As the world awaits the release of his highly-anticipated sixth studio album The Off-Season, set to drop this Friday, J. Cole stopped by Power 106's L.A. Leakers to freestyle over a pair of rap classics: Mike Jones' “Still Tippin'” and Souls of Mischief's “93 'Til Infinity.”Cole led things off by rapping effortlessly over Souls of Mischief's hard-hitting classic, before bodying the beat of the Swishahouse crew's 2004 anthem “Still Tippin'.”The pair of freestyles arrive amid a busy week for Cole. After sharing “Interlude,” the first single from his upcoming album, last Friday, the 36-year-old North Carolina rapper kicked off this week with the release of his new documentary Applying Pressure: The Off-Season. Then, on Tuesday, he became the first rapper to grace the cover of Slam magazine, as he chopped it up with Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins and discussed where his mind is at as he prepares for what may or may not be the last leg of his music career.During the extensive interview, Cole explained the inspiration behind The Off-Season's title, comparing his career to that of a basketball player.“The Off-Season symbolizes the work that it takes to get to the highest height,” Cole explained. “The Off-Season represents the many hours and months and years it took to get to top form. Once you get to the season, it's too late to get better. You'll get better naturally, but what you know is what you know. You're getting that shit off in the off-season. So, that's really what [the title] represents. It represents the time spent getting better and pushing.”While acknowedging that he's entering a later stage of his career, Cole maintained that he has no plans of slowing down.“I'm doing all this work to be at peace with, if I never did another album, I'm cool,” he explained. “That's the reason for all of this, so I know that I put everything on the table. I left everything on the table, and I'm good with that. Because there's a lot of shit I want to do with my life and in my life that, because I have such an intense love and passion for the craft, if I don't let that go, I'm not going to be able to get to these other things that I also want to learn and grow and be good at.”SOURCE: Watch J. The holiday season is one filled with gatherings of family and friends. Many of us have expectations of the people around us as the result of years of experiences that have shaped our perspectives. What if we stepped outside those patterns and went into these situations with fresh eyes, and the intent of setting a positive tone? Perhaps we'd get different results, and thus a different experience. In this episode I talk about how to "show up," ways to keep the conversation going by asking questions, and how to divert the conversation away from controversial topics.I also discuss bringing "Fun Catalysts" like games and ideas for interaction. I end touching on how pride can get in the way if we let it, and what Jermaine Cole has to say about it.

The Crew proudly brings to you the first of a three part series called Hip Hop Dream Team, so we each pick 10 MC's from a certain era of Hip Hop and make our own dream roaster of spitters. Then later come up with another roaster from another era and later compare the two squads. Got it? This episode we start with 1990-2005, we compare notes and get to the dime. One hundred-twentieth Episode released on 05/14/2021. Happy Friday UG Fam! I know Jermaine Cole just dropped an album, but we just had to go ahead and drop this fire guest episode for y'all as well. Man, I can't express how thankful I am to attract great people into my life that allow me to continue to tell their stories. This one, is special and I think you guys are going to get a ton of value and perspective ONCE AGAIN. When I picked the title for this episode it was from reflecting on my time with Cedric and also just what he said in the episode. You can't be afraid to branch out and go to new places. Fresh was fitting because my favorite TV showing growing up was Fresh Prince. When Cedric came out to Portland we went out and wore Will and Carlton Fresh Prince jerseys and that night was as memorable as it gets. But more importantly, in the show, Will moves into a whole new life and if you watched the show, we all know how that worked out. Tons of growth. Cedric brings a lot to the table, but you're going to feel his infectious energy right away and he is a hilarious, loyal, and family man type of dude. Cedric is from the south, growing up in Fulton Mississippi. Cedric played college baseball at Ole Miss and got into the finance world working as an auditor but then transitioned to payroll at a successful company. Cedric bounced around in his twenties, making mistakes like most of us do. However, he learned important skills like networking and the ability to branch out and finally found his home and started his family in Nashville, Tennessee. Where he absolutely loves it. His journey is an incredible one and he gives some great advice throughout the episode. Man, always an honor and can't wait to link up with my guy again. One last note, you never know who you are going to meet. Relationships are huge, we said it on this episode, but can't stress that enough. Thank y'all for the continued support. Still thrilled to be bringing you more content and I appreciate any and all feedback. Continuing to use my voice to spread growth to the world in my own way. This week on A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal, we traveled to Los Angeles for an epic sit down with J. Cole's manager and Dreamville president Ib Hamad! Ib talks about moving to Queens from Paris, the second youngest of five children, with English his third language, finding his voice on the New York City basketball courts. We discuss coaching youth basketball, studying SportsCenter highlights each morning, fleeting thoughts of playing Division 1 college basketball, but ultimately ending up at St. Johns where he'd chase girls and befriend future multi-platinum rapper Jermaine Cole, who at that point barely admitted that he had rhymes. Ib goes through the early days, supporting his friend's musical ambitions at open mics, getting jobs together at call centers, knowing that they had album-ready songs, and eventually capturing the interest of the music industry: meetings with 50 Cent, Shady Records' Paul Rosenberg, and of course, Mark Pitts and Jay-Z. Ib takes us through how the "Dollar and a Dream" campaign started, how Dreamville started, the power of Cole's mixtapes, the many starts and stops Cole's early major label career went through, acting as a push-button DJ for Cole, the differences between the first and second albums, what the HBO series meant, and how exactly 2014 Forest Hills Drive came to be. All that plus stories about JID and Earth Gang, Bas and Cozz, why Interscope was the perfect label partner, who's nicer on the court between Cole and Ib, and much, much more!
