be. And this reality is clearly reflected in their success and failures. If you want to be one of the greats, if you want to be a legend, if you want to be the kind of person who people remember, then you must be willing to discipline yourself daily. You must make a commitment to discipline every day that you wake up, you must stand strong in your values, and take massive action towards your goals even when you don’t need to. This is the only way to achieve lasting success and it’s the only way that you will leave a dent in this universe. 5. Surround Yourself with the Right People When you have created a vision, reverse engineered that vision, committed yourself to discipline, and begin learning from your failures, there is only one final step towards ultimate achievement. Your network. Who you surround yourself with is one of the single most important factors in anyone’s journey. If your five closest friends are millionaires, high achievers, and grounded men, then you will be the sixth. Conversely, if your five closest friends are slobs, party animals, and lost boys then you will become the sixth. You are the average of your five closest friends so pay careful attention to the company that you keep… It can literally make or break your success.

Have you ever felt like you were just not getting the most out of life or perhaps even folding under pressure? Today's guest, former New Orleans Saints Running back and All-American Portland State Beaver -- Niyi Sobo, joins us to talk about how he fosters
Olaniyi “Nee” Sobomehin is a former American football fullback. He played college football at Portland State. He was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2008. After being cut from the NFL due to an injury, Olaniyi decided to begin coaching and from there, in adittion to being a full time fire fighter, he has built a coaching company imnotyou.com to help young athletes be successful at an elite level. Favorite Success Quote “Life is just a battle against your disbelief that's why I'm screaming I'm the greatest of all time like young Ali”~Nipsey Hustle Key Points 1. If Your Mindset isn't Right Your Life Won't be Right Everything in your life, good or bad, stems from your mindset and your internal beliefs. If your mindset is weak, your life will be weak, it's that simple. You must develop the habit of improving the quality of your thinking daily. Stop tolerating weak and amateur level behavior and beliefs from yourself, challenge all of your limiting beliefs that say “I can't do this” or “I'm not worthy.” Quit complaining and making excuses and just get to work, improve your mindset and build the life of your dreams. 2. Begin Your Morning in the Right State One of the habits nearly every successful person follows is a powerful morning routine. How you start your days plays a huge role in the outcome of your days, and your days control the outcome of your life, so if you want to take control of your life, take control of your mornings. Some habits you can begin instilling into your morning routine for rapid results are: 1. Affirmations: Tell yourself that you are the best over and over, and over 2. Meditation: Quiet your mind and get present and focused for the day ahead 3. Read: There is almost nothing as important as educating yourself, read, read, read. 4. Exercise: Get the endorphins going and the blood flowing 3. Eliminate Things That Are Distracting You From Your Goals We live in a digital age where big companies capitalize on creating products that distract us from living our lives. If you want to be truly successful, you must begin to ruthlessly eliminate things that distract you from achieving your goals. Do you really need to spend hours on facebook each day for “Business,” is the next episode of Breaking Bad really more important than your dreams and aspirations? Start eliminating distractions so that you can fill your life with real experiences and real achievement and impact. 4. Read as Much as You Can One of the cornerstone habit of every successful individual is massive self education. The most important investment you can make is in yourself, and reading is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to do that. Begin incorporating an hour of reading or listening to audiobooks into your life every day. Fill your head with the thoughts and life lessons of the greatest people who have ever lived and watch the quality of your life transform. 5. To Get Good Results You Need Good Emotions Your emotions are either helping or hurting you, there is no in between. If you want to see exceptional results in your life you need to have an exceptional quality of emotions. Learn to control how you feel in each moment. Understand the affect that sleep, exercise, posture, diet, and even your clothing has on how you feel in each moment and begin to build a lifestyle conducive to positive emotions. 6. Stop Being a Wimp aka Own Your Situation Whenever you find yourself allowing circumstances and negative emotions to rule your life, or whenever you begin playing the blame game, stop being a little wimp and own your situation. You are where you are because of the actions you have (or haven't) taken. You are responsible for your life, no one else. When you take 100% responsibility for your life, there is no one left to blame, and when there is no one left to blame you can begin living the life that you were born to live.

If I don't do it - somebody else will. You have to invest in them and have a plan. The Daily D system (Daily Disciplines) - each kid has a set of daily habits that are tracked and rewarded My ‘Cringe Moment' Early on Olaniyi thought his approach was the only right one. He learned each kid, each team - have individual personalities and will respond uniquely. So you have to constantly be learning. ‘Leaders are stubborn on vision but flexible on details and approach' - Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon Teaching Children & Keeping it Fun HUGE IDEA #1 Communicating in a way that the kids understand is your ultimate goal/challenge. Use analogies with something they are passionate about (Legos, basketball, singing, etc.) Tony Robbins: 'The only way to know if you're communicating well - is if your point is getting across' Mental Peak Performance Fear of failure- Great analogy - Olaniyi's son hates to lose and might quit in the middle of a race - So he used the analogy of how obsessed his son is with Mari0 Kart to beat a level - when he fails to complete a level - he doesn't quit, he keeps pushing reset until he eventually will beat the level. So use this analogy to show your athlete the type of passion you need to accomplish something - quitting is the only way you will fail. Quote: 'As long as I take action, evaluate the effectiveness, and adjust according to my desired result, then it's a win' Initially the first killer of confidence is a lack of skill. So initially establish a baseline and define some quick improvements where they can see their skill improve by doing some Daily disciplines. HUGE IDEA #2 Confidence is a choice. Olaniyi's kids start each day by looking in the mirror and do 'Affirmations', they call it 'Prime-time.' They flex their muscles and tell themselves they are strong, confident, and proud. They also record audio of their affirmations in GarageBand laid on top of their favorite track. Discipline and Teambuilding The #1 challenge for a coach is to establish a purpose for being on this team. The athlete should be excited about coming to practice, not dread it. Inspiring Story One of Olaniyi's students did not have much self confidence. Olaniyi has worked with her to establish a life vision, purpose, morning mastery routine - now she is taking massive action towards these goals. The One that Got Away As an assistant coach- Olaniyi saw an athlete who was having a rough game - and he chose not to say anything because he was worried about overstepping ...
