Not only does the 2025 NFL Draft kick off tonight in Green Bay, but the team concluded its final open media session on Wednesday night. NCAA Lawsuit conclusion held up by roster limits We'll start with possibly the most impactful news on the program's upcoming season, which has nothing to do with the team. The House v. NCAA case settlement has hit a major roadblock with judge Claudia Wilken refusing to accept a hard cutoff of walk-on players this year and instead grandfathering players into a gradual limitation of the roster limits over the next several seasons. We'll discuss what that means for the Penn State roster and the players fighting for a spot on the team this spring and summer. Next, we'll discuss the team's NFL Draft prospects who will go in the first round of the Draft tonight. We'll take a recruiting angle on the conversation, discussing the value of having two first-round picks: Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren. Penn State practice recapOf course, the team held open practice last night, so we'll recap what we saw and heard on Wednesday night. What did Penn State head coach James Franklin say about the format for the game? We'll review that, show you highlights from practice, and more! Penn State recruiting visits and conversationsThe team will hold four practices this week, including the Blue-White Game on Saturday. How has the team done at getting prospects on campus? It's the final push before the May evaluation period leading into official visits at the end of the month. Can the team push a few more commitments across the line this weekend? Recruiting reporters Sean Fitz and Ryan Snyder will discuss the upcoming names for the Blue-White Game, plus detail conversations they've had over the last week with recruits, parents, and coaches. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Penn State Practice Recap and Blue-White Recruiting Preview

Penn State practice recap Yesterday we recapped our perspectives on Penn State's open practice from Tuesday night. Today, we're getting Fitz's perspective on what the team did in front of the media. He'll recap the events and discuss what meaningful things he's learned this week about the program. Penn State recruiting wins Penn State commit and potential five-star receiver Khalil Taylor discussed his decision to join the program with reporter Ryan Snyder earlier this week. While Snyder is off today, we're discussing his conversation with Taylor and relaying some of the highlights from his conversation with the 2027 pass catcher. We'll also discuss the team's out of region prospects. Penn State primarily relies on strong recruiting within its geographical footprint but can occasionally snag players from other states. There's a growing list of names that Fitz and Snyder have collected from players interested in the program beyond the borders of Penn State country. How big of a factor can or will they play in this recruiting class? We'll ask Fitz what he can glean at this stage in the recruiting process. Spring visits and upcoming visitors Finally, we'll discuss the players who visited the program last week and stand out on the list of names that BWI has collected. Fitz will highlight players he thinks are interesting or meaningful to the story of spring recruiting. Lastly, we'll discuss players who are joining the program on Thursday afternoon or the upcoming weekend. Join the show at 10 a.m. to find out which players are visiting Happy Valley during this critical stage of the recruiting process. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3

The team went through positional drills, running games, passing games, and teamwork during the roughly 30 minutes of open viewing. Pickel spent time with both the offense and defense and will give his thoughts about the team's progress. We'll also dive into the competitive one-on-one periods we saw during camp. Penn State did three separate drills during the open window, including one-on-one passing drills for defensive backs and receivers, blocking drills for those same groups, and running game drills between the offensive and defensive fronts. We'll describe who stood out and who made plays during the nearly live action drills. Between the LinesWe'll also have an extended session of Between The Lines, our press conference recap feature where we fill in the gaps of what coaches are saying during media interviews. This week we'll feature both head coach James Franklin and wide receiver's coach Marques Hagans. It was a remarkably frank conversation with Hagans, who did not hold back on what he wants from his receivers in 2025. We'll also be taking your questions live during the show! The Big Ten has released pre-seeds for its 2025 wrestling championships. The two-day event is slated for this Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9, at Northwestern. Big Ten Network will televise the opening, semifinal, and final sessions. B1G+ will stream the rest of them. Blue-White Illustrated will have complete coverage throughout the weekend as Penn State seeks its thrid straight conference tournament title.Below, we have three things we learned from the pre-seeds, which are not finalized until after Friday's coaches meeting in Evanston but are unlikely to change. You can also watch the BWI Penn State wrestling show and find links to the podcast version.1. The seeds look mostly as expectedUnlike some years, there was little social media outrage about the pre-seeds this year. They look mostly as many anticipated them to. Penn State has five top seeds -- Beau Bartlett (141), Shayne Van Ness (149), Mitchell Mesenbrink (165), Levi Haines (174), and Carter Starocci (184) -- as expected. Gabe Arnold is in for Iowa instead of Angelo Ferrari at 184 and is the No. 4 seed, which means he could meet Starocci in the semifinals after plenty of trash talk was exchanged before the Hawkeyes-Lions dual meet but Iowa went with Ferrari over Arnold opposite Starocci.Looking back at our roundup of seed projections, there were questions about where sophomore 133-pound starter Braeden Davis would end up. He is at No. 4, which was one potential landing spot. And, while most figured Shayne Van Ness would have the top seed at 149, there was some question about it. But, he did indeed land it.

Penn State news and notesThe team will host it's max-testing day later this week. With such an abridged offseason, what are reporters Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer looking for when they get to see the Penn State players up close? We'll preview our conversation with strength and conditioning coach Chuck Losey as well. Fitz and Bauer didn't get a chance to discuss the addition of Trace McSorley to the staff last week, so we'll discuss what they take from the news that McSorley is joining the program as an assistant QB coach. We'll also wrap up the 2025 NFL Combine and the results from Jaylen Reed's performance this past weekend. Fitz's Recruiting updateThe biggest piece of news from the program this week was that three-star Indiana wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford decommitted from the program over the weekend. While Guilford doesn't have the stars, he's a favorite among the recruiting industry with offers from all the top programs in the country. How big of a blow is it to Penn State's efforts to rebuild its wide receiver room? Fitz will discuss what he thinks of the news and how concerned fans should be. A programming note for show fans: BWI Live will be off the week of the 10th through the 14th of March for a Spring Break. The good and the bad of the latest update for Penn State recruitingThe good news for Penn State is that Pennsylvania and the program's larger regional football are loaded with elite talent in this upcoming cycle. The bad news is that the secret is out on many of the team's top targets. Will the extra attention on Luke Wafle, Carter Meadows, and other regional prospects make it more difficult for Penn State to land those players? Fitz and Snyder will discuss that idea, plus give their thoughts on the rankings. Snyder also spoke with On3, Director of Scouting Charles Power, about the players in Penn State's orbit. Quarterback commit Troy Huhn took a massive tumble down the rankings, and Snyder discussed why that happened for the California passer. NFL Combine PreviewHowever, we'll start the show with the latest Penn State football news of the week. The defensive line and linebackers take to the field for the 2025 NFL Combine today in Indianapolis. Kobe King will be the lone representative for the Nittany Lions today after the announcement that Abdul Carter won't be working out this week. The news last night was that medical tests revealed an additional injury that Carter suffered. We'll give you that info and preview the Combine to start the show. Official Visit updates Pt 3. The Penn State calendar is already chalked full of official visits for the end of May into June, and new visits are popping up daily. Snyder has been tracking the additions to the summer calendar and discusses the most interesting and meaningful ones on today's program. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3

Spring Transfer Portal Claims its first victim The Penn State football team has done an excellent job retaining players and making sure to keep most of its own depth throughout the transfer portal era. Penn State ready to spend with the top teams?Kraft covered a diverse number of topics on Monday, many of which we'll discuss in our weekly segment, Between the Lines. Today, we'll cover his pivot to focusing on the "marketing" aspect of the new era of college football and player payment. Kraft started out strong, discussing the way things are changing this year with revenue sharing entering college sports. Senior Editor Nate Bauer gives fans context about Kraft's comments and what they should take away from his answers to questions about NIL this past week. Kraft also mentioned the team's plan for player retention over aggressive portal acquisitions. At the same time, he made it clear that the team won't be bystanders for filling key roles that the team needs to fill. Did he hint that the program will be aggressive this spring to try and win a championship in 2025? We'll also review his comments about Beaver Stadium, spring football and what's next for the college football calendar. Fitz's recruiting udpateThe Penn State Class of 2026 got a fresh update on Monday as well. On3 updated the rankings for the upcoming cycle and several targets made serious climbs up the rankings. Meanwhile, other players slid back down the rankings. Recruiting expert Sean Fitz will discuss the situation in his latest Fitz's recruiting update. The future of Penn State's run-ons unclearPart of recruiting is assessing the talent that may benefit the team off the field in practice. Penn State has a strong run-on culture within the program that is under threat with the new rules proposed by the NCAA. Those rules stem from the House Settlement and the ramifications of revenue sharing coming to college sports. Fitz spoke with second-year players who aren't on scholarship earlier this month to get an idea of where their mindset is heading into an uncertain time in sports. Plenty of fans hope that this group can achieve a top five or ten finish in recruiting rankings and push the team over the top in recruiting. While we've discussed that topic several times on the show, today we're discussing how this group fits into the bigger picture. What are the strengths of this cycle? Where does Penn State need to add players this cycle to fill in gaps or enhance strengths in the current roster? While the nature of college football has changed from a long-term view, there are still aspects of team building that play into recruiting. Next, we'll look at the committed class as it stands in the cycle. Penn State has nine commits who have verbally joined the program. We'll discuss where that stands in comparison to the rest of the country, previous recruiting classes at this time, and what factors may have led to nine players on board at this point. Finally, we'll recap the latest official visit announcements and introduce you to some new names that will check out Penn State this summer. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Penn State Class of 2026 Recruiting Reset | Official Visit Schedule Filling Up

The Blue-White Illustrated wrestling show is back to discuss last weekend's two wins, the latest on the Lions' injury situation, and what's on the horizon for head coach Cael Sanderson's team.Reporter Greg Pickel and host Thomas Frank Carr start this week's episode with a look back at last weekend. They officially introduced the 2024 freshman class for the first time during a two-hour interview session with the young players. Reporter Greg Pickel was at the event and joins the show today to discuss what he heard and learned from yesterday. We'll also be discussing the latest in the Penn State running backs coach search and more. Join the BWI Live Show at 10 a.m. on YouTube, catch the replay on the channel, here on the site, or anywhere you get your podcasts. The latest on the Penn State running backs coach search Yesterday, Franklin discussed the timeline and criteria for the team's running backs coach search during his roughly 40-minute talking to the media. While we'll get into those details later in the show, we'll start with the latest names that are part of the search. Pickel will discuss what he knows about who is in the candidate pool. He'll also discuss what the freshmen running backs had to say about the situation during their interviews with the media yesterday afternoon. Between the Lines Next, we'll discuss the coaching search from Franklin's perspective. He discussed what he's looking for in his next leader of the running back room. He once again stressed that the team doesn't have time to wait and needs a coach who can immediately make an impact. However, he brought up some other topics within that answer that may or may not have to do with the current coaching search. We'll discuss those thoughts, plus potential changes to spring football during Between the Lines. Freshman Media Day Finally, we'll discuss the young players we talked to and the main takeaways from those conversations. From Cooper Cousins to Ethan Grunkemyer, we met with the entire freshman class, and we'll discuss what we learned about the personalities on display yesterday. We'll also discuss the information about player development and goals for the coming year. Want to ask a question about your favorite player we met yesterday? The Lions had just poached their own coach from CFP Champion Ohio State two weeks earlier so the dynamic of late-offseason coaching changes isn't new to the program at this point. Now, the team will need to replace one of the longest-tenured assistants under head coach James Franklin. We'll discuss that, Penn State superstar Saquon Barkley winning a Super Bowl, and more on today's BWI Live Show. Join us at 10 a.m. on YouTube or catch the replay on the channel, site, or wherever you get your podcasts. Don't forget to subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel so you don't miss any off-season press conferences or breaking news! Saquon Barkley wins his first Super Bowl We'll start off with Barkley's win in Super Bowl LIX. The former Penn State running back carried the ball 25 times for just 57 yards, but his team dominated the Kansas City Chiefs on the way to a 40-22 blowout victory that featured 16 Chiefs points in the fourth quarter once the game was put away. We'll discuss Barkley's historic season, plus talk about the game. Join us to get in on the conversation! Penn State needs to replace a top assistant Of course, the main focus of today's show is on the team's loss of Seider to recruiting rival Notre Dame. Seider has been one of the team's top assistants over the last seven years and has brought a steady flow of high-quality running back prospects to the program in recent years. What's the sting factor in losing him? What can the team do to replace him quickly, and does this represent an opportunity to change and refresh the room? We'll also discuss the recruiting aspect of that conversation in Fitz's recruiting update. From there, we'll discuss Sean Fitz's recruiting big board, which you can check out at Blue White Illustrated by signing up for a membership to the site. We'll also review the summer official visit schedule, which is filling up in early February. Penn State freshmen meet the mediaTomorrow marks the start of the 2025 season for Penn State football with the February media day. Franklin will speak to the media for the first time since his team's loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl to discuss a variety of topics, including hiring defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, the loss of Seider, and more. We'll also get our first chance to meet the Class of 2024 freshmen, which completed its first year on campus. Penn State Recruiting January RecapWith a deep playoff run taking up the first half of the month, Penn State missed out on some of the recruiting calendar to start the new year. While any team would trade the opportunity at a national championship for a weekend or two hosting prospects, it limits the time and players the team could meet. So, with all that considered, how did Penn State do in January? Recruiting experts Sean Fitz and Ryan Snyder discuss the team's progress in the past month and recap the major events that happened over the previous few weeks. NIL Conversation from Pete NakosOn3 national reporter Pete Nakos surveyed anonymous NIL executives and staffers from several of the major conferences to get a lay of the land for how much teams spent this past season on recruits and in the portal. He also got an idea of what the going rate for certain positions is and where those numbers are heading. Of course, we'll relate these topics and conversations to Penn State football and where it stands in the new NIL environment. Can the team keep up with the rising rates of players? Given the situation last year, how much more impressive is the team's run to a final four? We'll discuss those ideas and put the situation into context for fans. Top targets cutting list of schools, 2025 reviewFinally, we'll discuss the upcoming announcements from top targets this month. Players like Alex Haskell and Davion Brown are narrowing their list of potential schools. Did Penn State make the cut? We'll discuss the future of the team while taking one last look back at the Class of 2025, with the traditional national signing day happening yesterday. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3

Penn State introduces Jim Knowles this weekPenn State will host its introductory press conference for Jim Knowles on Tuesday, which is why our show has been moved to Monday morning. We'll continue our extended discussion on Knowles and what he brings to Penn State on today's show. So far, we've been asking you questions about what you want to know about his defense, but today, we're asking the experts what they're curious to learn. Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer will discuss the questions they're eager to hear answered in Knowles's first impression with the media. The main thrust of the conversation around the hire is that Penn State fans are worried that this change will set the defense back in a very important year for the program. The team retained most of its senior talent, who could have moved on to the NFL Draft this spring. Will they be up to speed in the defensive system to capitalize on this momentum toward a championship run? On today's show, we'll review the final numbers on the transfer portal for the Nittany Lions. The team officially announced the additions earlier this month, and all but one of its existing players have chosen a new home. Join the BWI Live Show to discuss what the roster looks like on the other side of those moves. Reporter Greg Pickel joins the show to take you through the team's strongest and weakest positions as we reset the Penn State roster for 2025. We'll also dive deeper into the team's transition to defense under new coordinator Jim Knowles and what changes he could bring to the team for the coming season. Penn State roster reset Of course, the main story for all Penn State fans is about new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. The program released a clip of Knowles addressing the team on social media yesterday, and Pickel will discuss the news surrounding it. From there, we'll transition to the other additions and subtractions from the roster this offseason. Former Penn State safety Tyrece Mills announced his new college destination this week. With that, only one former player in the portal has yet to find a home for the upcoming season.Next, we'll review the announcement from the program last week about the team's newest members. Penn State announced new weights for the incoming transfers, some of which raised eyebrows about the jumps in size from their previously listed size measurements. We'll discuss what that could mean for the team's needs this fall. Strengths and weaknessesWhile there's still time for players to arrive and leave in the spring portal window - and you can never count out a lawsuit against the NCAA - we're considering the roster set for the upcoming semester. Which positions look the strongest on paper? We'll review where the team can build its identity during spring football. Next, we'll look at the positions that need to be developed and take a step toward Penn State finding balance and a well-rounded attack next season. Jim Knowles's defensive breakdownFinally, we'll use the final show segment to discuss what we've learned at Blue White Illustrated about Knowles's defense and what changes he might bring to the program. After studying his defense at Ohio State, listening to virtual clinics, and reading into the data, we've got an early sketch of some differences in how the new head man on defense operates. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Penn State Roster Reset: Looking at Positional Strengths for 2025

One of the early storylines for Penn State football is that they're a top team contending for the National Championship and quarterback Drew Allar is again in the conversation for a Heisman. But how realistic is any of that? Today on the BWI Live Show, we discuss the factors that would lead Penn State to another deep playoff run and a chance at a Championship in 2025. Join the show at 10 a.m. to get your thoughts on those subjects, plus join the BWI Mailbag portion, back from its postseason hiatus. As always, the best way to know when we go live and post breaking news, or other great content is to subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel and enable notifications. Allar for Heisman? The early odds for the Heisman winner in 2025 are out, and Drew Allar has the fourth-best odds of any player in college football. Is that realistic? We discuss what it takes to win the award and how the Penn State offense can help or hold Allar back. The Nittany Lions need Allar to take the next step and become the best version of himself next year, but does that correlate to postseason awards? We'll discuss the tactical ways that can happen and what the most realistic outcome is as we sit in January. Next, we'll discuss the biggest questions for the Penn State offense and defense, which was part of Greg Pickel's "Four Thoughts" from yesterday. Does Penn State have enough NFL talent to win a championship? We'll continue our theme of Penn State's path to a National Championship by discussing a tweet from Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy.
